    Sorry. Hamachi half eaten

The parking situation sucks here. I would recommend uber. But also if you go in spot hero, you can maybe get a reservation for parking in the lot. The service was great. It was a bit loud on a friday night, but overall it was good. The himachi was fresh, the steaks were cooked perfectly. They made a fabulous espresso martini, I had a sip and it was ideal.

My fiancé and I went here on Valentine's Day. It was the best dinner we've had in Venice, and it's not even close. Started out with cocktails which were good, what you'd expect. The bread was like seared sourdough slices served with two different amazing butters -- barrate butter and some green one that was delicious. Seriously some of the best bread I've ever had. 10/10. Then we shared a plate of scallops. They cut like butter, we're so flavorful, and the cauliflower sauce & chippings were a great texture addition. 10/10 on these. We both got the bone-out ribeye cooked medium. It came out cooked probably medium rare+ which is what we like anyway. It was truly seared to perfection, cooked consistently throughout. This steak was special. 10/10. The surprising highlight of the meal was probably the fries. I got fries just because I'm a big fry guy. These fries were the best I've ever had. With every bite, they'd simply melt in your mouth. And they weren't wet or greasy at all either, which would normally be the case with melt in your mouth fries. These were cooked to perfection, fresh, and idk how they do it. They were served with beef tallow. She also got the whipped potatoes that were whipped to perfection. I can't use "perfect" enough in this revenue because that's how everything was. She wanted the scalloped potatoes because apparently they're to die for here, but they had sold out. The table next to us verified that the scalloped potatoes are the best they've ever had. We paid $387 which included two cocktails, two glasses of wine, bread, scallops, two ribeyes, fries, and whipped potatoes. The service was nice, very busy and no complaints. The ambiance was very homey but private at the same time. If you're considering a nice dinner locally, you need to go here, I can't recommend it enough.

10oz Baseball Steak with Green Peppercorn sauce

Fantastic food in a cute, rustic farmhouse vibe setting. It's definitely more of a splurge meal, but totally worth it for a special occasion. We decided to share a few things which was totally enough food between my fiance and I. We got the peaches and burrata as a starter which was an off menu special and delicious. Then we shared the 10oz Baseball Steak with the Green Peppercorn sauce, the carrots, and the whipped potatoes for our main meal and it all blended so well together. We just got back from Paris so steak and pepper sauce is the only thing on my mind and this helped satisfy my craving. It was our anniversary dinner so they surprised us with a Butterscotch pot de creme dessert which is amazing as a whole but the homemade vanilla cream on top is to die to for. Our waiter was great at explaining every dish and really hyping everything up for the quality of the ingredients and how it was made. I would say be prepared for a bit of a longer dinner here, they definitely take their time making the food so it was a bit of a wait to get everything out. Still loved it and would come back!

Stopped in tonight for my first time because I live very close by and heard that this little steakhouse is run by one of the two founders of Petit Trois, which is one of my favorite restaurants in LA. I can confirm this is a really solid and classy steakhouse and a great recommendation for dinner. Parking can be a bit tricky, there isn't a dedicated lot, but you can find street parking on the side streets. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. Inside is also designed really well. It has a classy, mid-century modern look to it, and I think it really added to the experience. They have outdoor covered seating, which wasn't being used on a cold December night, but the tables near the full-size bar, as well as the dining room with a cozy roaring fireplace were very full and lovely. I started off my meal with the Baby Beats Salad and loved it. The horseradish goat cheese was especially amazing, my only complaint was that it was a very small portion. For my entrée, I chose the 8 ounce Filet Mignon with a Green Peppercorn Sauce and absolutely loved it. The combination was almost sweet, and something I would highly recommend. We also ordered the Butterscotch Pot de Creme for dessert and that too was a wonderful treat. It was not overly sweet, but had a pleasant, strong vanilla flavor. I would highly recommend this place for a date, or dinner with friends or family. I plan to be back in the future to try more items.

5 stars all around! The service was impeccable. The GM, Hoang Nguyen was so hospitable and friendly. He gave us the best seat in house and accommodated us from the moment we arrived to moment we left and checked in on us throughout the night. He even personally reached out to let me know I accidentally left my debit card. He and his staff are highly knowledgeable regarding wine and cuisine- especially steak of course. We tried several different cuts of steak, appetizers, and wines and was impressed with every bite. The chef cooked the steak perfectly medium rare. The sauces were fun to try with different dishes. Everyone at our table are foodies and we were all very impressed with the experience and will definitely be back!

I shared an excellent meal at the bar. My favorite app was the cheese board. They have some kind of housemade mustardo that goes so well with the different cheeses and grilled sourdough. My favorite side was the baby carrots with yogurt sauce. Don't miss it. I love the ambiance inside; it's a different world. So calm, warm and inviting inside. The mood is casual but the service and food quality is almost formal.

Melt in your mouth food - the winner was king salmon with red wine sauce ... crispy on outside , moist on inside. Also loved the hamachi - had to take a moment of silence bc it was so perfect. This spot is going to be so popular - stoked to experience it before it's too crazy! Def go check out

Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious! The restaurant has such a charming, cozy atmosphere, and the service was incredibly welcoming. We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's birthday here and will definitely be returning.

We had dinner here last Sunday night with another couple and thought the food was okay. First off, our server was not that friendly and had a less than stellar personality. The menu is small but we did find things that we liked. One of our friends wanted an Arnold Palmer or an iced tea and our server said, "We're out of iced tea." We wondered if he could have had someone steep hot tea, then add ice, but he didn't suggest that. Otherwise, we enjoyed glasses of Sancerre. We all had the Caesar Salad with romaine hearts, Venice Steakhouse dressing, tons of Reggianao Parmesan, white anchovies, and brioche croutons. The salad was very good. We also had the 12oz West Aged Rib Cap steak that was served with a very dull steak knife making it hard to cut. We had the 10 oz. Prime Sirloin Baseball Steak which was better than the Rib Cap, but still difficult to cut. with another dull knife. The Mary's Chicken with arugula and Dijon mustard jus was good. For sides, we got the Scalloped Potato-Yukon golds with garlic, thyme, and Gruyere cheese. The potatoes were a little thyme heavy. We didn't have dessert but the Butterscotch Pot de Creme would definitely be something I'd order another time.

The menu is New American with Chinese influences served as a four-course prix fixe set, with each course having three choices, and optional additions are available. (There is an à la carte menu available in the bar area.) I went very carnivorous on my selections, choosing the beef tongue carpaccio, duck sausage, and beef short rib. There was not a bad dish among these: The tongue was tender, soft, and delicate. The duck sausage was fantastically good as well; served with an apple jam atop Swiss chard, it was a sort of Chinese-Alpine fusion cuisine of which I never envisioned but instantly wanted more. While delicious, the short rib was overshadowed by its cabbage accompaniment. My server told me it takes four days to make that dish, and I would have happily ordered a full dish of just that. The kaffir lime curd dessert was light and balanced, perfect after the heavier meat courses and like a small vacation to Thailand on a plate. The one dish I did not love was the Chongqing fried chicken course I added. The chicken itself ― a boneless leg quarter ― was a large portion and well-prepared, but the sauce covering it was a thick layer of chilis (which, thankfully, were not inedibly hot) and straight oil, lots of oil. Eating so much oil like that made for gastrointestinal discomfort the rest of the night. The soy pickles helped cut the greasiness a bit, but they weren't vinegary enough to get that level of oiliness off the palate. The duck fat rice, though quite good, also did not help much given its fattiness. Given the chance, I definitely would have requested the oil-sauce on the side. I did appreciate the crunchiness of the batter, which never went soggy despite being soaked in that oily puddle for a long time. I did not find any wines by the glass that bowled me over, so I stuck to cocktails, which were good. Service was warm, personable but not intrusive, and brisk, while the room has the comfortable feel of a mid-century modern den complete with well-worn cookbooks on the shelves lining the walls. I would happily return to try the bar menu with cocktails or when the prix fixe options change. At $68 for four courses, Firstborn's prix fixe is one of the best fine dining offers in L.A. right now, and it makes a trek up to Chinatown worthwhile.

When I couldn't decide on a cocktail, Jeff--the bartender, mixologist, and apparently part magician--asked what I normally drink and then crafted something just for me. It was absolutely perfect.
