the BEST random find in Savannah! We were headed to a different spot when the bright colors & igloo bubbles drew us to check our Zunzibar. Then the funky winter/summer vibe on the inside made us stay for a drink & we ended up grabbing food too. The sandwiches had great flavor & a delicious house sauce & of course the drink was yummy! In love with Zunzi's!!!!! Stopped by last night to try the slap chips and wings and they did not disappoint! The wings have amazing flavor, I love the honey mustard rub on the Dank wings. I also tried and loved the Mustafa and Peri Peri flavors as well! Drinks are always phenomenal and I am honestly blow away by the happy hour details. Happy hour is every night of the week from 5-7pm and they also have live music every night from 6-9pm! The Cape Town Tea is the perfect boozy arnold palmer and the frozen espresso martini is to die for (get whipped cream on top to make it like a sweet cream cold brew!). They have the igloos out and the vibes were perfect, the igloos are super cozy and warm on a chilly night, I felt like I lived where it snows. What a fun spot with excellent service, food, and drinks! Zunzi's is perfectly located and their large patio is well covered with umbrellas with powerful fans that do a great job keeping you cool in the SAV heat (and perfect for people watching). Everyone working here seems to really enjoy their job, and our server was very friendly and attentive. We had two rounds of the South African iced teas and the SLAAP chips with curried chicken. The chicken was tender and moist and the curry sauce was unbelievably good, creamy, sweet, with a hint of heat. I could eat that every day! Love you Zunzi's! read more

We were e-biking around Tybee and stopped here for a break and a drink. This place is AWESOME! Our bartender Chase and all of the other girls working were amazing and we had so much fun hanging out there. Unfortunately we had just eaten lunch somewhere else shortly before getting there so we didn't try any of the food. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing though. The sandwich was delicious. However, that being said, an automatic gratuity of 22% for a take-out meal is not only presumptuous, but exhorbitant. Enjoyed Zuni's very much while in Savannah. It is a first come first serve seating. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The outdoor seating this week was perfect with temps in the upper 70s. We had chips topped with grilled chicken and veggies. It was a very generous portion and was delicious. The owner is on site and checked on our experience. We had Zunzi about 4 times while in Savannah for a week! We both went for the salad - delicious dressing, fresh veggies, good chicken and sausage and bread. The peach rooibos tea was delicious and flavorful (although would be great if they could get cups that aren't styrofoam!). Takeout was easy and fast and the outdoor dining at the restaurant was spacious and not busy on a weekday (but busy over the weekend). The kids meal is a great deal in that it comes with a brownie or rice krispie drink, chips, and a drink as well as a good side main. The sandwich is tasty and cheesy. read more

Beautiful glass, marble, deep colors of navy, mauve, and gold. Service was wonderful, felt welcomed immediately. For my appetizer, I had the crab cake with homemade tartar sauce, which was a light, bright way to start the evening. For my entree, I had the filet mignon. The server will tell you, the menu says tapas, but the servings are larger than that. Meat portions are generous at 6 oz. My only complaint is that I ordered my steak medium and got closer to well done. At least the steak was still moist and not dried out, but I would be hesitant to do the steak again. The spinach risotto I had with it was creamy and cheesy, however, so that was nice. Other options for food include burrata, a charcuterie board, grilled shrimp, sea bass, salmon, scallops. The cocktails are the real star here. They fall under the categories "strong and adventurous," light fare," and "signature." Non-alcoholic cocktails are also available. I started with the medusa 1597, under "strong and adventurous." Made with Old Tom Gin, extra dry vermouth, truffle, grapefruit, and amaro, it was extremely strong. A bold, slow sipper I would have done better to have later in the evening, but I still appreciate the complexity of it. I also had the Bella primavera, a lighter cocktail under the signature section. Made with pisco, blanc vermouth, French herbal liqueur, watermelon, and basil leaf. A smoother, brighter, faster sip than the Medusa. And I also had the blood orange martini, made with French vodka, blood orange, lime, and cranberry. A little sweet, but not cloying, and again, would have been a better starter as opposed to a closer. I think when I return, I will ask the bartender to make me off the menu drinks. This place seems creative enough that the outcome would be fantastic. I loved this place. The vibe, the view, the service, the offerings. Can't wait to see what more they have in store.

I do think the chips were a little too heavy for the dip--a thinner chip would've been perfect--but that's a small note. The chicken pancake tacos were probably my favorite. The chicken was fried perfectly and still really moist. And at this point, I'm convinced Savannah just knows how to cook chicken. Everywhere we went, the chicken was consistently good. My partner got the grilled apple pie sandwich, which has fried chicken, grilled apples and bacon. He's not even a big pork person, but that bacon was so crispy and the whole combination just worked. Even the waffle fries were good--crispy, fresh and actually seasoned. We had the Grateful Dead and Wicked Kiwi cocktails, plus a couple of shots, and the drinks were strong, good and reasonably priced. Honestly, I don't have a ton of notes here. It's not trying to be some elevated dining experience. It's just a really good late-night spot with good food, strong drinks, friendly service and a fun atmosphere. We sat inside because Savannah in August was not about to have us sitting on anybody's patio. Definitely recommend, especially if you're looking for somewhere to eat late. My go to order is the Fisherman's Deck, the mouthwatering combination of salmon and their secret sauce on a freshly baked pita. And get into these Peri-Peri wings! I have no words, just go order them, you will not regret it! Another standout dish is the Boerewors sausage, which is a South African sausage made with beef and spices. It is grilled to perfection and served with a side of tangy coleslaw that complements the flavors of the sausage perfectly. The restaurant also offers a range of vegetarian and gluten-free options, so there is something for everyone. Portions are enough to share, but once you take a bite, you won't want to share it with anyone. As for the drinks, I love the Cape Town Tea, it reminds me of a rendition of a Long Island Iced Tea. Although we didn't sample any of the enticing drinks on offer, the food alone was enough to make our visit unforgettable. My wife indulged in the peel-and-eat shrimp, while I opted for the chicken wings. Both dishes were outstanding. I had the wings with dill sauce and curry sauce, and both were a hit. The drums and wings were a bit small, but perfectly sized, and there were plenty of them. They were generously sauced, which I personally loved, though if you prefer less saucy wings, they might not be for you. For me, they were fantastic! My wife couldn't stop raving about the peel-and-eat shrimp. The seasoning was spot-on, the shrimp were served piping hot, and the cocktail sauce had a delightful kick, thanks to just the right amount of horseradish. Overall, our experience was phenomenal. They did a good job with the space for sure. Now for the actual experience....we sat ourselves as indicated and servers saw us choosing a table but it was about 15-20 min before anyone even approached our table and the server asked if we had been helped yet and when we said no, asked if we were ready to order. But we hadn't even been given a menu so we requested menus and waters as it was a warm day. She brought back one menu for the three of us and some lukewarm waters. Which fine it's water and we were thirsty. We ordered a round of drinks and four appetizer plates altogether. Drink wise we ordered a Harbor Rose, A Rosenbrook and a Peach of Mind. The Harbor Rose and Rosenbrook were excellent. The Peach of Mind was just okay. Food wise we ordered the Charcuterie Plate, Crispy Fries, Crispy Mozzarella and Whipped Goat Cheese Tartine. DO NOT ORDER THE CHARCUTERIE PLATE. For $26 we received a very sad looking plate of minimal cheese and bread. The picture is included. No preserves were included as the menu indicated, the bread was not toasted as indicated, no cornichons were included as indicated, it was definitely not a $26 plate at all. We asked our server about it when she came by to check and she sighed like she'd been hearing the same complaint multiple times. She did bring us some more cheese and bread to attempt to fix it but even then it was just dry cheese and bread. The crispy fries came out cold and not fresh like they'd been sitting out for a while and then under the heat lamp even though the cheese sauce was warm so I think they premade the fries and left them sitting out way too long to maintain freshness. We sent them back to the kitchen to be remade and when they came back the fries were fresh but the portion was smaller and the egg was cold so no real win there. The cheese and egg yolk did all the lifting flavor wise the fries didn't even seem salted. The crispy mozzarella wasn't terrible but again it had been sitting under the lamp ready to come out for too long so the cheese wasn't super melty anymore and was thick. It wasn't all the way cold and didn't taste terrible lukewarm so we didn't send it back, but if it had been at the proper temp it probably would have been fantastic as the breading was fresh and crispy and the sauce with it good and who doesn't love a giant mozzarella stick. The goat cheese Tartine was the standout of the starters, my only note would be that one huge piece of sourdough bread was hard to cut and share. Luckily being a cold dish we didn't have temp issues. The intent was to have a few rounds of drinks and food but after the first we decided to just continue our night elsewhere. When we ordered we clearly specified we were on separate checks and what belonged on each check. But when we asked for checks at the end of the night it was all on one. Not wanting to spend another 20 min waiting for it to be fixed we just asked her to split it evenly three ways on our cards and she acted like that was the biggest inconvenience ever. In summary, it's a beautiful space with good drinks and good bartenders but sadly lacking in good service and food delivery. Now they are new so they might still be figuring things out but there are definitely a few things to solve before I'd dine there again. I thought perhaps the kitchen was too far but no, there's a kitchen for the rooftop inside the space right across from the bar, so that wasn't it. If I were to return anytime soon, it would only be to sit at the bar and order a drink.
