They took their sweet time cuz they charge a flat rate. They refused to take anything I forgot to list for the estimate (small, not heavy stuff). Then after not moving all my stuff and taking hours and hours, they demanded a 30% tip. The guy who quoted the price said 15-20%. After all this, they pressured me to take a "thumbs-up" photo with them using my phone and tried to write their own Yelp review on my phone. Can't say I'd recommend. Excellent service, showed up early and were gentle with all boxes. Reassembled my bed on a 2nd floor loft! Great attitude and professional. Destroyed my furniture!!! The office was very responsive and easy to work with but the actual movers were terrible. I never write reviews for anything but this was AWFUL service. They were so careless with our things that a set of shelves, a dresser, our kitchen table, and my desk all got huge dings/chips/scratches. We packed our boxes really carefully with lots of bubble wrap so there should have been no issue, but as we unpacked we kept finding more damage, like shattered bowls. The movers also used tape to hold things together/in place that ripped off some of the paint upon removal. I got quotes from about 5-6 movers before selecting ZeroMax. They were several hundred more expensive than other quotes, but I thought more $$ = better quality service. Apparently not! I'm really annoyed that we paid for this. read more

You obviously didn't read my review. I didn't forget to mention two huge sectionals, in fact those were the first things I mentioned along with the fact that it was a 2 bedroom, 2 living room, 2 bathroom apartment being moved. It was your employee who didn't write down a majority of what we discussed via phone during my first call which got us to the quote given. This lack of listening, and apparently reading, is what will allow this sort of horrific and expensive situation, continue to happen. How on earth would it make any sense to a moving company (or anyone for that matter), that a "2 person, 2 bedroom, 2 living room, 2 bedroom apartment" would fit in a small box truck. The second trip that you charged me a ridiculous amount for, only included belongings that equaled about a third of the trucks capacity. So, if there was a truck sent big enough to fit what I had initially told your employee, then the second trip wouldn't have been necessary. I am appalled that men from your company, including yourself, are still trying to make excuses for such disgusting and disrespectful handling of business, with no acceptance of fault or responsibility. They were helpful and took extra steps to protect both my new floors from scratches and my freshly painted walls from any stray marks as they brought everything into the apt. I had a great experience with John and his movers! First of all, when requesting a quote, John reached out within 30 mins and even gave me a call to confirm. He wanted to make sure we did our due diligence in measuring larger items to avoid extra day-of-move fees which I appreciated. He even let me throw in a couple smaller items without extra fees! Day of move, they gave a call when they were about 15-20 mins away and arrived promptly. They took care in wrapping fragile items and packed up my LES studio in I want to say an hour or less! I met them in my new apt in Brooklyn--they had already laid out my things in front and started moving everything in when I arrived. The whole process from arrival to departure was probably 2 hours. Both movers were very kind and made sure to ask where to put everything. Overall really great service from start to finish and made this move as easy as it gets! Very poor experience with ZeroMax movers. Two movers showed up at 8am and could not finish moving the apartment after an entire day. Mid way through the day, they asked me if I wanted to pay cash to them directly to finish the job on time. I said no. Caught them taking their time and making cigarette breaks in between each load. They had to come back the next day to drop off the boxes to my storage unit and forgot a piece of furniture. I tried getting the furniture back and never heard back on it. UPDATE: Moving company contacted me after seeing this review and mentioned they will deliver by furniture back, but wanted me to remove the review. They also said I have to pay a delivery and a storage fee. I said forget it. They then proceeded to offer to deliver the furniture for free if I removed my review. At this point, I'd rather leave this on here as a warning to everyone than get my furniture back. read more

My girlfriend and I needed to get a mover as we were moving home with the rents to save money during covid. Did the request a quote feature on yelp and Ron from zero max was one of the first guys to get back to me. He was very nice to speak to over the phone and the consultation process was fairly straightforward. I accurately described what we needed them to move and they gave us the most competitive price that we were able to find in the area to move us from Brooklyn to Connecticut. Anywho, we ended up booking with zero max literally a week before our move which was pretty awesome. He let me know the process in that we would pay 10% on the phone on booking and the rest of the amount the day before the move. They also provide COI as well if your amazing nyc super and or landlord requires that. Fast forward to the day before the move and I hadn't gotten any emails or anything, I reached out and Alex (nice guy in other reviews as well) let me know that I'd be getting an email to pay. Ron followed up and called me back to follow up and also let me know I needed to provide a template COI from our building so they know what to provide. Not sure if this was initially communicated to me or just standard in buildings in general, but this is my first move out of an apartment so.... Anywho we pay the rest of the balance and during the call Ron asked if we would be able to push our move from 9-11 to 1-3 pickup window. We had planned on meeting my girlfriends parents who were waiting at my house with a uhaul but we were able to adjust. Anywho We said that was fine. Fast forward to move day and we were running some last minute errands and made sure to have someone there starting at 1 in case they arrived earlier. Now we were also going to unload some of the items into another truck at my house as those items needed to go to another location. Clock turns 3 and still no update or call. I reached out and Alex picked up the phone and looked up our account via reference number. He was able to connect with one of the crews and got an update that they were really behind and that they probably wouldn't arrive for a solid hour hour and a half from that point. He was apologetic and while it was stressful during my move to have to hear that, I appreciated the honest and more accurate arrival window. They ended up arriving at around 5 but Ron called me back and was able to offer a credit towards our move for being late which was very nice. Finally a get a call from Nick, the first mover I met on our crew of three that we had to help us and he came up to our apartment and just took a quick look around to gauge how many blankets to bring to wrap stuff and then said let's get started. We had Mira? Meera? Not sure if I am spelling that right and Victor as our movers who were really nice and helpful. Unlike other reviews and other moving companies I've experience in the past, they didn't complain or waste any time at all. They kept working from when they started to when they finished and asked a lot of questions to make sure they did the move exactly how we wanted it since we had stuff going in a house, in another truck, some in a garage etc. All in all I don't know the pack was fast it took maybe hour and 45 minutes to load everything (we have a one bedroom and had a good amount of stuff). They loaded the extra van that we had to when we arrived at my house and were very careful with everything. Didn't drag or drop a single thing which was our biggest concern but they did a great Job. They asked constantly, "van or inside?" To make sure they got it right. I appreciate them checking in to make sure they do it right. They moved all of my furniture into my basement, aka new apartment lol, and quickly too. They had to take a door off in order to fit my monsterous sectional couch but they were able to get it through which was awesome! All in all they finished up around 8:50 which is later than I wanted but it got done and that's what matters. They packed very quick and unpacked very quick though they did not rush or make it feel stressful at all. My only gripe is the fact that they arrived late and after the window but the movers were absolutely awesome and completely made up for a lot of the initial stress I was experiencing because moving can be tough for sure. Oh and did I mention THEY ALL WORE THEIR MASKS and didn't not have to be reminded at all. Safety first. Any who I would definitely recommend zero max movers I would just advise management to be a little more conscious in the scheduling portion of things. Alex and Archie get 5 stars for our move from Manhattan to a storage facility in NJ (about an hour away). They were on-time, friendly, efficient, and probably most importantly, extremely careful with our belongings (wrapped and padded furniture, protected TVs, and took extra care of the boxes marked "Fragile"). I'm not sure how many different teams ZeroMax has available for moves, but we would DEFNIITELY recommend Alex/Archie if requests are available. Isaac was our customer service representative and was very helpful with our quote, as we had to update him of our inventory list multiple times since we kept changing it. ZeroMax was a great company to go with while moving during the coronavirus pandemic. They were gloves and masks throughout the entire move. The 3 movers wrapped each individual piece of furniture securely and ensured it would not be damaged. They even disassembled a few small pieces of furniture for us. Professionalism deserves respect. *** My original review is below: Let's start off positive: They offered the lowest flat rate quote of any company I contacted about my NJ to NYC move. Not by a shocking amount (about $30), but still. They were originally scheduled for a 9am to 11am arrival time. I was contacted the night before to let me know they would likely arrive around noon instead. By 12:30pm on moving day, they hadn't arrived. I called their office and was told they'd get back to me with an ETA in a few minutes. I called again at 1pm and was told they'd arrive at 2pm. They finally showed up around 2:45pm. On both my calls to the company, they didn't apologize for the delay. In fact, they blamed the previous customer for delaying them and told me "don't be frustrated" because they would definitely show up... eventually. I can understand unexpected delays, but the lack of communication or willingness to take any responsibility for that was upsetting. When they movers actually showed up, they did a decent enough job. I was concerned several times when they just sort of tossed my boxes around, and when they left the open truck in the middle of a busy Brooklyn street unattended, but nothing was broken and they unloaded everything within 35 minutes. The company called me several hours later after promising me a $100 refund for the nearly 3 hour delay... but that refund doesn't seem to be coming. I can't honestly recommend planning your move with ZeroMax unless saving $30 is worth several hours of frustration to you. read more

I used Zeromax movers to move my stuff from my apartment to a storage unit and it was the easiest move I've ever experienced. I say experienced because I did not have to lift a finger. They were very hard working and moved everything. EVERYTHING. Things I needed to pack in the car, trash I needed taken to the dumpsters, they were quickly taken from my hands. I have a lot of respect for someone who can own up to their mistakes and embrace the lessons of growing pains and the owner was able to do so when a series of errors lead to a really stressful and contentious move. Be sure to confirm the size of the truck they are sending and to double check all details like when they expect payments, who they are sending, insurance options, etc. I think my seven hour move was a new challenge for them and while I'm not terribly thrilled with how things went, he did try to make it right once I posted my original review. However, the manager who orchestrates the whole thing tried to charge me for an extra hour, saying that they got there much earlier than they actually did. Very unprofessional. After almost got scammed by two other movers, I found ZeroMax through Yelp. The were quick in providing my daughter's move with a reasonable quote to move from Ithaca to Brooklyn plus storage. With only 3 days notice, Baga and Temu drove 5 hours to Ithaca, arrived around 10:15 AM as scheduled. They were professional, courteous and efficient. They even helped my daughter dissembled her bed frame, and packed everything within 3.5 hours. Unfortunately, I have to deduct one star from the second move to her newly leased apartment in Brooklyn. June 30 happened to be one of their busiest days with more than 100 jobs. First, they were late, luckily, the apartment management was flexible and willing to extend the use of elevator hours. Second, half of my daughter's stuffs were missing. Ron responded to our email next morning and arranged another delivery right away with rest of the items. I know sometimes mistakes are inevitable. I appreciate the fact they always answer the phone right away and willing to work with us to solve the problems. From my conversations with both Ron and Alex, I found they honestly care about their customers and wanted to do a good job. I had a concern about their storage system, they spent time to explain to me patiently. I am glad that I booked with them on this move and would highly recommend them. read more

I contacted ZeroMax for moving services. They are not as responsive to inquiries as other companies. Furthermore, they quoted different prices for the same move service depending on who replies. They also charge a $35 or $45 "processing fee" for COI, which I have never heard of from any other moving company. So... usually I don't review, but the move in experience was definitely not the best. I had ZeroMax recommended by a friend so I quickly went to reaching out and trying to schedule the move. Pros: It started out great. There was an issue where yelp didn't let me know that they had responded, but once I realized and got in contact they were super responsive. Very quick to update the insurance to match the building I was moving into and get me everything I needed. Something different from my previous movers, you pay prior to them showing up. Also, no covid precautious that I noticed, no questions for you and no masks the day of. The issues started the day of the move. It started out fine, the movers texted me their eta, which kept changing probably due to traffic. Once they showed up they started moving stuff. That's when everything went down hill. Partway into starting to move stuff, they started demanding 25% tip. One of the guys even pull out his phone to calculate everything. Then they started saying my couch wasn't on the list and demanded I give them more money. In the email its says, "Gratuity for the movers(20% Recommended - if you like the service)". So, I had only taken out that amount in cash. Once I mentioned I didn't have that amount only the 20%, they got kinda annoyed, asked what the office said and I showed them the email. Then they told me not to tell the office. (I did anyways.) There definitely was a communication barrier so we had to keep using Google translate on one of their phones to discuss that. Once they found out I only had 20% gratuity they started being less careful, I definitely saw them drop my table top on the floor. One of them started smoking midway through the job, then flicked his lit cigarette in the backyard of my landlord's house. ( Also note, to keep everything together, they use packing tape. Which because it can leave a residue was definitely not my favorite solution.) When we got to the other location we found out the couch body didn't fit into the elevator. So they started demanding I give them an additional 100 in cash. When I said I didn't have cash beyond the tips, he showed me his zelle information to send it to him directly. So I told him to have the office contact me instead, because I wasn't sure how legit this ways. I found not so much and got a bill from the office for $120 and a call from the office. So up until this point, I had pretty good dealings with the office at least, but what annoyed me is the 2 guys were still moving things but I was getting told that I needed to immediately pay the bill. I kept telling them, I'll pay it, but I just want to wait until after the move when I have time to sit down and pay it. He kept on acting like I was saying that I wasn't going to pay when I just asked to wait until after the move. I'm already stressed out with 2 large men who are getting demanding and irritated when I'm a women by myself. Towards the end, I just felt rather unsafe and it felt like pulling teeth to get them to put together the bed or move the boxes into the rooms I wanted them to be in. Then the calculator came out to show what 20% for the new amount that included the 120 to go up stairs. I had to reiterated I didn't have additional cash to pull out of nowhere. So, when they asked me to go to their truck and flanked me I felt really uneasy, luckily it ended up being them showing me that the truck was empty. Maybe it was the specific crew assigned to me, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth and added unnecessary stress to an already stressful move. It ended up being $882.80 not including tip for a 1 bedroom move within Queens. read more

All the prep leading up to the moving day was great, the person I was in contact with was very helpful and thorough. Without ruining your day with the details I chose Zeromax specifically because they did not seem like a scam. The other top 3 movers in the area wanted payment upfront but zeromax allowed me to pay day of. Great. The cost in my mind meant quality but I was wrong. - the agent continually mentioned tips and amounts of tips - the movers were an hour later than scheduled - the movers refused to move two items that I paid to have moved because they did not fit on the elevator.. - the movers asked for $100 cash to move the two items down the stairs - after the agent removed the items ($65) he later called to state the refund would only be $30 because I had 3 steps leading into my building and they counted as "stairs" (I argued the movers were more than welcome to go out the back and take a much longer walk with items and had that charge removed) ZeroMax has no regard for their customer but dares to ask you to recommend friends but tbh I won't recommend it to my enemies. read more

We were very disappointed with this moving experience. 1. MOVERS ARRIVED 2.5 HOURS LATE. We booked at 4 pm and they arrived after 6:30 pm. The customer service and movers said they have to wrap up the previous customer. We were on a very tight schedule(need to return the rented truck on time), but every time we called to ask when they would come they just kept pushing back the time. 2. MOVERS REQUESTED HIGH TIPS BEFORE WORK. The first thing the lead mover did after arriving severely late, was to pull out his phone and calculate the minimum amount of tips(20%). "Give us good tips and we will do the job fast." Oh so without the tips you will do the job slow on purpose? We used another moving company that same day in the morning and they finished the job within 1 hour(same number of movers). The lead mover of ZeroMax was showing an attitude when I didn't promise him the tips, he was saying we have many stuff, the hallway is long, it needs to take 3 hours to move, etc. All other moving companies we used claimed they CANNOT require tips but will be much appreciated. We only tip for good work, you don't ask for high tips even before start working. 3. 2 HOURS MINIMUM CHARGE. We only have a 1-bedroom-1-bath(15 ft truck) amount of stuff, the building has a reserved elevator for us, we just need them to unload the stuff from the truck. They ended up finishing the job in 45 minutes. While many other moving companies charge you based on the amount of work and time, ZeroMax will charge you 2 hours no matter what(plus you need to pay 20% tips out of that 2 hours charge, regardless of the quality of service you received). 4. PAY IN ADVANCE. This is another unfair clause of ZeroMax. I understand that to reserve the moving service, a small amount of deposit is required. But ZeroMax kept emailing, texting, and calling me to require a full amount payment even before the moving date. What if the movers don't show up on moving day(they ended up showing up 2.5 hours late), what if we are not satisfied with the service(they require high tips or they will do the job slow). None of the other moving companies we used request us to pay in advance, ZeroMax is the only one. They are saying, "That's how it works in NY." Customers have to plead them to arrive on time and finish the job because they already paid they have no choice. read more

I just waited to write/ update the note after unpacking completely to make sure I am not missing.
