Zero Degrees is on the corner of Broad St right off Highway 360 south in Mansfield, TX, whipping up Fusion dishes between Asian and Hispanic cuisine with a twist! We came here on a weekday right after the lunch rush, and we were able to easily find parking in the ample parking lot provided by the restaurant. Inside is very modern and trendy with nice wall decorations and plenty of seats and chairs that are provided. On the menu for food, they serve many different flavor varieties of popcorn chicken and hot cheetos covered in cheese or fries. They also have wings, Carne asada fries, flaming hot elotes, and garlic noodles, plus many more items to choose from. For drinks, they specialize in mangonadas, slushies, split cup Boba milk teas, and shakes such as oreo, ube, and strawberry cheesecake to name a few. We went ahead and ordered the garlic noodles, hot cheeto fries, and butter garlic chicken bites. The wait time was fast, and we had little to no wait. The first thing I noticed was the huge portions for the fairly priced items. The garlic chicken was bursting with garlicy aroma and was packed into the container. The chicken was piping hot and full of flavor, with the flavor profile of garlic butter that was fried to perfection. The garlic noodles were cooked al dente and had a nice snap back when biting the noodles. They were beautifully garnished with parsley and parmesan cheese. The hot cheeto fries were immaculate with finely ground crumbs of cheetos covering the entirety of the nacho cheese sauce laying beneath the golden brown fries while. The cheese sauce was very silky and smooth and easy to eat while complimenting the entire dish. Overall, this was a great stop for a quick bite that fulfilled our hunger. The establishment was nice and clean, and the staff provided great customer service. Because of prior experience at another Zero Degrees, I didn't expect much, but with the right recommendations, our first experience at this location was amazing! My cousin said she loved everything she got so we followed suit with popcorn chicken, Garlic butter wings, and pink lychee, along with a mangonada. I don't love mangonadas in general, but if I get one, it will definitely be from here. The garlic butter chicken and garlic butter fries came swimming in butter--and lo and behold--they really DID taste like crawfish, as she said! Perfect for lazy days when you want that flavoring but dread the effort it takes to make and peel actual crawfish. Another possible reason to enjoy Zero Degrees is the safety measures they have in place. Customers are met with a huge bottle of hand sanitizer as soon as they enter and plenty of signs to let them know "Masks are required." That illusion of safety was muddied during my last visit by, ironically, a group of state troopers. If they had food or drinks or face coverings, there was no evidence of any of those things in the brief time I was inside to use the restroom and pick-up my food. The 4 of them sat chatting casually at one of the few tables available, directly under a "Mask Required" sign, with no masks on. I can't dock Zero Degrees any stars for this because what is an hourly cashier at a fledgling business to do in the (literal and figurative) face of that? Went this morning and it wasnt busy like usual but school just started so no surprise there! We got the Ube Camo (ube + oreos) and the Pink Lychee (strawberry + lychee) both were absolutely delicious. The Ube Camo was a perfect creamy blend and came filled to the top of the LID not cup! Took my kids here yesterday and it was delicious. My 8 year old son ordered the Cookie Monster which he stated was delicious & he would order it again. My 5 year old ordered the Strawberry Horchata which was okay but he wouldn't order it again because it didn't taste like the "real" Horchata. I explained this was more of a fusion style Horchata. He said he would want to try something else next time. Also, if mgmt is reading this, I would recommend making the strawberries a tad bit smaller because there were numerous time where we couldn't get it to fit through the large "boba" styled straw. We ordered the Garlic Butter Salt flavored one which was very flavorful with a side of Cajun Fries (recommended by the cashier). Not too spicy, great texture, and good aroma. Ive been let down by zero degrees before but since this one is new and way closer to my house, I decided to give it another shot and I was not disappointed! I ordered the spicy watermelon, mangonada, pina colada and strawberry horchata for drinks and they were refreshing and delicious! For food we ordered the crispy fried shrimp combo(w/ garlic butter salt) and the popcorn chicken. The food was so good and the portions were great!!! I come here frequently and have always loved the workers. But this time, I happened to see the manager shouting at an employee. This is really uncomfortable and makes the environment unwelcoming. Clearly, the employee was furious because the manager wasn't doing his job. It is extremely unprofessional for a manager to first yell at an employee, then not even pull them aside, and then not attempt to understand the employee's point of view. Clearly, the manager does not care about their employees, which is not something I want to support. I saw a review recently saying that they fired that employee and that is not okay for how the manager handled the situation. The shake had no taste whatsoever, except for the Oreo cookie crumbs, the rest was like sipping crush ice, no ice cream flavor at all. The wings were dry and overcooked, I ordered lemon pepper but the lemon pepper was non existent. Only somewhat decent part of the meal was the Cajun fries, Maybe the were too eager for closing time to come since I was there near that time, so I didn't get fresh cooked wings or a good shake that wasn't just ice and cookie crumbs. Stars (see key for details): 2.5 Pros: One drink was good, but a few others on the menu looked good. Cons: Overpriced, food and drink were a mix between horrible to OK. General comments: - drinks: we got two different ones. The strawberry-limeade was good and worth getting again. The strawberry bliss was horrible. As my daughter said, "it tastes like your drinking perfume." We had to throw away both drinks it was so bad. Also, we wanted to try some of the coffee drinks, but they were out of coffee for some reason. - Fried shrimp with garlic butter. They were cooked well and decently sized. Didn't realize it meant soaked in butter: They were dripping in butter...much like a mix between fried shrimp and shrimp scampi. You also couldn't taste the garlic, but you could taste a strange sweetness to it. They were edible, but that's about it. Maybe another sauce would have worked out better. - Buffalo wings: they were cooked well and were of good size. The sauce was not buffalo sauce. Was more of a sweet BBQ than anything. No real tang and no heat at all. They were OK and better than the shrimp, but not what was expected....they either need to modify their sauce, or stop calling it buffalo. - Fries: thin and soggy, but decently seasoned. Thin fries are great, but if they are so soggy they almost become mush there is something wrong. If someone wanted to go we would try different seasonings to see if it worked our better, but there isn't enough appeal to proactively give it another shot. We may try it again for the drinks, specially for the coffee, but we are in no rush based on the overall experience. Key for star rating: 5 stars: Travel worthy - it's a dinning experience worth investing in. I'm already making plans to come back! 4 stars: No tears - your not going to cry (good or bad tears), but you won't be disappointed. This place will always be on my radar, I won't need to look this up next time I'm looking for food. 3 stars: Good - better than average. Positives outweigh the negative. Upon arriving with a friend, a kind worker named Abby immediately came, bringing us menus that she'd just wiped down (points for cleanliness!)
