Here we go, This little gem located on Jamaica Ave is a must go to store. Such a variety of selections for any and every type of ailment you may be experiencing. It's available for purchase. This shop is located right across the street from the Cookies children's clothing store. The clerks were very friendly and knowledgeable about everything in the shop. All herbs were in alphabetical order. Just walking into the shop, you felt a sense of peace. Organization was the key in this shop. Everything was in order from the front to the back of this shop. Variety of spiritual items as well as herbs, tinctures, incense, powders, books, crystals, etc. Most herbs are sold by ounces. So far this is the only herb shop that had goldenseal left. As soon as I walked in, my cousin and I was warmly greeted. Sayge, one of the employees, was especially friendly and accommodating. She was patient and took her time assisting me, offering helpful recommendations for high blood pressure and menstrual health. This review is only for their Nostrand Ave location: My experience here has been consistently hit or miss. About half the time, there's an herbalist on staff who's very knowledgeable and helpful. But the other half of the time, you may end up with someone who genuinely doesn't know herbs at all--and that's not just inconvenient, it can be dangerous. Once, we were asking for specific herbs to use medicinally, and the staffer began weighing and labeling a completely different herb without realizing it. I only caught the error because I happened to glance at the original container--he was about to give us the wrong plant entirely, mislabeled as the one we requested. That's the herbal equivalent of a pharmacist giving you the wrong medication. On another visit, I asked for an herb and was told they didn't carry it. But I decided to double-check their main wall of jars myself, and sure enough--it was right there. This same staffer has also given me poor advice about replacements when they're out of something and seems to lack basic herbal knowledge. They doubled their prices this year, which feels like an odd move in a neighborhood with several other great Caribbean-run herb shops just up and down the block offering similar herbs for half the price. The only consistently strong point of this shop is their wide and diverse selection of herbs. If you choose to go, I'd recommend coming prepared and knowing what you're looking for--especially in case you end up with staff who aren't very informed. I've never been to their Jamaica Ave location, which seems to be their main focus. It's also where they seem to host all their workshops. Unfortunately, for those of us in the Crown Heights/Bed-Stuy area, the Nostrand location feels like an (expensive) afterthought. read more

Sweet baby Jesus- I have not been this impressed in a VERY long time. I woke up one day like do I need to cleanse my yoni and did a deep dive into what that entailed which led me to this place. First on the Google list of search's I left my house on a Quest to Zola's. The beginning was more of a choppy adventure because the map said it was here and then there and then I just called because it's in my neighborhood but where is it?! Its located directly across from Cookies on Jamaica Ave -apparently they moved. Anyway after finding it- I was in herb heaven. A young man assisted me and seemed very much into telling me how things can be used for spirituality in the most condescending way- but I was AMUSED. Herbs can be used for so many things from spirituality to healing to CANDLE MAKING which is what I am currently doing in my spare time (making candles to sell). No one knew it while I was standing there but I had just found a missing piece to my puzzle in life right there in that store yesterday afternoon. The service was quick and easy and the staff seemed knowledgeable, welcoming and polite even tho it seemed like a secret society. There was a woman who walked about and told me to join their group and told me that they have tea sessions- she could have said they were giving out free money all I know is here ENERGY was wildly inviting and it took 100% of my concentration to try to look aloof because I spent like $50 on dry herbs and they way things were going she probably could have sold me the moon. Like I went BONKERS. Calendula, Peppermint, Rose petal, lemon balm, mugwort, lavender, camomile, yarrow, rosemary, like 11 bags of 1ounce each prices at different points. It's beautifully organized, bright, spacious and their selection seemed endless. I got what I needed to make my own yoni cleanse even tho they had premade stuff like stop it yall I love it here and hope to meet again for tea. I had needed to buy some bulk tea and flowers for an event I was having, and in my head I had envisioned a shop that was lined with jars of tea, herbs, spices, flowers, etc. I went in a mission to find something close to what I was looking for, and after trying 2 herbal shops that did not have a good selection, then 2 shops that listed their business hours as open but when I arrived they were closed (frustrating!), I was about to give up hope, when I said to myself "just search one more time"....then Zolas on Nostrand popped up on the map. I called to make sure they were open, and when I arrived my jaw dropped bc it was the shop of my dreams! It was actually better than the imaginary tea shop in my head. They had walls and walls of jars, beautifully presented and neatly labeled. Clean and bright, with a thoughtful layout that did not feel cramped or hid the products behind counters. The staff was so kind and helpful, and the prices were not bad. I found exactly what I was looking for and MORE! I got so many compliments on the tea selection I provided at the event, and although we had an OPEN BAR, to my pleasant surprise I saw MORE guests walking around with teacups instead of liquor. The tea that was recommended has been very helpful with my seasonal allergies. The staff's knowledge and insight were very helpful.

I had bought a lot of herbs from here. However a bag or two contained bugs. I returned to the shop and was told that they were bed bugs and that I would not get a refund because it was too long. It was not bed bugs and the ladies were very dismissive. Another reviewer had this experience. Needless to say I will not return here. I recently attended their Vitalist program and I have quite a few things to say about this establishment. As far as the shop, products, and the staff, its lovely. The staff is knowledgeable and the products are good quality but very expensive . The store is clean and organized but at times they run out of high demand products for long periods of time. Your better off calling to make sure they have the product prior to going. As for their vitals program, the open house was marvelous but once I entered the class it was a totally different story. The course is 8-9 months long, given either weekends or weekdays. The course cost over $2800 and it does not include your books, detox or class trips. Which they failed to mention during their open house. There are 12 books in total to buy and they range from $25-$50 each. The books they sell you are prepared by master herbalist Zola. The problem here is she takes information from other books, internet blogs, other herbalist interviews. She prints the information and binds them in to a book. If you google one sentence you can find It in the internet word for word. To sum it up, plagiarisms! Another issue that presented it self were the teachers. They were very nice but did not have enough experience to teach such a complex course. The teachers failed to teach the class in a manner that all would understand while still covering all the material. At times they would ramble on because they did not know how to explain the material. We expected for the master herbalist to teach the class but she barely did so. Class would start from 9am to 4pm, master herbalist would arrive after 12pm. Oh and they hardly ever started class on time. It was very disorganized. Last but not least, the night of meals. The school was to provide one day of 100 different vegetarian dishes to the class but it was cancelled. Her excuse was she did not have the funds to do so. It was about 10 students in my class multiply that by $2800 and you don't have the money? Give me a break! There are other places in NYC that you can attend that will teach you everything they know, and respect you as their students, and follow through with their curriculum. I feel this establishment was more interested in gaining the money than teaching. So please, love yourself enough to research a place that will teach you properly, and not undermine you. The Vitalist Program teaches it's students and anyone who desires to learn how nature provides for us in ways that modern medicine fails. The owner been in business for 25 years, yet, she is extremely disorganized, dishonest, and deceitful. She is disorganized because there was no outline of what was to be discussed. Therefore, students were sitting idling in class. When brought to her attention, it was as if a topic was created on the spot. Not having an outline lead to the owner and her assistances talking about the same topic over and over again. A solution to this is to stay holding workshops and NOT a school where she charged $2,900. She is dishonest because she deliberately left out information. Initially when advertising her school she said that the fee was $2900. What she doesn't disclose to you is the 12 books you have to purchase ranging from $25 to $40, also, the field trips. She is deceitful because the books that she charges you were plagiarized from certain websites sites, such as "EDU" Furthermore, she is deceitful because she claimed how the "other" class was ahead in class materials. That "other" class was not ahead and talking about the same topic. Both classes were leveled. If you decide to attend her school, you'll be spending upwards to $5,000. read more

Hey! Let me tell you about the Original Herbal Remedies, better known as the Original Herbal Center. It is an amazing place located in Jamaica Queens, NY. I highly recommend you visit this place if you are looking for a natural remedy to any ailment. I recommend trying some Elderberry tea it really does enhances the immune system and I really love drinking this tea. Another thing about Original Herbal Remedies, there are always workshops that will inform you about the benefits of using herbs. (Attend one this summer)!
