Horrible; absolutely horrible. No other word for this disreputable company. We sold our home in Citrus Heights and contracted 1800 Got Junk to pick up some stuff, including a fridge. The guys showed up with no tools to unhook the fridge (plumbed in ice maker) and we had to borrow tools for them. Due to their ineptness in removing the pipe, the kitchen & garage were flooded causing nearly $4000 of damage. Despite a lawyer's letter, emails and phonecalls, 1800 Got Junk constantly avoided engaging with us, and, when they did, I got empty promises of "we want to make this right". We've never used a junk pickup service before, but we called 1800-Got-Junk because many donation centers are closed due to covid and we also don't have the means to handle large furniture. Our drivers called us in the morning to let us know they were running a little behind schedule and also gave us an ETA. They called again about a half hour before their ETA to confirm the time and let us know they were on their way. When they arrived, they were extremely professional, responsive, and honest. They wore masks the entire time and even LOWERED the price of their original estimate because our stuff took up significantly less space than they anticipated. Our two-year-old insisted on watching them load the truck from the porch, and they were super nice about us watching them the entire time they loaded. They treated our stuff with care and assured us they'd bring it to the warehouse for donation rather than a landfill. What a relief it is for a business to deal with customers in a professional and honest manner. Also, their phone customer service line is fantastic. Both reps I spoke to were courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Honestly these guys were more professional than the big-name insurance company we recently dealt with, and I'm sure they work harder and get paid a lot less. Doesn't get much better than this, folks. Hopefully we won't need a junk pickup for a very long time, but if we do, we won't hesitate to use 1800-GOT-JUNK again. read more

There are two pieces to this. Two days ago and a day ago, the service was unreliable. Three months ago, it was great. My advice is that first thing in the morning is the only reliable time for 1800GOTJUNK. If you schedule for any time in the afternoon or evening, the odds are against you. I scheduled for a pickup on Thursday afternoon, I was called and told we would be the last of the time slot. Thirty minutes before that time, I was told there was no room in the truck. We were rescheduled for a slightly later time the next day. And, guess what, the same thing happened. I cancelled and immediately setup Mike's Hauling. read more

1-800-GOT-TOO-BIG? "Just call us 90 minutes before you need us"? Don't you believe it! Set an appointment 4 days earlier to meet at a commercial building in Auburn, CA. Needed some restaurant seating removed prior to closing escrow on the property. Drove for 3 hours and stayed overnight in a motel the day before the appointment. Want to be sure I'm there for the 800-G-J crew. The appointment was to meet their crew between 12 Noon and 2 PM. At 11:30AM got a call saying they'd be there between 1:30 and 2:00 PM. 2:00 PM rolls by, no truck, no call. At 2:30 I get a call from the crew saying they're delayed and won't be there until 3:30 or after. I said don't bother, I need to leave, I'll hire someone else. Their crew member hung up on me! No attempt to reschedule or work things out. Drove 4 hours through the rain and commute traffic to get home. Restaurant seating still not disposed of. Now I have to make another trip and waste another day on this! Guess I'd like to point something at someone so it would disappear. 1-800-GOT-JUNK is advertising heavily in my area for new Franchisees. I think they're hiring anyone they can find, and the quality of their service is rapidly deteriorating? I won't ever call them again. read more

I had an old gate, a few pieces of brick, and three small piles of loose dirt mixed with fine gravel covered in tarps. I was told over the phone, that the price was $125.00 and possibly more because of the dirt. It was raining and maybe the two guys didn't want to deal with it, so in my opinion, they highballed me. The price went from $125.00 to $595.00. He said that it would fill up the truck. The piles were small and no way it would fill up the truck. I will not be recommending them. read more

On Thursday I called to make a Saturday appointment, and I selected a 3-5pm appointment window. At 2:30pm Saturday, I received a confirmation call, and was told that they would arrive around 3:30pm. They were on time. Edgar, Miles, and Brent were very friendly, and showed me the chart on how much it would cost to move my items...no problem. Then they removed the items, AND they swept around both the inside of my garage and my driveway! What impressed me the most was that they appeared to have no expectation of a tip--I reached into my wallet, and embarrassingly saw that I had only enough for bridge toll to get back to SF; happily, I saw that I could leave a tip as I paid via Square card reader. Wish I could give them a "0"! Pretty pathetic.... They gave me a 2 hour window from 1:30 to 3:30 on a Friday afternoon, so I took a 1/2 day off work so I could be there. I get a call around 2:30pm from them that they're running late and won't be able to make it at all that day. He went on to say that he'll call me later that day or early Saturday to re-schedule and tried to make things better with a whopping 10%!discount. Needless to say, it's a week later as I write this and still have heard nothing from them. Even with a paltry 10% discount (approx $11) it doesn't come close to making up for the 1/2 day I took off of work, the inconvenience of filling up my garage with the items they're suppose to take, and of course the trouble of having to take another 1/2 day off in the future.... They show up with the truck half full and only can take half. They wanted us to make another appointment and want us to pay more. Don't bother with this company. Made an appointment for 5:30 on Saturday because that's when I was available. They tried to come in the morning, told them I wouldn't be available until 5:30, which is why I scheduled that time. Called them at 5:00 to confirm they are still coming, was told they would be there about 6 or 7, I said that was fine and my husband and I moved everything to the driveway to make it easier for them. 6:00 rolls around and I get a text saying they aren't coming because the truck is full and the dump closes so I have to reschedule. After I already called to confirm and moved everything. They then said they guess they could see if another truck is empty but wouldn't be there until 8. That would still be after the dump closes so why couldn't they empty the full truck then come back around? Told them if they couldn't come out today we will just go with another company. They took only what they could fit and left me with an incomplete task. Then they told me they would contact me to make arrangements to load the rest of the junk. They never contacted me. Had quite a bad experience with this company. They pride themselves on recycling and repurposing items they pick up. After the two young men tore everything apart there's no way anything could have been repurposed. They hit my wall and broke off stucco and told me no problem, we're insured. He took a picture and I never heard another thing. Fixed it myself... they dropped items on my wood floors because they were trying to carry so much at once. On top of that they had to do two loads. First load cost $600+ and second load $200... I will never use them again and would caution anyone from doing so... read more

Informed the crew wouldn't be there until 10. Was called again at 9:45, crew would show up at 10:15-10:25. David and Philip showed up at 10:12. I looked at the truck size. Asked right away how much a full truck would cost. $529. No more, possible less if not filled. No extra cost for bed mattress. Just like their website says, you point, they clean. David and Philip very professional. We told them what we wanted to keep and they did exactly that and more. They found hidden items and handed them over to us. Even silver coins! They worked nonstop for 4 1/2 hrs in 100 degree weather. If you have "junk" like we did. Their services are worth every penny. Highly recommend if you are dealing with hoarding house. They did allow me to bargain with them a bit since they came just a few minutes outside of their window (through no fault of these 2 guys). So I stayed home and waited, while my son-in-law pushed the pile together ever tighter. We were both sure the next truck would get it all. At 5:00 p.m., another truck showed up and this time it was empty. We told them of our experience and they called a supervisor who apologized and said he would take of $100.00 and we had a $50.00 dollar of coupon so the first trip would be less but my card was still charged $420.00 The second set of men, an older man named Whiley, and a younger man whose name I can not recall started to pick up the garbage. They were putting in the truck by stacking instead of tossing, but they also were picking up a piece at a time, as they also did not even bring a shovel. My son-in-law gave one man a wheelbarrow, which helped a bit. The man he lent the wheelbarrow to was indeed working but the other man, Whiley, was standing off to the side and on his phone most of the time he was here. My son-in-law started to help pick up the trash and put it in the truck. If he had not helped, the little that took 2 hours would have taken 4 hours. Whiley, who was barely working just looked at the grass covered pile of boards, clothes and toys and asked my son-in-law how am I supposed to get that. To which, my son-in-law replied just pick it up and using a shovel just shoveled a large portion in to the wheelbarrow. Then he handed the shovel to Whiley. I also had some large platforms stacked up at the back of the yard that my husband had intended to make a shed out of. Since what trash there was left was so little my son-in law suggested we could get rid of those as well. So my son-in-law measured the width of the truck and started cutting the platforms into thirds so they could be slipped on top of the garbage in a stack about a foot and 1/2 high. This was about an hour and half after they got here. They saw what my son-in-law was doing and for some reason, maybe because my son-in-law was no longer watching/helping them, that is when the men stopped stacking and had started tossing. Which doing so of course caused the truck to be filled with air more than trash. JUST AS MY SON-IN-LAW was about finished with cutting, Whiley announced the truck was full. My son-in-law wanting to finish and get the rest in jumped up on the truck and moved things around making plenty of room for the bit that was left. They begrudgingly threw a few more pieces in the truck then told my son-in-law we have to get going now or you are going to go into over time. NOW NO WHERE IN ANY AD, THAT I READ OR ANY THAT I HEARD WAS THERE A MENTION OF OVERTIME COST FOR LABOR. In fact, the only reference to time had been in answer to a list of questions, "What if after a couple of hours I still have garbage" and the answer was, "Don't worry we work until midnight." My son-in-law knowing the money I had already spent and not wanting me to be out even more, asked when does overtime start. Whiley then told him you are probably in it now. My son-in-law said it would just take 15 or 20 minutes more to get it all. Whiley replied we got to get going now and closed the truck and left with the space needed to finish the job unfilled. I was billed $446.00 for the second load that is $866.00 total I paid. For $866.00 I could not get 4 good men to shovel a pile of trash 5ft to 6ft in diameter less than a foot high into a truck that is supposed to hold 15 cubic yards. I would have been better off renting a U-haul for less than $100.00 and paying for one trip to the dump. When I complained I was told I got a fair price but they would give me $150.00 toward my next order. Right as if I would hire this bunch again!!!!! DO NOT use this company they mislead you!! NO THEY DOWN RIGHT LIE TO YOU. I WAS ALSO TOLD I NEEDED PICTURES TO PROVE WHAT I WAS SAYING. WELL I DON'T HAVE A FULL FACED PICTURE BUT I DO HAVE ONE THAT CLEARLY SHOWS HOW SMALL THE PILE WAS. So I'm giving them two stars..one for being prompt and on time and another for being a business with trucks and uniforms, I can appreciate an overhead on this. My problem is that they came out, looked at the trash and junk to go and said it would be a truck and a half. 750.00 dollars. I was shocked. It didn't look like that much to me and when I questioned this they said the branches from the quava tree would add a lot of room. Seriously...they were 1/4 inch round. I told them they would munch down the minute anything fell on them. Thanks but no thanks. We called someone else who came out with a truck and trailer and charged me 150.00. Their gimmick is to send a team and truck out, evaluate your "junk" (in my case it was yard debris--dried twigs, limbs and clippings), them give you "pricing". They arrive with two trucks and tell me each truck filled will be over $500 . The young guys were nice. Felt sorry for them. Figured one truck would do the job. Nope! They couldn't fit a good-sized pile into one truck! Because they didn't compact it, or put large branches on top. Left half the pile in the yard, $550 later. Literally 30 minutes worth of work!! Never again. Would rather hire a college student to fill my pickup truck with two loads to landfill for $150!! read more

Before I get into what I was not satisfied with, let me say that the crews that came out to pick up my stuff were terrific. They worked hard and did everything they could to help get rid of my stuff. The first day Mike M. and Steve ? came out. The second day the crew was good, but I was so annoyed with everything else about 1800GotJunk that I forgot their names. Sorry guys. Here's what was wrong. When I booked the appointment, I stated that I need to get rid of a lot of miscellaneous household stuff and some furniture, etc. My first mistake was assuming that someone would call to get some detail about my needs. They did not. My appointment was in the late afternoon on Friday. Mike and Steve called and told me they were on their way and they arrived when they said they would. When they got here, I showed them all the stuff that need to be picked up and they said it wouldn't fit in one truck and they wouldn't be able to get a second truck out there that day. They said when I schedule the next pick up to state that I need 2 trucks. As they got to work on the first load, I went online and booked another appointment for Sunday morning and I requested 2 trucks and received an email confirming my appointment. No one called to confirm what I had, but I wasn't concerned because I requested 2 trucks. The next day I had to call and reschedule because a conflict came up. The person I spoke to at 1-800-Got-Junk said he could reschedule me for Monday afternoon. I thought everything was taken care of. On Monday afternoon, 1 truck showed up. I ask the crew where the other truck was and he said there was only one. He said they can only send 2 trucks on morning runs. It wasn't his fault, so I called 1-800-Got-Junk to complain that they didn't send 2 trucks as requested, nor did anyone call in advance and let me know that they couldn't send 2 trucks. They person on the phone captured my concerns and asked to speak with one of workers. From the conversation I overheard, the driver saw that morning that I had requested 2 trucks and only 1 was being dispatched. He brought it up to his manager and expected that the manager would contact me, but he didn't call. The person on the phone booked another appointment for me this afternoon. I requested 2 trucks again, because the crew thought everything they had to leave behind wouldn't fit in one truck. The guys loaded everything they could into the truck and I made plans to miss more time from work to be here today. Well, the third crew is here as I write this. They called earlier to let me know when they would be here. AGAIN, only 1 truck was coming. I immediately called 1-800-Got-Junk to complain. Still no one from the local shop has called me. They crew is trying to fit everything into the truck that is here and we have tentative plans for them to come back first thing tomorrow if it doesn't fit. I have taken time off on 3 days and may need to take time off on a 4th day. This is ridiculous. A simple phone call from the local shop to discuss my needs would have eliminated 90% of this. The crew that works to load all this stuff I'm isn't getting rich off of this. I believe that this is a franchise operation and the owner of this franchise does not deserve the profit he is making. He should give it to his employees. read more
