Ribs are served dry and weren't bad. Pulled pork was mixed with a lot of sauce and didn't taste fresh. Chicken was a chunky mix of white and dark meat and had weird textures at times. The best thing Zombie Pig BBQ had going for it is its advertisements. Seriously, their little zombie pig is on everything--shirts, hats, and even the frozen section of meals they have. It honestly was kind of cute and had I enjoyed this place, I'm sure I'd have bought a shirt there. That being said, meh on the food. The staff was super kind and polite, but the food left a lot to be desired. We shared a plate of all their meats, plus had two sides: Cuban black beans and macaroni and cheese. Shockingly, given these parts, the Cuban black beans tasted great. I wouldn't say they were authentic given that I'm Cuban-American, but compared to everything else, they were downright heavenly. The macaroni and cheese, in comparison, was pretty bland. I'd say a Stouffer's macaroni and cheese tastes better as it is typically better seasoned. Needless to say, not a fan. The meat platter, full of ribs, pulled pork and chicken, as well as sausages, was hit or miss. The pulled chicken was dry, the ribs did not fall off the bone, but the pulled pork was great. Cannot comment on the sausages as I didn't try those. Despite the meats not being properly tender or wet, the seasoning they used in itself wasn't bad. I just feel it was missing something. I went in the early afternoon, and the place was empty. That's not a terrible thing, as it is a weekday, and most people are at work. I ordered the 3 meat sampler and a side of potato salad. My meats were pulled pork, smoked sausage, and ribs. The pulled pork and smoked sausage were outstanding! The ribs were tough, and I didn't finish them. I like a Mayo-based potato salad, and this one was. However, it was pretty bland, so I'd probably get the baked beans if I were to go back. They serve Pepsi products, sweet and unsweetened tea. The sweet tea is good. I swear I saw in a review that they sold beer, which was one reason I was going to try out the place. I do appreciate a nice beer with my bbq. Great southern barbecue and hospitality. They were patient and gracious to a large tired and hungry family right before closing. Every one of their house sauces was worthwhile. Their vinegar mustard sauce was not something I'd seen before in a long experience with a variety of southern barbecue traditions and their pulled chicken was in the top 5 I've had. For a quality test-I ate long after I quit being hungry and everything tasted just as good. Highly recommend stopping by here if you're in the area and making a trip if you're not too far away. Great bbq place in north Columbus. It's a small restaurant in a short strip mall in a nicer part of Columbus. The employees were friendly and inside clean. Just a few seats. Not an extensive menu, but a few solid options. Their $8 lunch special is a good deal for bbq, two sides and a drink. Highly recommend you give Zombie Pig a try if you're a fan of good bbq. Some of the best bbq I've ever had - the pulled pork was very juicy and had excellent flavor, even without sauce. But their spicy sauce is also really good, though not very spicy. They also have a sweet sauce and mustard-based, but I didn't try those. A customer there recommended their "fire water" bbq sauce. The employee gave me that "are you sure" look. Fire water is an appropriate name; only try it if you like REALLY spicy hot food or just have a death wish. Their Brunswick stew is also really good. An interesting name that will grab your attention. The owner or manager was extra nice and came around and chatted with folks. He mentioned that there would be a brisket special the next day and to come by since it's a rare occasion. The hubs and I came here around 10 ish to 11 so we had beaten the lunch crowd on this nice Thursday. As it got closer to noon, more and more folks came in to either dine or to go their food. My pick of the sausage mac dog was so so. This was what you'd imagine: a hot dog with mac and cheese. Oh. There were pickles atop that made it more unique. As interesting as it sounded, the sausage was a rather burnt looking thing. The mac and cheese sort of just toppled atop making this a rather messy item to eat. Overall, it was a unique experience, but I think I should have chosen the other dog (zombie sausage). The side of mac was okay. It looked pretty cheesy, but it lacked the flavor and wowness. Perhaps salt would have done it some justice. I do give them props since it had a nice thick, cheesy texture. It was creamy, but wasn't flavorful. The brunswick stew side was so so. It was a small sampling where I felt was pretty watery. It was more of a soup than stew imo. Though the appearance looked like it was packed with ingredients and all sorts of goodness, the flavor was meek. The hubs' 3 meats plate was a nice sampling of the variety: smoked sausage, pull pork, and ribs. The sausage was the same as in my dog so it's still burnt looking with a slightly smokey taste. The pull pork had a slight sweetness to it that made it really distinctive. The ribs were good, but you can't really dislike ribs. It had a slightly burnt profile with a balanced ratio of meat and fat. All were overall pretty average BBQ items. This place is really a solid 3 1/2 stars for me, but my experience was a positive one so 4 stars it is. read more

Ok so on our travels between PCB and Atlanta we typically stop clear view BBQ isn't back open so we decided on another high rated BBQ Zombie Pig BBQ. I will say, don't bother. Though I was really disappointed that we were not given pickles or onions (even paid extra for extra pickles). They make the sandwich! Am I right?! The potato salad was sour cream based, which I didn't realize until I tasted. I have a dairy allergy so I couldn't eat it. Hubby and I both agreed that it needed salt. The place was empty when we got there and the one woman working the counter was very sweet - great service. - The pork is fine. Not the best not the worst and has some seasoning beyond just smoke on it. Huge generous portion. 1 sandwich easily has meat for 2 sandwiches. - The sauces were mediocre. The mild is very thick and sweet. The Zombie is hot as you would expect. The mustard was sadly very hot too - was hoping for a medium at best. Was inedible to us. Don't mind heat, but want flavor not overpowered by heat. - The slaw was tasteless. It looked promising but the vegetables were so thin it had no crispness and the dressing was just wet with no flavor. The blandest slaw ever. - The Brunswick stew was inedible. One bite each and we tossed a pint away. It is thick and tastes like a bottle of ketchup. When we are back in Columbus would we try it again? Probably not. I will say their ribs were the most tender I have had in a restaurant. The issue for me was their sides. I had black beans and rice. They were just flavorless. My husband had baked beans. They tasted straight from a can. Nothing special or particularly good about them. He also had the cole slaw. It had a very strange taste, maybe seasoned with something unusual? I did not really like their selection of bbq sauces either. I tried the mustard sauce on my ribs, but it was so hot that my mouth was still burning when we left. Can care for lunch after reading with some reviews we walk in and were greeted by a semi-friendly staff they just seemed a little quiet we could hardly hear them. They offered us help with the menu which was very kind. The lobby itself was clean look like an authentic barbecue joint, and I like that the menu was up on TVs and clear and easy to read. We ordered the zombie, sausage, dog, and the sausage sandwich meal. This is what breaks my heart. The barbecue sauce is on the table were good they each had label so you knew what you were getting, which is great, but each have their own levels of flavor from Smokey to spicy to Zingy. The sausage dog came on a bun for like sausage, mac & cheese, and some pickles. The goods about it was a decent portion full length dog was nice as well as a generous person and mac & cheese, and a nice top and the pickles. The downside to it was it was a generic hotdog bun that wasn't warmed up or toasted or steamed at all. The sausage was old over churned and over cooked. The inside was mush the casing had no snap. It was very bland for mac & cheese while it was creamy and had a good amount of noodles to sauce there was no flavor. It literally tasted like just macaroni and milk the pickles I don't know if they were homemade or not but those were some of the best pickles definitely like the pickles. For the sausage sandwich meal deal had a great amount of portion was honestly surprised by how much sausage came on the sandwich, so that was great again the downsides are generic basic bun that was not toasted. The sausage was as I said, previously horrid on multiple aspects. The potato salad was good, but bland as well. I only got hints of dill. That was it. The rest of it tasted just like nothing. Definitely needed some seasoning, and again same issues with the mac & cheese as I previously stated, I did enjoy the fountain machine that had the flavor combinations you could put in your sodas or beverages. That was a nice touch. The sweet potato salad, while you could tell it was homemade and have a good flavor was literally the size of a pinky finger. It was the smallest slice of pie I've ever seen. It was half the size of a kid slice I think . Can also appreciate the fact that they are a changing station in the restroom. That was lovely . We grew up in a NC town renowned for BBQ. We felt like this is one of the better BBQ places we've tried. Zombie Pig also offers BBQ Chicken or Ribs. Overall an awesome experience at Zombie Pig. The barbecue was delicious and I REALLY enjoyed the ribs. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful. The Mac and cheese was cheesy and peppery which complimented my 2 meat sampler very well. I loved all the sauces provided at the table so I really can't choose which one I really enjoyed the most. The staff was also very friendly, the man who I assume was the owner comes up to every table and asks if you need anything and to let him know whenever if you did. My 300th review on Yelp! And of course, I would pick a BBQ place to review for my milestone review. First of all, props to picking out an eye-catching name when it comes to a BBQ joint. I bet Zombie Pig is an one-of-kind name. The decor inside isn't very decorative though. The menu hangs above the counter. I do not know if this is the norm or not, but my plate was handed to me before I walked away from the counter. I went with the 3 meat - ribs, pork, and brisket with slaw and potato salad. As far as a BBQ joint goes, all 3 meats were well-prepared. The ribs were huge spare ribs with a sweet glaze. The pork was pulled and covered with the same sweet glaze. The brisket was more like a roast. I liked the ribs and pork better, but the brisket was still pretty good. The potato salad is a chunky red potato in some kind of mayo or cream concoction with egg. I say it was ok. The slaw was crunchy and a lot of dill. I did not like it. I asked the owner, who was working the register at the counter, if I didn't like the slaw could I have something else. He said sure and made good on it. I went back to the counter and apologized about not liking the slaw. He said it wasn't for everyone and asked me what I wanted. I went with the mac and cheese which was definitely the best side. The mac and cheese looked like they poured a big can of Sam's nacho cheese on it but it certainly did not taste that way! There are 3 sauces that are each inspired by some zombie term. I don't remember the zombie terms but I can describe each sauce. The clear bottle is a sweet and rich sauce. I liked it the best. The red is like the sweet but with hot sauce. The yellow is a mustard sauce that I did not like. I usually love mustard sauce but this was an exception. It was more like a strong runny mustard. Besides the mustard sauce and the slaw, (which was replaced by the excellent service), there was one abomination that I could just not let go of. Pardon the pun but gold peak tea from a machine is an abomination I never want to see in any restaurant. I want freshly brewed sweet tea that costs a restaurant very little and makes a good profit off drinks.
