Stone Cold Closer. I came in the other day after having some drinks at Novo, Stone was very busy. When I came in I saw him quickly deal with a rush of customers checking out. Afterward there were some shady teenagers who came in with obvious bad intentions. He caught them in the act of shoplifting and made them leave. It was after this that he was finally able to greet me at the shoe rack. I went in for a pair of shoes and a board but I ended walking out with a skate tool, an outfit for my lady and that's all thanks to his great service/ salesmanship. The store manager at this location is a complete and utter joke. I work at a store in this same mall and would frequent this location regularly, and every time I was unfortunate enough to come across him he was condescending, dismissive, and only intent was to push a sale. Not to mention more often than not Decian reeked of weed and was very clearly under the influence and abusing substances before or while on the clock. On occasion I'd overhear employees talking about how he'd take their sales for himself and leave for hours at a time to nap in his car as well. I know the culture of this company is relaxed and laid back, but is this really the kind of leadership Zumiez wants to exemplify? read more

Shop was super clean, staff was pretty chill back and had positive energy, welcoming me when I stepped inside. Had a great selection between men's shirts and had premium jeans which was nice! The prices weren't too expensive and the shop had a lot of 50%off tag along deals. The associate Carl was super chill and funny, had a lot of product knowledge and gave some cool advice on what shirts to choose from! Loved the attitude and atmosphere he was bringing for customer service, wasn't too pressuring but was always willing to answer questions if I had one. Overall great experience, customer service was great, ended up getting a tank top and shirt for a good price. Walked out feeling pretty happy with the experience and new sketchy tank shirts! The employees at this particular Zumiez actually help me and are pretty knowledgeable about their product. The store is set up the way Zumiez normally is and their product selection is roughly the same. The music playing throughout the store depends on who's working but I tend to enjoy myself here more than any other Zumiez. The only thing I ever buy at a Zumiez though are their Obey products. I went to this location yesterday and there was one female there by the name of Danielle or Daniella and she had a bitchy attitude. Her coworkers were very nice, but she was not at all. My boyfriend bought a chain because he was told he couldn't take it out of the box beforehand in order to try it on. He was told he could purchase it, try it on, then return if he didn't like it. That's what he did, and that female didn't like it. She was standing there with her hand on her hip just tapping her foot and finger and kept shaking her head as if a customer had never returned something before. Then she went on to say, "Next time if you're going to buy it just to take pictures, I can't take it back". No pictures were taken in it all. Someone needs to teach her how to respect customers or there won't be any because of her. read more

The staff at this shop in Otay Mall is great. Always friendly and helpful. I like that they remember my son when he comes in and are helpful in what he's looking for. (No ignoring here). The manager is consistently positive every time. He is a great reminder of what customer service should look like, which I mention to my son every time we leave this shop. Thanks and keep it up! This is not the norm, so I commend you! Zumiez, you did a great job hiring this guy, he should get a raise and maybe be in charge of hiring staff at other sites or training them. Been taking my kids to this place since they've opened up few years ago. Today Sunday , my son wanted to buy an item that he liked, we arrive at 5:55 and as soon as the girl saw us crossing the street in the mall , she rushed to the door to lock it up , my son was very sad and we asked the lady that is locking the door while she was locking it , "it's still not 6:00 pm" . She turned her back kept on walking and didn't evens acknowledge us, or even say anything such as :" Sorry we closed" or something . ( just attitude and bad customer service ) All I can say is that this is a typical chula vista style macho attitude and IT'S Got to change to the better, as so the east lake area doesn't need the chula vista style attitude . read more

well lets first say. working retail sucks. most of the time its a job ur just working to pay bills and get to the next step in your life. that said this Zumiez has some A+ employees. Tillys is the only store where u actually get greeted as you leave and enter EVERY time. this Zumiez is the next closest thing. Employees actually seem to like their jobs which is rare, and it shows. its rare to talk to an employee at a retail store, even less rare to actually have a conversation with one. Josh at this store is a super nice dude who seems really into the brands the store sells. nice guy who will gladly talk to you about the brands they sell. read more
