Nestled inside the Frothy Beard is some of Charleston's most tasty, traditional NY style pizza. Bring your dog, order a cold one, throw an axe, it's all good! When did Charleston start overthinking pizza? ZB's keeps it real...BIG. The 20" was VERY filling...and tasty. Zombie Bob's Pizza is located inside Frothy Beard Brewing, and while it isn't my favorite pizza in town, it's a solid option for bar food. I love that Frothy Beard has Zombie Bob's inside with a set menu. Other breweries have food trucks that set up on some nights, but those schedules are bound to change and trucks cancel. With Frothy/Zombie Bob's, you know what you're getting. The slices of pizza are big- if you're not super hungry, it is shareable, but even if you are hungry, you'll probably just want one slice. It is $6 a slice, and toppings are $1, so you can easily end up with a $9-10 slice of pizza. The pizza itself didn't wow me. It isn't fancy- the marinara base sauce (only option) is a little spicy, and the crust is a beer-infused sourdough thin crust. I love this place! I keep coming back and bringing friends and family with me! Especially after they see the ridiculously large pizza slices! They tell me they NEED a picture with the pizza to send their to friends and family! I've ordered a 20" pizza for take-out and I've also ordered the monster pizza slices for lunch. I love the lunch special of $3.00 off a slice and a beer. My kids love the little play area and the "old school" video games that you can play! Actually, I love the video games too! The restaurant and bathrooms are clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and they even explained all the Star Trek and Star Wars décor to me. We had a friendly debate over whether or not the newer Star Wars movies were worthwhile. I'm a purist. Gimme the older movies any day of the week! You can see the brewery through the glass at the bar area, which is neat. I wonder if I can tour the brewery portion? That would be fun! As for the pizza itself, it is delish! It's HUGE and the sauce has a bit of a spicy kick to it, but not so much that my kids couldn't eat it. There is no way I could eat more than one slice and sometimes I can't even finish one whole slice! When ordering, just head up to the bar. They don't have servers that will come around to take your order. However, they'll give you a number and bring your slices and/or to-go pizza to wherever you're seated. I came here with a group of friends for lunch one day. It was my 1st time coming here. I really enjoyed the layout and atmosphere of the place. It's located within the Frothy Beard Brewery, which is pretty cool! The "monster slice" is exactly what it's name says it is. A monster! The jank is huge I tell ya! Definitely only need one slice of this pizza to greatly satisfy your hunger. Anything more than just one slice is like one of the Man vs Food challenges. The chicken wings were pretty tasty as well. On May 26, 2019 at approximately 1300 hours I, Dante G., responded to Zombie Bob's located at 1401 Sam Rittenburg Boulevard Suite 1, which is located in the jurisdiction of the city of Charleston, county of Charleston, and state of South Carolina in reference to a possible hanger outbreak. Not the accoutrement for clothing. Upon arrival, I entered through the right of center double doors located on the A-side of the business. The initial seating location was next to the stairwell, however, relocated to a more centrally located table after ordering. The business is a seat yourself, order at the bar location. I moved to the bar to order where I was met with an unknown female white. I began the order process; a slice of cheese, a slice of pepperoni and black olive, and an order of cheese sticks. I was abruptly I interrupted and directed to wait, because the unknown female White had to enter things individually. Confuse tell two slices of pizza in an order of breadsticks would be overwhelming, I patiently waited ordered a couple of waters and received my number to go sit at the table. I took in the general atmosphere of the location. Zombie Bob's led me to expect a slightly different theme. There was Zelda memorabilia, Star Wars ships in a great space battle overhead, and a wall dedicated to the Game of Thrones houses. I saw no zombie references. No photos of George Romero, no references to King County, Georgia, not even an Umbrella. Just mainstream stuff. The very large cheese sticks and and slices arrived together. I guess my definition of appetizer and theirs is slightly different. The breadsticks, made with beer infused sourdough, were fairly tasty. 2 ramekins of sauce accompanied the cheese sticks, which wasn't nearly enough. But, that's not a complaint. Nobody ever gives enough sauce. After hacking my way through the poorly sliced cheese sticks, I decided to attack the pizza. The claim is that they have the largest slices in Charleston. Without some hard data, I cannot save this is true. I can also not say that it is not true, because the slices were pretty big. The crust was thin, butthead significant strength to hold the toppings. I stretched it out, Ben the crosstab it, began to eat. The songs had a little kick, which makes it stand above the majority of pizza places in Charleston. A chewy yet strong crust delivered the toppings perfectly. There's no cable service, so when my water went dry, it is expected that I go refill it. Which makes me question why I tipped 18%, the lowest option provided, to the wait staff. If you wouldn't tip a McDonald's employee, don't tip these folks. Sadly, I probably will not return. The food is good, don't get me wrong. But the atmosphere and service leaves something to be desired. If I were going to have a son named Brock that would take advantage of unconscious girls, if I wore sandals with jeans, or if I want to talk about how great I was, this would be my place. Zombie Bob's has some good pizza! The Monster slice at $6 is Yuge and almost enough for 2 people. At $6 a slice it a decent value, the additional toppings will add $1 each. We've enjoyed the monster slice on multiple visits to Frothy Beard, and even ordered a whole pizza and took the rest home. The tomato sauce is just a tiny sweet, but it is good. They have other offerings on the menu like a calzone, bread sticks, baked chicken wings, a Chicago style deep dish pizza, etc. The deep dish will take time (45 minutes), and there are 4 different ones. We had that once, and found it challenging to eat. The crust was soft on the bottom, and when serving it was hard to get a nice slice. The cheese, sauce and all ran all over. But we liked it, not sure we'd order again. But overall Zombie Bob's offers some good food to go with FB beer, and we would order again. Pizza has definitely improved recently, although it's going to cost at least $10 a slice to get decent pizza. I wasn't able to see an itemized receipt until I emailed it to myself. I was surprised that Frothy Beard/Zombie Bob's charges a credit card processing fee. I feel that this is something which should be advertised to customers. If it was on a sign somewhere, I didn't see it, or else I'd have paid cash. Was super pumped to try Zombie Bob's at their new location in West Ashley. Their partnership is a perfect match, because nothing goes better with pizza than beer (or maybe more pizza). I stopped by for lunch and brought my laptop to take advantage of their free wifi #WorkFromHomeLife I tried the lunch special, which is a large slice with 1 topping (I chose pepperoni) with a pint for $9. The slice was HUGE, like much bigger than I was anticipating (I should've looked at the pictures first). I absolutely love the sourdough crust that uses the beer that Frothy brews; it's so much more flavorful than your typical pizza crust. The pizza itself is nice and thin and crispy, so it was a nice crunch when you bite into it. My main complaint was the cheese-to-crust ratio. The cheese seemed to be sporadically applied, with not as much coverage as I would've liked. It also appeared to only be barely melted, despite the fully cooked nature of the crust. We decided to try out their pizza's after my husband had a great experience ordering them for work. We got here at 2 on a weekday and it was busier than I expected. We weren't sure how we were supposed to seat ourselves since this place is located in a brewery, so I asked the bar tender if we could sit at their large high top table. It is open seating there so make sure you grab a table quick if you see one open. We had to order from the bar and got the pizzadilla, pretzel, spinach salad, and two pizzas. I guess we didn't realize that was probably a lot of food for people. The thing that makes their pizza different is the beer infused sourdough crust. I would say it did have a different taste compared to a conventional pizza, almost a whole wheat taste. I was the only person who ate the spinach salad but it was surprisingly good with the balsamic. Everyone liked the pretzel since that was gone by the end of the meal. The pizzadilla was interesting but I would focus more on the pizza next time. Our favorite pizza was the white sauce with garlic, feta, and chicken. I see that they have deep dish pizza's but I don't remember seeing that on the menu when we went there. They also have a King of Pops freezer in the back for dessert. I really enjoyed the cookies and cream popsicle which I don't normally like because it has Oreo cookies in it, but this was chunks of chocolate chip cookies... yummy!! I would definitely come back here with a group or just a few people and try more combinations of their pizza. I drive by the Zombie truck all the time at Frothy Beard, but have never stopped in until last night. Kids wanted pizza, and rather than get the usual delivery, I suggested the Zombie, and they were instantly curious. Pizza from a Zombie? Who wouldn't want to try it. We seated ourselves in a new room in the back which had shuffleboard and video games (nice!) and placed our order at the bar. I went with the Monster Slice which is about the size of a quarter of a large pizza. My daughter didn't think I could finish it, but I did, and still had room for a slice of her Hawaiian pizza. I was toast after that though. Leftovers for lunch! We also ordered the cheese bread for an appetizer, and it's like a loaf of bread that they slice the long way and then pile cheese on. Yum! Overall, I was very happy with this choice, and will be back again! On a side note, a deep dish pizza takes about 45 minutes to cook, so plan ahead, and don't drink too much before the pie gets to you or you'll be either too full or drunk to enjoy it. read more

Awesome selection, not too heavy in terms of one style versus another. The west coast ipa (dude something, my apologies for not remembering the name) and my girlfriend had the 9 3/4 (nice Harry Potter reference). Pizza was gigantic and delicious, a couple slices and you'll be full. Overall the space was cool, nerdy, and had a little something for most everyone. Pizza was very good. I had the ham and pineapple with red wine and it was very tasty. I brought my daughter and she enjoyed the video games. Our timing was good so she was able to meet some other kids to enjoy. She enjoyed her cheese slice. We came on a Sunday so our Monster Slice was $3 Off, which was a nice surprise. The only thing I didn't like was having to order at the bar. Getting refills on my daughter's root beer became an issue as I had to get up in the middle of my meal. I came here expecting a restaurant and was pleasantly surprised when I found out that it was also attached to a brewery. It's safe to say you definitely get your bang for your buck here with food. A 20" three topping pizza cost us about $25 and it was more than enough to feed two people (I GROSSLY overestimated just how much we could eat and we actually ended up taking half our pizza to-go ). From someone who prides himself on eating a lot, one of their monster slices is enough to fill the average person. In addition to the quantity, the quality of the pizza hit the spot as well. The pizza was delicious, but I especially loved the crust. They supposedly use a beer sourdough which was incredibly tasty and irresistible. I will give it another try but when we got back to eat it the cheese stuck to the foil they wrap it in and it all came off. Zombie Bob's provides cheap pizza. You get a large slice for about $6. The crust is a dense, wheat-colored beer crust. It's about the same thickness as New York-style pizza though. The sauce is less acidic and less concentrated. It tastes more like fresh tomatoes that have been crushed into a sauce. The cheese was good, but for cheese lovers, there was not enough cheese to necessarily cause cheese strands when taking a bite and pulling away. That all being said, I would count it as decent pizza if you like the above described. The crust was cooked well (slightly crispy). However, I prefer EVO pizza in North Charleston because its crust is more airy/light and crispy/thin (although overpriced). Although Zombie Bob's has a children's play area, I would not recommend this restaurant for families bringing children. It's more of a bar scene for adults. You order at the bar counter, take a number, and then the food is brought to you. Overall, I would not really recommend this place unless you're just needing something cheap. read more

Ok, Now that I have finally gotten the chance to sample both the sliced and deep dish pizza, I feel that I can finally write a fair (and Sober) review. I never got a chance to experience the food truck known as Zombie Bob's (ZB), but I have had the chance to have several slices, and a few pies from ZB's. The pizza is amazingly different. Large slices, cut from a 30" pie, and if you want your own pie, I believe their 20" pie is the largest in the Low Country this side of Savannah. The toppings are great, the crust, crispy, light, and chewy, with the savory, sweet taste of the local porter brew, mixed in from the Frothy Beard Brewery. As of this post, this IS the best Slice of pizza I have had in Charleston! (#2 is now Famulari's) So why the 4 stars? Well remember when I said I got to sample BOTH the styles of pizza? I have to honestly give the deep dish a pass. While it is the same sweet crust, and the fresh and tasty toppings and the plethora of melted cheese, there is a point where the cheese to crust ratio matters when get a deep dish pizza. This is where I felt it was lacking. A Solid 3 star experience with the deep dish. The pizza tastes GREAT, but it is not a great eating experience. It is messy and loose, with cheese oozing all over the place until about 15 minutes later when the pizza has cooled down. Considering the deep dish is a 45 minute expected wait, to wait another 15 minutes before it takes form enough to enjoy the experience I don't think it is a fair trade off. Am I comparing it to a deep dish from South Chicago? No, but compared to a deep dish in West Ashley? There are other options. My Tip: Stick with the thin crust, and if you get the bread sticks, get it with cheese! LD read more

I tried Zombie bobs when they were selling outside my apartment. I got the 16 inch pizza with Jalapenos, sausage, mushroom and artichoke. Although the flavors in the sauce were great and the toppings were plenty, something went wrong with the cooking. The dough wasn't properly spread out evenly and when it was baked the cook was uneven. Some parts were cooked perfectly while other parts of the pizza had raw dough. It's so unfortunate because what I did eat was really yummy! I love the huge portion sizes and customization options but will rethink ordering a whole pizza next time and try for just a slice. Wow! Can you say big! Ordered the 20" pie and it was massive in size and weight ( some pies are large but carry no heft), and only $20. This is a crust not super thin, not thick like chain store thick bread junk, foldable thin if you want or may have to because the slices are so big, but a crust with a tasty goodness that is really enjoyable. A lot of cheese and greasy goodness. Not your diet pizza for sure. I truly can't wait to get another, and maybe on my next trip stay for a brew. read more

Update! Zombie B's has a permanent location now, inside the Frothy Beard brew company. The pizza is still very good. Recently had a spinach and mushrooms slice that I'm sorry to say beat Andolini's quality by a bit. A lot of spinach/mushroom (although too much cheese layered on top like a blanket). The odd thing with Zombie Bob's is that for some reason at this location there is added spice on the pizza--tastes like they add hot pepper before serving it to you. It's tolerable, but you don't want to add more hot pepper from the jar on unless you've tasted your slice first. As far as the other key component of a pizza, the crust: it's OK, but doesn't match Andolini's chewiness or overall flavor. As always there's a 10 minute or more wait for a slice to be warmed up after ordering. It seems like that could be speeded up a bit--how long can it take to heat up something in the pizza oven? Frothy Beard has a plethora of offerings on tap, none of which, I'm sorry to say, have wowed me. I've only tried 3 or 4 full glasses so far, but they all (even the Belgian ales) have a pronounced hop flavor and not a very deep one. But I'll keep trying. They probably have 20 or more on draft at any time. read more

We got the deep dish, which was what I was hoping it would be. Something I ate two slices of, enjoyed thoroughly, immediately was ashamed of myself and still full from. Good ingredients, you can tell they care enough to make a sauce that you actually notice. It IS rather tough to maneuver it initially, but if you're here, odds are that isn't a huge deal to you. Price, as I alluded to in the Frothy review, is fair and isn't the gouging one would assume a place that has a steady flow of inebriated people would pounce on. 20 bucks will get you a lot further than you would expect it to. read more

As everyone says, it's HUGE. Love the flavor of the sauce. Nice blend of spices, well proportioned with the amount of cheese. We also love the bread sticks with cheese (also huge!). I consider myself a pizza connoisseur coming from northeast Pennsylvania where pizza is life. but I had zombie Bob's pizza at the brewery last night and it was pretty fantastic. The monster slice was bigger than I could imagine and the gentleman sitting next to me had the pizza-dilla which is a quesadilla pizza thing which looked amazing and I will definitely be getting it next time I'm there. Located inside Frothy Beard brewing company, Zombie Bob's has the ideal location! Who doesn't like pizza and beer?! Especially when you can get a slice larger than your head for a mere $6!! (Additionally toppings are $1 each.) I've had there monster slice and their breadsticks here before and it wasn't my favorite but it sure was good! The breadsticks were made out of sourdough bread I think? Which was different but good! And the marinara tasted oh so fresh and I loved the chunkiness of the tomatoes! Zombie Bob's Pizza - Monster Slice! - Pizza Near Me - Charleston, South Carolina

This is solid drinking-and-hungry food truck. I would pick it over other food trucks in town since it went down easy. However,I felt my slice was pretty lacking in flavor. The crust was not notable for its flavor or texture and the ingredients seem like they were what I'd end up with if I bought pizza ingredients at Publix to make a pie at home. The slice is HUMUNGOUS, so that is a bonus if you're really hungry or sharing. Not a terrible food truck by any means - neither my hubby or I got the runs, which has happened with other Charleston food trucks. Just didn't get me really excited. read more
