My husband and his brothers go here often and they rave about the food. Hubby finally took me and I had the most delicious cinnamon roll ever. It was more than enough for breakfast. He had an omelette with home fries. I tried the home fries and they were delicious too. The service was excellent and the waitress very friendly. The restaurant is decorated with an American theme, maybe because of the 250 years celebration. I am looking forward to coming again soon! read more

I like seeing my food being made. We sat at the bar. Service was pretty quick for a random Sunday. There weren't a lot of customers in there. A little pricey for a quick diner spot. The service and food was very good during our visit. It was a cold day and we appreciated the opportunity to have a big hot breakfast before starting our day. After seeing the homemade cinnamon buns we had to order them. They were delicious, decent sized and had a nice amount of frosting on top. After the cinnamon buns we moved on to a kids waffles, pancakes, corned beef hash, bacon and potatoes. Everything came out at the same time and was hot. The pancakes had a nice vanilla taste to them and the corned beef hash taste amazing. We will definitely order it again. read more

I had driven by this restaurant so many times throughout my years, but was never able to stop to try it. I really wanted to try it though. My friends and I were hiking the Holland Ravines and our parking spot was right near this restaurant, so I was pretty excited that we could stop after our hike for dinner. I love the outside, with its windmill. Walking in, there's a diner counter to your left, to your right is a wonderful display of ice cream, and a table with home-cooked fresh apple pies, etc. We were seated by a very nice waitress in a booth near a window. They did have some outdoor seating, but it was near the road and it was a chilly day. The menu is expansive and includes breakfast all day if that's your desire. They have a smoker in the front yard that they use on the weekends. We opted for that option. We ordered, and split, the barbecue chicken wrap and the pulled pork sandwich, one with chips and one with fries. We really enjoyed both. The chicken wrap was the perfect flavoring and I loved melty cheese inside. The pulled pork sandwich had plenty of meat and a perfectly toasted bun. Of course, I couldn't resist all the ice cream flavors or the apple pie that I watched being placed on the table from the oven! We split four different scoops of ice cream, all better than the last, and a slice of apple pie. The apple pie had a nice crumble on top, the apples were soft, which I prefer, and flavoring was perfect. The waitress didn't even have to warm it up because it was still warm from the oven. It reminded me of my Mom's Apple pie, so I bought a full pie to bring to my Dad for $17. I thought that was a fair price, considering the apple pie was very heavy by weight. Stopped in for lunch yesterday with some friends. I'll have to say the negative comments on the service had made me apprehensive but I understand that can change. Well it certainly did! We were greeted by a young bubbly waitress who welcomed us with a big smile. This is really a nice diner in a rural area. I was brought the wrong drink due to a misunderstanding and our waitress quickly brought another. My Philly cheesesteak omelette with Swiss was delicious and I have to mention that the usual PCs of jelly also included cherry, raspberry and apple cinnamon. A far cry from the norm of mixed fruit & grape. We were all full but it's worth mentioning they also have a wide selection of ice cream. We sat down at a table, the server finally came over and literally tossed 2 menus on our table and then walked over to what must have been a regular who walked in after us and brought her coffee and was very nice to her. Finally stopped into the Zider Zee after at least a ten year hiatus. This was one of my late Grandpa's favorite places and we spent many Sunday mornings here on the way out to our cabin in Arcade. I don't know why I haven't been back the past few years, but I'm glad I broke that trend today. The interior is nicely freshened up since the last time I was there. I had the chicken barbecue melt which was delicious. Piping hot and saucy. I couldn't resist getting one of their homemade desserts and ended up trying a coconut cream pie which was also very good. Overpriced and very poor service. My husband got the big breakfast - ended up costing 17 dollars and it wasn't that big. He was given a choice of pancakes or French toast - chose the French toast (only got 1 slice) and it was $2 extra which wasn't mentioned. Got 1 cup of coffee with no silverware. Never brought the silverware until she brought out our meals. That was the last we saw of our waitress. Never got any more coffee, never bothered to stop back to see if we needed anything. Had to go to the register and ask for our bill - she wasn't going to bother to come back. Ended up stopping at a local coffee shop to get anouther cup of coffee. I ended up in Holland on Sunday around lunch time and thanks to Zider Zee's being where I needed to be it was the perfect stop for both lunch and ice cream! This is a small town little diner type place filled with homestyle cooking, plenty of delicious looking specials, and it's own ice cream parlour right inside. The place itself is a good size with plenty of seats, very cozy, and filled with a friendly staff to go with it. The menu was pretty diverse offering tons of different breakfast and lunch options but after seeing they had an open face meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes, I knew I needed to try it. The food only took about 6-7 minutes to be served and boy was it good. The meatloaf was delicious and the mashed potatoes we're as good as mashed potatoes can be. Now I couldn't leave Zider Zee's without giving some of the ice cream a try so I decided to get a scoop of the mint chip and a scoop of the cookie dough and both get 2 big thumbs up from me. Overall, this place is an awesome little restaurant for a small town like Holland and offers both delicious food and delicious ice cream and I hope to come back some day! read more

Ok you need to stop in here and give them a try! I read the other reviews and was a little hesitant but I know the food is good so I stopped in for breakfast/lunch today. We were greeted by a happy smiling waitress so right away I was feeling better about coming in. My husband & I grabbed 2 spots at the counter. I ordered the Big Buck platter and was able to substitute the plain pancakes for their cinnamon pecan ones at no charge! It did take a little longer for the good but the place was packed so it's understandable. I watched the owner cook everything the entire time we were there so it's not like they were sitting around talking. Great food like theirs is worth the wait! Their prices are very reasonable too. My mouth was watering as soon as I saw her loading up my plate! Everything was delicious. .scrambled eggs, home fries, sourdough toast, sausage & pancakes! Wow!!!!!! The Double Dutch Dip is the BEST "French dip" type sandwich that I've EVER had by far!!! Before visiting my husband and I read the reviews and were a bit nervous about the wait time and also the negative interactions with the "owner/manager" previously written about. Must have been our lucky day because I cannot sympathize with my fellow Yelpers on this one. While this may be different on a non-week night meal, our visit was actually quite pleasant all the way around. There were two young ladies working whom treated us kindly, and helped recommend meal selections. This was one of our go-to stops when we were in the neighborhood. Today we felt like a drive so we went to Holland specifically to stop here for breakfast. As we walked in we noticed it seemed like everyone was only thee for coffee. One by one the orders started coming out. The cook, who I've seen there before and is a crabby thing, was preparing one plate at a time and putting them under the warmer and so on. One table had three people at it and two plates came out followed about ten minutes later by a plate with the third persons lonely scrambled eggs on it. We didn't get served for over forty-five minutes. Very very slow and expensive now, so not worth the ride and the food was just alright. Now I know why everyone in the place was looking around at each other. Just to wrap things up I ordered a piece of their chocolate cream pie for my girlfriend to bring home with us. The Zider Zee is a very tricky place. It's great food, but the service is absolutely terrible. I try to make it a point that every time I come to visit my home town, I stop, but it seems every time I go, the wait time to even be greeted is far too long to feel welcomed. This time in particular, was the worst. We got there ad were looked at by all 3 staff members, consisting of 2 waitresses and a cook. We seated ourselves as you do, and noticed there were only 3 other tables full in the place. The waitresses ignored us and we're doing dishes and talking and cleaning and sitting and talking with another table while we still hadn't even been spoken to. After 12 minutes of waiting, we finally left. It makes this place a hard place to rate because the food is absolutely wonderful, but the people and service get continuously worse and make the place not worth coming back to. read more
