WARNING!! WARNING!! Do not waste your $$$$ at this Zippys location. Apparently since the William Henry location closed down this place cannot handle the "extra" customers. Or at least that was the excuse an employee told me. First off tried calling in to place an order and couldn't even get someone to answer the phone. After 10 mins of ringing I was already in the parking lot and just hung up. Walked in and it was pure chaos. A dozen people impatiently waiting and a dozen more in line. All I wanted was a mixed plate. Took 25 mins for my plate to come out. Almost lost my appetite. When I finally did get home and opened my plate it was so disappointing. Great diner in Kaneohe. My hash browns were crispy on the outside and piping hot, sweet bread French toast and coffee very tasty. My husbands mushroom burger came as ordered and the Mac salad delicious. It's always fun to go home w a treat from the bakery too. read more

If you ever eat in the restaurant portion of Zippy's Kaneohe, don't EVER sit in Chevy's section. If you are in her section, ask to be seated elsewhere. She is an absolutely horrible waitress and should not be in the food service industry. Period. She took over 15to minutes after we were seated to even bring us water and see if we were ready to order. Our food was brought by someone else and Chevy didn't even bother to come and check on us to see if we had everything (which we didn't). Then our check came and the bill was $36.31. When she was handed a senior citizen discount card she toom the check back and the revised check came out to $40. WTH??? And she couldn't explain why. I had to get a manger for an explanation. When we arrived, it was clear that Zippys was having a really busy day. However, their hostess Tracy had us seated within ten minutes. Not only that, we seen her more than our own waitress who was running all over the place herself. Aside from tending to us, getting our drinks, food order and bringing our food, she was doing it all over the restaurant. It was because of Tracy that we enjoyed our time there today. With all the running around, she kept a smile on her face and tended to every task without even asking any of the waiters/waitresses if they needed a hand. That made my day! read more

The wait staff never stopped hustling, but so few of them the wait for first approach was over 15 mins. Food came out so fast, that it could only be prepared ahead and microwaved. Not possible to fully cook a hamburger patty in 2 mins. Maybe management needs to hire more or schedule better. 3 stars are for the ladies who tried very hard to do it all. read more

New cook on the line so our food was below par. Undercooked hashbrowns, overcooked steak (it was like pipikaula), skimpy saimin garnishes and the saimin noodles were stuck together in a big clump! Usually we don't have to wait 20 minutes to get our food so it was an unusual visit. I know the problems will work themselves out and I hope it's soon. Our long timer waitress was awesome! The grandson was flying in from the mainland, so I had to get chicken katsu for his lunch. I decided on Zippy's, thinking that it would be reliable. I wanted to time it so the katsu and the grandson would arrive home at about the same time. I called to place my order, and asked when it would be ready. "Fifteen minutes," I was told. I arrived at Zippy's at the appointed time. They knew about my order and took my money. And then I waited. And waited. They were busy, but I was able to ask about my order, explaining that I had called it in. I got a puzzled look back, and they went back to their business. So I waited. And waited. And asked again. And then waited . . . For 37 minutes! For a phone order! Why take phone orders you're not going to even start on them until after the customer comes in? By the way, the katsu was ok. Zippys is our late night go to when we have had a long busy day and no time to cook. Our favorite items on the menu are fried chicken, spaghetti, the husband always get the chili moco. They will customize it to your liking, there will be a variation in price. My daughter likes their french toast with two strips of bacon. My son just eats whatever I eat. Sometimes we get saimin too, especially when its cold, but than again its pretty cold at this Zippys location. I alway tell my kids to bring a sweater and wear long pants. read more

Nothing worse than eating sticky rice with half cooked Portuguese sausage. I might as well eat the dang thing raw. I saw that they were rushinf but my order shoyld have been prepared better. Well lets start with the wait to be seated. That was a good 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and greeted. After that another 6 to 7 minutes to be seated.there were 4 or 5 open tables only 1 was clean and wiped. We were sat and waited 10 minutes before we were able to order. I believe the waitress was trying as she offered drinks as we sat. So we finally ordered and the gearing was set and we waited then 34 minutes before the children's food arrived. The adults about 5 minutes later. The food looked good but was just warm. It would have been better hot and I wouldn't have minded the wait. This leads me to believe it was sitting on their pass through a while before coming to us.the zip min I ordered was all clumped together. I had to shake them loose with the chopsticks before eating.it had very little garnish inside and wasn't very appetizing and took much effort to eat.the server did not come back to check on us so I got up and asked the manager for the hot mustard I was missing and a refill for my sons drink. He personally brought it to us. When finished we waited for 10 minutes before the server came to ask if we'd like dessert. Maybe 15 minutes later the desserts came and we enjoyed them. We were done and waiting for another 10 minutes or so for the check. That's a total of 104 to 106 minutes of waiting for something. We were eating for 30 minutes so the experience lasted over 2 hours. Food not hot enough and poor quality of product. I can understand at 85% capacity but with 5 servers, a busser, and a manager come on. This place used to have great teamwork but everyone seemed like they were on an island. I believe my server was busy and tried her best. I believe the busser needed to support the floor better. I believe that if the food is ready it should be delivered hot and fresh. I believe the manager needs to direct and keep the flow going. I believe teamwork in getting the first available check whose food is ready by the first server that looks at the check should take the food out. All in all teamwork and quality suffered. Come here every Thursday night for family dinner. Love the service and the food. Always feel at home when I come here. Patrick or Landon are my go to guys when I walk in. The moment they see me they already get my order started. Noticed lately that they have been getting more and more crowded during the week nights. This is the worst zip pack I ever had. The teri beef had no taste, The mahi was buried under the chicken and was broken up. They didn't even fill the bottom of container with rice, which really didn't matter cause it was mushy anyways. And they want to charge $8.75 for this. I received great service here today. It changed from my last experience here. Which is something I want to talk about. A lot of people order korean fried chicken, and my group of friends were waiting for our plates. One of the workers (Cherish) kept calling out a number and it wasn't any of ours. I think someone might have mixed it up. Although, she asked if anyone still didn't receive their plate and my friend was one of them. She claimed and cherish points as if she's giving the plate and drops it on the table and pushed it to my friend, which almost fell. Ordered online last night at 7:15. Was informed my order would be ready in one hour -- wow, really that long??! All I ordered was 2 plates-chili w/fried chix, all salad & Korean Chix chili plate, all salad. I indicated on my order to put salad dressings for both plates as well as the Korean chix sauce on the side. Also, I did not check off that I needed cutlery -- I like using my own. When the plates came home, no salad dressings and no Korean sauce to be found. However, they did pack the plastic cutlery and some tarter sauce -- for what, I have no idea. Luckily I had some salad dressing at home. Food was cold like it was left out for a half hour or something. The only thing I was happy about was my fried chicken was moist and skin was relatively crunchy. Seems that the person that puts the order together needs to pay more attention to detail. Not a place to go for anything. This the third time I have asked for cold Zippy's chili. Each time you need to wait for them to get it cold for you. They should just say that they don't have any and not offer it. They do not check on you to notify you that they cannot complete your order. Great Customer Service with tonights take out meal! Its not that good service is uncommon, but this was such a pleasant surprise! Seriously, being like most locals here, Ive been to the various Zippy's across the island more than enough times to know its a place for that certain comfort food you know and can get whenever. Your expectations are generally not high and your coming just for that one thing. Tonight, there was the usual line and wait of 20 minutes or so. After sitting and waiting for most of the wait and buying the obligatory bakery goods, we were told our food was ready. The lady (who was also our cashier and remembered what we ordered!) went through our entire order, opening each container to make sure it was correct. She even opened my Won Tun Min and sifted through it with a utensil to make sure it wasn't just a large saimin and missing the main ingredient! She then apologized for and thanked us for our wait and bid us a good evening...Awesome! That was why this is a 4 star review! read more

I always eat zippy's makiki but just so happened we were out in Kaneohe visiting the in laws. We casually parked and went to the dine-in area. We stood waiting for a table and no one acknowledged us even though there were open seats. A waitress told us,"try wait..." And walked away. "Okay." So we decided to go to take out side. We get there and there was a customer picking up a phone order and a cashier. The customer leaves. Awesome, cause I am next in line. The cashier then walks away and proceeds to talk with 3 other coworkers counting money and cashing out a register. Stood there for 5 minutes and only then the cashier comes back and tells me sorry, not looking at me but her money in her hand. Telling money sorry in front of a customer isn't the best thing to do. This is right up there with kahala zippy's. I left and headed back into town to go see Millie at makiki zippy's. read more
