Went here on a very rainy night (typical Miami) and they were running their tasting menu special. They switched one of the dishes due to an allergy (swapped the fish for a steak) which was great of them to do. The bing bread is fantastic, could've had 3 plates of it. The rest of the meal was good, definitely innovative/creative which to me can be a bit too much. The food is definitely fresh, served aesthetically pretty, and is absolutely good food. For me personally, it was just not my favorite flavors. I get the hype but if you're not a big experimental type food person, it might be a one and done. Mind you I'm glad I went and enjoyed it! The staff was great, our waiter was very friendly and checked on us multiple times. Cute aesthetic, almost felt like I walked into a New York restaurant, especially with how tucked away it is. It was tricky to find, I may not have found it if not for my friend who had been there once (Google maps took me to the wrong side of the building). We didn't have drinks so not sure about those. Saturday evening we had the pleasure of dining at Zitz Sum in Coral Gables. I met the owner/Chef Zitzmann during lockdown where his take out dumplings, scallion pancake and pork buns helped me get through that time with a smile. Zitz Sum, with cool old school hip hop, sweet staff and out of this world food will become a staple again in my life. Let me start by saying that It's a cool restaurant, with a nice courtyard in the Gables. My wife and I brought our one-and-a-half-year-old son with us. And the restaurant was very accommodating. They had crayons, a coloring placemat, and even a plastic water cup with a straw. Also, they had a child's portion of chicken katsu, which was served with roasted potatoes, that was perfect for him. There's a happy hour menu that has wings on it, which I found to maybe be a little bit burnt, but it has some good drinks. However, I felt like maybe it would have been nice for there to be another two or three appetizer options. We ordered some pork dumplings, which were pan fried, and cooked perfectly. But they were in a pool of spicy sauce which was a bit strong. Some dumpling sauce, ponzu, or soy would've been better. We also tried these fried, croquetta like balls which had sausage and cheese in them, and were served with a mustardy sauce, which was a bit pungent. Finally, we had some curry noodles with shrimp. They could have used a little more seasoning. Maybe even a hint of sweetness. It did seem like much of the food was savory or spicy. Overall, it's worth trying the restaurant. There are some other options that look good that we didn't try. I do feel like the food is on the spicier side. The staff was great, very accommodating. And it's a nice spot to relax outside. But there's indoor seating too. And it's very kid friendly. read more

This is a mixed review. The reservation app only offered outside but we were able to sit inside which we appreciated. There is not a full bar - just wine and sake and the sake we ordered was great. There were four of us but the portions were so small that we had to double order on most of the dishes. The oxtail was delicious but it came in a dough and the whole thing was much more dough than oxtail. It was a birthday so they were good enough to put a candle in the tiny dessert but it was so small that we all got just one small bite. The service was excellent until the very end when we were finishing our drinks and the hostess literally walked up to our table and asked us to finish our drinks at the bar because they needed the table. Honestly, that should not happen at a Michelin restaurant and, because of that, we probably won't be going back. read more

Amazing food and amazing service. Miami lacks good asian food but this place goes against the grain on that comment. The chef and owner is a wizard in the kitchen. We had the Patatas Bravas as a starter and it was sublime. We then followed with the pork potstickers, wonton in phrodo and shrimp har gow. All stand out dishes. Finished it off with the hong kong style french toast. It was all washed down with possibly the greatest cocktail I have ever had "not your abuelas mangoes" All in all a must try and hopefully a staple in the Gables for years to come. read more

The inside decor is great and the only place to sit in my opinion. The outside is far too bright, sterile and cold, while the inside is dimly lit, intimate, warm and cozy. The food is a bit Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde. We ordered a large portion of the entire menu. The first dish to hit the table was the crudo. Light and refreshing and delicious. Wahoo which was meaty with great contrast between sweet, sour, crunchy, soft. The salad of cucumber, avocado, garlic chili crunch and straccietella was another great contrast of textures and flavors. The sourdough pancake with honey miso butter was our favorite dish of the night. The wagyu tartar was good but the flavors were extremely familiar and lacked vision. The dumplings were my most anticipated and most disappointing dishes. The potstickers, har gow, and wontons all suffered similar fates. Overly thick wrappers, with lackluster fillings. If you have any dumpling experience in any Asian country you'll be underwhelmed. New to dumplings? You'll be delightfully surprised. The Mishima wagyu beef was good and perfectly cooked, but the pepper/mushroom sauce took more away from the beef than it complimented it. Last night was my first time time here, to celebrate my birthday, and this place is such a hidden gem! The person who helped us was super nice and very knowledgeable when it came to the restaurant's history and the food options as well (I needed to accommodate certain options since I can't eat dairy). The presentation of each food item was beautiful: we ordered the charred cabbage (I loved the sauce), the wahoo crudo (the cucumber sauce and tomatoes were super fresh), and the hot pot was my personal all-time favorite (the rice was the perfect texture: soft when you bit into it, and just the right amount of crisp at the bottom. First let me say I was very excited to finally come . The chef is the former No name Chinese in South Miami . My daughter kept telling us about this pop up that had great dumpling . This is there permanent place now. It's a lovely place simple and charming . The menu changes. Great appetizers we had the steak tartar which comes with little seaweed papers that you wrap lots of flavor . We ordered all the dumpling and shared with our friend . I loved them ! The one with the broth excellent, and the chicken potstickers and the shrimp Har Gow were amazing . For the main dish we had crispy rice which had some mushrooms and a soft egg on top . The steak dish had a wonderful sauce under the meat it had so much depth and the steak was cooked perfectly. There is a little kick in some of the dishes but just the right amount . Overpriced,overrated but really nice location. This is a place for drinks. Forget the food, unless you are really hungry. Too salty or missed the wow factor. There are plenty of choices in the area. The customer service is polite and eager to please. The chef should revise the menu " pronto". We came here on a date night and had no idea what to get. We didn't quite understand what the menu was exactly and left it up to our server's recommendations. We were not disappointed, all of the dishes were excellent and had us scraping the plates and bowls to get every bit of flavor. We even ordered a second dessert from how good it was. We were super excited to go and try this place. We had a reservation at the terrace at 8.15 We arrived sharp on time. The hostes told us the table not ready and to wait in a booth outside. We waited 20 minutes and nobody asked us if we were ok or if we wanted a drink . There Was an empty table for 10 (3 small tables together) probably they decided to make us wait rather than loosing a big table. We tried to eat inside as well and they told us no, the reason was our reservation was outside. But the only three available tables outside were still eating. Disappointing in food and ambiance. Service was very good. This restaurant is located inside a bank building. It is dark and one open medium sized room with uncomfortable seats. The bing bread was served with a dip that was like a paste and hard to scoop onto bread. It did not have much flavor. Bread was good. The gnocchi and shrimp were very salty. It ruined what could have been a tasty dish. The cabbage was in a sauce that tasted like franks red hot sauce and was tough and hard to cut. The black cod was very good but very small portion. Zitz Sum does a creative take on dumplings and noodles but because of the constantly changing menu, the dishes we ordered were a bit hit or miss. The wonton in brodo and other dumplings were dense like a stone, but the sauces were pretty delicious. The shrimp noodles were oversauced. The fried rice was oversalted. The best dish we had was the crispy-bottomed sheng jian bao brisket bun with its contrast of a textures and flavors. I could have eaten only that for the evening. We came here for a short trip to Miami back in April, but we had much better dinner experiences at Itamae and Cote. I am surprised this made it to the NYTimes TOP 2022 restaurants list. read more

Talk about finding a gem within all of the good restaurants in Miami. This restaurant is amazing. Every single food item is delicious and has a flavor you have never tasted before. How had I not heard of this place until my fellow foodie friends who moved here a little over a year ago from NJ told me about it?! It's an unbelievable experience from start to finish, which is really difficult for any restaurant to do. From the food, the wine, to the cadence of the meal and atmosphere- everything was epic beyond words. I think I told my friends multiple times as I tried each course "oh my god", so if you're looking for a spiritual experience outside of church- just go here for dinner and surely you'll find it. Went for my fiancés birthday and we had a fantastic time. We unfortunately could not dine in but thankfully there was a slight breeze outside so it was enjoyable sitting outside. Our server was extremely knowledgeable with the menu and everything was absolutely delicious. Our favorites were the Bing Bread, wonton in brodo, Niman Ranch Petite Filet, and of course the HK Style French Toast. We were not super blown away by Potato Dumplings. Definitely a must try spot and next time we will be doing the tasting menu! I don't write reviews but had to leave this for everyone. DO NOT SKIP this restaurant! We had dinner last night and WOW. This place exceeded our expectations! Every bite is well thought out perfection. We started with the wahoo crudo which blew us away. Watching everyone's face when they had their first bite was amazing. Eye's closed long and trying to assimilate the flavors. It was like a flavor explosion in your mouth. Excellent combination of tastes and textures. We liked this dish so much we ordered another. Then we had the Yakitori chicken thighs. Each bite was pure perfection. I don't think I have ever had chicken cooked so well. They were combined with a very slight amount of Teriyaki which is perfect because there is a parsley sauce for the top that I could drink daily shots of. Our next course we tried the Bao buns and they are special too. If using all the elements of the dish the bites are pure perfection. The pickles, hoisin, pickled onions, and Bao, man what a glorious experience. Again watching the faces of everyone at the table was priceless. You don't often find a restaurant that can make you experience the food with such joy bite after bite. The shrimp Hargow was very well done, the spicy sauce again I could just eat by itself. It's obvious the chef had spent a lifetime learning how to combine flavors, textures into very well curated bites that are delightful. We ended the night with the Hong Kong French toast and I knew the dessert was going to be good based on how well the meal was, but my goodness I am not sure I could prepare myself for the level of joy that dessert brought me. Again the amount of thought and work that goes into that dish it's worth 3 X the price. The "toast" is crispy on the outside and perfectly doughy on the inside. Someone worked months to perfect the cooking to make that dish work in a restaurant nightly to table after table. Sam was our waitress and she was EPIC good at her job. We really enjoyed our night and never before did I want to meet the chef of a meal more than that night. I went home and read his story. I decided to try this place. Overall the atmosphere was great, service was great and the food was tasty and well made. The bing bread was amazing. The dumplings were yummy. The bao bun- I've had better. The best was the pork ibérico (which was a meal not dim sum). So here's why it's 4/5 instead of 5. While the food was great, the dim sum was as not out of this world, meaning they were not any better than the dim sum I've had at a farmer market from my fav Mr Cs and their Bao buns were actually better. The Dining experience which was 85pp was totally worth it because it was 6 courses and with 3 people we basically had the opportunity to try the whole menu and was not disappointed. All the dumplings were distinctly different and the flavors were spicy, aromatic, and hearty. I ordered the wagyu which was delicious but nothing incredibly impressive. The honey butter for the bing bread was dangerous and so mouth watering definitely a favorite. I did enjoy the Bao but it was very filling and it didn't really stick out to me that much. The strawberries and cream were light and refreshing from such a big meal but the Hong Kong French Toast won me over, buttery, crispy, soft, sweet and salty, as well as the melt in your mouth peanut butter flavor. This place was great my favorite drink was the Red Moon and I could've probably had at least 4 of those. Overall really great experience would definitely come back. read more
