Update: We were finally told a few days ago that our container would be arriving Monday (this morning). We had to plead with the city for a new (rushed) permit. But yet again we had to call to discover that the shipment was delayed and our belongings won't be arriving today as promised. The supervisor we spoke to says that she is unsure of what the hold up is and will get back to us with an update. Each time we have had to reach out and otherwise would not have been told our container was not coming. Pack Rat has agreed to pay for our unused permits but this delay has inconvenienced not only us, but also our neighbors, and we will be expecting additional compensation. read more

I recently sold my home, and, rented a storage container from Pack-Rat My Experience . Deliver and pick- up. Had a great driver that explained how the operation worked. The deliver was supposed deliver in the morning or early afternoon. The container arrived at 9:00 that evening. This set me back a day from moving as I was getting closer to my close date. . Pick-up, same thing happened, was to be picked up morning to mid-afternoon, came about 8:00 that evening. . Customer service, they are out to get the best financial profit and will play around with the quote numbers. They quoted my the same price for a 16ft container, tried charging the same for a 12ft. I decided to rent the 16ft container. . Less then a month after renting the 16ft container, I received an email of a price increase. Sorry, I find this troubling that they quickly increase the rental price for more profit. I would be very cautious dealing with Pack-Rat. I will not use them in the future or recommend that due to their business practices. I simply can't trust them. There are alternatives that I strongly suggest you look at. I had a few friend that we're going to work with Pack-Rat, they are now dealing with alternative container companies. read more

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I HAVE HAD A POD SITTING IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE FOR 5 MONTHS! My contractor and I have called a dozen times and have scheduled pickups only to be waiting each time with no one showing up!!! Do Not use Packrat. While the front line people are nice enough, their management and logistics are awful. When they deliver the container they have to make sure the doors are facing the correct way before they load it on the truck. I simply wanted the doors to face my garage. Of course the truck showed up and the doors were set to face away from the garage, which in my case is a hillside of ivy. The poor driver said the office is always getting it wrong. So he has to go drop the container somewhere and reverse it. Things just got worse from there. Use anybody else. read more

They are way more reasonable than their competitors. Everything went as agreed. I took one star off for the lack of communication after paying deposit, and it was almost impossible to talk to anyone or ask questions, which left me quite nervous. Overall it all worked out though read more

I don't know if I can recommend this company without telling you what to watch out for. Problem #1: I was told that the driver would call me an hour before he arrived to pick up the container. That did not happen. He called 5 minutes before and I nearly missed him. That would have been traumatic. #2: The company charged me $277.00 more than was sent to me in an emailed quote. They said it was for increased cost of fuel. I had a long discussion with Martin over the phone about this since there was no extra fuel charge listed or an itemized receipt sent to me. read more

Had a quote done for a unit to move out of state. Had a quote number and several continuous emails from the company "Erin Smith" which seems to not even be a valid person at the company asking if they could help more with my quote. I tried to call the number listed for "Erin Smith" who is the long distance sales manager and its not his voicemail. Left a few messages even tried to put my quote number in the system but its not valid. WASTE OF MY TIME! I can't even imagine if I was to book their service and pay for my items to be shipped if they can't even return a call or stop the robo emails from a fake employee. read more

Refused to fix the damage pointing to their terms and conditions that state "customer assumes all responsibility even if Pact Rat causes the damage" and is negligent. Horrible customer service. Awful Customer Service.. For a business that relies on people's personal belongings they're not very helpful or considerate. We've called countless time all hours of the day to get our storage container shipped to our place, no help. We tried driving to the facility and were told we'd have to wait a week for what ever reason. Please help how, can i get my storage delivered to my house? Also, why is it when I call during the hours of operation on the website, the phone service says I'm calling out of hours of operation when I called before 11 pm? Do not use this company. We stored our belongings while we were in between homes using their facilities. We were told we needed to call a day or two in advance to get our belongings. Even giving 5 days notice, we were told our pod couldn't be delivered for TWO WEEKS after the date we requested. There was zero attempt to rectify the issue. They took our money and didn't follow through on their services. Don't use them. read more

Where to begin. Unit not dropped off at 8pm so moving crew sent home. Scheduled drop off at new house in morning and had to pay an extra $50 for a specific time frame. No show and no call until 2:30pm. Driver called out "sick", finally delivered at 5:30pm. Moving crew again sent home and this time we lost money because of it! We were on a horribly tight moving schedule and it screwed up everything! Can't ever get through to a human being on the phone. Finally tell me it has to sit in my driveway for another 2 1/2 weeks because they now don't have time to pick up. I have never had such a horrible experience with a nationally know service company before. read more

HORRIFIC company DO NOT USE! We had a reservation for tomorrow booked over a month in advance. They call tonight, the night before the drop off and say "we can not guarantee ANY unit as we did not get the delivery we were hoping for". We have moving people coming and our house is being gutted the following day. WHAT A SHAME! How do you make a guaranteed reservation and not know your inventory. We are in such a bind and on the phone all over again with other companies who are scrambling to help us. Simply horrible and I hope no one has to go through this with any company they ever use. read more

If I could give no stars I would! This company is a rip off! They add in all kinds of fees that ARE NOT IN THEIR QUOTE! Customer service is terrible, their website is terrible nothing can be deciphered, they over charged me numerous times. They charge for every little fee. While yes it is convenient that they drop off this box for you to load your belongings into it is costing me over $966 for pick up, storage, and delivery for 3 months!!! Had I known from the quotes it would be this expensive (because again they didn't add in all their fees) I would have rented a UHAUL truck moved it to their storage facility and stored it there for $125.00 a month! Their website and billing is garbage I couldn't navigate worth a crap! I also asked to pay for insurance for our stuff and it was never added in! On top of it when the container was delivered to my home they came with the truck and container loaded the long way after I described word for word EXACTLY how it needed to be delivered. I will never EVER recommend this company to anyone, nor will I ever use them again. Not sure who left their reviews on their website and gave them all 5 stars...must have been employees....and I do not recommend this service for anyone. read more

I had the daunting task of packing up the contents of my mother's house. It was the accumulation of 64 years of "stuff". I didn't want the hassle of renting a storage unit, renting a truck, loading the truck, unloading the truck then storing the contents in a container. Pack Rat took the hassle out of this project. An empty container was delivered to my mother's home, family and friends packed it up, the next day it was delivered to my home 55 miles away. I will be eternally grateful for the support I received from the Pack Rat staff as I went through this experience. Everyone I spoke to was a knowledgeable professional. Robert and Bruce in North Carolina were amazing. Most memorable of all is Sam the driver who was able to solve each and every problem no matter how complicated and impossible they might appear. He made it all happen. Pack Rat is an amazing company to deal with. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I was given a lock by the company and it malfunctioned 2 days later and I had to pay someone to come out and break into the lock and I was told the company would look into reimbursing me (after my shipping container was picked up 3 weeks later). I called the company on the day of the lock out and got no answer. I called back 4 days later to talk to someone, because no one answered the emails or phone calls the 4 days earlier from me and/ or the other 1800PACKRAT agent trying to get in contact with this branch. I was offered a few extra days of the storage bin usage, but after I had payed out of pocket for the locksmith and paid the movers extra money. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
