Service was friendly upon entry, during, and after! Our server did seem to forget about us though and the restaurant wasn't even busy. She was sweet. Just would hate to see it when it's busy cause she took a while to check up on us and refill our drinks. Food was alright! I would probably come back to try something else because the food we ordered was mediocre. Maybe if we tried a special dish that's known. It's a nice big open place. I like how they designed and decorated it. The booths offer a lot of room.

I love this place!!! I wish I would have stopped here, a long time ago. Now I know what I was missing.. The Chambord margaritas a bartender's ... Their Happy Hour is really good the drinks are great. The food options are diverse, there is something for everyone. I love the Nachos/Tostados, Tacos, and fries are really tasty. The salsas accompanying the food are paired well. I would definitely love to go have brunch there in the near future.

Happy hour at Z Tejas hasn't disappointed me yet. 3-6 happy hour half price margs, $5 quesadilla, $5 chips with queso guacamole and salsa. That's really why I come here. Service is always great. Me and a friend sat on the patio and the fans were just what we needed. If you have a large group (6 people) their patio has a nice "booth" for you all to gather. Nice atmosphere, beautiful restaurant, amazing food. Count me in again, and again.

If I can see the back of the Coke machine from the dining room, the designer has given up.

I don't know what happened to this place. There were four of us for dinner, three of us had been to this and other Z'Tejas' before. We don't know what happened. The food was mostly the same. It was fine. But, the decor. Ugh. They doubled the size of the bar and then, in our opinion, completely downgraded the dining room decor. The tables and chairs looked like IKEA. The furniture was light-colored, and bland. One person described it as a Chipotle with servers. I thought it looked like a Tex-Mex Denny's. That's not a dig, because I love Denny's, but it's not the Z'Tejas that I remember. After speaking with other people, the general consensus is that we didn't like the "vibe". And, if I can see the back of the Coke machine from the dining area, you're crossing the line into counter-order take-out. So, 2-stars for a Tex-Mex restaurant, 3-stars for a diner-style place, and 4-starts for bar. To sum up, I would not bring a date here.

We came here and enjoyed lunch on a Friday. Service was attentive and it's very tastefully decorated (love the huge front door!). The food was incredible. I really enjoyed every bit of it. The queso was perfectly creamy and the cornbread skillets were such a fun surprise to receive! The beef barbacoa enchiladas were a perfect portion and I left just a little left on the plate after filling up from the rest of the meal. Highly recommend and would love to return during future visits on Chandler!

I've been coming to this restaurant since 2013 when I moved to Phoenix. I go to this restaurant at least 3 times a month. The frozen Chambord margaritas are the best margaritas in the city. The catfish beignets and z salad yummy. They recently remodeled .,,it is so beautiful. We usually sit at the bar, but sometimes we sit at a table. I've even rented there private dining room for a party. The service is excellent. The staff are nice boy and it's , good place t to watch TV and catch some sporting games if your eating at the bar. Our Ztejas is the one in Chandler on the Ray Rd.

Z'Tejas has always been a favorite of ours however this las meal there was just terrible. Pretty sure this place has lost their mojo:( They did a remodel where they expanded their bar area. I understand why now because this place definitely is only somewhere I wanna go for drinks and maybe an app. We went for our big 25 year anniversary and I was super excited because this is where we always went for special days back in the day and we always loved it, but unfortunately this time not so much. I ordered the Gorgonzola with caramelized onion sauce steak with veggies and this one definitely miss the mark. Neither items were at all seasoned and were both totally bland. On top of that, the Gorgonzola on the steak seemed extremely old and they didn't even put caramelized onion sauce on the plate. Pretty sure they didn't even use a drop of salt or pepper to season the steak or vegetables. Plus the steak was a terrible cut with tons of fat and gristle. I could hardly eat any of it! It was like eating steak at a Denny's I didn't want to complain because we had a fantastic server, Marcileno, who was running around without any help. He told us they had understaffed that day, and he was doing his best to keep up with everything.. he was very attentive and though he suggested the steak, I don't believe that was his fault and it was definitely the chef. On top of that this place is supposed to be known for their wonderful very frozen margaritas and yet ours came out like wet slushy's. Sure they still tasted good, but just not what they used to be. My husband ordered the Diablo pasta. He said it was good, but he needed to spice it up with habaneros and add a lot of extra salt to season. Z'Tejas has has always been a staple for our family, but unfortunately, I think they're cutting some corners. Doubt we'll be back anytime soon after that horrendous meal.

5 star service! I walked in and was IMMEDIATELY greeted by the manager George. Per usual I sat at the bar and he immediately gave me menus and made me a frozen chambord (YES!). Lauren was my bartender and she was so sweet and nice. They got me my own little mini corn bread with butter (complimentary). For lunch I got the catfish beignet, SO good and fresh. What a great experience. Thank you George and Lauren. I've been a fan of Ztejas for a long time and after new ownership I was displeased. I am glad I came in and had lunch because seeing a lot of the OG menu items come back; like the jerk chicken salad and Diablo pasta, I WILL be back!

I finally made it here before leaving Phoenix. Came for a business meeting & although we had to meet/eat around the renovations, our overall visit was good. Kenneth moved around our table quickly to ensure he was providing us with good service. Our table was filled with appetizers mostly Catfish Beignets, Cornbread & cocktails. My Mimosa had an unexpected swimmer which the Manager apologizes for - again renovations were present - made me a new one at the table. For 6 people our bill came right under $100, no complaints there.

They've done some remodeling which looks nice. The food is average. I had the chicken sandwich which was flavorless, but had lots of toppings. Would be good with a spicy Mayo. The fries were average. Also, would've been nice to eat off of a real plate instead of the cafeteria type tray.

We haven't been inside a restaurant since the beginning of March. We also very very rarely do takeout. Saturday night we ordered a Z burger and the Chicken Diablo pasta for pickup. We could not believe how speedy they had it ready. 20 minutes. After we called from outside, they brought it out immediately. But the best part was when we got home, both of us thoroughly enjoyed every single bite of our meals. I had a little left over of my pasta and even warmed it up the next morning to enjoy it again. Terrible customer service! No wonder they all closed. I ordered appetizer and dinner. I watched everyone get served cornbread but I! There was a hard item Ramsay I bit into and it hurt my teeth & showed it to the bartender which that when onto saying the manager will take care of you & then the manager came over and said I'm sure it was a seed or something. I told him I gave it to the bartender & he just threw it away without showing the manager. I was going to get the meatloaf but there was 2 people that said it's not that good tonight! Bartender told me I got happy hour & then charged me normal prices! I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. read more

This was better than I expected. We got there for an early dinner so they still had happy hour going on. Happy hour is until 7 pm. We ordered the guacamole made fresh at the table side. This was very good but no spice even with the diced Jalapeños. Tammy was our server and she is timely, efficient, polite, attentive, and knowledgeable of the food and drink menu. She is able to make recommendations. I had the veggies instead of chips for the guacamole. You can make a meal of that alone. Fresh, cucumbers, celery and carrots. The manager came out shortly after the first bowl of veggies and said they didn't peel them and replaced them before we even had a chance to notice. They even pull the threads off the celery like I do. (I thought I was the only one) we had the special. A chicken pot pie with Cajun and green chili cream sauce. They precooked the chunks of potato before baking them in the pie. The Zucchini, carrots and other veggies were still crispy like I like. We ordered a side of cornbread that must have an extra cup of sugar in it with corn kernels. They do NOT offer a veteran's discount. read more

We eat at this location every time we get to the Phoenix area. We have never been disappointed with our food, our server, or our time spent here. My only complaint would be that there is no ZTejas in Fort Worth where I live. read more

Love the food here! It's one of mine and my husband's go to places for a quick, easy bite. Love the street tacos and 7th street margarita. Service has been great in my experience. We usually go early to avoid a wait. Atmosphere is enjoyable and their Sunday mimosa bar is fun! read more

First impressions are everything! Today was my first visit to this establishment and perhaps my last. I was disappointed to find that my appetitizer dish in addition to the other plates on the table were dirty. I proceeded to retrieve three other plates from another table only to find that they too were dirty. l spoke to the general manager who was very professional about the matter and ensured me that he was working with the staff to correct the issue. The waffles are nothing special but the shrimp tostadas are delicious. So if you can stand possibly finding leftover food on your dishes give this restaurant a try. By the way I only rated this restaurant a 3 because of the awesome server we had Tammy and the shrimp tostadas. read more

Only get date night every six months...don't come here!! Ordered, no wait, tried to order a margarita on the rocks. HARD sell by both bartenders to have the frozen, it's a heavier "pour" they shared. Told them I can't take a frozen drink, oh this will be different. Welcome to the land of margarita ICEE services . Sorry you are not a bartender. Boyfriend asked for a hurricane, met with the response "I can put something together for you" but I think you'll really like the frozen" says the ICEE server. Complete disappointment... read more

This was an AWFUL Experience. Ordered thru Door Dash. The fries that came with the burger were RAW. The Baja fish tacos had hardly any mango salsa or slaw. The $7 app was half full! Waste of money. Go somewhere we're they actually care about their food and quality. read more

Great atmosphere, food, and margaritas! Z'Tejas has one of the best happy hours! The bartending team is awesome, especially Matt, and one of the reasons we keep coming back to this location. This restaurant has recently gotten new owners. A few things have changed but the food is still delicious as ever. For example, they used to give out cornbread as part of the meal. Now it is $3, which is donated to charity. I think the reason they did it this way is because no one is going to throw a fit over money going to a charity. But I'm sure they will eventually just start charging for it without donating. Basically, they are cutting down costs but doing it in a "nice" way. Other than that, I always love the atmosphere, and there isn't an item on the menu that I don't like. The waiters and waitresses are usually very nice and attending. Even when the place is busy, the food comes out pretty quick. The prices are to be as expected for a nicer restaurant. If you're looking for a unique southwestern dining experience, Z-Tejas is the place! read more

Server was a nice young man and free cornbread to start was great! However, after that things went downhill with stale corn tortilla for fish tacos, very small and cold serving of rice on the side and my spouses meal was cold, with leathery chicken. The place has a good atmosphere and potential but we won't be back too soon. read more

was seated and didn't see a server for about 10 minutes. i spoke with the manager or shift supervisor and he like they took our order. after that our server finally came to us about 45 minutes after first being seated. didn't get food for almost an 40 minutes after ordering. i alerted the same manager about the excessive wait and the manager acted irritated and borderline rude. the food came out after another wait after speaking with management. the food was cold. manager told us to "just leave" so my wife, kids and i did just that. read more

I love love love this cute place! I go for the happy hour menu and $4 chambord margaritas on Tuesday...all day! They are divine and Phil the Bartender is so personable and remembers people's names! That's huge in my book and that alone will keep me coming back because in customer service being able to remember names is an art form. Thank you for a great place! We usually sit in the bar and really appreciate the excellent service by Matt and Phil and the team. We love the sirloin steak street tacos and the hatch chili queso. My personal favorite are the catfish beignets. Such a light batter on the fish. We always feel welcome and appreciated here. The bar staff service team backs each other up. I like that the proceeds from cornbread goes to charity since it makes you treasure it even more. read more

My husband and I went ti Z'Tejas for brunch (my husband's choice). I am not fond of Southwest food and was in the mood for crepes. Our server Kevin was excellent in helping me build a breakfast I would like! The french toast was only on the kid's menu but Kevin created a French Toast adult breakfast I loved! Kevin and the bartender made a bellini for me even though it was not on the menu. My was it tasty! Kevin was very attentive and clearly went out of his way to make my restaurant experience outstanding! read more

We had never been here before and heard the commercials so thought we'd try it. Hostess was a capital "B"!! We were sat after 15 minutes by the wait station even though the restaurant was only 1/4 full. They had brunch, not what we were interested in. The menu (I assume because of brunch) was very limited. We got the trio chips appetizer which we both liked. Nothing special but good. DH got a draft beer which was flat. I had ice tea it was fine. I ordered the seafood enchiladas, DH the Barbacolla enchiladas. Both were horrible. Tasteless. There was no spice, no heat, bland and gross. Maybe good for our winter visitors. Our waiter was fine. There was a tray of dirty dishes right behind DH the entire time we were there, besides the fact that it was right by the wait station where at least 5 wait staff placed orders there. Don't know what the hype is. Won't be returning, I have had better prepackaged frozen dinners. read more

Mine and my daughters first time here. The service was excellent! I ordered the smothered chicken burrito, but got beef instead, however it tasted pretty good so I told them about the error but decided to eat the burrito rather than wait to hane a new one cooked. The manager waived my dinner and brought us each free ice cream even after I told him he didn't have to. Everything is homemade, the customer service is phenomenal. I'll be back! read more

I was seated and waited more than 5 minutes while others around me who arrived after me were taken care of. I was about to leave when my waiter Tom came up and saved the restaurant from getting a one star. He sincerely apologized about my wait and made my meal enjoyable. I had the chicken enchiladas which were very good. Suggestion to management, train to host staff to realize a customer hasn't been taken care of in a short period of time. The hostess past me several times and it didn't register there was a problem. read more

Went here for brunch and waited 40 mins for my food. They did not offer water. They gave me beef when I ordered chicken. Did not even apologize or offer to comp anything. Food really sucked. No flavor. After taking our order we did not see waiter again until he wanted the bill paid. 0/10 do not recommend to anyone under any circumstances ever. read more

Dinner tonight was a win in all respects.... began with some perfect Margarita's and then on to dinner... the filet was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well, the Crispy Salmon was just what I needed, the Ancho Fudge Pie... a perfect ending to a great meal. We met the GM, Chris, a most personable guy who is doing a great job with this establishment and with whom we spoke at length regarding all the changes he's been making. He made us comfortable and looking forward to our next visit. read more

My first pint was a Hefeweizen. It had a slight waxy mouthfeel. My second pint was an oatmeal stout. At 7.3% ABV it was a tad strong, but it went down very smoothly. I snacked on some free popcorn but it was seasoned with a strong spice. Thankfully I could help myself to the water fountain. I enjoyed the ambiance and will be back.

When she finally returned, her attitude was defensive ("Do you want something else?") rather than apologetic. While she brought out replacement mozzarella sticks and queso, the queso was as thin and watery as soup. By then, after two wings and a slider, the experience was completely ruined. We waited another 20 minutes just to get someone's attention to request a manager. The manager, Loren, came over, listened to our concerns, and took care of the samplers on the bill, so we only paid for our drinks. We sat in the bar area with Phil and Missy and they took great care of us. I've been here before but never been blown away like we were tonight. Everyone was on point. We had the Pork Verde and the Tableside Guacamole to start with a Chorizo Stuffed Pork Tenderloin and a the Tequila Shrimp Pasta special. Companion and I wanted lunch, and this seemed ideal. Unfortunately, Google Maps is extremely confusing about how to find this and we circled the area over and over till we found it. For starters, they brought our chips and salsa. Not the usual watered down salsa, but with body and tons of flavor. We were off to a good start! Companion ordered a Carne Asada Chimichanga. It was huge and stuffed with meat. It was ordered with green sauce and the flavor was nothing short of amazing. 1/2 of it resides in my refrigerator. For myself, I ordered a pair of Cheese Enchiladas Sonoran Style, which means they had a pair of fried eggs on top along with red sauce. The last time I had this was in Lourdsberg, New Mexico in a little mom and pop place. This was exactly the same. It also came with Frijoles Refritos (refried beans), and fried potatoes. A wonderful lunch but I couldn't finish it. Companions plate also came with a portion of Guacamole. Since companion does not care for avocados, I felt it was my duty to devour it. Unlike most guac's, this one had lovely flavor and the avocado was chunky. It was so refreshing not to have a baby food Guacamole. This is a mom and pop restaurant. It isn't fancy, but it is real. It's clean, service is excellent, and the food it tops. Happy hour never disappoints!…read more Met up with a colleague who was in town for happy hour, and Hop Social was the perfect spot. I've been here plenty of times for happy hour, but it had been at least a year since my last visit. We were able to grab a spot at the bar immediately, which was a nice bonus. Great drinks, solid happy hour options, and our bartender was amazing--friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. Always a fun atmosphere and clearly still a great happy hour spot. The green chile salsa tastes like it comes out of a can. I also like that this location is in DT Chandler and has an ice cream place close by. I like that they have TVs at the bar if you want to watch sports. Most of the time the bar top is dirty and sticky. It always amazes me because 75% of the time myself and my party are usually the only ones sitting there. It's not like they're that busy where they can't wipe it down before the next customers come. I have been coming here for over five years and nothing has physically changed with the look of the restaurant. Maybe I need to take a hiatus and come back and reassess. Hopefully the food improves and gives me a reason to keep coming back.
