Stopped by late one Sunday after a show nearby. This actually came as a recommendation from a friend who used to come to Zoku for a late night bite quite a few years ago. She was a bit nervous visiting after so long, wondering if they were still good. Well, they certainly are! Zoku is an extremely solid late night sushi and Thai joint. The food came out quickly and it was delicious and filling. I got an oshinko and a salmon lover maki. The maki was pretty good, definitely a repeat order for me. If you're looking for a later spot in Logan Square, you can't go wrong with Zoku!

I came here as a final stop for my weekend in Chicago. I have some mixed emotions. There wasn't a wait to get in, but the vibes in this place were just a little off. The graphics on the wall were a bit strange and the music playing was odd. The reason we came were the crab rangoons, which I thoroughly enjoyed. So so good! I also ordered their gyoza & they were also good, perfectly crispy. Finally, I got their cucumber salad which honestly I could have loved without Now, the sushi... I didn't quite like my sushi very much. I got the Yosemite and there was just too much fish going on in the roll. My friend ordered a dragon roll and accidentally got the Godzila. Despite it being sent on accident, the Godzila ended up being my favorite roll of the night. Pretty good place, probably wouldn't go again.

Absolutely delicious! I order from Zoku twice, online and in-person, both experiences were great. Although they're slightly pricey, I believe they're worth it. Their flavor, portions sizes, and customer service are great.

I really enjoyed my service and food at Zoku Sushi. I ordered my food as take out and was done fairly quickly, for fresh food. I went at a late time, and the workers were very friendly. Also, Zoku Sushi had a very nice atmosphere and simple layout. I recommend coming to Zoku Sushi.

Small neighborhood restaurant with lots of flavor. Fresh quality, great tasting food, served with smiles! Food: Takoyaki - 5/5 - excellent savory bite size balls Calamari - 5/5 - battered and deep fried; bland, MUST dip in the sweet and sour sauce Fried scallops - 5/5 - battered scallops best tasting when served with its dipping sauce Spider maki mono - 4/5 - great but not exceptional Dragon roll - 5/5 - fresh & fantastic taste Chicago roll - 5/5 - very unique and savory taste Pad Thai - 5/5 - great, even better after squeezing lime into it to give it a more sweet and sour taste Pad kee mao (Drunken noodle) - 5/5 - great tasting balance of carbs, proteins and veggies Pad see ew - 5/5 - another great tasting Thai classic Noodle panang - 5/5 - large rice noodles in sweet spicy curry, for those who enjoy both Basil fried rice - 4.5/5 - soy/saltiness balance was a little off Zoku fried rice - 4.5/5 - I liked the cashews and pineapple but didn't like that it had too many green onion/scallions Curry fried rice - 5/5 - best of both worlds, i.e., fried rice and curry Massaman curry - 4.5/5 - yes it has sweet potato/yam but I feel the version here is more creative, including ingredients that I don't see at other Thai places e.g, carrots, bell peppers and onions Penang curry - 4.5/5 - this also had creative, colorful medley of veggies including carrots, broccoli, bell peppers and baby corn Mochi ice cream - 5/5 - fun bite sized dessert that's not too sweet Thai iced tea - mediocre!!! Ambience: Small cozy neighborhood restaurant with dim lit atmosphere and contemporary hip decor Service: Fast and friendly. Partner/owner, Patcha, very friendly and handsome young man.

Zoku Sushi is a solid option for both Thai and Sushi! I didn't go for any the sashimi but the maki rolls did me just fine from Zoku. All rolls I tried were tasty and ingredients seemed as fresh as expected. I had the Sweet Potato Maki ($6), Shiitake Mushroom Maki ($5) and Spicy Tuna Maki ($6) were all tasty and portions were good. Same goes for the entrees I ordered Pad Thai and Pad See Ewe - both $10. Enjoyable, solid noodle Thai dishes. Quick delivery and happy with everything! I wouldn't hesitate to order from Zoku again.

We got some katsu Don (the rice and eggs are delicious), tuna & avocado, and rolls

The dining…read moreroom isn't huge, but it has this lively energy that makes it feel exciting instead of crowded. I even was able to watch the chefs cooking just a few feet away. I could hear the sizzling from the grill, smell the food cooking, and by that point I was more than ready to eat. Our server was really nice and gave us a bunch of recommendations. Everything sounded good, but I ended up going with the Pork Belly Yakisoba. This dish was packed with flavor. The noodles had that smoky, slightly charred taste, and they were coated in just enough sauce to make every bite rich. The sauce brought a nice balance of savory, a little sweetness, and plenty of umami that soaked into the noodles. The pork belly was easily the best part. It was incredibly tender and juicy, with just enough fat that it practically melted in your mouth. Every piece had those caramelized edges that added even more flavor. Then you get the crunch from the cabbage and bean sprouts, the freshness from the scallions, and the little nutty flavor from the sesame that tied everything together. Hahaha I'd definitely come back. This is one of those dishes that sticked with me long after I left.

I got the pork okonomiyaki lunch set and added a fried egg to it. I like that the table has a built in grill to keep it warm (I'm a slow eater, so this is extra beneficial for me). The bacon was quite salty, compounded by the okonomi sauce. Hoping the kombu vegetables would offset this, I mixed them into each bite to no avail. The pandan coconut mochi donut holes I chose were probably the highlight. They were crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and there was ample sauce for dipping. I think some people would find the service top notch here--constantly checking in on me and keeping water refilled. I guess that came with a cost: 3% service charge automatically applied, and the server proactively brought over a digital payment system, so the 18% tip I selected calculated off the total leading to what was essentially a tip of 23%.

Had the tonkotsu with spice umami (it's always a hit), the sesame mai tai, and my husband had the spicy chicken paitan ramen and naked & famous. I was surprised at how tasty his ramen was! The Alaskan cod sandwich was served on a bed of cabbage covered in a sweet teriyaki & brown mustard sauce with maybe a squeeze of kewpie sprinkled in between. The Berkshire pork eggrolls had microgreens & shaved radish on top of a crema type of sauce that balanced the heat of the kimchi nicely!! For the main attraction I ordered the spicy garlic ramen that was such a delightful mouth experience it really hit all the taste buds! The noodles were perfectly bouncy with the right amount of chew. The jellied egg was perfect and rounded the soup very well! The red chili threads enhanced the spicy miso broth just enough to slurp all the delicious goodness down! My husband ordered the Sapporo miso soup which had more of a creamy type of broth vs the spicy garlic. The noodles were also thinner than regular ramen & had a bouncy springy texture that just hit the spot! Since it was kinda chilly outside we also ordered hot green tea to accompany our spectacular ramen dishes. This place also offers delicious seasonal cocktails on the menu or hot sake if that's what you are hankering for. Definitely try this ramen joint if you are in the Logan square area your tummy will be so happy that you did!!

Also tried 2 pieces of their limited fish for the day. We went before a night shift so couldn't try any drinks. I liked ThugLife2 the most, light, refreshing and good crunch from the jalapeño. Riverwalk was oily feeling with the tempura crunch, so not my favorite but if you like tempura, this is good. Sin nombre had interesting complex flavor but light with the yuzu marinade. The albacore was seared so slight firmer texture. The sashimi we got came with grated ginger and soy sauce and I didn't have to dip it at all. The texture was firm but not chewy, very fresh.

The ambiance was really nice with cool snippets of anime on the wall without being tacky. We got the tater tots, the dragon ball roll, and the chicago spring roll. The tater tots were hot and fresh dressed in a tograshi blend, truffle mayo, parmesan cheese and cilantro. I personally didn't love this combo of flavors too much, but my mom enjoyed them! The roll presentation was absolutely stunning. I was actually blown away by the sauces, which were customized by color but also flavor, so they actually were great to dip in. I was blown away by the hot sauce they used for the dragon breath, it had a real kick to it. Unfortunately i didn't like the eel quality tho, i think the roll would have been just fine without it and i found myself having to spit out some fatty piece to the eel that wasn't melting or going anywhere. The roll itself was way more filling than it looks too. The service was good! It got slower as the restaurant got busier but our water's stayed getting refilled which was good. I also absolutely love the bathroom! I was thrilled to see the extra thought they put into having feminine products AND mouthwash! That was the perfect touch and i wish more restaurants had it. They do charge 20% gratuity by standard, so just make sure you don't accidentally tip again later cuz they may not remember to point it out to you.
