She doesn't want people grabbing and ruining her clothes. It's not like some chain store where she can send damaged goods back to corporate. I strolled in a few weeks ago, for the first time, looking for a dress to wear to a wedding. Joelle was all over me, in a good way. She seemed to have a blast pulling dresses that she thought would fit my body well. She was very complimentary when dresses fit nicely and she was straightforward (but never rude) when she thought I could do better. She loves the clothes in her store and sees them as wearable art. If I'm going to spend my money on something like a cocktail dress, I do appreciate a tailored and personalized experience. I felt that Joelle genuinely wanted me to walk out of her store happy and return again. Which I will.

We got the same confusing speech as everyone else, were told that we had nice legs - but "not in a gay way" even though "god loves the gays." We we're trapped and eventually I just walked out while she rambled on about how poor American healthcare is. Why has no one mentioned the smell? It smells like my great aunts house in there. We left BAFFLED by the experience. Absolutely no idea how this place is still open if no one is allowed to shop.

I've been to the Old Town location 2x now and most likely will not be returning anytime soon…read more Overall, it's pricey for most of the pre-owned items. You are not getting much of a bargain and may pay close to the same price brand new. This store is extremely selective accepting what you bring in. Despite bringing in clean, well-kept items (some have never been worn) very little was accepted, which made the experience feel like a waste of time. After reviewing most of their inventory on the racks, it was hard to understand why many of the items I brought in were not accepted. It may be the "manager's" bias as she inspected the items. She was polite in a very insincere way trying to explain to me what she would accept and not accept, which was all very random. Was that really her natural voice?!! Also, when I brought my items in they were pressed and neatly folded but were given back to me not folded, bundled together and wrinkled. I have a much better experience with TheRealReal.

The first time I thought maybe I was just being overly self-conscious but this last experience tonight solidified that I will never return to this store. As soon as a customer left the two girls working started making fun of how the guy pronounced the name of whatever the designer was that his partner bought clothes of. And they carried on making fun of other coworkers, customers, friends of theirs, ex boyfriends, etc. I just felt so disheartened and uncomfortable and I hope one day, they realize that it's not really that cool or funny to tear other people down. Especially because half their conversation was how "funny" they are and need to do stand up and how they hate when other people think they're so funny when they're really not which was...ironic. I really never write reviews but this was something I've never experienced or wish to experience again. It made me so anxious that when I left they'd just make fun of me too, which I'm sure they did. I think this store has really cool, unique clothes and I love thrifting but I can and will do that literally anywhere else to avoid the miserably insecure rhetoric that I heard tonight.

I've been a devoted consignment-store shopper from Dallas to Boston to SoCal. While I found several great shops in Alexandria that day, none checked all the boxes quite like Vida Style did. First off, it has something for every budget and size. There's a $10 rack AND couture items that can cost $400-$1k+. My regular shopping budget is closer to $100, and I've never left here empty handed. The first time I visited, I was on the hunt for a muumuu for a theme party by the same name and had no problem finding the perfect item below my price point. Today, I was on the hunt for "holiday cocktail" wear and found not only a festive, sparkly A-line skirt but also a beautiful DKNY cocktail dress just my size--and walked out having spent LESS than $115 total! The hardest part will be deciding which to wear to this weekend's party. What else sets Vida Style apart is that, unlike other neighborhood shops, there's PLENTY of inventory without sensory overload. Having worked in retail, I like seeing racks that are organized (size and color!) AND easy to peruse in a reasonable amount of time (I mean, if you have a street meter running, you don't want to be in there all day, right?). Other nearby shops might have lovely items, but they're SO crammed on the rack that I just give up porque no vale la pena. Then there's the Vida Style staff. As others have pointed out, they're AMAZING. They treat you like a human being and don't judge if you're just buying a $10 skirt for your cousin's wedding (guilty). They treat you like family and if they give you a compliment, it's genuine. Also, if you can't get there for whatever reason, they have a serious e-commerce presence. They're super active on Instagram, where they showcase new arrivals and rare finds, which is great for folks who love fashion but might not live close enough to just pop in. Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised to find a robust selection of blazers and suit jackets right in the center of the shop. Other stores have reduced their jacket inventory post-pandemic, but not here. Why was I not surprised that TWO attorneys were shopping here at lunchtime today? They really have it all. From shoes to purses to scarves, shirts, sunglasses, jackets, formal wear, and even menswear, Vida Style has it all. I really can't recommended it enough. Please shop local and check them out!
