This colorful restaurant shows creativity and ambition in everything they do. In my experience some of the dishes were misses and some were hits. We started with the short rib poutine and a la vodka pizza. The poutine was interesting but misses the mark for us. It was a tad too salty and needed gravy. I know they were going for their own spin on the dish, but it strayed too much from the original for our taste. The pizza was packed with flavor but needed a little more time in the oven to crisp around the edges. For dinner we had the lamb burger and pulled pork sandwich. The lamb burger was excellent. The grapes really make it unique and add a nice sweetness. The pulled pork was a bit of a let down. For one, it tasted like most pulled pork sandwiches and it was also a bit too salty. Chef needs to watch the salt on some of these dishes. The service was good but the food took a little long to come out. This was a Friday night around 8pm and the restaurant was half full. Overall I enjoyed the experience but I think they need to iron out the kinks a bit. The chef is obviously very passionate about his food and it's nice to see such creativity in a menu. We drove by this place this morning and after checking out Yelp reviews, we decided we had to come back. We've been here before when it was Friendly's and Slice, but they have really breathed new life into it. I love the decor and the MUSIC! I could hang all day and just listen to their music, it's an eclectic mix of all great songs. The waiter was super kind and attentive. He brought over some cornbread to start. The cornbread was just ok... a little dry, but the whipped ricotta that went with it was so delicious. I ordered the PB and J pulled pork sandwich. I took one bit with the bun and decided to abandon the bun and just enjoy the deliciousness inside. Love the crispy shallots. Lots of flavor! And the fries were so good. Crispy and battered. I'm not really a fry fan, but I loved those. I also got the Zest GSB Honey Ale and would totally get that again. Light and refreshing. Hubby had the coconut Thai shrimp pizza. The sauce on it should be bottled. So yummy. I am not a fan of shrimp on things... so it wasn't my cup of tea, but I would absolutely order a pizza with different toppings next time. The crust was phenomenal and the ricotta on the pie was so yummy. We would absolutely come back. They have a great prix fixe menu for two Tuesday - Thursday. Here we go; So as you know Bayshore has really come a long way. Now a lot of new restaurants are coming into the town which is really great. This new restaurant Zest was found by accident. But I'm glad I found it. I actually meet the chef while dining. Great guy. Wonderful personality. As we entered we were greeted by host which had a wonderful personality as well. We were escorted to our table. The decor was nice and bright. It was clean and the vibes were great. In the back there was a wedding party going on. So the waiter approached us with such a pleasant smile gave us some suggestions. The menu wasn't confusing but everything sounds so good. We started off with the meatballs, cauliflower bits and this other dish that was soooo good. Let's just say every bit was worth it. We proceeded with the pull pork sandwich with fries , but the sandwich that was a bit out of the way was the peanut butter and jelly pulled pork sandwich which my BFF said it was outstanding. We finished off with the macroon dessert which was amazing. The experience here was above expectation. I will definitely tell people about this place and most of all go back again. read more

The service and staff are very engaging/friendly/polite! Loved our waitress, Debbie! The manager, Michelle, came around to every table to welcome guests and get their feedback. She even let me sample the "wine margaritas" which were a bit sweet for my liking - would be much more palpable with some hard liquor over ice. The decor was very cool/hip. The prices were a bit high for my wallet. Most of the specials which change monthly (I think) were up there - I wanted to try the octopus but for $28, I passed. I got my typical undressed salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked/seasoned and they did everything I asked for (and they gave me a sample of the cilantro crema - not offered as a salad dressing but it was amazing!). I ordered take out Fri night, was so good, had to take the wife to brunch there the next day Everything was amazing and very tasty. Cajun fried Shrimp Sandwich- highly recommended. Pineapple avocado and some sort of aioli crème it was terrific! Wings were cooked perfect. Nice bbq sauce. Chicken quesadilla was delicious and the Avacado ranch dressing was like nothing ive ever tasted before. Saturday meal = the cauliflower tempura was off the charts the wife was loving it and she's really picky. The pretzel w chili & other stuff was surprisingly tasty. What a gem! Just happened to come across Zest, and so glad I did! I was intrigued, because the name doesn't really give an idea about the type of food served. I would classify it as delicious!!! They have so many choices, as well as specials. Everything we ordered was amazing! We chose a variety of apps, since they all looked so good, it was hard to choose. The cauliflower chips and dip was incredible, so unique! The bacon wrapped shrimp, pork potato skins, and fried oysters Rockefeller were also delicious. Only gripe, is I wish the shrimp came with more than just two shrimp, it should have a minimum of 4 in my opinion, if sharing.
