This review is for all the staff at the South Lamar location and Dr. Zee & Dr. Kingstad. We had to write a review after our most recent visit because we are so grateful for the extra time and care that went into our dog's appointment. Our pup has vet anxiety but Dr. Kingstad and Emily took their time to make sure we had a smart game plan and our dog was comfortable. After 3 failed attempts to get his bloodwork done this year *at another vet,* we switched gears and took our dog to ZippiVet. Dr. Kingstad got it on his first attempt, not even a hematoma! Thank you Emily and Dr. Kingstad for working with our boy. Lots of gratitude for you! Dr. Zee worked with our kittyboy earlier this year and we had nothing but good things to say about him. Our cat is not a fan of going to the vet, but Dr. Zee and his team were total pros and got bloodwork without a problem! I'm very impressed and have a lot of respect and trust for the South Lamar Zippi team. I have past experience working at another veterinary clinic and I'm confident that I know a good & compassionate team when I see one! Edit to add: I'm also a fan of the quality of vaccines they carry. TF for rabies canine and PureVax, adjuvant-free, for feline rabies.

Disorganized vet practice. Office is poorly ran. - Called 30 minutes prior to appointment to confirm - they confirmed - Arrived and the Doctor isn't here and they asked if I wanted to wait an hour or reschedule - First time visiting this "vet" office, lazy poorly managed first impression.

Staff was phenomenal! There was a gentleman waiting for my pup and I when we arrived (he opened the door for us upon entrance!) though, he said he doesn't typically stand by the door waiting for people to come in lol. A really nice woman took my pup's weight and helped Dr Z, who was also wonderful. He answered a ton of questions that I has prepared and played with my pup. Overall, fantastic experience! Genuine care for my pup

I hear so much from Dog people and Austin seems to cater to Dog care so much that Cats often seem to not get as much attention. How is Zippycare about Cats?

My usual vet, who we have been seeing since adopting the cat almost 2 years ago, rudely dismissed my concerns over the phone and insisted that I needed to pay an $80 office visit fee just to get an answer to my question over the phone (the question was "What does the PCR panel test for?"). I started calling every other vet in Austin to find a clinic that has experience with Tritrichomonas and that I felt comfortable with. Several clinics admitted that they did not know what the parasite was or had never treated it before. Another lied and said "oh, that is super easy to treat and really common and straightforward!" which I knew was not accurate from the empirical literature online. I finally found Austin Urban Vet and the experience we have had so far has genuinely been night and day different from pervious clinics. From the very first call, the AUV team was empathetic to our situation, VERY transparent about pricing (they provided it in writing), and explicitly clear about which PCR diagnostic panel they use at AUV and exactly what it tests for. They were open and honest about their experience with Tritrichomonas and I immediately felt at ease and confident in the care that they could provide my cat. After chatting with my partner about my findings from calling almost every vet in Austin, we both agreed Austin Urban Vet was the best one to move forward with, so we made an appointment. Right off the bat, I was happy to find that AUV has a private parking lot (for free!). I headed inside with my cat and the team at the front desk was so kind and helpful. They quickly checked me in and invited me to grab a bottle of water or make myself a cup of coffee as I waited for the tech to take us into the room. We waited for maybe ~5 minutes before the tech took us to the exam room, where she scanned my cat for her microchip, weighed her, and asked questions about the presenting problem, history, etc. Dr. Helen was who attended us for the exam itself, and she was so kind and thorough. I really felt that she was providing genuine feedback, and she was honest about her experience with this parasite. She was transparent about the treatment plan and let me know her general thoughts (Ie., "If she is still positive, we will do X. If she is negative, we can try Y.") We are now waiting for the PCR results, but so far, I am so happy with our experience and feel confident that Dr. Helen will provide us with the best care possible.

Its rare that I write reviews but... As well as ~most~ techs/assistants being very helpful.....I am not sure what is going on but one of the front desk lady's at check in was rude (just saw she has many complaints on here lol) when I visited yesterday, she gave multiple people attitude for no reason, I understand what its like to work in a busy and stressful environment and the way she handled it was not it that definitely doesn't feel good for anyone that already has things going on with their dog/cat .. aside from that I was helped by a young man that at first seemed good until when he seemed like he knew what my pup had right off the bat and did Not steer away from his opinion. I didn't even really want him in the room anymore because it was very odd that he didn't want to ask any more basic questions or even take a look at the pup until the vet came in, it gave unprofessional. the veterinarian on the other hand was amazing , definitely a full 180. then it came to a nail trim.. I also requested this for the pup bc his nails were definitely out grown and it was time. instead of taking a look at the pups nails he immediately states "his nails are fine. do you see that pink? yeah I cant cut that." ( the nail is far from it, but he seemed new and my pups nails are black so I let it go) I asked if he could clip the ones he could and he brought in another tech and they went as fast as they could... only went ahead to clip the declaws and left. this may have been a rare occurrence but if my pup wasn't seen with basic care from techs and the the vibe wasn't welcoming... well I will not be returning to this location anymore.

SOUTH PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL is now owned by a VENTURE CAPITAL FIRM called National Veterinary Associates, which in turn is owned by JAB Holding company, JAB has tripled in size since it started buying up vets and charging confiscatory prices, taking advantage of our love of our pets. I gave them two stars because at least they did my cat right and he's fine now. BUT they started burying me in pitch emails too, trying to feed fear about my cat's health, constantly trawling me for more money, more money, more money, all while pretending to care about my cat when they don't. If the people at South Park Animal Hospital really loved animals as much as they love MONEY, they wouldn't have sold out. But they did. I will never go back and suggest you don't start.
