Zippy's is always my first stop when I come "home" for vacation. We usually go to the Kapolei location but they're currently closed for renovations. I love their local food and orange bang drink. The service was excellent and our server was attentive and friendly. My only gripe for almost all their locations is that the bathroom has to be updated as their water faucets are push to operate which is annoying and ridiculous because why would anyone want to touch a facet that everyone touches, especially when you're trying to clean / wash your hands? I was running late to go to the airport and decided to order a zip pack for the plane ride. As we all know there's nothing worse than being stuck on a five-hour flight and completely starving. It's not that I don't appreciate the Hawaiian Airlines meal, but inevitably there's always someone right next to me with a bento and I spend the entire flight wishing I had planned better. The zip pac is a good sized bento with rice, takoan, teri beef, spam, deep fried fish and fried chicken. I have had better bentos in my lifetime (mostly made my little old Japanese ladies) but this one ranks high on the list for convenience and it's super filling. I called ahead to order take-out and to my delight as I pulled into the parking lot I realized there was a drive-thru window for phone orders. GODSEND!!! I drove up to the window and a worker took my payment. So easy, quick and thankfully it got me to the airport in time for my flight. I got to the airport only to find my luggage was six pounds over and I ended up having to stuff a bunch of stuff into a bag and carry it on the plane. Then as I ran to the security checkpoint I dropped my bento bag, but luckily, although my food was all mixed up it all stayed in the bag. I then stood in the slowly moving life sucking awesomeness that is TSA and then hurriedly walked to my gate. After I finally boarded the plane and sat down in my seat, I passed out from total life exhaustion. The stress of packing my bags that morning, rushing to the airport and an overscheduled week had finally gotten to me. I woke up about two hours later from my nap and was completely overjoyed to be greeted by my shaken up Zippy's bento. I have never been so happy to eat teri-beef and spam in my whole entire life! Came here last night and it was the worst experience! On top of waiting 45 minutes for a phone order that we've already placed in advance we still had to wait when we got here for our food. Our meal came out to about 60 dollars. They forgot our clam chowder, Corn bread pieces, and utensils. On top of that food was cold. I called back to speak to a manager and waited 20 minutes on hold to speak with one and ended up not even speaking to one because no one picked up. I got my Zippy's cherry popped exactly one year ago and boy I have NO complaints!! This particular location is right around the corner from my in-laws house and literally walking distance. What's there not to love about Zippys? Yes, some locals say nowadays,they've become a little overpriced but it didn't stop me from coming here FOUR.... Count them 1-2-3-4 days in a row!!!! Always loved the food here, my favorite Zippy's to bring my mainland family. Fortunately we left disappointed and shamed that my family didn't like it because the younger waitress took awhile to come up to get our order. Never checked on us, had to asked the waitress that seats everyone down to get our waitress we didn't get our drinks till 20 mins later after bugging the other waitress at other tables. When I'm tired, don't want to cook and on my way home, I make a stop here. I've had some of the specials, which are rotated and found on their website. My go to are Chili with rice (my favorite!), Surf Pac and Korean Chicken plate. Prices are average and a bit pricey on some items. Many of of the plates, you can choose a mini or full plate. Their Mac Salad is my favorite. Wait can vary on the time you go, dinner or breakfast. My wait time varied from 10 minutes to 20 minutes. They have a drive thru and only I used it once, but you need to call in your order. A place to come for take-out. read more

This is my favorite Zippy's location on the island. Why, you might ask? They have amazing customer service, always fast and they make the order right. Even on the weekends there usually isn't a wait. We are in and out, fed and happy in 30 mins. If you don't live in Ewa this location is obviously way out of the way. My favorite is the loco moco. They used to offer fried rice with it but recently it's only been white or brown. Still ono either way! The waitresses refill the coffee without missing a beat. I previously had an unpleasant experience at another location. The Zippy's PR is beyond amazing, she quickly resolved my complaint and was very kind and understanding. Being familiar with your location and frequenting this restaurant doesn't allow me to overlook this experience. I much prefer waiting for my food inside your restaurant without crazy people that talk to themselves strolling through without second glances from you or your employees. Furthermore, I am sincerely grateful that, upon my leaving your establishment, there was a large group of people doing the same that parked next to me. As a single woman, at night, in your parking lot, being approached and followed by a crazy man talking to himself (that had been wandering through your restaurant numerous times) doesn't give me much hope for the future, and I don't think I would have been so lucky were it not for the others nearby. Since discovering this local's favorite chain I've been hooked! It's got a little bit of everything from saimin, fried chicken, BBQ, eggs, spam & rice, pancakes to the variety of yummy desserts. It reminds me of the Hawaiian version of Denny's but BETTER! They're practically everywhere on Oahu so I was very disappointed there isn't one on Kauai. I'm having a Zippy withdrawal...the zip pac! There was one time I went when I waited less than five minutes, but the other tens of times, I've waited ten to fifteen minutes. This can be pretty frustrating. Customer service seems pretty good. One of the managers is always very friendly, and I've seen her deal with picky customers, giving refunds or replacing meals. She has much more patience than I do. I've only eaten on the dine-in side a few times. The selection is wider, the portions are better, by the prices are a bit higher, as to be expected. Took my Big Island visitors to Ewa Zips yesterday for lunch before heading off to the airport. Both sides were very busy and the parking lot was packed. Ordered 2 wun tun mins, prime burger, and a zip pac. My guests said the 2 wun tun mins were ono, much better than the ones the have when the visit the Hilo location. My zip pac was good except for the fact that the rice was cold at room temperature, not even warm. Service was a bit slow as there were only 2 counter staff, and only 2 people in the kitchen, our order took about 15 minutes to come out. The kitchen side seemed to be the side that needed the help as the counter was waiting on the prime burger while the rest of the food sat on the counter. Had a bad experience here tonight. I ordered online, got at the cashier, and was told they ran out of cornbread, I said it's fine. While waiting for my order, I checked my receipt and one plate was missing. Went to the same cashier and asked her about the missing plate but she couldn't find the order on her end. That's when she started giving me attitude so I said it's ok just ring me up the order that was missing. She rolled her eyes and walked out on me. I called the manager and talked to her about how her staff treated me. The manager was apologizing for how the staff treated me. It's not an excuse that she was tired or having a bad day to treat people especially customers badly. The food at Zippy's is consistently good, you can't go wrong. The service at the Ewa restaurant is really lacking. Went there Saturday night around 7pm. It wasn't even crowded. We had to ask for water, the food took a long time and when it did arrive it wasn't hot. Our server named Erica didn't come around to refill our water. I'm normally generous when I tip, this was the ONLY instance where I didn't leave a tip. That's how dissatisfied we were. My girlfriend called the manager when we got home. read more

Take out takes awhile because they're always very busy. I've found it better to call in a phone order and give it time before picking it up. They also have a "drive-thru" for picking up phone orders. The zip pac we ordered was ready when I got there to pay but I found it ridiculous that I had to wait an additional 15 minutes to wait for my saimin...MY SAIMIN! i have an ex who used to work at Zippys and even before I knew how long it would take to make the saimin, I would think it'd be one of the easiest items on the menu to make other than their premade chili. But yeah, I had to wait another 15 minutes for my saimin, I overheard the people in the front remind the cooks in the back to make my saimin about 3 times. Oh & a lot of the time, the employees in the front were often talking to each other by the window where they grab the phone from the cooks even when there was a customer waiting to order...talk about unprofessional. At one of my jobs, one of the rules was to never face your back to the register which made so much sense for various reasons. Regardless of COVID zippys EVERYTIME serves me raw eggs. I always order scrambled and it's always raw like I'm sure this happens to a lot of people. Like why??? Im usually not a KAREN but called and complained about it maybe three times already. The managers are really understanding and they always offer me a free meal or to remake. Which they personally end up making themselves and the eggs come out fine. So again today I'm giving zippys the benefit of the doubt about there eggs and I order Portuguese sausage with scrambled eggs and rice. Again the eggs are raw! My family and I went to have dinner at Zippys in Ewa Beach last night 1/24/22 around 8:30pm. I would like to acknowledge our TERRIFIC server JADELYN !! She was awesome from the time we walked in, til the time we walked out. She acknowledged us as HUMANS not as customers. She treated my children with the same respect and dignity as she did my husband and I. She was a tad bit busy, but it NEVER showed in her service. She made sure to go above and beyond for everything we asked for and ordered. I would like for a manager to please show this review to Jade and let her know she is doing a WONDERFUL job !! Both my husband and I are in the food service industry and we were both VERY PLEASED to see that there are other servers who take their service job to the hospitality level.
