Excellent friendly service it was worth our drive out to Nu'uanu. The only closer Zippy's is in Pearl City. We were nearby we decided to eat out, it's been awhile since we did eat at vineyard We share one meals plentiful and delicious ! Dessert custard pie was great ... haven't Hafu dessert for awhile! !

I tried the Friday Special for the month of February. It was the Hawaiian Plate and it was massive. Beef Stew, Kalua Pig, Lau Lau, a scoop of mac salad, and two scoops of rice. There is one day this month to order and if you do...come hungry. At $20, it is a satisfying meal. I could not finish the mac salad...not my fav side dish as it is.

Haven't been here in years. The seating area cleared out for distancing

So it's been quite a few years since I e been to this Zippy's, or any Zippy's as a matter of fact but since I know Joe K has never been to a Zippy's and we wanted a quick and nearby place lunch, Zippy's we went. I'd seen some ads on the limited time "Wrecking Crew" pac to help promote the movie so was all in on that. The other thing I was craving was chicken katsu so also got a Chicken Katsu plate. Many decades ago this location was one of the best fast food katsu plates around. Sad to say that's long been the case. The W.C. pac was ok, the thing I liked most about it was that it came with chili...another thing I've always enjoyed from Zippy's. The rest of the plate was a pile of rice with furikake, a breaded piece of fish that I'd never heard of before (hoki), a piece of fried chicken, and four pieces of Portuguese sausage, and of course a scoop of mac salad for good measure. All in all it was pretty mediocre but it did hit the spot. Will I be rushing back to eat here again? Probably not, unless it's for some Naples and Flaky Donuts. Those mofos are da BOMB!

Zippy's is a Hawaii institution. I have lived in Hawaii for 19 years and this was my first experience having Zippy's. Mostly because I live on Kauai where there isn't one. I always intended to eat here when visiting Oahu ...just something else always came. So...long over due. Busy as heck and only one person taking orders. And of course there was a problem with the customers before us. Ugh. Aunty at the register took it in stride and even helped the trouble makers carry their food to the car. Strange though...abandoning one's post with a HUGE line of hungry (equals grumpy) people. The take out area is huge and soul less which is fine for what it is. This area also has a Napoleon Bakery. We ordered a special "Wrecking Crew" movie tie in plate and a Chicken Katsu plate. The former included a piece of fried chicken, fried fish, Portuguese sausage, chili, Mac salad, and furikake rice. Everything super tasty. The katsu had Mac and 2 scoops rice. Good but nothing special.

They immediately served us water with our menus. I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Breakfast which came with two eggs, Korean fried chicken, rice, and I chose SPAM as the protein. It was so good! The chicken was sweet and tender with a crispy outside, the rice and spam paired super well. The egg was a little undercooked but I didn't specify. My dad ordered the Lilikoi drink which was really sweat and tasted amazing. It was super refreshing. Our meals were $16-20 each and they had a lot of food. I had enough leftovers for a second full meal. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was very friendly.

Visited the take out counter service on Christmas Day. Gotta give credit to the local staple for being open and serving only onolicious food! Friendliest service from Ramona at the order window! She greeted me with a cheery "Merry Christmas!", took my order and repeated it back to me, was quick, friendly and professional! Made my morning! Ordered the turkey plate (a special with all the traditional fixings), a fried chix plate and a regular chili bowl! Order was accurate, food temp was hot and tasted onolicious! Mahalo Zippy's Vineyard for the always quick, accurate and friendly service! Shout out to Ramona! You made me smile and made my day!

Had a craving for some Zippy's chili and their Saimin so I found the closest location to my daughter's house. It's an easy to find and accessible location on the corner with a ton of parking. It's a large well lit location. I love the digital boards that show you the status of your order. I also love the locker system they have. The service was quick and friendly and I was in out in no time.

10-4-25 Saturday nite the line was waiting outside the door for the restaurant. Not many places were open late so we chose here as it was on the way home and Sweetie requested noodles and sushi. Since one party before us signed up with 20 people we decided to do the take out order window to the left. We ordered the Ohana Pack to feed 6 of us but by the time we got to Sweetie's house Bud had already fallen asleep & her dad was ready for bed after he congratulated her for their win at a competition. More food for 4 of us- the Korean fried chicken and fried noodles were excellent. It also came with tossed salad and chili. The parking lot was pretty full and that late at night at this location there were many homeless men lying on the sidewalk at the parking entrance. Some began howling and making it the perfect scenario for fright night. Once our order was ready, time to Hele On, quickly. We hastened to jump in the car without hesitation and be on our way.

My first time at a Zippy's and honestly was pleasantly surprised with the food. The food is really tasty, comes out warm and fast. We ordered the chicken trio and the zip combo. They cook their chicken super crispy and I was also really impressed by the fish that came in mine! Service is friendly and fast, but the location could really use a clean up. It's quite dirty inside so I'd suggest taking your food to go!

Zippy's is always the to go place if you are looking for something that's a causal dinning eat. Even the food is not that good, but I will still give it a 4 star because the spacious spaces and the short wait for food. Grilled salmon w/ sweet corn 2.5/5 The salmon is overcooked with lack of flavor. If you are looking for something that's "healthy", sure; but I won't get it again just because it has no taste. Spaghetti w/ meat sauce 3/5 My always to go food if I am craving for spaghetti but don't want to go to actual pasta restaurants. The portion is pretty decent for such an affordable price, but the taste can't be compare to regular pasta restaurants. Korean fried chicken salad 5/5 One of the must order, local favor dishes. The fried chicken is fried perfectly that's not overcooked, but crispy and flavorful. It has this sweet but savory taste that can't be found in other fried chicken favor.

Zipping in... Really needed to stop by to pick up dinner and something sweet and though that Zippy's would be the perfect place to do both as they certainly do have just about everything you can imagine and all in one spot does make it convenient though parking in the back is quite small and can imagine it could fill up during peak hours but had no idea that this location had a drive through pick up which is quite bougie and convenient lol! Love the vibe as I walked in to the take out section is nice and spacious the staff here is nice as the line started to form they quickly asked for additional check out so that I didn't have to wait long to put in my order. Lots to choose from even special are always offered in all locations the simple fried chicken is the classic favorite besides their simian which they do separate the soup for you if you choose but don't forget to put in your phone number for your rewards as they didn't ask as I rushed to order and forgot myself but got my order in a timely manner. Thank you!

This was our first stop to eat at when we landed in Honolulu because it's nostalgic and it never disappoints when it comes to mixed plate lunches. This location has both the outside area where you can walk up to order your food at the window for take out with limited tables , but around the corner of the building is the indoor restaurant that is spacious with plenty of seating and offers more menu options. We ended up dining outside as we were there to eat and head over to the hotel right after. The Zip Pac Deluxe is one of our go-tos because it has a little bit of everything. We also got the the Chicken Trio and Chicken Katsu. My favorite was the crispy fried chicken, so Ono! We will always be a fan of Zippy's because their food is always consistent, affordable, and portions are generous!

    Korean Fried Chicken Platter
    Mai K.

Service is excellent at this Zippy. Safer area and lots of parking. Fried chicken and Korean fried chicken platters are our favorites. Oxtail soup can be better. Please, skim the fat from the surface of the soup and go less on the peanuts but more on the greens. Most people will experience stomachaches after consumption if the grease is not skimmed from the soup. Consider using the big Chinese mustard rather than pea tips or young green mustards. Fresh cilantro plays a huge role in presentation and taste.

For about $16 you get a heavily portioned plate with two scoops of rice, mixed green salad, asparagus, and a nicely cooked ahi steak. The garlic are actual cloves that have been cooked long enough to soften them and take away that bite without removing the garlicky goodness. The bomb sauce adds a bit of creaminess to round out the plate. They're a bit of a hole in the wall, takeout ideally due to the limited parking in front and seating. Menu is vast and they are open late/early. You can even get lobster here! For the prices, you'd easily pay $30 for the seafood options and portions at fancier establishments. So I consider upscale Hawaii a steal, just don't expect ambiance...it's all about the food.

They were all taken by what looks like an after party crowd. Maybe they just came from dancing or just drinking in a bar. They were loud and a bit intoxicated. Ok back to what you're really here for. The food. I ordered the furikake ahi. It comes with mixed greens and asparagus. There also is some "bomb sauce". It's nice and creamy with a slight hint of heat. The furikake ahi was nicely prepared. It wasn't overcooked. It was done almost perfect. I like to see some rawness in the middle but it was close. It was really good and I was quite surprised. The asparagus too was really good. It wasn't overcooked where it's mushy or undercooked where it's hard. Prepared perfectly. I'm not a veggie person but the dressing was really good. Not exactly sure what type of dressing it was but it came with it. So no Thousand Island, Ranch, French, Italian or your Oil and Vinegar. It was really good. I just wish they gave a little more. Overall it was a really good and satisfying meal. It compares well with a restaurant like Nicos. Just not the same atmosphere and you're probably going to wanna take it home to eat. Lots of parking in the very early morning as every place else is closed. They are open 24 hours. A rarity after covid came and went. So if you're looking for someplace open late night or early morning serving a good furikake ahi this is your place. Give them a try. It's worth the price at under $20. There are many other offerings to choose from and will probably try something else from here. They also do offer a mixed plate where you can have two choices off their regular menu board. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the menu. Maybe next time I'm here. The person that took my order was really nice. She was an elderly Filipina. She was very nice and pleasant especially at working this very early morning. I think her name was ate Letti or maybe auntie Letti. Very good service.

I didn't expect much from this small corner diner, but everything turned out real solid! The exterior is especially entrancing, with its bright, rainbow neon sign that glows out the darkness of the night! The hooded interior was clean and followed well with the rainbow theme, especially with its rainbow pastel, title wallpaper. I would also like to compliment the workers, who were very nice and approachable! We ordered the loco moco plate, mixed plate, and saimin. Both plates were very filling and came in huge portions! The plates are for sure a top choice if you want a nice, hearty dinner! I especially enjoyed my loco moco! The saimin was less filling and came in an instant noodle cup. Still yet, it wasn't half bad--and it actually seems like a fairly good piece if you are on a diet or budget; it wasn't as expensive as the other dishes and only came out as 220 calories! I also want to note that they have a variety of tasty dessert pastries and icee treats if you are looking for a treat after your dinner. Overall, I would say this is a great diner to try if you've got a big appetite and are looking for something to share with a friend or family! Great vibes and great Hawaiian plate meals!

And we just can't go here anymore unless changes are made! We used to prefer them over Zippy's, but now they are less than 7-Eleven quality, while charging higher-end prices for the neighborhood. We have given them many chances, hoping it was just a fluke, but we have repeatedly been disappointed. Their chicken has become chewy and fatty, their rice is mediocre, and condiments such as mayonnaise are stripped down to the bare minimum quantity. Chile is poured so lightly that it is practically a minuscule amount. And their prices have continued to rise. I don't know if greedy people took over the restaurant who just don't care anymore, or what is going on. I remember when I used to take people here, and they would be impressed with the quality and quantity--plates just heaping with good cuts of meat, noodles, and rice. Those days are no more. As they say in Japan, the price performance is poor. Furthermore, their staff is rude. I can only imagine it was an owner working this day because it was a face I haven't seen that often. An older gentleman who appeared to be of Okinawan descent, working the cashier register, accosted us because I was privately discussing with my family about splitting different items with them. We were all ordering something, so he wasn't losing any money, but he told us about how prices are double in Waikīkī. First of all, it is rude to interrupt your customers that way. Secondly, we don't go to Waikīkī or care about Waikīkī. What happened to serving the locals? Third, Waikīkī has an assortment of restaurants, prices, and qualities, and they shouldn't be how you base your services. Lastly, I guarantee I could find a better deal in Waikīkī if I wanted to. Next time you're in the area, just go get a $6 bento or a $5 burrito from 7-Eleven next door. I assure you, the price performance and experience will be better. If Rainbow Drive-In is in the business of comparing themselves to other things, let's compare them to 7-Eleven and at least try to be better than them, right? I can get mochiko chicken from 7-Eleven for $6.99 that is similar in portion size and better quality. Meanwhile, they are serving their fatty, dry chicken for $16.75. Highway robbery! And they are not fancy, with their dirty picnic tables and plastic cutlery. They are just a step above a food truck, if that. Save yourself from the hype. They have gone downhill like a landslide. Go elsewhere.

The sampler came with lomi lomi salmon, squid lu'au, chicken long rice, poi, lau lau (pork or chicken), sweet potato and poi. It was filling for the two of us. We thought we might add something else à la cart, but we didn't need anything more. So good. We were surprised by the sweetness of the coconut milk in the squid lu'au. Everything was yummy! Not the touristy version. We wanted to actually experience some of the local food, and she recommended Highway Inn Restaurant & Catering. So of course, we had to give it a try! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt very laid-back and comfortable. Nothing overly fancy or trying too hard. It had that relaxed, home-style feeling where you could just sit down, eat, and enjoy yourself. Now let's talk about the food! I had the BBQ chicken with rice and salad, and that chicken was so tender! The barbecue sauce was absolutely delicious, and surprisingly, that salad was GOOD too. I loved the dressing they served with it. The hubby went more traditional and ordered the Lau Lau with pork, which gave us exactly what we came for, a chance to experience Hawaiian food while we were here. But y'all... I have to mention something completely random. THE COKE! I don't know what was going on with that Coke, but it tasted like Coke used to taste back in the day! I kept saying, "Now THIS tastes like a Coke!" Sometimes it really is the little things. The service was great. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. No complaints at all. As far as value, absolutely worth what we paid. Good food, good portions, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. 4.5/5 Would we go back? Definitely. Especially if we wanted another casual spot for Hawaiian comfort food. And shout-out to the tattoo artist because she definitely didn't steer us wrong on this one!
