The food was good, yet the service was mediocre at best. I got the seafood Tom yum soup which was delicious but the server didn't know what whiskey on the rocks meant. She asked us to get up from our seats and go to the bar to show her what we meant. The server also never came to our table during our meal to ask us how our experience/food was. I'm not one to write restaurant reviews but I think zenzo sushi deserves a recognition so here it is: I think is one of the best Sushi place,I haven't been to many but our experience tonight was unbelievable. I thought the Tuna Tartar were exceptionally amazing and the Fish were so fresh , shrimp tempura roll were very good. I'm not a critical eater(or at least I try not to be) but I'm very sensitive with seafood. I've always found it difficult to find good shrimp dishes mostly because they're usually either bland or way overcooked. The batter was crispy and the shrimp was cooked properly. I don't know how they did it(I have an idea) but whatever it is it works. i think it's worth a try. I recommend it for Sushi lovers and I'm willing to put my professional reputation on the line read more

Sushi arrived warm and soggy. The avocado they used in the roll was overdue. The fish was repulsive; the farm raised salmon left a very sour taste in my mouth. I wouldn't even dare to try the tuna as it was warm, soggy, and discolored. As the owner of this establishment I would be ashamed to have the word sushi in the title of the restaurant. Absolutely terrible customer service. They have forgotten our rice at least 5 times and instead of offering a small credit for the next order as requested, they are only willing to send the rice (which doesn't make sense because want to eat when the food arrives... not 20 minutes later while waiting for the missing rice) or offer extra rice on the next order (which also doesn't make sense because we just want the correct amount of rice, no more or less!). Really disappointed that they do not seem to care at all about their loyal customers. I chose this place because the reviews were all pretty amazing. I'm not from Mamaroneck, or anywhere near it for that matter, so I was really hoping everyone was right. We started with the "Pizza Piza": sliced tuna on a charred cracker topped with guacamole, seaweed salad and chipotle mayo/eel sauce. This was pretty good. Maybe a little too much sauce for my liking. Overpowered the tuna for sure. For our entrees we ordered the "Zenzo Spicy Platter" and the "Ocean Sushi & Sashimi". The platter consisted of a spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and a spicy yellowtail roll. Nothing special. The Ocean Sushi & Sashimi was three pieces each of tuna, yellowtail, salmon, and fatty tuna sashimi; one piece of sushi of the same as previously mentioned with the addition of a shrimp sushi; and a Spicy Kani Dragon Roll. I had higher hopes for this entree but alas, although the presentation was nice, the quality of the fish was subpar. It didn't taste fresh at all. I use to love coming to this place food was always excellent but I stopped coming because of the service. I'm not sure when management changed but the place went from great to ehhh. I decided to give it another shot tonight I remembered what it was I disliked so much: soon as we were seated I was in the middle of taking my coat off and the waitress was at our table asking us what we would like to drink. I told her well we haven't even opened up the menu yet. She comes back less than a min later asking for a drink order again, she gave us about 2 min to order food and before I put my fork down she was asking to take my plate away. What is the rush??? I made my order at 10:30pm and it was confirmed, by 10:50 i got another confirmation saying it was being prepared and delivery would be between 11:30 - 11:45pm. I also got a confirmation email. By 12:10 the food still wasn't there and I had been calling the restaurant for 20 min by then with no response! They had already charged my card $126 worth of food and nothing! Sushi is ok, but not always consistent. Sometimes fresh and other times they aren't even rolled properly. For take out orders they put very little ginger/wasabi and if you ask for extra they charge you $2 which I think is ridiculous considering how much they overcharge for their sushi already. The food here is pretty decent and so are the prices. My main reason for not voting any higher is the service. I've been to Zenzo three times and the service isn't very friendly. Sometimes I've felt like I was a bother for asking for things like sugar for my tea or soy sauce for my sushi. When our table was tended to we said thank you about three or four times and yet not once was it acknowledged. My go-to restaurant when I am craving for Japanese food. I love their udon and shrimp tempura roll. This place is spacious, always clean and staff are all friendly. They do not rush you when you're done eating, you know what I am saying. Some places feels like they are pushing you out the door once they see you're done . I purchased two brown rice spicy tuna rolls from this restaurant and they were delicious! The lady that took my order was pregnant and she could not have been more polite. They prepared the order quickly, the brown rice was cooked to perfection, the sushi was fresh and I was quite pleased. I've been a loyal customer at another Mamaroneck Ave sushi place for a few years, but the sign outside Zenzo about their lunch specials peaked my interest. Since then, we have been there at least once a week for lunch! My three year old son is OBSESSED with the food, and they make him feel so welcomed and make such a fuss that he eats more than most adults! The sushi is amazing, always fresh and well presented. It is called a sushi place, but it is really Asian fusion. There are dishes that originate from Thailand and China as well as Japan. I had a chirashi special that was just fine, and my dining companions ordered pad Thai and tempura. A couple of the sushi pieces I had were quite nice, but most were on the "chilled and not very flavorful" side of the raw seafood spectrum. The atmosphere and the servers are pleasant enough, althou one young waitress had a little trouble describing the difference between 2 dishes.
