This is a nice charming bakery. You have a good selection of breads, mini pastries, cookies among other interesting items. I went mid afternoon on weekday and it wasn't crowded. The staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. The prices are very reasonable, plain cheesecake $14 and mini pastries or cookies $12 a pound. I got sliced Italian bread that tasted so fresh ( ate a some on the way home). If you not watching your calories, this place is hits the spot. read more

I gave them a 3 because lately there are two young girls they have working are inattentive. They either gossiping or on social media. I think they need to address the fact that ignoring a customer is rude. There's only 1 young lady working her but off. I've lived in the neighborhood for over 26 years and this is the first time I have been frustrated with the lack of service or professionalism. I have been coming to zeppieri bakery for years and I was very surprised with the way I was treated and not too long go. I need to order a cake for a party which was a month away so I called zeppolieri a month in advance to order the cake. When I called the girl on the phone said that they aren't taking any special order cakes at this time because of the upcoming holidays; st. Josephs day and Easter. I explained that i didn't need the cake till 2 weeks after Easter. The girl went on and said sorry I can't help you. I couldn't believe that they were refusing to take my cake order. I told her I come here all the time and have never been refused service like this and this is very bad business. So now I went to other bakery and had ordered the cake. Seriously, nobody can be mad at you when you're 20 minutes late and have an assortment of yummy goodness. Plus the people here are the friendliest around. Pelham Bay Bakery is down the block and the food is comparable but I come here for the smiles. I went there ONCE when I moved into that neighborhood and didn't go there for a few months and the girl remembered me and we had a nice conversation. What's nicer than that? Great Bakery but very disappointed We love this bakery. Its been our go to bakery for the past 5 years and their custom cakes are great. My husband went to order a custom cake today for my sons birthday. We were told over the phone to come in and speak to the baker. When he got there the girl at the counter asked us what type of cake we needed. He said a cake in the shape of a school bus. She insisted that the cake we wanted could not be done in time for a Sunday birthday and that we could do a picture cake only. She didn't even let the baker know so we could ask him if it could be done. We then went to another bakery 5 min away and they are doing it with no problems. This is one of my favorite ny bakeries. I'm obsessed with the crescent rolls- they are fresh, flaky, buttery, and only 50 cents. I've also had little sprinkle cookies, big choc chip cookies,black and whites, and closed cheese pastry. The cookies are crumbly, but they are still moist. Being Italian of course many of the traditional Italian treats are my favorite. I absolutely LOVE their Pastiera pie (Italian grain pie) I've had it from a few other bakeries in the area and its been very dry, but not here! Was able to customize and even got good advice from the young lady who took the order on choosing one frosting over another for better flavor combination. On friday my youngest daughter had a craving for a chocolate cake so once again I said lets try the bakery, what a regret and waste of $10. I got one of the cakes thats by the window and I clearly asked if they were fresh, meaning made that same day and I was told "these cakes are made daily" well let me tell you it sure didn't taste that way. My husband and I got married three weeks ago, and used Zeppieri & Sons Bakery to make our Wedding Cake. What a pleasure it was working with Carmine, the owner, who went above and beyond in every step, to making a beautiful and delicious wedding cake. Carmine held a tasting for me with different flavors and choices to choose from. He was very patient with me and was eager to make me the perfect wedding cake. We ordered three flavors, because it was too hard to choose one! The selections were Chocolate with banana and whipped cream, vanilla with butter cream, and red velvet. They were all amazing! Tasting Carmine's cakes immediately took me back to my mothers cakes, which she would make from scratch. The Wedding Cake was made so beautifully and elegant, that it was a huge impact on the beauty of the wedding decor. One of my friends expressed to me that it was a crime to cut into such a beautiful cake! Everyone loved it especially my Husband and I! I love this bakery. I go every Friday morning to buy their bread for weekend breakfast. I cannot go after work to buy the bread because it is always gone. They sell all their bread in one day. Holidays you have to go early to get your pastries, by 12:00 pm half of their pastries are sold out. Liz has always been very helpful to me, my family and friends. My family goes in to the bakery and ask for Liz because she is really sweet and patient with the customers. I will be there this Friday. Best place to buy fresh pastries at a very reasonable price. They usually make their cakes the morning of the event. You can even put your cake order on the phone and go pay them when picking up. Everything is fresh and tasty. Only cash is accepted.
