Leaving better than we came in.

Food and drinks were amazing! Service was superb. Definitely recommend stopping by for drinks and sushi inspired dishes... Thank you Kendal..

Everything was excellent!! The ambiance was very romantic, perfect for a date or if you want to feel relaxed. We went for my boyfriend's birthday & the waitress paid very nice attention to detail. It was the best sushi I've ever had!!

amazing sushi spot!! such a great vibe inside with a lovely large bar and a cute semi-outdoor patio. I have been wow-ed every time I come. This time I came for Dine LA and I must say, it is a very good deal! For $25 you get 3 courses. I chose the akami tuna crudo, kinney roll, and matcha tiramisu. everything was DELICIOUS. Thick, fresh cuts of fish and the dessert was unique and lovely. We added on japanese pancakes since they recently started a breakfast menu and they were also very tasty. Service was fast and attentive. Overall a very solid spot!

I have come here a couple of times. They have a great happy hour to start. We came for dinner with a large group - the cocktails are always great. We also got some edamame to share, easy. I got the albacore carpaccio which was yummy and the fish quality was good. My friend got the chicken karaage as she doesn't eat fish and I do have to say this was delicious as well. Great experience.

I've driven by this spot a few times and everytime it looks super vibey. We made a reservation for a weeknight and got sat right away. The dark, neon lights, and live music definitely gives this place a good aesthetic. For cocktails, I loved the Venus on The Half Pipe. The habanero had a good kick to it. For sushi rolls, our favorite was the Soul Roll and Tuna Love. I was disappointed in the Wagyu Truffle. The presentation was great but the roll itself lacked flavor and had too much cucumber. The Chu Toro Crudo is a great starter to share. Overall, cute spot but a little pricey. I'd recommend checking out the happy hour menu which is served at the bar only.

Wow! When in Venice ... this could be our new favorite hangout, happy hour that is. Excellent prices on the fresh sushi, yellowtail, salmon, crispy rice with truffle, we had to order that twice... The service is outstanding 5+ My recommendation go early. We were fortunate to get there at 4:30 and then the place just went wild. We sat at the bar which is the best place in my opinion. You really get incredible service. We loved the ice cold, super cute, bottled water that came out to us. This place is happening with a capital H !!!! Keep it up "OWA" don't ever change

What a LOVELY EXPERIENCE. The way food and dining should be! I LOVE sushi and definitely have a standard for how it should taste, look, and feel. And Owa got it right. Not only is every inch of this place dripping in beauty and authenticity, but the whole ambiance is an experience. The service was great! And the kitchen staff were super cool. Definitely one of my most memorable experiences. Would def recommend.

My first time at OWA and I loved the vibe as I walked in. Happy Hour menu & cocktails were unique and delicious. I ate at the bar but as you walk in there is a cozy private patio and restaurant area. Forrest was awesome mixologist and recommended the best sushi dishes. Definitely coming back for live music Tuesday.

Owa's sushi dishes are extremely low quality with very low quality fish. This is directly inverse to their prices which are very high. High prices and high quality is OK. High prices and low quality is not OK. Owa does seem to draw a crowd. It may be a place to meet and greet, but no more.

Highly recommended coffee place in Abbot Kinney! For all the drip coffee I had, its sweet blend stood out the most!

3.5/5. Very busy restaurant in Venice on a Saturday night. Took the old space of Wabi. I thought the food was okay but not great. It's pretty expensive for what it is but if you're looking for vibes/scene and okay food then this is your place. The sushi/sashimi were just okay and surprisingly the best thing we had was the branzino.

    Azile Y.

The fish quality is great- I got the Sashimi Moriawase and everything was top notch (especially the buttery uni!)... It was all sprinkled in gold flakes which was a bit much (and a little off-putting, even though I know it's safe to eat). My husband enjoyed his Tokusen Omakase even though it all came out on one plate instead of traditional omakase style, but maybe this is because we sat at the counter. The spicy garlic edamame was DELICIOUS. The kinoko miso soup was lovely. My husband's Magic Mushroom Manhattan really did taste like shiitake and was delicious. My Golden Hour cocktail was nice. Staff took awhile to notice us but once they did they were attentive. We went on a Wednesday night at 7 and the scene was lively and loud. It's a very flashy/trendy place but the food truly is good.

A time was had. I highly recommend coming in for lunch or happy hour and sitting at the bar to wind down! They have a generous HH menu that you can enjoy every day including the weekend. I came on a Saturday afternoon and had no problems getting a seat. They have a matcha and flower shop set up at their window Thurs-Sun from 8AM till around 2PM. I shopped from both and then sat down at the bar to order from the lunch menu. Based on recommendations from the bartender, I ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice, akami nigiri and kinney maki. Everything I ordered tasted so good and fresh! It was a great deal and the vibes were vibing.

The Santa Monica one is more grab and go as it's their smaller flagship location. This business has been carried by the owner Keiko who has brought a slice of Japan outside of the designated communities of West LA's Sawtelle and DTLA's Japan Town! Here (at either location) you will find unique delicious flavors of omusubi but also called onigiri rice balls! That you won't find anywhere else! Rice balls are actually shaped into triangles and stuffed or mixed with simple ingredients like a salted plum called ume (it tastes salty, and tangy with a touch of sweetness) To more engaging offerings like the lucky cat with japanese pickles with fresh wasabi, ginger, and bonito(dried fish that is sliced paper thin) These finger foods can be enjoyed as a snack or grab a few to make a meal. The Culver City Location has a decor that immerses you in Japan. They have a small market section with alcohol such as saki, handmade dishware from Japan, cute claw machines for kids, and expanded meal offerings! Besides Keiko being absolutely amazing, the food is as well! From curry stuffed to fresh shisho leaves and pickled wasabi!!! There's lots to choose from and the best part.,,.they have always had an expansive vegan menu! Yes they are very Vegan Friendly! I love the Eggplant Chili Miso and Wasabi Tsukudani. I highly suggest checking out the Culver City location so you can sit down and enjoy a drink and the ambiance and expanded offerings. After going to this place for nearly 16 years there are rare days where things like the rice may be off due to a mistake, but I've only experienced that a total of 2 times in 16 years so it's pretty rare!

I had it once before, when I was Tokyo, but don't remember it. I won't soon forget this place. I tried 3 omusubi: the Sunny Blue Curry ("tender chicken and scallions simmered in wafu curry), the Miso Beef ("tender beef and caramelized onions cooked with homemade miso sauce"), and the Tokyo Tori ("chicken with sweet and sour sauce"). hard to pick a favorite; they were all really tasty. Though I kind of think the sushi-like nature of omusubi might work even better with fish, which they also offer; specifically the Kara Tuna ("albacore tuna with diced cucumbers and onions with spicy mayo sauce") and Spicy Salmon ("cured salmon with chili seasoning"). Maybe next time. As for the place itself, it was clean and neat, and while there was only one table inside, they had a nice outside area on the side. They also have a staff who were friendly and helpful. As for parking, I easily found a spot on a side street on a Wednesday around noon. There's also some metered parking on Washington. Just watch the signs. If I had a complaint -- and I don't, really -- it would be that I wish they had some coffee drinks. But that kind of wouldn't fit the vibe (and, to be honest, there were tons of coffee places on Washington on my way home). Instead, their beverages were fittingly rather Japanese. Like Ramune.

As any hand roll lover knows, you have to eat them quickly before the nori loses its crispness, and this one is always worth diving into immediately. The quality of the ingredients is consistently phenomenal. This visit, I also branched out and tried some of the sashimi options along with the squid hand roll (I can't remember the exact name--my apologies!). It was surprisingly unique, with a fresh herbaceous flavor and a bit of spice that set it apart from the other rolls. The squid was also much more tender than I expected--not thick or chewy at all. One final bonus: this is the only place I've found that serves both Sapporo Premium and Sapporo Light, which is always a nice touch.

The place is clearly popular since there was still a line when we arrived around 9:30 PM. My husband opted for the 6 hand roll set for $29, while I went with the 4 hand roll set for $20 and added an ankimo hand roll. Overall, the hand roll sets felt like a great value, especially since they allow substitutions for certain rolls of equivalent value. I always appreciate a little room for customization. The hand rolls themselves were enjoyable across the board. The fish-to-rice ratio was pretty decent, the rice was served warm, the seaweed stayed crisp, and the fish tasted fresh. The rolls also came out at a good pace, so there was never too much time between each course. I would have loved a little more fish in the hand rolls or the option to add fresh wasabi. Either of those would have easily made this a 5-star experience for me. Overall, it's a great spot for reasonably priced hand rolls, and I can see why it's so popular. Also thought ambiance was nice and intimate.

We were in the area for my son's doctor's appointment and discovered this place nearby. What a bonus! If you're anywhere close, it's absolutely worth a visit. The sushi here is next-level. You can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients--the freshness of the rice, the fish, and the attention to detail in every bite. I started with salmon and tuna nigiri, plus a salmon roll that was cut into small bite-sized pieces. Honestly, I was popping them into my mouth like candy. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. They also have a great selection of hot foods. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by freshly prepared unagi (eel), which looked amazing. They also offer katsu, and other ready-to-eat items. I grabbed a Spam musubi, and wow--it may be the best Spam musubi I've ever had, even better than some I've had in Hawaii. The Spam still had a slight crispiness, the egg added richness, and the seasoning brought everything together with an incredible umami flavor. What I love most is that the place reminds me of a Japanese convenience store (konbini)--but an upscale version. It's like Tsukigi market had a store in Ginza. You can buy fresh seafood, ingredients to make your own sushi at home, or simply grab a meal and enjoy it there. The quality throughout the store is outstanding. The atmosphere is great too. There's always a buzz of people shopping for sushi or enjoying their food outside in the seating area. It feels lively and authentic. One suggestion: try to get there early if you can. They had so many ready-made sushi trays, rolls, nigiri, and prepared foods available, but a lot of them were already nearly sold out by the time I got there. I noticed a sign saying items are made fresh regularly throughout the day, which is a great sign of how popular and fresh everything is. Still, if you want first pick of all the goodies, I'd recommend arriving earlier. My only real complaint is the parking. The lot is small, and during busy times you'll probably need some patience. I visited on a weekday during rush hour, but once I got my food, it was completely worth it. The drive back to Simi Valley flew by because I couldn't stop eating and thinking about how good everything was. I honestly can't wait to find another excuse to come back. This place is such a treat. Eventually, a lovely girl finally came to my aid as I awkwardly stood there to find this manager, and she made the worthwhile effort to do that. The initial idiot made a quip, "Oh there he is", and I shook my head. It should also be said that the manger isn't exactly a brain surgeon either. My latest experience is in more detail below, but if you're looking for a quick recommendation, I would skip RVR for other options in the area (unless you're exclusively optimizing for Abbot Kinney ambiance). We made a Sunday 6:45p reservation. Knowing the incredibly hit or miss seating situation there from a previous visit, we arrived 15 minutes early to kindly ask if we can sit in a table upstairs. One of the hosts told us that there was "only bar seats available now, but [they'd] have a table for us closer to our reservation time." We thanked her and happily waited for our reservation time. Our original reservation time comes, and they call our name to seat us. A bit surprisingly, they lead us to seats at the bar. We politely asked the host who sat us (a different host from the one we spoke to initially) if we could wait for a table, but she curtly told us waiting for a table would be "at least an hour." It was very odd considering what we were told 15 minutes prior, and it felt a bit clumsy and dismissive to hear different things from front-of-house staff and to be put where we politely requested not to be. Regardless, we sat at the bar without a fuss. Sitting at the bar was a mixed bag. The bartenders were kind and attentive, but we were sat directly next to each other in a very heavy service area (the antithesis of the romantic, conversational Sunday night dinner we'd hoped for). Meanwhile, we watched many empty, smaller tables either linger open the whole time we were there or ultimately get sat with parties of two. We put in an order, and all of the food came out fairly quickly. Here's what we ordered, grouped by my recommendation: - Excellent: "off menu" wagyu gyoza - Good: snap peas, chicken liver toast - Skip: tuna sashimi, corn, black cod, duck rice We were in and out in 45 minutes, which I was thankful for considering that I didn't want to be there any longer than we needed to be.
