Great customer service, the young gentlemen who took our order was super friendly and professional. Food was flavorful and fresh. More on the pricier side but worth it. Would def recommend this place if you're looking for a burger

They have a few outdoor tables plus seating inside. Upbeat music. Order at the counter. It was about a 15 minute wait for the food when I was there. The burger was cooked as requested and there are good topping options (though they aren't cheap). The fries were great - seasoning was on point and it comes with a yummy aioli for dipping. FYI: They offer kama'aina discount!

Relaxed environment with delicious burgers with fresh local ingredients and friendly staff.

Big Island Burger delivered one of the best burgers I've had in a while. It was easily my favorite meal on my Hawaiian vacation. All of the ingredients are locally sourced, and it shows. The burger patties were thick and juicy, smothered in your choice of cheese. I had the double with Tillamook cheddar and pepperjack, their creamy aioli, and pickled jalepenos. I devoured the entire burger! My only regret it that I didn't go back another day for more!

Drawn in by the local ingredients and grass fed beef. We went with a double and some fries and shared it to make it more cost effective because the price tags are pretty high here. No restrooms inside, gotta use a code and go to the second floor of the neighboring food hall. We were quickly greeted as we entered the establishment. The lady at the counter also advised us that they cook the burgers to medium rare. The burger was delicious. Nice and juicy and flavorful. The fries were good as well, but definitely need to double the portion for the price. While we do appreciate the quality of food, this would be a place that would we would come as a special treat. I wont knock off any stars because I do understand that quality and location are a factor in pricing.

The big island beef tastes fresh and really good quality. I had a bunch of burgers in Waikiki and this was by far the best. The prices weren't bad and you have a lot of options on how you want to customize. The fries were all really good.

A little expensive but might genuinely be one of my favorite burgers OAT. I got the single ring of fire with caramelized onions. The meat had a nice crispy sear to perfection, and inside i asked for medium rare, it was so juicy. The chili sauce they put on it was fire too. AND the fries were really really good too. I wish I ordered a double burger and there were more fries.

Fantastic! This is definitely not FAST food, but boy is it tasty! My wife got a Black Bean Burger and I got The Ring of Fire. Both were very tasty. Mine had a good amount of heat, so if you can't do a 4/5 at an Asian Restaurant, this may be a bit hot for you. I loved it! My wife's Black Bean was also very good. Fun and friendly service and indoor seating with lots of open airflow.

OVERALL: BEST burgers I've ever had! So fresh and juicy! FOOD: the patties are 100% organic and 100% beef and you can taste it in the flavor. The menu options are well balanced. The fries were a little too thin and crispy and I wasn't a fan of the aioli but it wasn't bad just not for me. VENUE: spacious with lots of seating options and the staff were friendly

By far one of the best burgers I've had in years! The flavor was amazing and perfect medium-rare cook (the way I ordered it). I highly recommend

Nice burger in Waikiki, right across from the Ross. Everything is ala carte. Ordered the double cheeseburger $20.99, bacon was extra $1.99, as well as the fries $7.49. Burger was very good, albeit expensive. Several tables inside and outside. Service was friendly and efficient. They do offer a 15% kami'aina discount with ID.

This place is a hidden gem. Restaurant is nice and clean, service was very friendly. Guy at the register took my order explained all the options and add ons and made small talk all while doing it. Food came out fast and was delicious. I come to Hawaii every other month for work and frequent the island quite a bit and this is the best burger I've had in Honolulu by far!

    Yuna J.

Cool place, love that the patties are grass-fed. Taste-wise nothing special. Couldn't actually tell it was smash style. It was a good meal, service was good, fun vibes. Fries are definitely overpriced for how much you get but tasty. Would give it a solid 3.5/5!

I know what you're thinking, grilled cheese ? Seriously ? Out of the food in Hawaii this is one thing you choose to try for dinner ? And I would say yes every time. This grilled cheese has a special place in my food palette. I have not found another grilled cheese anywhere else in all the places I have been at that replicates this delicious flavor and taste. It was so good that I end up coming back for 4 days straight my stay in Hawaii ! I had the following below: *PATTY - 5/5 - It is the best grilled cheese I have ever had in my life ! It has a nice tasty beef patty, 4 cheeses (Cheddar, Mozzarella, Provolone, American) Caramelized onions, Bacon and Aioli sauce ! It was boasting with flavor ! Bread was soft, cheeses were boasting with flavor, aioli sauce was amazing. I really wish i paired this with their tomato dip ! I can only imagine how much this would've complimented the grilled cheese. The service was exceptional ! The establishment is a small so be sure to eat this on the go or they have small tables set up if you'd like to eat there !

The sandwiches came out quickly, were perfectly toasted, and had so much gooey, melted cheese. All of the toppings worked really well together and made every bite flavorful. Another big plus is that this was one of the few places open late at night, which made it a great option after a long day. The only downside was that it was a little difficult to find an open table since there's limited seating. Other than that, I'd definitely come back and highly recommend it!

She made us feel genuinely welcomed, took great care of us throughout our meal, and was quick, attentive, and friendly the entire time. Her excellent service made an already enjoyable visit even better. The food was fantastic. The burger was flavorful, juicy, and cooked perfectly, while the fries were extra crispy with a delicious garlic flavor that really stood out. Since it's an open-air restaurant, it was a little warm dining at around 1:00 p.m., but that was the only minor downside. Overall, everything was lovely, and Christine's outstanding hospitality made the experience memorable. I would definitely come back!

I ordered a Waimea burger which has two patties, cheese, sauteed onions, and bacon. It was good and came with some nice crispy fries. Deb ordered a child's meal with two little sliders and fries. We sat facing Kuhio and watched all the different people walking by. It was all very fun because some of them were funny to watch! It's interesting how some of the tourists will not venture outside of Waikiki and would only do so on a tour. I didn't expect much from this small corner diner, but everything turned out real solid! The exterior is especially entrancing, with its bright, rainbow neon sign that glows out the darkness of the night! The hooded interior was clean and followed well with the rainbow theme, especially with its rainbow pastel, title wallpaper. I would also like to compliment the workers, who were very nice and approachable! We ordered the loco moco plate, mixed plate, and saimin. Both plates were very filling and came in huge portions! The plates are for sure a top choice if you want a nice, hearty dinner! I especially enjoyed my loco moco! The saimin was less filling and came in an instant noodle cup. Still yet, it wasn't half bad--and it actually seems like a fairly good piece if you are on a diet or budget; it wasn't as expensive as the other dishes and only came out as 220 calories! I also want to note that they have a variety of tasty dessert pastries and icee treats if you are looking for a treat after your dinner. Overall, I would say this is a great diner to try if you've got a big appetite and are looking for something to share with a friend or family! Great vibes and great Hawaiian plate meals!

And we just can't go here anymore unless changes are made! We used to prefer them over Zippy's, but now they are less than 7-Eleven quality, while charging higher-end prices for the neighborhood. We have given them many chances, hoping it was just a fluke, but we have repeatedly been disappointed. Their chicken has become chewy and fatty, their rice is mediocre, and condiments such as mayonnaise are stripped down to the bare minimum quantity. Chile is poured so lightly that it is practically a minuscule amount. And their prices have continued to rise. I don't know if greedy people took over the restaurant who just don't care anymore, or what is going on. I remember when I used to take people here, and they would be impressed with the quality and quantity--plates just heaping with good cuts of meat, noodles, and rice. Those days are no more. As they say in Japan, the price performance is poor. Furthermore, their staff is rude. I can only imagine it was an owner working this day because it was a face I haven't seen that often. An older gentleman who appeared to be of Okinawan descent, working the cashier register, accosted us because I was privately discussing with my family about splitting different items with them. We were all ordering something, so he wasn't losing any money, but he told us about how prices are double in Waikīkī. First of all, it is rude to interrupt your customers that way. Secondly, we don't go to Waikīkī or care about Waikīkī. What happened to serving the locals? Third, Waikīkī has an assortment of restaurants, prices, and qualities, and they shouldn't be how you base your services. Lastly, I guarantee I could find a better deal in Waikīkī if I wanted to. Next time you're in the area, just go get a $6 bento or a $5 burrito from 7-Eleven next door. I assure you, the price performance and experience will be better. If Rainbow Drive-In is in the business of comparing themselves to other things, let's compare them to 7-Eleven and at least try to be better than them, right? I can get mochiko chicken from 7-Eleven for $6.99 that is similar in portion size and better quality. Meanwhile, they are serving their fatty, dry chicken for $16.75. Highway robbery! And they are not fancy, with their dirty picnic tables and plastic cutlery. They are just a step above a food truck, if that. Save yourself from the hype. They have gone downhill like a landslide. Go elsewhere.

Kono's Northshore Waikiki Absolutely Crushed It…read more While vacationing in Waikiki, I decided to stop by **Kono's Northshore Waikiki** before heading out to Waimanalo Beach, and I'm so glad I did. What I thought would be a quick breakfast stop turned into one of the most memorable meals of my trip. I ordered the **Triple Crown Sandwich**, and wow... this thing absolutely delivered. From the very first bite, it was obvious why Kono's has such a loyal following. The pulled pork was incredibly flavorful, tender, and perfectly seasoned. Every bite had that slow-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth quality that only comes from people who know exactly what they're doing. The flavors were rich without being overwhelming, and everything was balanced beautifully. The bread deserves its own round of applause. Too many sandwich places focus on what's inside and forget that the bread is just as important. Not here. The bread was fresh, soft, sturdy enough to hold everything together, and had the perfect texture to complement the pork. Every element worked together perfectly. The overall vibe of Kono's is exactly what you want while you're in Hawaii. Relaxed, welcoming, unpretentious, and authentic. There's something special about grabbing incredible food, chatting with friendly staff, and knowing you're about to spend the day enjoying one of the most beautiful islands in the world. I picked up my sandwich on the way to **Waimanalo Beach**, and honestly, it was the perfect move. After the drive over, sitting down and enjoying that Triple Crown before heading into the water absolutely hit the spot. It was one of those vacation moments that just feels right. Great food, ocean ahead, sunshine, and nowhere you need to be except the beach. As if the sandwich wasn't enough, I also tried the **breakfast burrito**, and it was every bit as impressive. Calling it "good" honestly doesn't do it justice. It was packed with flavor from start to finish. The pulled pork was phenomenal, and finding those smoky little bits of bacon throughout the burrito elevated it to another level. Every bite had a combination of savory, smoky, hearty goodness that made it nearly impossible to put down. It was filling without feeling heavy, rich without being greasy, and exactly the kind of breakfast you want before a day of exploring Oahu. What impressed me most was that nothing felt mass-produced. Everything tasted fresh, carefully prepared, and made by people who genuinely care about the quality of their food. In a tourist destination where it's easy for restaurants to rely on location alone, Kono's succeeds because the food actually lives up to the reputation. The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the value was excellent, especially considering the quality you're getting. By the time I reached Waimanalo Beach, I was completely fueled up and ready for an amazing day. After a swim in those crystal-clear waters, I found myself still thinking about that sandwich. That's usually the sign of a great meal. Kono's isn't just serving food. They're serving the kind of meal that becomes part of your Hawaii memories. If you're staying in Waikiki, heading to the North Shore, going to the beach, or simply looking for one of the best breakfast or lunch options on Oahu, do yourself a favor and stop at Kono's. The Triple Crown Sandwich is outstanding. The breakfast burrito is phenomenal. The pulled pork is some of the best I've had anywhere. And the entire experience captures the laid-back, flavorful spirit of Hawaii. This wasn't just one of my favorite meals in Waikiki. It was one of my favorite meals of the entire trip. **Mahalo, Kono's. I'll be thinking about that Triple Crown Sandwich long after I leave Hawaii.**
