Great service for just a divey spot. The onion rings were mostly batter, but still were crispy. I wish the fries were a little more on the crispy side. The chicken sandwich on the menu said "spicy" but it wasn't at all. Extra sauces cost 50 cents each. It's a great place for a quick bite to eat and some better than fast food, food. I was craving a really good, backyard BBQ burger and got exactly that! The service was very friendly and greeted me with a smile, also made sure my drink was filled at all times. Today, my youngest came to visit (he is 21, saying my youngest makes me feel less old) and I wanted lunch and thought let's try again! Great idea! 1/4 Lb Big Burger is a small humble diner located in an industrial part of Martinez, across the street from the Martinez Refining Company. In my 25+ years in law enforcement, I've driven by this place countless times on my way to or from the county courthouse/jail. Unfortunately, I've never had the opportunity to try, even though I was curious about it. Well, that opportunity finally came on 02/21/2020. After a medical appointment nearby, my buddy Steve and I were searching for a place to grab some quick lunch. As we were on Morello Ave (which runs into the aforementioned refinery), he was talking about burgers and fries and all of a sudden this place hit me. Haha, everything was aligned for me to finally eat here! We walked in at 11:30 am and were greeted by the owner, who told us to sit anywhere we wanted. The place was about half full and all of the patrons appeared to be locals. Cleanliness was acceptable. Seating was made up of about half a dozen wooden tables and benches. Entertainment was provided by a small TV mounted on one of the walls. Their menu featured a good selection of typical diner fare such as burgers, sandwiches, breakfast and dinner dishes etc. We figured out what we wanted quickly. Steve got the Cheeseburger Daily Special ($8.75) while I opted for the Bacon Cheeseburger Daily Special ($9.50). Both came with fries and a soda. The fries and burgers were served separately. I was really impressed by the fries. They were freshly fried and served hot and crisp. The light color indicated fresh oil was used to fry them. The bacon cheeseburger wasn't gourmet but nonetheless delicious. The patty was juicy, the bacon strips were thick, and the produces were fresh. It was the quintessential diner burger. The simplicity was just beautiful. The owner and his staff were friendly. They checked on us a couple of times and refilled our drinks. The total, with T/T, was just $23. It was a quick, satisfying meal and we were happy about our experience. This is not a destination by any means. But if you happen to be in that area and looking for a quick and inexpensive meal, this is not a bad option. Just a word of advice, the area they are in is not the best during nighttime so do exercise caution if you choose to visit. One star has been deducted because I simply just don't like the food I got this time. I usually order the mushroom and cheese omelette & it comes with hashbrowns. This time I went out on a limb thinking a photo of the jalapeño cheddar bites looked good. Boy was I wrong. As I sat and waited I got the bites and realized the previous review where he told us they were like frozen jalapeño cheddar bites was completely correct. Have you ever tried Jack in the box's jalapeño cheddar bites? They taste almost identical and have globs of cream cheese just pouring out. My cheese fries weren't any better. going into buying them I knew they weren't runny cheese fries. My problem comes in where they're just not good I've had many many many different types of fries and these are just terrible. Has nothing to do with the way they're cooked the chef is Great. The food they buy at least the jalapeño cheddar bites and the fries are either really cheap or just crap in my opinion. Try it for yourself! Moral of the story got $6 dollars back from a $20 and I'm still going somewhere else to get some food. This place is the bomb!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small restaurant with tables for around 10-15 and classic diner style bar stools for 3-4 individuals.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was greeted immediately and my order was made as I watched. I been having my eye on this place for a while. And after searching for a down home burger joint for a meal one day. I stumbled across this establishment. I happened to be at work this day but decided to come on one of days off, let me just say that I'm glad that I did. After looking at their menu a bunch of times, I made up my mind as to what I wanted to order. So I set out from Pittsburg to Martinez and here is what I got.... Philly Cheesesteak $7.80 - I decided to go against the grain a bit and get a cheesesteak. After the pics I saw from my fellow "Yelpers" and my having an gnarly appitite this day, I couldn't resist. I decided to add bacon $2.10 and mushrooms $1.60 to my cheesesteak to make it a bit more like how I usually eat them. Let me just say, they knocked it out the park. Of course it isn't like one you would get from "such establishments" or the hometown where they're known, but this one was delicious. It was hot and everything paired up so nicely, it really hit the spot. The size was heafty and they weren't stingy on the the meat and other condiments. I would totally recommend this if you're a cheesesteak fan. Fries $3.95 - These were your run of the mill standard fair french fries that you would kinda expect to have at this place or other similar establishments. They were served up hot and crispy, I honestly almost ate most of them before I got home with my food. I liked the fact they gave me salt packets on the side, I usually don't like my fries salted so this was perfect for me as I didn't even use them, but I did douse them with Ketchup and dug in. Overall: I would say that I really liked the food here at "1/4 lb Big Burger" I totally see myself paying them a visit again real soon. The staff here is very friendly and personable, that is a highlight for me, and of couse the food really lived up to expectations. I can't wait to try more of what they have to offer, and or order one of the Frankenstine creations fellow "Yelper Shelli H" and her clan be coming up with. This place checks off everything I look for in a diner like experience. This is the best hole in wall I've been to in the East Bay. The male server there is always kind and efficient but let me brag about the best part of this place---the FOOD!!! So I'm definitely an aesthetics girly in this place did not meet my requirements. So a few months ago, I would have left 5 stars, but the past few times have been disappointing. Not because of the food. The food is AMAZING. However, they have raised prices so much that we won't be going once every other week. We are cutting back to once every other month, if at all. The other issue I have is that they are now serving orange juice in paper cups. Really??? First, that will affect the landfills. Second, it makes the restaurant so cheap! If I'm paying for an orange juice to drink at the table with my meal, I would like it in a regular cup/glass. I can see if it were a to-go item, but not at the table. The third issue is the tableware. If they are going to raise prices so much, can I please have a plate that is not all chipped up? My plate this morning had two big chips in it. My son had a plastic plate. The flatware has gotten cheap as well. I'm so disappointed! read more

Unfortunately there's only one 1/4 pounder big burger left and that's in Martinez, Ca. on Pacheco Boulevard! They have great food here my favorites are their breakfast and all-time favorite are there cheeseburgers with shredded lettuce it is just the best! So in 1973 1/4 Pound Big Burger came to Concord California on Clayton Road it was just about two blocks away from my house that I grew up in just loved going there went there for years and years! This place is clutch for Noc shift hospital workers. The staff is also very friendly and service is quick and easy. They don't do door dash but if it's close by, it's worth the drive out for pick up. The parking lot is small but cars are usually in and out for pick up. read more

However, breakfast on a Saturday morning was full of kindly locals, mostly elderly, which made for friendly diner vibes. Certain items are priced really nicely while others are just average. You can get an enormous pancake stack for around $5 to fill you up on a budget, but a ham and egg scramble with potatoes ran us $8 which I find to be more normal than cheap. My corned beef hash and eggs was $9. The kids options are a great value: two "small" pancakes, two sausage links and an egg for $4. The pancakes were not small, they're more like, "not enormous". The cook even made them Mickey shaped spontaneously. Service was totally friendly, and prompt. We're looking forward to trying their bacon cheeseburgers and chili cheese fries. read more

This is a hidden gem. Don't blink or you'll pass it becauae the sign is barely visible from the street. Service gets two thumbs up! People here are very friendly. I had the bacon cheeseburger with chili n cheese fries and it was good. The thing I liked was that the ketchup in the bottle was cold. The inside is small, but they have a few booths, tables, and counter seating available. I sat at the counter and was promptly given a menu. This location also has a small TV which was airing a football game that day. This place has loads of burger options to choose from! Mushrooms, bacon, chili cheese, and even veggie are just a few of the options. I typically like my burgers with the most standard ingredients, which is what I opted for. I decided to make it a "special" for $7.95 and added a medium soft drink and a side of French fries. Yes, you heard me right... $7.95! I looove me some cheaply good deals, mmkay? The burger was surprisingly very tasty! The patty was heavily seasoned and I just loved all of those yummy pickles! A lot of burger places don't put pickles on their burger and sometimes it comes on the side, but I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that they piled them on! Never been here before but my BF wanted some Philly cheesesteak and decided to try them out. It's like a dinner that has everything from burgers to fish and chips to eggs Benedict's. Super excited! It's right off Pacheco Blvd. They took our order quickly and you can watch them make your food! It says 24 hours open! This place is a gem and I know we will be coming back here.
