ZK Grill was a find for me. I started off next door at WhereUBean Coffee, thinking I was done and decided to stop in here for something to take back to the office for later. I'm very glad I did Whenever I see the word Halal, I know I'm in for a tasty, well prepared Middle Eastern/ Mediterranean treat. You see the word Halāl (Arabic: alāl) means "permissible". Sort of like "Circle K" for kosher. So you know some extra effort has been made in its preparation. Nice! ZK Grill's menu is extensive, see photo. I decided to try something new. I thought this place would of come close to Mediterranean food like in Detroit. The chicken shawarma salad was not anything I have ever tasted. I didn't know they used cinnamon on this chicken it had too much cinnamon and it was over powering for me. I though everything was homemade. The dressing was an Italian dressing like it came from a bottle it wasn't even a Greek dressing. I was disappointed. I probably won't go back. Kind of found this place on accident one day and now I'm hooked. While they advertise this as "Mediterranean" cuisine, it has a Persian flair to it. I'm Armenian, so Persian food is kind of similar and holds a special place in my heart. I usually get the ground beef skewers with white rice and put some butter on it. The one thing they do that I really like is they toast the pita bread...nothing like a smoky char as you dip it into some hummus or yogurt. My wife loves the side of veggies as they are flavorful and mixed with bell peppers and onions. There are quite a few decent Middle Eastern restaurants in the East Valley, but this is quickly becoming my favorite. On a side note, the decor is outdated, but hey, you are here for the food. If you enjoy Middle Eastern food, this is some of the best I've found in the East Valley. read more

Usually its marinated, slow cooked, slightly greasy? Ugh. I ordered side of pita bread and tzaditki sauce but it was forgotten and not added; another 1.20 if I still want it. No thanks. One of my favorite places. I absolutely love their chicken wrap. Great food at a great price. The location is in a strip mall but don't let that for you. This is not a fancy joint, and the interior might leave some to be desired. But the customer service is great, the chicken is always delicious! When I checked Yelp, ZK was very close and it had excellent reviews do we decided to try it. It was about 2:30pm when we showed up. The restaurant was empty. We placed our order at the cashier and picked a table. We ordered the combo dishes, the beef and lamb combo and the lamb and chicken combo. In about 10 min, the food was out. The dishes looked great and they were hot and fresh and the portion size was huge! Everything tastes very good. I say very good bcz I have tried other Persian places in the valley and I have my favorite and it remains my favorite because the seasoning in the other restaurant is just spot on! The food here was also pretty good but to me, it was lacking a little bit more seasoning. This said however, the portion is huge in comparison to the price so that's the advantage here. I may be visiting the restaurant again if I am in the area. Good food, good prices and service overall. Worth trying for sure. read more

We have been enjoying Zk's for a few years now. Recently, within the past 6 months the service and food has been hit or miss. At times portions are plentiful and other times portions are substantially diminished. Inflation and increased prices are understandably affecting everyone, but the portion variation is so vast that I was compelled to write this review. If you order late in the day, you get lesser portions. The last time I ordered over the phone, the employee repeated my order, verifying it. I go pick up the order and return home only to find one of the plates I ordered was not complete. I returned to the restaurant and was told they were out of the item that had been omitted. In other words, they ran out and failed to notify me. Customer service is shotty. read more

I ordered #14 today which is a grilled chicken and salad. They put a disproportionate amount of salad with a little bit of chopped up chicken on top. I have had this dish at this location before and it comes with five large pieces of the grilled chicken and a proper size salad. This time they took something equal to two pieces of the chicken, chopped it up into bunch of small chunks and served it. I felt totally cheated and when I complained she says "Thats how they make it!". $15 for lattice and chicken crumples. Shameful really. This place is the Best Home made Persian Food in Arizona. My favorite dish is the mix grill Chicken koobideh "Ground beef"combo with Rice and salad. Everything on the menu is so delicious. I would eat this everyday if this place opened up down the street from my house. It's a good 25 min drive to get some awesome Persian food from where I live but it's so worth it. The food quality over all has been pretty good. This is the closest Persian restaurant near Chandler which is within 16mile radius of me so I'm very grateful to have found them. All other restaurants are 45miles away. This is definitely the place I come to when i'm craving Persian food. I do love their Koobideh. The kababs are always done right and delicious. The rice is always right on as well. The prices are very good. The value for your buck is right on. As Persian food is not cheap! Typically very expensive elsewhere. Unfortunately however, I do have to say they seem to never get the orders right. I take the food home and realize things are missing out of my order, or it was prepared incorrectly. I feel they can really improve on that. It's important to have persons that can understand and communicate properly at the register and on the phone that take orders. I do absolutely recommend you try this little place. You will not be disappointed. :-) read more
