My girlfriend and I go to Zing about once a month and have never had a bad experience. The menu is great and have a lot of options for special rolls. Visited Zing for a late lunch today. Server was very nice. Smiling and friendly. The place is very clean. Our lunch was delicious and the service was very nice. Took a star because of those chopsticks. You can do better. Japanese food is too good and too beautiful to be eaten with the chintzy chopsticks. read more

We decided to try Zing out finally. We were not disappointed. I was a little surprised at how small it is but we got seated quickly and our server was great! We brought some wine and beer and she poured it for us. The food was all good. My only complaint is that a lot of the rolls all seem very similar and a little pricy for some of the ingredients. We have gone there twice now and I must tell you how lucky we are to have such a great Sushi/Asian restaurant in our area of the county. We have know the manager for years and we are always impressed with his ability to run his kitchen! The wait staff was is very helpful and friendly. The menu is very nice and covers a lot of different types of food. It is a BYOB which is never a problem. Even though they don't take reservations , and we were told it can get very busy on the weekends , you can easily go to the bar at Harry's right across the street while you wait for your table. The decor is up beat and fun and the overall feel of the place is cool , like you might find in a big city neighborhood restaurant. Keep up the good work! We will be back often! I really want to like Zing. I was so excited when they opened in our town and I so want them to be better. This type of restaurant is much needed in our area. We have had many take-out items. The sushi was good. Not amazing, but good. A little pricey for the quality. We would definitely only order sushi in the future. The other menu items are not good. The chicken teriyaki was not even edible. The chicken was rubbery and the sauce was so thin. It's exciting to have a sushi restaurant in Coatesville. The dining area is small but they make the most of the limited space. Parking is tricky, perhaps use the lot at the restaurant across the street at Harry's Hotdogs. There are a few kinks that they'll work out soon, I'm sure. This review is for families with severe allergies. We normally eat at Han Dynasty in Exton which is so much better. My son always gets the dan dan noodles there and Han doesn't use peanuts. We go to Zing ask for the noodles and the chef says he can make them. I should have asked, that's on me, but no where in the restaurant or on the menu is any warning that they cook with peanuts. Gluten and gluten free are listed throughout the menu. My 16 year old son almost died last night. I had to call 911, they sent paramedics and transported him to the hospital. Thank goodness he's okay. I called Zing this morning and spoke with the manager. He was extremely rude, took no responsibility for not notifying the use of peanuts. All I asked was for him to put a sign up! He refused and said he doesn't have to list everything he cooks with. Never showed concern or compassion for my son either! I will never go back here and hopefully my review saves someone's life! read more

I was driving through the area trying to find some good food and came across this awesome place. The restaurant is a little small but perfect. It's exactly what that area needed. I wish that more people knew about it because it is truly delicious. I got the General Soe Bento Box (probably didn't spell that right). It came with miso soup, salad, California roll, and oranges. YASS!!! By far the best sushi Chester County. It has a modern, clean look throughout. Excellent interior designer. Small inside but feels spacious due to open design and light colors. Have been eating here about once a month since it opened and quality keeps getting worse and worse. I think they have too many menu options, cant turn over inventory fast enough and just arent serving fresh dishes anymore. Maybe if you order the most popular dishes it isnt as bad. We were so excited to have sushi and roast duck nearby and ordered regularly because we hoped they'd stay in business and keep offering these menu items, but as things have gone downhill we are more hesitant, and with our last order it just isnt worth it anymore. The price was always too high but we paid because we didnt have to drive 20-30 min out to get decent sushi, doesnt hit the bar anymore. We've ordered from Zing several times. We've had good orders from there and some not so good to bad orders. Today was the last time eating there. The price vs what you get today was enough. I ordered the Katsu Pork. For $17 it was literally 3oz (or less) of over cooked, chewy pork steak pounded between 1/8 and one 1/4 of an inch , left in fryer way too long and cut into strips (did your chef not notice how over cooked it was while slicing it)? . The breadcrumbs did not even appear to be Panko and no seasoning. It was not fried Japanese style Katsu, more corner deli pork cutlet (but not nearly as good). That lays on a little wilted bed of romaine lettuce a lemon wedge, a 2oz cup of a bottled sweet oyster sauce and a cup of brown rice.... for $17!? My wife's entire Bento Box was $19. The Katsu pork would have been just as bad if it cost $7 or less . The miso soup was another huge miss. I've had miso soup dozens of times, never tasted one like this. Bitter and unbalanced (too much miso paste). Done with this place, it's inconsistent kitchen and ridiculous pricing for poor quality. read more

We spent $25 on a very little amount of food. $12 worth of sushi should not fit in a 3x5 tray! Maki rolls were delish but overpriced! Crab Rangoon had BARELY anything stuffed inside ..basically we ate just fried empty shells. King Kong Wonton soup was good also but for 5 bucks it wasn't much at all! We were excited to try it and are disappointed. We won't be going back unless they offer more food for less money. I have spent less money in Philadelphia on the same cuisine. The inside has a modern upbeat finish to it. I ordered multiple rolls and appetizers and they all came out to my expectations based on other Sushi establishments I have been to. Let me first preface this post by saying that I eat sushi quite frequently.... First time visiting this establishment and I was to say the least not impressed ... A question about the first review cannot be true because they just opened today ... I ordered 2 simple items just to test the waters ... Shrimp tempura app and a California roll with tuna on top .... The tempura was below average being soggy when it should have been crispy... The roll was small for being $12 ... The rice in the roll was over cooked and very mushy... And at the sushi bar I witnessed a couple of health issue interns of how the surfaces of the sushi bar were cleaned with the same rag that was used to wipe the plates down.... In closing let me say this .. If you want overpriced sushi and want to leave a restaurant with a half full stomach and your pockets empty then this is the place for you read more

Experienced 20+ year sushi / dim sum / sashimi diner from Harrisburg. This was my first time dining at Zing. On a Friday at 9pm, we waited 15 mins for a table, which wasn't a problem for my group of 3. We brought our own wine and they served us some while we waited. Nice. Great, knowledgable server. Service was very quick and we placed 3 distinct food orders spanning approx. 30 mins apart. We ordered a taste testing smorgasbord and were very satisfied and happy with the dining experience. Loved the moyashi salad, Hong Kong won ton soup (handmade a scrumptious), spicy tuna tartare (wetter then some I've had, but really delicious and fresh), zing ceviche martini (unique and tasty), pork gyoza, shrimp gyoza (1 of the best I've had), and duck Singapore rice noodle soup (great broth). We also enjoyed the green dragon, amazing, and mango mania rolls. My friend lives minutes from the restaurant, so I'm thrilled to have this new option to the area and plan to become a regular patron. read more

While camping last weekend I didn't want the normal camp style foods, hamburgers and hot dogs and frankly I didn't feel like cooking anything. So I went on Yelp to see what was nearby that looked good. Zing was only 5 or so miles away and I was having a craving for Chinese so we drove over to check it out, they also had some good reviews. The parking lot was small and the inside was small but nicely decorated, very modern. It was not crowded so we could've sat just about anywhere. Our server was friendly and offered to explain items from the menu if we were unsure. I went with the chicken teriyaki bento box. That is served with miso soup, a salad, California roll, white rice and gyoza (looked like a pot sticker but had different stuff inside). I didn't try the soup but my boyfriend said it was good. The salad was okay, i'm not a fan of thicker dressings. The California roll was good. The gyoza and the chicken were great, they both had good flavor. I also tried a bite of my boyfriends dish, he got the general Tso chicken. That was delicious. Next time I will be ordering that. All in all it was a nice place and I would go again and maybe try the sushi. read more

Went here a few days ago... The waitress was very nice. However, they gave us the menu which included the sushi express menu, allowed us to order from it, and 10 minutes later told us that menu isn't available on weekends and we would need to choose something else. I just got sushi for take out. I got an Alaskan Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and a California Roll. They were delicious! I will definitely be going back there. If you like Wasabi and Ginger, make sure you ask for extra, I love Wasabi and I needed extra for my meal. Prices are a little more expensive than I am used to, but it was worth it since this area doesn't have a good Sushi restaurant around. Very disappointing experience today with this place that we have had ordered from many times. The food traditionally has been good and service decent which makes it palatable to pay their prices. Today has changed everything and my wife and I along with 3 sets of couples who are also our friends will not be going back. I ordered a meal, their Thai Mango Chicken along with a few other items for takeout. Picked up, brought home (30 minute trip) and when I opened my dish i saw it was the same dish I have ordered so many times. They either changed it or made a mistake. I called and upon asking about this the young lady on the other side of the phone automatically asked if I wanted it done the other way. I said yes at which time she replied that she has had a few people call and tell her that. No apology or offer to bring it back nothing. Just a response that she has heard that before and I will need to let them know in the future that I want it the original way. She let me know that they have a new chef and he thinks this is better. I said they should let people know of this change and she responded that with all their dishes it is hard to remember all the changes, again not an apology at all. She and the restaurant just do not seem to care at all about service but they want everyone to go to their Facebook page and like it and get the word out. Well I can tell you that I indeed will get the word out and at this time this restaurant has lost the business of 8 people not to mention who else we notify. You cannot have poor service and not care about your business, especially when you have repeat customers. Very disappointing. read more
