Food Lion - Who knows how long that milk has been there? On another aisle was ice cream in a cart that had clearly been long abandoned.

I stopped at this location just to grab a bottle of alkaline water! There was a very kind employee who wished everyone a pleasant day leaving the store that was standing by the registers as soon as you checked out! That was a nice gesture to make towards the customers. I would definitely recommend and return here at another date..

Depending on the…read moretime of day, you should plan on bringing in your own cart from the parking lot, especially if it is raining or excessively hot outside. For only the most valued and important customers, they provide priority parking in the fire lane, which is particularly full as customers make groceries on their way home from work. Selection is limited at this location, but if you request an item via the website, they eventually start stocking it. The challenge is finding enough customers to sustain the purchase or else it is discontinued. Basic economics. Unfortunately, the deli hours are not posted anywhere, so one never knows if it is actually open, regardless of whether or not there are employees behind the counter. Be sure to check expiration dates before going to checkout. This customer has brought home more than one item which, while putting away, was discovered to have expired. Despite going through all the proper channels and multiple attempts for a status update, no refund has been issued to date (over a month at the time of this writing). Be cautious about purchasing any meat or dairy products from this location, as many items are often found on random shelves. In their defense, this is indeed the fault of lazy customers, not the employees, but ultimately there is no assurance that the product has not spoiled. While the general tenor of this review is negative, there are a few employees who deserve commendation. Teresa is a refreshing delight, an honest and humble cashier, who always greets with professionalism and a seemingly genuine concern for customer satisfaction. Also, although I regrettably do not know his name, I guarantee you there is not an employee at this location who works harder than the older black gentleman. By all outward appearances, his body inhibits the fullest expression of his abilities, but his work ethic is, nevertheless, undeterred. Both of these individuals hail from a more dedicated generation, who take pride in the quality of their work, a testament to those of younger years, among whom I count myself. If only their coworkers would strive to this level of service. In summary, this location is not the best, but also far from the worst. One small oasis in a growing desert of food resources, they have fallen victim to their surroundings but, one hopes, still have a fighting chance to help lead the community into a better position.

I got to say, I've become such a fan of this place!…read more Thank god a new Aldi is opening up REAL soon near my house because this is my new go-to! I walked in here to find everyone so pleasant and everything so clean! The aisles feel nice and open. I couldn't help but think of Trader Joe's and later found out Aldi and Trader Joe's are RELATED. Makes sense now, although ALDI's has more items for the home. They both have their pros and cons, however, I purchase a lot of items yesterday and only spent around $20. It's rare I spend that amount at TJ's. Aldi's just might become my new favorite market, they have nifty items at a reasonable price. (I picked up some Jalapeno bacon the other day for 2.99!)

I have been passing by these stores in almost every city in Hampton Roads Virginia ( don't ask me where it got that name because I don't have a clue,I'm not from this area ) but as I was saying I passed by this supermarket chain countless times and never purchased anything that I can remember but I finally decided to give them a try and I brought a loaf of bread and some blueberries ( I love them ). The store didn't have a huge variety of items ti chose from but they have all your basic needs like bread, eggs, pastries, juice beverages etc etc. I would come again to make a purchase if needed but if you noticed I left out a star and that's because you should have your own bag or a shopping cart with you at the time of your purchase and of course I didn't have either so... some may say that's my fault but in my defense I had no idea!.

The store consistently delivers decent savings on everyday grocery staples while still offering a strong selection of fresh produce, quality meats, packaged goods, and household essentials. It strikes a good balance between value and quality, which is exactly what I'm looking for. I find good prices on meat (both butcher cuts and deli), and packaged frozen staples. I'm able to use both paper coupons and digital offers here, and I take advantage of the Commissary CLICK2GO system to clip deals and order online when I want to streamline the trip. Being on base at a major naval shipyard facility, it's especially convenient for active duty, retirees, and dependents in the area. Overall, it feels like a full-service grocery store that's genuinely designed around affordability and accessibility for the military community, without the chaos that some of the larger locations have. It's located on base at 1717 Deldonna Street, Portsmouth, VA 23709, so I always make sure my car and credentials are set for base access before heading over. open to all ID Card holders. I am big on fresh produce, it simply is not as fresh here compared to Food Lion and even Walmart produce. Every time I buy produce it is either rotting by the next day, Kale is expiring the next day and so forth. Fresh bags of salad smell rotten when I open them, I have finally stopped buying produce here. I recently purchased raspberries, came home, opened the box, All raspberries were covered in mold that you couldn't view from the top of the packaging. I tried to order a birthday cake from their bakery only to be told they basically couldn't do any type of decorations because they did not have a cake decorator. I'm not sure why they have a cake book full of decorated cakes that they are supposed to be able to design continually displayed...Other than that, prices are ok, my husband feels it is cheaper to shop at Food Lion. We always seem to use the self checkout because we would rather not have to tip the baggers who don't let you bag your own groceries. Basically, we avoid coming to this commissary and will continue to do so until things change. The only positive thing is that staff is friendly.
