What a great find in a small non-descript shopping center. Thanks so much Yelp as I would never have seen it without you. We started with the Parmesan dusted calamari which was an interesting take on the squid dish. I love cheese and I love calamari so it worked for me. We noticed many other tables ordered the same. For my entree, I had the crabcake sandwich. It was excellent. Fresh crab, light tartar sauce and perfect snowflake roll (still not sure what kind of roll that is.) Very affordable all around at about $10-12 for sandwiches and $12-23 for entrees. Service is really what made this place stand out. Very polite and knowledgeable about the cuisine. read more

The quality of zinc cafe food and staff has been slowly deteriorating over the past year. There have been many times I have been in there and been wowed by the service and food but as of late they both have been terrible. I'm not sure if they got a new cook but the food was well below the quality I expect and usually get. Today I went in for brunch rather early, 9am. Zinc gives complimentary muffins. A free muffin is a free muffin, however, my free muffin was over cooked and tough. I ordered the Eggs Blackstone and my boyfriend ordered eggs Benedict. We waited about 20 minutes (there were only 4 other tables) for the food to come out. Both of us had over poached eggs and when we talked to the server she seemed to be very confused with hesitation to fix it. She took the plates back and we waited another 15 minutes for the fixed dishes that came unfixed. The eggs were sill very over poached and the hollandaise was very thin and tasted like orange butter on the eggs. The server never stopped back to the table and had other servers/food runners deliver the check and refill our coffee. All in all I will not be back and will take my business to a place that cares about their customers and actually makes decent food. read more

It was the worst experience I ever had. We had a reservation for a four top outside on Sunday with my parents. When we made the reservation we asked if it is to cold outside can we get a table inside since my parents are in their eighties. The man who took out reservation said it would be no problem. When we got there it was to cold for them. We then went to talk to hostess/ owner and she told us take it or leave it. She said the person who answered the phone on Friday should never had said that and she had two big parties coming in. I told her my parents are elderly and we had to be inside. Love, love, love this place. Truly a hidden gem in Medford and in my opinion the best restaurant in Medford. Their Sunday brunch is awesome, with a solid menu and free homemade muffins given as an appetizer. They serve Lacas Coffee, which is a local independent roaster I never knew about but is delicious. Their regular lunch and dinner menu is delicious as well. They always have solid specials, usually something with seafood. Their French Onion soup is solid, love the Southwest Blackened Chicken Salad and the Crusted Halibut. If you're a roast beef sandwich fan, theirs is on point as well. Can't say enough about this place; the owner is awesome and staff super friendly. read more

We loved this little cafe and were blown away by their awesome homemade white balsamic vinegar dressing, fresh salads and delicious angus beef burger. I have done Zinc cafe a disservice by not giving them a shout out sooner. We mostly come here around noon on Sunday's after church for brunch, we really lucked out not having to leave our town to have one of the best breakfast spots in south Jersey 3 minutes away. 1.) call and make a reservation, this place fills up for brunch and is rather tiny. 2.) this is a byob... if you're indulging, most people bring a bottle of champagne for mimosas... I see others sometimes bring beer 3.) before your meal comes everyone gets served a warm little muffin (flavor changes) and a slice of cantaloupe or honeydew... the fruit is fruit, but these homemade muffins are DELICIOUS! 4.) everything I've tried on the menu has been amazing, I'm convinced you can't go wrong... I love the ham omelette-one of, if not, the best I've ever had! 5.) the only reason I would even think about giving this place 4 1/2 stars is because the wait staff is not overly cheery... but after all, I did once knock over an ice bucket all over the floor! A more than acceptable replacement for the former Izzie's, the food is always fresh and well prepared. We have been eating here several times per year since they opened and have always found their offerings new, tasty and imaginative. This is by far my favorite restaurant in Medford. I've been here multiple times and each time I come back it never fails me. From the endless entrees,the vegan options to the amazing brunch menu everything here is cooked and prepared with love and care. During my recent visit I brought my friend. Since we sat outside and it was very hot we decided to split and app and get salads for dinner. For the appetizer we did the artichoke and spinach dip. It came in a warm bread bowl with everything crackers on the side. The dip was delicious and you didn't even need the crackers because the bowl itself did the job! For dinner I got the special which was the arugula and beet salad. It came dressed with a balsamic drizzle topped with beets and fresh fruit. I also had a crab cake added to it. The crab cake was perfect. Mostly crab not a lot of filling which is how I like it. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I am completely appalled and upset at what I saw and experienced tonight. First of all, I called 40 times to place an order and all I got was a busy signal. I am not exaggerating. I legitimately had the number "40" next to their phone number listed on my recent calls!! I finally drove to the restaurant to place my order there. As I was placing my order, I saw back in the kitchen that NONE of the chefs were wearing masks. I saw at least 4 of them!! And then the owner comes out and is not wearing a mask. I even stepped back at one point. I was just so shocked, I didn't know what to do. As I waited there, I heard the owner speak very rudely to two other workers, as she was wearing no mask. I got my food and left, and the whole way home I contemplated whether I wanted to eat it or not considering the unsafe conditions. When I got home and opened my salad, it was missing the chicken. I completely wasted $36. I just threw it all out, because my gut told me not to eat it considering what I saw. I tried calling Zinc again 13 more times but it was busy. I WILL NEVER EAT AT ZINC EVER AGAIN, AND I WILL MAKE SURE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT I EXPERIENCED TONIGHT. And I will also be calling the Burlington County Department of Health on Monday. read more

The food in this cafe is very good. Everything tastes fresh and cooked to order. I give the food 5 stars. That being said, I will not be going back. Today was my 6th time there and it just isn't a pleasant place to enjoy lunch. The place has no ambiance. There were stacks of boxes by the door and what appeared to be flour sacks stacked up in plain view. The floor was dirty as was the window area. The owner/ manager ( not sure who she was) was loud and had complete disregard for her patrons. An individual came in with a large flower arrangement and proceeded to rearrange it directly behind the table where my party of 3 were eating. He proceeded to do this and have a very loud personal conversation within 2 feet of us. At one point his loud voice startled me and I got a disapproving look from the aforementioned women who was having the loud conversation with the flower bearer. This went on for 15 minutes. Surely all of the arranging should have been done in his shop or in the back room of Zinc. I suggest you order the food to go! read more

Great food. Very cute. Great service. There was 2 things u didn't like, though. First, the menu was a bit too fancy for my taste.. I ended up getting the baked Brie, which didn't come with anything to eat with it, which I found odd.. maybe some people just eat the baked Brie plain (???). I simply asked for some bread, and it was excellent. Second thing I didn't like was that it was a little stuffy. It's just a small location and a popular place. We ordered take out tonight. Sadly, when we arrived to pick it up, we saw that Zinc isn't following or enforcing NJ COVID restaurant regulations. The owner behind the counter was unmasked. Several kitchen workers in view through the kitchen doors were unmasked. The only kitchen worker who was masked with a blue surgical mask was wearing it under his nose. There are other places to eat in Medford. We will keep it local but we will go elsewhere in the future. read more

I have not gone to this restaurant in quite sometime. I decided to give it another try to see how they are doing. Again it is the same old same old menu specials etc. when I first walked in the tables were so close together it was clear it was not socially distanced. The owner robin was still there and was her surely self. No one was wearing a mask. I quickly left the establishment. They should be reported to the state as they have broken numerous covid requirements. Why would you not only put your customers but your staff to be at risk for covid. Ate here again last night. We were welcomed warmly at the door immediately upon entering and showwn to ourr table. Water and breadsticks quickly followed our seating and menus presented and specials described. I chose tomatoe bisque and black and blue flat iron pork as my entree. Portion was huge and cooked perfectly. My wife chose scallops and was delighted adding throughout the Meeks how good they were. This is not our first visit here, we have eaten hEre numerous times and have always had the same great service and food, which is why we will continue to eat here. You should try. On the positive side, the fruit cup was decent! But overall I did not enjoy my breakfast here. For one thing, The waitress' "hurry up and stop wasting my time" attitude did not make me feel welcome. For another, the lighting was too dim, so it was not such a cheery atmosphere. But my food was the real problem. The breakfast burrito was terrible; probably the worst one I've ever eaten. Too much avocado. All I could taste was avocado, not eggs at all. I mean, I knew there would be avocado in it, but it overpowered everything. The tortilla shell was just dry and tasteless. I ended up pulling out the eggs (all two bites of them) and leaving most of the tortilla. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth that lingered till I got home and brushed my teeth. Worst experience in the area! Based on the reviews of this restaurant, I was excited to check it out for lunch today. Maybe I should have checked some of the most recent reviews. It would have saved my afternoon for something better. Three of us made reservations for the late lunch on a gloomy mid-week afternoon. The place was about 25% filled with most diners already served. The server offered us wine glasses for the bottle we brought with us. She brought us bread sticks and a small whipped spread to dip them in. The spread was pretty basic, vintage 1980's. The bread sticks as well. Stale, maybe not 50 years old, but certainly not fresh or crisp. We started with a shared plate of parmesan dusted calamari with roasted garlic aioli. The portion was generous but this calamari had not seen the sea for quite some time. Slightly rubbery and super salty because of the cheese, like the stuff that shakes out of tubular green canisters. The aioli had a stiff texture and just added more salt to the overall taste. If you like calamari, do not order this appetizer. If you think you can impress your date because you eat "exotic stuff", go ahead because you will not taste the actual mollusk. The next dishes served included hot roast beef with melted gruyere, crispy onions & garlic aioli on ciabatta (mis-spelled on the menu by the way). The roast beef was flavorful and tender. This sandwich was a hit with the diner. It was served with a salad because the restaurant was out of the shoestring fries. Another guest chose the special asiago-spinach ravioli with a crab stuffed shrimp in pesto cream. Again, salty is the word of the day. The pesto cream was acceptable for south Jersey, the pasta a bit over cooked but the asiago added too much salt to the filling to make allow the dish to balance out the flavors. The single small and over-cooked butterflied shrimp fill but a basic bell pepper filled "crab filling" was not worth the eating. Again, I was told this place was a bit retro / vintage but I still expected the flavors and dishes to have left the 1970's and 1980's. The last was the dish I ordered - blackened mahi tacos. Blackened for sure! There was so much powdered blackened seasoning on the fish that the fish was a no show. Speaking of the fish, overcooking fish does not add to the flavor. It was dry and not edible. The server asked if I wanted "a drizzle" on it. What? Was there supposed to be a sauce on this taco that was forgotten? Did she really think a "drizzle" would revived the cremated fish? Come on! So when I tried to have a conversation with the owner, she told me "this is not a game." Well, I think not! She was rude and defensive. Maybe other clients feel they have no other choices of where to eat but I can assure you, there are plenty of other restaurants in the general area that offer much better fare, without the drama, attitude and presence. This restaurant needs a full make-over in this diner's opinion. This place is trying to be something in clearly can not ever attain with this chef and staff. P.S. Got a phone call from the restaurant owner. We had made a reservation. She was none to happy with the review and asked me to "post the truth". Well, this posting is a review of my experience. I did not originally mention the shabby and outdated appearance of the restaurant, the bad acoustics, the uncomfortable chairs, and closeness of tables. I did not complain about the prices of your dishes that would lead me to believe I should expect an elevated dining experience. Four of us went to lunch on a Saturday. I have celiac. I was impressed the waiter was well versed in answering my million questions. What was even more impressive that the restaurant made a simple change to using gluten free flour which opens up tons of options and reduces risk of cross contamination and does not compromise flavor. I wish more restaurants did the same. The best part? French fries-something I am used to not eating due to the cross contamination. I went /friends before the pandemic & had brunch. It was amazing. I wanted to take my husband. It was was right after the pandemic & places we're just opening up. When I called and asked about mask protocol, the owner was extremely rude. She didn't feel it was necessary to wear masks. OMG REALLY? I think she needs a course in people skills. I'm surprised she has lasted as long as she is. I was really disappointed. The food was really good but with that attitude, she lost two patrons. A cute, little place. We went with my parents and 3 children and they were very kind. Sometimes restaurants shove people with kids in the corner and I truly wouldn't bring mine out if they weren't quiet and well-behaved so appreciate when restaurants don't do that!
