05/20/26 An update: It's an odd combination of service: Order at the counter, pour your fountain drinks, seat yourself, and then a waitress brings your food to the table. The food was cooked to order, but there was an odd taste to my dipped fried mushrooms, a flavor I couldn't identify. Examining closer, it was horseradish dipping sauce. OK. Not bad, but not expected. I loved my shrimp basket, and the huge side salad, which was included in the price. This is a very casual restaurant; the waitresses are in shorts, and most have at least one tattoo. read more

John & Mary's is our go-to place to pick up a quick pizza in the Arcade NY area. We love the crust which has the right amount of chew. The sauce is perfection and the pepperoni is abundant and flavorful. Service is always fast and friendly and the dining room is like a community center. I've eaten at John and Mary's since they occupied the house that sits in front of Koike Aronson. Loved it when they moved to the current building because it meant more options, more seats to sit down and eat, and frankly a better location. The service there absolutely sucks now. The "managers" suck and the quality of food has significantly dipped. Orders are consistently wrong, often times wings are tiny, and the pizza is undercooked. Frankly, I've all but stopped eating here. I think Marco's makes an inferior pie and wings, but at least I don't feel like I'm dealing with people who could care less about taking my money while giving me poor service and weak food. All good things must come to an end, I guess. read more

Did I mention that this was my first time at John & Mary's? Usually having a sub sandwich from a restaurant means taking a convenience to satisfy hunger. Having a John & Mary's ham sub to me was like: "Am I lazy or what?" :) Fixing a sandwich like that would be super easy and fast at home. It was bread, basic ham, provolone cheese, iceberg lettuce, tomato and onion, plus oil dressing. We wanted to mix some ham with some turkey, but the person who was taking our order couldn't do it. She blamed the computer system, which could only sell us two separate halves of ham and turkey. Wait a second, both turkey and ham submarines cost the same. Why not just tell the person that's 10 feet behind you at the sandwich counter to mix half and half? An actual owner or manager would have just said "sure". The only assorted sub on the menu was with ham, capicola and salami and that's not what we wanted. It was my only one experience, but a big downer. It would be much nicer if they were more open minded and sensitive to customers' needs. We still dealt with humans, right? The food was good. The bun was toasted and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. All of this for just eight dollars. Possibly I would visit this particular location again for a more complex meal or sandwich but after fishing. They are open at 11am and that's when the fish usually stop biting. P.S. I just checked the online ordering method and I see there is a ham & turkey sub option available. It's just two bucks more than what we paid for a ham. I think it was simply too much to deal with for the person at the counter. Ugh... I can't stand bad service anymore. read more

The Scarlet Vetter says....if you are looking to grab a quick sub, a pizza, wrap or salad this place is a great option. Wait times can be longer than desired if there is a long line. The interior is generally clean and there is a good amount of eating space, which even expands in the summer with a nice outdoor eating area, but again if there is high traffic, you may need to bus your own table to tidy up after the last party has left. The one consistent downside is the state of the bathroom. More than once it has been out of toilet paper or has a messy yukky toilet. However on the bright side, the staff is pleasant, they seem to work well together and they also seem to genuinely care about moving orders along. They also have a great takeout and delivery service. I would definately recommend this place. I will review again in six months after a few more visits to see if the downsides have improved. read more

Seriously the best John and Marys I have ever been to. The decor is cute, it is very clean and you are greeted with a smile. You Order at the counter and they bring your food to you. My husband and I both ordered subs and they came out promptly by a very efficient and polite young lady who made sure we had everything we needed. The subs were good and very fresh tasting. Ordered 2 subs for pick up while passing thru the town heading home. 5/17/24. They were both completely wrong. One large steak and double swiss American cheese, plain and dry, was given one large steak and provolone with onions and peppers. The other order was for half steak and cheese with double swiss american; Let, Tom, may o & oil was made: steak with regular provolone, let, tomato; no mayo, no oil but was giving italIan dressing on the side and charged extra for it. Ahh now that was a proper traditional WNY meal. When coming back to the buffalo area, one must get wings. These were just what the doctor ordered at John n Mary's! Medium wings, crispy and wet.. perfect. And chicken finger subs? Yes please! For some reason outside of NYS, no one knows what that is or how to make it if asked.. seriously?! Loved John n Mary's! It was nice and clean and inviting. It sure was hopping but it was a Saturday night in a small town.. after ordering it took quite a while to get our food, and they forgot half the order until we had to ask where it was. My family go here for consistently fresh & tasty food, including sandwiches, subs, wraps, soup & salad. This restaurant also serves Pizza, among other items, although we have never tried it here. The menu prices are reasonable and affordable, however, but sandwiches and wraps don't include fries or sides. I recommend ordering appetizers or sides, and you'll be golden. The counter staff and waitresses are always courteous and professional with us. The restaurant has a family friendly atmosphere and is always clean. You must order at the service counter and the waitress then brings the food out when it's ready. There is a nice outdoor dining area with umbrellas over the tables. There is no WiFi and alcohol is not served here. read more

The food was cold upon arrival after waiting nearly 2 hours. Flavor was good on the pizza, but maybe a touch too much on the sauce. The wings were just swimming in sauce masking the crispness that I ordered. One big plus is they provided both celery and carrots with their wings. read more

Ordered a "half baked" pie from the Arcade restaurant. Apparently they never heard of that term. Person on the phone asked if I wanted half the pizza cooked and half raw. I said no and laughed and asked if she was new. Insulted, she chewed me out and gave the phone to her manager. Manager took my order, but also didn't know that other pizza joints will bake a pizza half way so you can finish the job at home. She said "oh, that's a light bake". Got it home and guess what- they don't even know what a light bake means. If I put this in the oven for a few minutes, it will be burnt. Have a look for yourself! read more

John and Mary's was one of my favorite restaurants until a few recent occurrences I have experienced with their service. The only reason John and Mary's isn't losing business is because it is located in a small town and their established clientele are locals. Don't price your food at the rate of a nice restaurant, if I'm going to choke on bones after eating your chicken wings. Literally every single wing had tiny little bones scattered throughout the meat. Wings are expensive. When you eat out for a special occasion and you physically cannot eat the food without choking on it, that's kind of disappointing. And if you aren't choking on it, then it's probably dried out. My favorite thing on the menu is loaded fries. The only reason I didn't give this review one star is because they are the best loaded fries I've ever had. But more than once or twice, I have gotten curly fries instead of straight fries, or they've forgot the extra cheese on the side that I paid extra for, etc, even though all of these were made extremely clear in the order. Tonight, I ordered food for my friends and my order was out for delivery at 9:03pm. We called John and Mary's at 9:35pm. Our app said it would be here at 10:03. They said that they left at 9:02pm and would be there shortly. At 10:15 they told us they were closed and were very rude over the phone. They said the address was entered incorrectly, however, the girl verified the address on our first phone call correctly, so that was a lie. She also said they tried calling us and there were no missed calls on my phone. Don't act like we never spoke on the phone. I am getting refunded, but I haven't had time to eat all day and I have to stay up late before work tomorrow to cook for myself. I hope the next time I get food, I don't have another ridiculous experience. read more

This place is great. Every time I come here I get great friendly service and terrific food. The wings are very good and crispy - their hot sauce - HOT. I have been getting their chicken souvlaki. Everything you can ask for. The chicken is well marinated and so tasty and tender. Tzatziki sauce I think. Delicious. Grilled Pita. Atmosphere is very nice. More like a nice restaurant than a pizza haven. Best food in Arcade and never disappoints. read more

Every time we order anything, it always seems to be sloppily made. Very good food but not easy to eat when it's sloppy. Subs always have too much dressing (even if you don't order extra)and pizza always has way too much sauce. The place was dirty, even the tables that had been wiped down had a film on them and also little bits of food left in spots. The windows were so dirty you could barely see out of them. The staff were nice but not really on the ball. Brought food but no silverware, got the order wrong but did fix it with no problem. Food was mediocre. So I haven't written a review in a bit. Had some rough weeks. But here I am with a new place that is only about 45 min away. In Arcade of all places. Service: We did take out. The lady on the phone was pleasent and helpfull. And accepted adjustments easily. Food: Id have to say that for Arcade it is truly awesome. There were a few misses that left it a four star for me. But I would return if I was in the area. Fried Pickles: Personal preference had these strike out for me. I prefer thin crispy chips. These were done in spears. Tasty coating though. Hot Wing Dings: Husband said they were okay. His third place ranked dings. Mexican Steak Burro: Spicy. Plenty of lettuce on the side. Good flavor. Used cheap sandwich steak, which is basic and it was kind if small. I expected a bigger burrito for the cost. Steak Taco: Like the burro minus the grilling in spicy sauce. Husband agreed it was the more cost efficient option. Another okay. Cajun Fingers: This is where my rating really banked. Not really any cajun taste. Or any flavor but butter really. Very greasy and disappointing. Atmosphere: Quick pick up and out. Its cute and clean. All in all this place was fine. Its not my favorite place but its definitely not bad. And for Arcade, its fantastic. Id like to try their subs or pizza and see how those stack up. read more

Not as good as it use to be. They are skimping on ingredients. My husband had a steak sub and said it was horrible. I had a Turkey sub and it was good but not very much Turkey or lettuce when after I ordered double lettuce because I don't like tomatoes. Hopefully it will improve like it was at the beginning. Came here for the first time the other night. There were a number of people working, and during this pandemic with facemasks required, half the employees in the kitchen were wearing masks over their mouth only, and not their noses, and the other half had them across their chin. How is this protecting both the workers and the customers whose food they are preparing? I was appalled that these people were preparing and serving our food! I posted a comment on their Facebook page hoping that they would improve their practice, but they immediately deleted my comment. If this restaurant cannot comply with state guidelines, why are they open and serving food? And speaking of the food, it was mediocre. I would never go back. Not impressed. Never liked the old grease pit down the road. When they moved into the new location we were hoping that the food would improve with the atmosphere. The food did get a little better, but still not impressed. We tried their ice cream bar which we thought was a great idea until we tried to pay for it and the location was bad and the price was a bit steep. Not real impressed with the new atmosphere either. They closed off the back for a kitchen which made the rest of the place crowded. We like the outdoor fire pit, but we rarely see it on. I think we'll pass on returning. read more
