Accidentally stumbled into this place today. Literally just walked right in without checking yelp first! I am new to town and tried to go to the bakery nextdoor but it was closed on Tuesdays. It was close to lunchtime so we decided to try Zoftig. Got the Korean BBQ Burrito. Wow. So good. Perfect amount of spicy and loved the pickled veggies. It was perfect. I ordered the zubano. First few bites were good then I started tasting old ham. I opened the sandwich and the ham was an ugly brownish grey and really dried out. I picked it off and ate the rest of the sandwich. I didn't complain as I had taken some friends for lunch that had recommended this place and didn't want to embarrass them. I looked forward to my first visit as most reviews have been good. I had the Poke Bowl. Very disappointing. The brown rice was too old. It was flavorless and dry, dry, dry. I am grossed out when restaurants serve food that has been kept over-night for several days. I won't eat it at home so don't want to pay for it when I eat out. The rice was way past its prime. Ditto for the roasted sweet potatoes. Sorry but they don't taste good after a day. The texture gets weird too. I know it is a lot of work to keep making fresh items, but you created a restaurant with a concept that demands fresh ingredients! It's taken me awhile to finally try Zoftig even though it's a few blocks from my house. Was wanting falafel and they offer a falafel wrap. I just LOVED it. Fresh fresh fresh ingredients, carrots, hummus, perfectly pickled onion (I HATE raw onions), warm soft and wonderfully seasoned falafels, crispy on the outside, and a hint of shredded mint. Tahini sauce was outstanding. All wrapped up in a whole wheat tortilla wrap. And it was perfect that way. Falafel sandwiches made with the traditional pita pocket bread always fall apart about halfway through. Not so here. I can only speak to the Korean burrito, that I've had delivered probably 20 times now, and the breakfast wrap/burrito that I just had delivered now. The Korean burrito is everything. Spicy srirachay ground beef, brown rice, creamy avocado, tons of (maybe pickled?) veggies, and kimchi. It's spicy, sweet, crunchy, creamy, and feeling healthy while eating a burrito is a rare feat. The breakfast burrito I just had was equally delish! Bacon, eggs, cheddar, potatoes, avocado and I asked in the notes to add sour cream and hot sauce and they did! It held up perfectly during delivery. When COVID is over I promise I'll come in to give you all a giant tip! Thank you! Tried this place for lunch today. Its one of those wait in line, order, pay and then hope you can find a seat where you can eat your food. I got the roasted chicken sandwich. The roasted chicken sandwich didn't have very much chicken on it (it was a breadwich for $10.50 plus tax ala carte); there was a mixture of white and dark meat that was kind of dry. The bad part was when I got this big ol' crunchy chunk of sinew in the chicken on my sandwich like the top of a chicken leg or something. Really gross; I had to spit out what I had in my mouth. It started with the indifferent almost surly service at the counter - maybe because I tip after I've got my food not before! and in this instance definitely not after. Though the restaurant was empty mid afternoon they did have a few to go orders. It took 20mins to get a to go salad, the staff never said a word until they plonked it on the counter - didnt offer napkins or cutlery. I tried the eggplant salad which had 3 small rounds of eggplants and a few underripe cherry tomatoes. The sauce was flavorful but overall the experience left me deciding to spend my $ at goguette next door which is the exact opposite. I had a few coworkers tell me of this new place around the corner from the hospital and that they had beautiful salads, I ordered the spinach $11.50 with farro (grain wheat) it came with bacon, Onion hard boiled egg and you can add a protein for $3.00 more, I chose chicken which was just right, the dressing was a Sherry Mustard Vinaigrette light and tasty, oh and it was huge! I actually brought it home and my husband ate the other half. It was a lil pricy $18.98 for salad and a mini Pelligrino I feel it was worth it because it was a very hearty salad. The service was quick the gal was helpful and I'm Sure I didn't wait more than 10 minutes all in all a very lovely experience I can't wait to come back and try a new salad. The decor is a lil sparse and they have two big TVs so I watched a tennis game and for me it doesn't get more convenient I literally have to drive past it on my way home from work. This is a great breakfast-lunch place, especially for an excellent and quick, informal lunch. They have a great range of salads and sandwiches and everything we have had is excellently prepared. The two which stand out at the moment are the falafel wrap and roasted chicken sandwich. They have a nice selection of beers - although that's usually not going to be great for lunch during work - plus teas, sodas,etc. They did a pretty good job of sprucing up the interior, which for a long time was Sonoma Taco Shop. The points which really stand out are the care and imagination which go into the choices, which could otherwise be rather mundane if not done so well. That is particularly nice for an informal place to get a quick, easy meal, a niche that is often lacking. read more

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious lunch here last week. Owner - Chef Matt Spector is such a talent that he could open a hot dog cart and it would be fantastic. His resume includes the much acclaimed Matyson in Philadelphia and also Jole in Calistoga. You just knew that this casual lunch spot would be really good. Zoftig is casual, you order at the counter, pick a table and your order is brought to the "pick up" area as your name is called. It's a big menu, lots of sandwiches, wraps, salads and bowls to pick from. On the salads it's "build your own" so your sure to get all the ingredients you want. Every item is freshly made and prepared. We had a couple of different sandwiches for lunch. The Bahn Mi had porchetta, chicken liver mousse, pickled carrot and radish, romaine, cilantro, mint and jalapeño mayo. Man this is a great sandwich. DW had the Turkey sandwich with cheddar, bacon, avocado, lettuce and House mayo. Another excellent sandwich that she loved. There is a small basket of homemade sweet treats (Matt's wife is the awesome dessert chef). We had the Citrus Shortbread cookies which were full of flavor and the perfect texture. I stopped by a couple years ago to pick up a couple salads to bring to a friend's and they were so good and made with such a fresh array of ingredients, that I now go back every couple weeks to pick them up for home. I don't write a lot of reviews but really want to thank the Zoftig team for both the delicious food they prepare and the great service. I hadn't eaten there since before Covid. So I took a friend there for lunch today. The extensive (almost overwhelming) pre-Covid menu has been pared down but having fewer choices is kind of a relief for me. And there is still plenty to choose from. After asking almost everyone there how they liked what they were eating and hearing nothing but 'YUM!', we finally made our choices. I was transported by my Maccabee bowl. I usually avoid salads, feeling I can make these at home. But the Maccabee is full of things I could never make (like the amazing falafels). And it's enough for two meals. Hard to believe something healthy can be so delicious. My friend had the Korean burrito, raved about it, and also took half home for dinner. We shared a little key lime pie that was just to die for. We can't wait to go back to try the mushroom banh mi. Staff is friendly and efficient, though I suggest you get there by 11:00 AM to avoid delays. Much of their business is "take out," but they have ample tables as well. Go for it. One of the best meals I've had in days and days. Perfectly imaginative menu that is fun without being wacky. Damn fresh, flavorful and fun. The food is casual but if you know to look for it you'll see plenty of craftsmanship on your plate. Everything I've ever ordered from this place is phenomenal. My usual go to lunch The Macabi Salad which is fantastic combination of flavors. I just ordered The Build Your Own salad option today, and think I found another favorite here. I had roasted chicken, carrots, red onion, zucchini, roasted peppers, yams, brown rice, and a hard boiled egg over a bed of spinach with homemade balsamic dressing. It was wonderful! The salad weighed 2 pounds- I really got my moneys worth. Plus I am on a strict diet, and they have excellent healthy options that actually are compliant with my diet. I'm amazed I found a place that I can actually out while on my diet! Also if you ever see the homemade coconut cream pie's in the cold case, They are absolutely delicious! Yes, not currently part of my diet, maybe save for a cheat day? Also the online ordering system they have in place runs like a fine oiled machine. I usually order online and it makes for such a fast pick up. The service is always great and friendly. I can't say enough good things about this establishment. This food was a treat. My husband loved the Korean burrito and I could not have loved the grilled sweet potatoes more! They were amazing.
