#1 Wagyu steak plate - Wagyu, Maui Onion, corn, chopped lettuce
    Parker L.

This place has the best wagyu plates that I found in the island. I tried all the food trucks next to this one and by far the American Wagyu Eatery had the highest quality food and very well priced! The service is great, the staff are very kind. They have several picnic tables in the shade to eat at. 10/10 next time I'm in Waikiki and need a quick bite I'm going here.

Staff Super nice and welcoming when we walked up , and accommodated our order as well. The food was definitely worth the price, even better than expected . The set up was clean and warm. They even drew a cute thank you picture on the box ! Thanks again!

Delicious Wagyu meals, tasty elote corn, and great kimchi. The staff is amazing and very friendly. Wonderful experience in Waikiki. Make this place a stop for a tasty meal on your vacation. You will be very happy you stopped by. Aloha!

Stumbled across this absolute gem today. I literally took the wrong turn and noticed the Wagyu beef flyer posted to the fence so decided what the heck, it's lunch time let me just try it out. I knew I made the right decision when I walked up and was greeted by a nice Japanese man. BEST. DECISION. EVER! The beef literally melts in your mouth!! Comes on a bed of rice, corn, grilled onions and kimchi. I couldn't even wait to eat it (hence why no photos of the plates ‍) I will 100% be back again & I've already told multiple people about this truck becuase it's literally a hidden GEM. It's just unfortunate that the location is off the beaten path and you have to intentionally look for the truck. But I promise you, you won't regret stopping here!

The size of the mini plate

My husband planned on having a completely different meal when we arrived at the Ohana Hale Food Truck Park. Once we had a taste of the #1 wagyu steak plate, he completely changed his mind (and until that moment, I didn't really know what I wanted to eat). The mini Wagyu Steak Plate was PHENOMENAL- the meat was perfectly cooked, the rice, corn and garlic sesame cabbage all tasted wonderful. Wish this food truck existed on the U.S. east coast! Eat here!

    Regular size

This is the best curry rice we have every had. We visited in March 2024 and have been wanting to come back since. Remarkably, their food is even BETTER now! An absolute gem in Waikiki. We can't wait to come back again!!

Beef Curry-outstanding and enough to share (dinner for two)

Many thanks to Yelpers for leading us to the AWE! I enjoyed two dinners at AWE during my stay in Waikiki. The first time I split the Beef Lover with my husband. It was a hearty, delicious trio of beef curry, shaved beef with onions and sliced beef over rice with corn and a small amount of cabbage. The beef is so tender and perfectly seasoned. Just delicious! We went back two days later and shared a beef curry. The beef curry had sold out as an entree but we enjoyed the portion we had in our Beef Lover so we were happy that it wasn't sold out the 2nd time we went back. The curry actually came with some sliced beef too. It was so delicious! Definitely don't hesitate to stop by this hidden gem!

Dude behind the counters chill and respectful. The food was delicious and I'm going to try the rest of the menu next time.

We more or less stumbled across this place after noticing several food trucks on the street outside of our hotel. Having heard of Wagyu beef hundreds of times but never actually trying it, I was immediately interested in the menu. There are multiple 'plate lunch' style offerings but we opted to go for the combination plate which has all 3 styles of meat. My favorite by far was the sliced steak. Not that the other two weren't good - they were all tasty. But that sliced steak was just so tender and flavorful. If I was eating there again I'd personally go for the full sized entree of just that variety. The sides in the meal are a little lacking (plain white rice, plain corn, and plain cabbage); but let's be honest, the real star here is the meat. Overall 8/10 - would come back again.

I am visiting from Orange County and these food trucks were next to the Air Bnb. I could smell the goodness from the 4th floor. I went the first night and got the big Wagyu steak plate, it was so delicious! I went back the next night and brought my Dad, he got the Wagyu steak this time I got the Wagyu beef bowl. Once again, so tender and delicious. I don't normally eat Kimchi but I ate all of this! This food is some of the best I've eaten while visiting Hawaii. Everyone needs to stop by and give this Chef some support! Enjoy!

We encountered numerous food trucks stationed on Cartwright as we strolled back to our hotel in Waikiki each evening. Our interest was piqued by the American Wagyu food truck. Tonight, we resolved to experiment with it, and we are delighted that we did. Accepts credit cards, provides a reasonable portion of food, and provides prompt and courteous service. We selected the curry rice (regular size) and the mini wagyu plate. They offer three portion sizes for the menu items they serve. The cuisine was delectable, and I would certainly consider returning to the food truck. I am of the opinion that it was a reasonable price in comparison to the prices of cuisine in Waikiki. American wagyu is the subject of discussion in numerous comments that have been posted on this site. Japanese cows are referred to as "wagyu." Folks, there is no such thing as American Wagyu. Japanese is the meaning of the term "wa." Cow is the translation of the term "gyu." In order to be classified as Wagyu, the cow must be bred and reared in Japan. American Wagyu is a cute choice for a name for the business.

I was really looking forward to trying this place. I will say I was disappointed that the meat is broil instead of grill. The guy behind the truck is really unfriendly and doesn't really say much. I understand it's a food truck and doesn't expect much but a smile won't hurt you. I tried asking about the late and got a grunt instead. I'll prolly not be back k here when I come back to the island.

I almost forgot to take a picture, it smelled so good, tastes so good! Service was fairly quick. Got #4 wagyu beef lovers which gave us a flavor of everything. So good! Only thing I would add is an egg (I love eggs) but I was too lazy and I didn't check to see if it was an option. Seasoned perfectly! We'll eat there again! Btw, there were two of us, we shared, but could easily feed 3 or 4 for a snack.

And boy were we both blown away (so much so that I believe she returned the next day with others!). The menu had been completely revamped and seemed to take on a more local influence while still being very upscale. Since we both enjoy "sampling" we shared two appetizer and a main. Everything was bursting with flavor! This is what we had: Starter salad from the seasonal menu of watermelon, strawberries, blueberries and greens served on a bed of yuzu infused goat cheese and drizzled with a shiso chimmichuri sauce. Yes, bursting with flavor! I would return for just this dish! Next shared was a tempura battered cauliflower served with a robust curry and yogurt reduction. Deeeelicious. I wouldn't say we licked the plate... but I won't deny it. Hahah. Finally shared the seafood in curry soup (think a lighter version of laksa) served with white rice on the side. Holy moly. No words to describe. Portions were generous enough to share still next time, I won't. That memorable you won't want to share. No longer serving volcano black rolls, tho absolutely serving amazingly wonderful dishes. Volcano black pancakes still available at breakfast. We kept on oooing and ahhhing and asking about the chef. Our servers Gale and Lily, who provided the most awesome service told us "Chef Lance" (as he is affectionately called) moved over from the Mariposa (Restaurant in Neiman Marcus) over a year ago. Further research revealed Chef Lance Kosaka has brought experience from noteworthy restaurants: Top of Waikiki, Merriman's, 53 By the Sea, and most recently Mariposa. I am hoping he will bring in a notable creme brulee that I loved at both the Top as well as Mariposa! Not wanting the deliciousness of Chef Steve's cooking to end, I also ordered a warabi salad to go for the next day. It was...just as wonderful as the other dishes we enjoyed. Thank you to Servers Gale and Lily, Chef Steve, actually...the entire staff who elevated a casual evening of dining to be a most memorable experience! Thank you to sister friend Karen who insisted we dine here, for the most wonderful company and meal. Validated parking in the building accessed on Seaside. Validated for either 2 or 3 hours depending on the promotion. Kamaaina discount of 10 percent given. Will we be back? Absolutely. And I won't wait so long this time to return!

And my sandwich was amazing: the garlic chicken hoagie, topped with macaroni salad. My only nit to pick is that, while the fries were tasty, I wish I could have had a larger portion of the salad as my side dish. The chicken was great, but the macaroni salad was incredible. I scraped it off to eat separately. The plate also came with a little dish of sweet pickles, which complemented the rich chicken and mac salad nicely. The attached market is also a little more posh than the thousands of ABC stores, so take a spin through after you eat. There's also a coffee stand and a flatbread place, but the pièce de résistance of this marketplace is definitely Basalt.

We were there for about two hours and only saw around three other parties, so the whole place just felt really quiet and empty. The one bright spot was the service. There was only one server working, and he was incredibly nice, friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We got the set menu. We started with the hamachi crudo, which was good. The beet dish was really pretty, but I thought it was a little bland and didn't have much flavor. They also had their own take on a baked potato with sour cream and chives, which was actually really yummy. The shrimp/prawn dish with the butter sauce was probably my favorite dish of the night. The bao was okay, and unfortunately, the chicken adobo was extremely salty. It was also basically a huge piece of chicken with adobo sauce, so it wasn't really my favorite. We were really excited to try the rabbit butter mochi because we'd heard so much about it. It was super cute and definitely one of the most unique presentations, but unfortunately, it tasted like soap. We wondered if maybe the mold had been washed right before serving because there was a very strong dish soap-like taste to it. LOL. Obviously, things happen, but it was especially disappointing because I really wanted to enjoy the butter mochi. Also, the tap water was honestly some of the worst restaurant water I've ever had. It tasted very strongly like a pipe or metal. I even asked for lemon wedges, but it still tasted the same. I never complain about water, but this was genuinely difficult to drink.

An old friend knew we were heading back and sent me an IG post where Māze x Bar Leather Apron were doing a collab on Mon and Tues. Sjnce we didn't have dinner plans, we showed up at around 4:40 only to see 1 other person waiting in line as we were searching for parking. To our surprise, there were 7 people in front of us by the time we lined up! Sadly we were seated at a high top table off in the corner as a lady took the last open seat. For this collab, they didn't have a ton of food items so ordering was fairly straight forward, ordered 1 of everything. First cocktail I had was the pepper-tonic which was quite tasty! Otsumami - consisted of 3 snacks (seasoned cashews, pickled cabbage and warm olives). Thought the pickled cabbage was quite tasty and the cashews were just so so. Skipped the olives since I'm not a fan but the wifey enjoyed them. Salmon - it was mentioned that this was the chef's signature dish but sadly was mediocre for me. The salmon had a very distinct flavor which I wasn't a fan of. Wagyu - tartare on potato paves which was sadly just ordinary for me. thought the tartare lacked flavor. Cheese - unique twist of what i was expecting. the flavor of the dish was good but wished there was more of a crunch to it. this wasn't hot when it was brought out so perhaps it was sitting a bit before it was served to us. Fries - likely my favorite dish for the night but sadly our order seemed like 1/2 everyone else's portion as our bowl was half filled while other customers were filled to the top. ended up ordering another order just to snack on while I enjoyed the imperial cocktail. Enjoyed the casual ambience of this collab but sadly not sure we'd come back for a regular set meal in the future. This week's menu seems to be more thought out and wished they had their "baked potato" last week. Will definitely head back to Bar Leather Apron as their drinks were fantastic!

There were wine specials and I took advantage of this offering, choosing a 2023 Beaune Boucherottes from Louis Jadot. Our server (Malama) brought a 2021, which was great from my perspective. This wine sells for $180 and was listed at $177; what a deal! We chose Bone Marrow ($32), Beets and Strawberry Salad ($28) as our starters. Entrees were the Butchers Cut, which offered Filet, Ribeye or NY Strip ($70). I chose the NY strip and ordered Foie Gras ($32) to accompany it. Our other entrée was the Huli Hainan Chicken Plate ($42). Malama told us the Foie Gras was a mousse, so I asked her to bring it out with the other two appetizers. The Bone Marrow plate came with two halves of bone and four pieces of toasted ciabatta. The Foie Gras dish was interesting ... Three piped dollops of foie gras mousse, with three quenelles of a pineapple mostarda and a plate of Madeleines. The Beets & Strawberry Salad was a visual and taste treat ... It was my favorite of the three starters. The foie gras atop the Madeleine was too sweet for our palates; it was much more successful on the toasted ciabatta that accompanied the bone marrow. The NY Strip came sliced, with another bone marrow and mashed potatoes. The Hainan Chicken came with ginger scallion rice, lomi tomato chile, dark soy (which was very watery), slices of cucumber and cilantro. The chicken was the least successful dish we've had here. I give the executive chef kudos to add variety to the menu. The steak came with a container of miso bordelaise ... I thought it was okay, my tablemate didn't like it. I tried the foie gras mousse on pieces of steak ... It was okay. We had the steak and chicken dishes boxed and perused the dessert menu. I don't usually eat dessert so the decision on what to order is left to my fellow foodie. She chose the Flourless Chocolate Cake ($16); I asked for a cup of coffee ($11). The cake was rich and dense, almost like fudge. We boxed that up ... My fellow foodie has enough food for next week. What did we think? The décor is pretty much the same as when it operated as La Vie, except for the addition of black tablecloths. There was a pianist playing near the bar ... That added a nice touch to the ambience of the place. Service was fine but not what we were looking for. We gave Solera a rating of 4 (perhaps a touch under). We expect a bit more when the bill is $427.22 (plus tip).

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and decided to try Solera since we had a breakfast credit each morning. WOW is all I have to say. The food was absolutely incredible. We each got a drink--I ordered a matcha and he got a latte, and both were so good. For food, we shared the Hawaiian omelette, and they did not hold back on the meat. The service was top-notch. Our servers were attentive without being overbearing and checked in just the right amount, which always makes a difference. I would highly recommend Solera for both drinks and food--definitely worth a visit.

Food is great and reasonably priced and served in good portions too. Because many other Waikiki restaurants would jack the prices up simply because they could, the fact Deck's price points are lower than the most and the quality is better than the most is awesome. Highly recommend it.

Reservation was at 8:45 place was empty by the way yet it took 20 + minutes to be seated. I was seated outside but it was dark so the view was gone and it was cold and raining. The server didn't come for about 10 minutes where I asked to be moved. I was moved to a covered table and we got a new server where we promptly ordered. My sons kids meal came out and his tenders were actually delicious as well as the fries . My food took over 20 minutes to arrive only after I made eye contact with my server and he rushed to the back to grab my food, I'm guessing he had forgotten about it because my short rib arrived cold. Like literally cold to the touch. The mashed potatoes were warm and those were great as well as the veggies . I didn't complain because nobody ever came back to check us on or offer a refill or anything . To pay was a hassle also as they only had 1 server helping and he was tied up with a big table for over 20 minutes that was arguing how to split up a bill. I eventually flagged down a bartender and she went and grabbed my original server from the back. The whole night things kept going wrong . I did have a mai tai earlier in the day from their happy hour which was great but dinner is a no-go for me here now.
