Does Zip's spend any time training their employees? After a long day of hiking, Mrs. C. and I had a hankering for a Huckleberry Shake. So we walk into the Veradale Zip's. Since Huckleberry is a seasonal flavor, I asked the counter person (a teenage or early 20's young lady) "Do you still make Huckleberry shakes"? That should be a yes or no question. Her answer " I believe so". She stands there and says nothing else. So I stand there for a few seconds then say, "Well, if you have it, I would like one". Mrs. C then said "Please confirm that you do or don't as that is the only thing I want". So the gal walks back to the prep area and returns a few seconds later to confirm that yes they do have huckleberry. So I order a large and Mrs. C. orders a small. "Will that be for here or to go"? asks the counter person. Mrs. C and I look at each other to see if we heard that right as we were not sure what difference it would make for a milkshake in a cup. The counter person then realized what a dumb question that was and said "oh I guess it doesn't matter does it"? Zounds!. To be fair though, the Huckleberry shakes were delicious. We walked in and ordered food, i went to use the restroom and smelt pot being smoked in the back. Also the fries were under cooked and a burger was still pink. Gross gross gross. I would absolutely go back to Zips for their cross cut fries. They came out hot and cooked to perfection. Would I drive 300 miles as Jae O says she does, no. If I was Drunk in Spokane as another writer writes, Yes. The burgers were good and I would give them 3 stars for burgers (A-OK) and 5 stars for the cross cut fries and fry sauce - so that is where 4 stars comes from. Would definitely go back to try some of the other food other then the cheese burgers. read more

I was in about noon today. The food came out promptly, even though they were very busy. I got home with my fish and chips, only to discover that both the fish and fries were extremely overcooked to the point where nothing was edible. Their line was busy for over 2 hours, so I couldn't bring it to their attention. I've never had this problem there before! read more

I am a lover of zips. It's a great local chain. But this zips is AWFUL. The employee who helped was as rude as they come. The food was cold but over cooked. One of the worst fast food experiences I had. They mentioned they were understaffed and backed up (I used to work fast food and retail so I /get it/), but they only mentioned that at the end and failed to fully explain why they overcharged us on our order. I ordered a meal and they rang me up for a meal and tarter sauce but didn't give me the drink, fries, or the tarter. With the same order on another meal I had substituted the fry and drink for a milkshake and mushrooms and they charged me for a full meal and full priced milkshake and mushrooms. I had also asked for regular size milkshake but they charged me for a large. When I tried to correct it she said okay, but all they did was switch out the worker and he handed me the food. And again, when I asked about the overcharge she didn't make anything clearer and failed to give me the rest of the meal like I had asked. Then at the end they asked for the ticket to compare the one taped to the bag and then handed me the food. Instead of adding the food they missed they just removed what they left out of the order and still charged us for the original price! I don't have issues if a place is slow, I don't mind waiting a bit longer, but they were so quick to dismiss what I was saying to get me out of there. read more

I wouldn't even rate it a 1 star. I waited in drive through for 20 minutes. Almost fell asleep. Finally I get my food double check it my fries weren't in the bag. Also we asked for fry sauce and received tartar I had to show the lady the order on receipt pretty sad service. I recommend new management if you want happy customers. read more

Just went to this Zips earlier today. Usually get the halibut and fries when my husband picks up dinner for us. Last couple of times I have noticed the fish was almost burnt and the fries limp and not as overflowing like a few years ago. Wasted over $11 on two pieces of burnt fish and lousy fries. Made them redo the fish. Looked like they just scraped off the overdone bits. I could only eat one piece of the fish and some of the fries. Tartar sauce can only do so much. The fish was very tough. They need to find a better distributor for their halibut. They are basically cooking it twice. Or their fryer isn't calibrated properly. Never going to this Zips again. The one on Trent is better. read more

Not sure what all the hype is about. I can think of 3 burger joints that are more savory. In n Out, Habit, and Whataburger. Had to at least try the place based off of recommendations. The fry sauce was pretty good. read more

I'm surprised to read these reviews. I'm writing this because I was actually in a few days ago and received the best service ever! I had a special diet request which they were happy to accomodate. This crew is always professional and still treat you like family. It's always comfortable and clean. Somehow I question what the truth is behind these reviews because I am kind to them and I am treated very well. Think about the masses of chronic complainers and people who abuse these workers becau se they have no respect for fast food workers? I was there once so I know how hard they work and these guys at Zips are KILLIN IT! They are a true team and I love the food!!!! read more

I've only been to 2, and I will grant you that it's kind of just garbage food anyway, but the employees here REALLY don't give a crap. 2/2 wrong orders and I'm still waiting for edible food to show up. Went on a Sunday at 3pm. Only people in restaurant. There were 2 girls and 2 boys working. Took our order. The girl turned around and threw something at the others behind the grill. Tipped something over, they had to mop up. When we got our food to go, we opened our bag and our tub of fries were only 3/4 full. They obviously didn't want to make new batch. The ones we got were also COLD. My husband wanted me to go back inside, we had just got to the car. But I said No, we just know not better to go here again. This place usually has good food and service. But on the weekends I guess the kids would rather play than make decent food. Terrible service at the drive-thru. Saw our bag of food sitting at the window literally 10 to 15 minutes before we even got up there. Told her we wanted it remade and not cold at which point she handed it off to a co-worker. Co-worker stood out of view for a couple of minutes, brought us the same bag of cold food, practically threw it into our window and slammed the drive-thru window shut. Cold food, no napkins or condiments we asked for. Called Zips to talk to the Manager, was handed off to I'm quite certain, not the Manager, very rude young man on the phone while we heard him and the staff giggling in the background. Sorry Zips valley, you lost our business and anyone else I talk to. These young employees really need better supervision. read more

Let me first say...I love zips... All but this one. Not only did they mess up both burgers ordered, but after sitting in line for literally over 15 minutes all together, they wouldn't even comp us a few tarters for THEIR screw up. On one burger the request was lettuce, tomato, and mayo ONLY and one was extra pickles... The lettuce, tomato, mayo only burger came with lettuce, onions, and pickles... What? How did they mess that up. On top of the fact that we paid an extra 35 cents for limp wet lettuce. The one with extra pickles had literally 2.. yes I repeat, 2 pickles. Not 2 extra.. just 2. In what world is that extra? Not mine. Our fries were mushy and cold. And our one measly tarter cup was 1/4 full. So after asking for a few more tarters for our inconvenience, we still had enough with the measly cup to cover about 4 fries. This place sucks. I've never been so unhappy with a zips restaurant. Also, when I asked for the manager she said she was, so I asked for her manager and she said, "shell tell you the same thing, it's our policy to not give more tarters". Even though they made us wait so long and screwed up the entire meal. Well I would like to see what policy that is. Cuz most restaurants would help you out or comp you. This is by far the worst Zip's I have ever been to. We have had multiple bad experiences at this Zip's. Most recently, when went through the drive-thru. There was one car in front of us. We ordered chicken strips and a double cheeseburger. The store was not very busy. This Zip's has two windows. You pay at the first window and pick up food at the second window. We saw the car in front of us pay at the first window. Then we paid at the first window. While we were waiting in line the car in front of us was at the pick-up window. We noticed that the driver again handed the restaurant employee a credit card. Shortly after, the employee handed the card back with a receipt. This clearly was not the usual procedure. Shortly after that the employee handed the driver a bag that is used for fish and chips and chicken strips and chips orders. She then started to hand the driver a bag that is used for burgers and other items but the driver declined the bag. When we got up to the pick-up window we continued to wait. chicken strips from Zip's When the employee finally brought us our order, 15 minutes had elapsed from the time we ordered. When she handed me the food, a bag with the chicken strips and a bag with the cheeseburger, the outside of the cheeseburger bun was cool to touch. I confronted the employee about this and the fact that it appeared that they had given the car in front of us part of our order, and the other part of our order sat while they made another chicken strips. She denied this, and stated that it takes this long (15 minutes) to cook chicken strips. We have ordered chicken strips from Zip's at least 100 times over the years and it has never taken more than 6-7 minutes to fry the chicken strips. The employee was clearly lying. She said that they would make another cheeseburger, but we had already waited 15 minutes and if we waited for another burger, then the chicken and fries would have been cold, so I declined. I gave the employee my phone number and asked her to have the manager call me. When we got home, I checked the hamburger and the chicken strips with a meat thermometer. The hamburger was 20 degrees cooler than the chicken strips. The manager did not call me, so later that evening I called the store. The employee who answered said the manager was gone for the day and that the manager was aware that I had asked her to call but chose not to call back. She asked what had happened and I explained. Then the employee stated that If they pull the chicken strips of the fryer and cut one open and and it is not fully cooked then they have to continue to cook it longer. Again, we have had Zip's chicken strips at least 100 times, most times ordered in the restaurant, and I have never seen the fry cook take chicken strips out of the fryer and cut one open nor have I ever gotten an order of chicken strips with one of the chicken strips cut open. When I order food at any restaurant, I expect to get what I paid for, not inferior food because of an employee's mistake or there attempt to save food costs. At this Zip's, I had two employees lie to me and apparently a manager who does not care about customer service and customer satisfaction. Additionally, I sent my concerns to Zip's Franchise Corporate, and they also do not really care about customer service because they failed to respond. I certainly would not recommend this Zip's to anyone. And I am somewhat disenfranchised with the Zip's Franchise as a whole,due to there lack of concern about customer service. read more

We go to Zips around Spokane and the valley all the time because my kids love their milkshakes. Went to this one today, and forgot to mention at the drive thru that I had a coupon. When I got to the window, the girl refused to take the coupon, because, she said, it messes up their system to adjust the ticket. I asked her to void the sale and re-ring it, but she refused. They actually voided the ticket, took the milkshakes they had already made back, and wouldn't complete the sale. SERIOUSLY?!? You can void to the ticket to cancel the sale, but you'll lose a customer because you don't want to adjust it for a coupon. Went in to the store and the young girl who said she was the general manager said it was my fault for not saying I had a coupon and I should have read the sign at the drive-thru. I told her sorry, I didn't see it, but why would they waste food and lose a customer over a coupon. She said they didn't waste the shakes, "they PUT THEM AWAY." Never more disappointed in something I had loved. I have eaten Zips since I was a kid and had mostly been a good experience until recently.They say third time is a charm-this third effort was not. About three weeks ago I took some family to Zips for burgers and fries, Though everyone being clear about what they wanted on their burger several were wrong and they shorted us one of our two tubs of fries. Last week I went for a couple Bacon burgers and ended up with Papa Joe's that after nearly 6 minutes in their drive thru. This morning I went to try their Biscuit & Gravy breakfast. I should have realized their was an issue and simply left after waiting 9 1/2 minutes in the drive thru with only one other person in front of me. After placing my order and waiting all that time I arrived at the window to have the cashier say, "We have a problem. We don't have enough gravy to make your order." When I asked why they allowed me to order it was told "Its tough to keep track". Really?? After some protest I heard the cook mumble something I won't repeat here but it was not a pleasant nor professional in any way. It appears the Zip's I grew up with has gone down the tubes.
