Tucked away, hidden in lower Kalihi, right on Republican Street, came across this food truck while waiting for the business across the street to open. Was perfect timing, hungry, never eat breakfast. Felt bad cuz was kind of parking right in front his food truck, felt like I was blocking, so we checked it out. Found out they was previously located on Cartwright Road in Waikiki between Paoakalani and Kapahulu, right by job, and I never bothered. I find it so coincidental to come across it in the boonies of kalihi lol Any way, no can go wrong with Wagyu. Not much choices, simple menu, but I ended up ordering a mini number 1, regular steak plate, and the wife ordered the number 4. I would say, was not bad. Like any other fast food steak joint like Blazin steaks. Did its job, fed the belly to make happy opu. Oh yeah, we ended up smashing right outside the truck, there's a cute little utility shelf with couple bar stools around for table. Made ourselves comfortable, and smashed. Yeah, was not bad. The reason why missing a star is cuz the wife said she paid, gave the money, I guess he got busy and must've forgot, but she was waiting for her change, and he never gave it. She even put a $10 bill in his tip jar, and even while we were outside of his truck eating, no change. But all good. Was only small change anyway, but still. Anyway, if u hungry for steak in the kalihi area, and like eat something else besides McDonald's sand island and Alicia's, check em out. My husband planned on having a completely different meal when we arrived at the Ohana Hale Food Truck Park. Once we had a taste of the #1 wagyu steak plate, he completely changed his mind (and until that moment, I didn't really know what I wanted to eat). Stumbled across this absolute gem today. I literally took the wrong turn and noticed the Wagyu beef flyer posted to the fence so decided what the heck, it's lunch time let me just try it out. I knew I made the right decision when I walked up and was greeted by a nice Japanese man. BEST. DECISION. EVER! The beef literally melts in your mouth!! Comes on a bed of rice, corn, grilled onions and kimchi. I couldn't even wait to eat it (hence why no photos of the plates ‍) I will 100% be back again & I've already told multiple people about this truck becuase it's literally a hidden GEM. It's just unfortunate that the location is off the beaten path and you have to intentionally look for the truck. But I promise you, you won't regret stopping here! read more

Went to the Lanakila event and ordered a steak plate ($21.99 w/tip) one hour before the truck closed. Waited 20 minutes for one plate. Got home and was very disappointed not only did I receive a curry wagyu plate, the wrong plate and priced cheaper and then what I paid. But I got 4 tiny nickle size slivers of steak, the grisle ends. If you are going to close earlier (2pm) than the closing time (3pm) because you run out of food, just be honest and disclose that you don't have enough steak to complete an order that a customer pays. But please don't charge them for a steak plate and give them curry with 4 pieces of nickle sized steak bites. Really disappointed! read more

Many thanks to Yelpers for leading us to the AWE! I enjoyed two dinners at AWE during my stay in Waikiki. The first time I split the Beef Lover with my husband. It was a hearty, delicious trio of beef curry, shaved beef with onions and sliced beef over rice with corn and a small amount of cabbage. The beef is so tender and perfectly seasoned. Just delicious! We went back two days later and shared a beef curry. The beef curry had sold out as an entree but we enjoyed the portion we had in our Beef Lover so we were happy that it wasn't sold out the 2nd time we went back. I am visiting from Orange County and these food trucks were next to the Air Bnb. I could smell the goodness from the 4th floor. I went the first night and got the big Wagyu steak plate, it was so delicious! I went back the next night and brought my Dad, he got the Wagyu steak this time I got the Wagyu beef bowl. Once again, so tender and delicious. I don't normally eat Kimchi but I ate all of this! This food is some of the best I've eaten while visiting Hawaii. We more or less stumbled across this place after noticing several food trucks on the street outside of our hotel. Having heard of Wagyu beef hundreds of times but never actually trying it, I was immediately interested in the menu. There are multiple 'plate lunch' style offerings but we opted to go for the combination plate which has all 3 styles of meat. My favorite by far was the sliced steak. Not that the other two weren't good - they were all tasty. But that sliced steak was just so tender and flavorful. If I was eating there again I'd personally go for the full sized entree of just that variety. The sides in the meal are a little lacking (plain white rice, plain corn, and plain cabbage); but let's be honest, the real star here is the meat. Overall 8/10 - would come back again. read more

We selected the curry rice (regular size) and the mini wagyu plate. They offer three portion sizes for the menu items they serve. The cuisine was delectable, and I would certainly consider returning to the food truck. I am of the opinion that it was a reasonable price in comparison to the prices of cuisine in Waikiki. American wagyu is the subject of discussion in numerous comments that have been posted on this site. Japanese cows are referred to as "wagyu." Folks, there is no such thing as American Wagyu. Japanese is the meaning of the term "wa." Cow is the translation of the term "gyu." In order to be classified as Wagyu, the cow must be bred and reared in Japan. Good price for Wagyu beef meals. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, yet open other days in the evenings until 8:30pm. I ordered the regular wagyu plate $18.50, which comes with rice, cabbage, and corn. Substituted the rice for extra cabbage (dressed lightly in a salty sesame oil dressing) and added a side order of kimchi (extra $1). Sprinkled my corn with Japanese red pepper togarashi flakes too. Wagyu beef seemed to have been cooked via sous vid, as you can see the even lines from medium to medium rare in each slice. Wish they could have charred the outside just a bit, but overall a good deal for all you get. You could easily miss this food truck alley/street if you stick to the beachside food venues. We stayed at the Hyatt place next door and kept checking to see if they were open. I don't think they keep consistent opening hours. Luckily saw that they were open Friday at 6pm and ran over to order. Chef was on double duty working the cashier and cooking the food. Super busy but wasn't stressing the growing line and was still very kind. Truck is newly painted black and looks clean on the outside. First truck you see on the line of food trucks. My husband ordered the steak plate medium rare and since I'm pregnant I asked for the wagyu lovers combo well done. Surprisingly my well done steak was still very tender and delicious! Would definitely recommend. Took it to the beach and this was one of our more memorable meals this vacation. read more

So this is a food truck located in an aisle surrounded by other food trucks next to a Hilton, which is why street parking was limited. It's ran by the NICEST chef! I was being super extra by taking videos in an attempt to become an IG food influencer (LOL) and the chef literally opened both plates and held it out for my camera Such a sweet, sweet man. You can't get better service anywhere else! The prices are quite incredible too, and the FOOOOD oh man the food! I got the traditional steak plate and devoured it. Hubby got the combo which allows you to try the steak, gyudon (beef bowl), and curry and LEMME TELL YOU that curry was the best damn bowl of Japanese curry I've ever had!! Yo I don't know what they put in the sauce but it's nice and dark, darker than the normal brown ones. And the best part is the chunks of steak that literally fall apart with a poke of the fork. Dare I say I liked it even better than the regular steak?! Definitely try to snag this plate if you can. We arrived around 7:00-7:30 or so and hubby managed to get the last combo plate so they definitely do run out before closing time.
