The food choices were delicious, the staff was organized and clean, and the restaurant itself was in great shape. We had nachos, margaritas, salad, and fish tacos, and loved all of it. It is set up like Qdoba or Chipotle, but with a local feel. I personally love Qdoba but live in a Qdobaless town, so I was stoked. The fish tacos were really good, and so was my salad. Had high expectations going in. The chicken for the burritos was not very flavorful. Don't know about all the other meats but bland diced chicken is not a great ingredient for a "Chipotle" style restaurant (or any place for that matter.) Amazing is not enough of a word for Zia's. The food is great and on top of the food they know how to cater and put a crazy stressed mom at ease. Zia's catered my son's graduation party and I will from here on out go to no place but them. They held my hand through the whole process and then delivered on time and with a friendly attitude. We were visiting Durango for a quick weekend trip and decided to grab dinner at Zia Taqueria influenced by its yelp reviews. Must say the food was excellent. Very fresh, full of flavors, and just tasty. Ordered Super Taco and their Salsa sampler. Spot on! Their Mango habanero salsa is a bomb. Hubby ended up getting the weekend special roasted red pepper and queso fresco Tamales. Good size and very flavorful. Staff is extremely friendly and welcoming as well. Definitely stopping by next time we are around. Wish we had Zia T in Arizona. read more

This place was pretty good. We eat at qdoba and chipolte all the time, so it was a nice change of flavors. I got the yucatan chicken which was ok, but I like grilled chicken better than boiled (?). My wife got the fajita steak mix which she really liked. We both got a baby burrito which was a little bit small, but the regular burrito was huge. They need to offer a medium sized burrito. Next time we are in Durango we'll definitely swing by for another burrito. read more

Zia suffers from the classic Qdoba problem, in that they have far too many choices seemingly just to have them. I asked for a chicken burrito and I had three different styles of chicken to choose between? Come on. The service was good the food itself was alright, but I think if you're wanting a really good burrito in Durango you should go to Nini's. A lot of people compare Zia to Chipotle and fairly so, but something I believe Chipotle does much better is keep a simple, awesome menu that doesn't overwhelm new comers. In terms of salsa the mango habanero is decent, but I think Nini's better. It at least has the decent kick I want out of a salsa that claims to have been made with habeneros. Two things that Zia does, which I think are very positive are 1) they have daily specials. That's unique and an awesome way to introduce new items to people and get people in the door. 2) Their prices are very attractive compared to Nini's, which is admittedly a bit pricely. All in all, I'd say try it out, it's good food...just not AS good as other stuff in town in my opinion. read more

Not the best, but not the worst I guess. I ordered a salad bowl and did not like the chosen greens they use with the meat and other toppings. I would prefer a more mainstream lettuce like romaine or something you typically find with Mexican food rather that mixed greens/on the sweeter side. Found Zia Taqueria on Yelp and went here for lunch on a Sunday. Lunch for right around $8! I'm a big Chipotle fan, and this was even better! I will definitely be returning in the future. The staff was very friendly and made suggestions since it was my first time there. read more

Just ate at Zias after a long day of travel. Better than Chipotle! As Arizona natives we know about Mexican food & Zias hit the spot! This place was incredible! The food was so fresh and the servings are very generous. While ordering we noticed they had signs indicating they use local farmers in the food they prepare, so if you enjoy local that is the place to go. I had the corn carne asada tacos with all the fixin's and their cilantro lime rice. I was recommend that, but really can't go wrong with anything. Not that impressed. Had better Mexican food. The employees were not that nice. We were in line for the food the server went on to do other things while we were there waiting in line for our turn for about 4 minutes. When the other server saw that we were not being help he came to help us but then the 1sr server was not happy that he was trying to help us. Salads are to blah. Best restaurant in Durango. Period. Forget Seasons, Cosmopolitan, Ken & Sues. Save your money and go to Zia! I've never had anything at Zia that I didn't like, but by far the best thing on the menu is the nachos. For $7, you get a plate of nachos that would be two meals for most (not for me). Homemade chips, meat/veggies, cheese, lettuce, cabbage, as many salsas as you want, and sour cream. Tinga is my favorite meat for the nachos - it's a chicken chorizo blend. I also like that Zia uses local or sustainably grown/raised veggies and meat whenever possible. I feel good about giving them my business because of that. They also have awesome employees that are always friendly, even when the line is out the door. read more

It has more gourmet versions of the meat and hot sauce, dang good! Good service too, if you show up late they'll let you stay and eat even while they close it down. Good tacos, great atmosphere. I had the traditional barbacoa and tinga chicken tacos. I like that they customize them, but would love to see a choice sauce paired with the tacos (a la Torchys, an all time favorite of mine). My wife felt her fish tacos were good, not great as well. Kids' burritos were solid. Good selection of beer and artisan (Boylan) sodas. I would come back here when in Durango. read more
