We walked in and they couldn't take us and asked if we could return in 30 min, mind u she didn't speak English, we only understood because she wrote the time on a piece of paper and she said pay now, so she had us pay up front. Why? That's ridiculous. We returned and my massage start 5 min after my husbands. I walked in the room and there was a beach towel there for me to cover myself, not a sheet, weird. The lady massaging me was texting while massaging me w one hand and whispered she was going to take another customer. Another lady walked in, and finished. My girlfriend and I went in for a couple's massage. We called in to ask if there was an open time slot for the two of us. They kept calling us back over and over again to ask if we were coming. It was pretty intense and unusual but we went anyway because it was $60/per. However they charged me a $5 fee for using my card and had me pay upfront. One of the guy masseuse was laying face down on one of the clean tables as he was waiting on business traffic. First red flag. The massage was ok, but both of the ladies for both my girlfriend and I kept leaving the room and sent us out 10 mins earlier than the full hour. As we were walking out getting ready to leave, they demanded a $20 tip per massage lady. So a total of $40 additional dollars ( 36%) We said, we'd only give $10 each and no more because a tip is optional not obligatory. The lady at the desk (potentially the owner) kept saying, $15 each would be better as she was breaking my $100 bill. We said, we want $80 dollars change please and she kept demanding at least $15 each but they were lucky to get $10 ea at least. My girlfriend and I were considering maybe going back, prior to the tip extortion attempt. They lost 2 customers just for being greedy. Hopefully, this review will help them understand that it is not ok to demand a $20 tip or just a tip in general. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try anyways. The staff was friendly, they do have private rooms, and massages were ok. However I asked twice for my masseuse to focus on my head,neck, and shoulders, and that was disregarded. I was pretty disappointed because that was the reason we went there. She did spend an unnecessary amount of time rubbing my butt and deep inner thighs. My husband said he experienced the same thing and came home with oily "berries" from so many "accidental" graze's. I have a negative experience here. The staff was very rude. At the end of the service the receptionist Emily Zhai was disrespectful, Once my massage was over I thanked everyone and was heading over to my car. I was planning on tipping but don't carry cash on me so I needed to get some change from my car. Emily stopped me in my tracks and informed me "i haven't payed yet" I informed her I payed on groupon and she specified that I haven't tipped yet. First they make you lay back with your feet in a tub which killed my back worse than it already was when I came in. Then they rubbed my feet super lightly where it felt more like tickling or exfoliating more than massaging. It was so disappointing. When it came time for my back, they used elbows and forearms, and were pressing way to hard no matter how many times I asked them to go gentle. They also have you take off your shirt without giving you any privacy which is so uncomfortable. My whole experience there was terrible. If I were a pushy person I would have demanded a refund. I rarely give reviews. Exceptions are when something is really great, or not so much. Unfortunately, this falls into the latter category. Here's the deal: This was my first time to this establishment, and this was a couples massage Groupon gift for my birthday, scheduled on my birthday, confirmed a week prior. Upon arriving 15 minutes early, everything seemed fine. We were taken to the back rooms, then told that we have to be in separate rooms because someone else was scheduled at the same time as us. This turned out not to be true. They accepted a walk-in couple ahead of us, most likely because walk-ins are more money than a Groupon. Not cool! A bad business practice if you're trying to attract new clientele. As far as the Massage went, the quality of the massage was good, however, the girl that I had, Jenny, was for the most part non-English speaking. We were able to work things out through signals, so that didn't really bother me, as she was very nice and attentive to my request for emphasis on certain areas of my back. My GF said that she had a similar experience and enjoyed her massage as well. The Groupon was for a couples massage with hot stones and essential oil, although I don't recall getting any essential oil. Still, overall the massage was a good experience. Emphasis on the Massage. Not the business transaction part of it. A reservation is a contract, and this reservation was made a month prior, and confirmed earlier in the week prior to the appointment. Cindy and Yo-yo are great massage therapists and they always work through the knots in my neck and back. We always call ahead to book our appointment-- 8 hours to 24 hours ahead. I like that they wash your feet before they massage the feet. I appreciate there is a cost effective place to get a massage but still have great service. We (my husband and I) always tip $20 for a $40 (90 min) full body chair massage. The therapists work very hard and based on $40 they couldn't be making that much money. Tip well when you go! I was introduced to this place through a Groupon that I had last year and having had several back surgeries felt so blessed to have found them. Especially since I realized I didn't have to use Groupon to get the $60 hot stone massage that I wanted and needed every month. However this last time I went in, everything seemed to have changed! My friend and I had to book our appointments through the manager because the person who answered the phone earlier in the day didn't even speak English, and didn't understand what we were asking for. It was so frustrating to speak to someone answering the phone that didn't speak English. That's horrible customer service. But then we arrived to our appointments and both of us had massuses that didn't speak English, did not use the essential oils we requested, did not use the hot stones like they did before, and then only turned us over for the massage on the other side two minutes before our time was up! Mine looked at me completely confused when I asked her to massage "my other side" as she looked at the clock. We were not able to see the clock as we were face down facing the opposite direction from the clock so only are massage therapist could see it and did not manage it well. I was so disappointed even though the price is good I feel like they're really skimping and have started to minimize their services because they don't have enough people or good people working for them. As soon as I sit down for an hour long foot massage the lady asks me to take my shirt off. The water for foot spa is not warm. The staff probably served me the water used by previous customer. The staff is unprofessional and rude. I have no language barrier with them. I pointed out a spot on my shin with a visible mark and asked the staff to not touch it, but the staff ignored my instruction and kept touching that spot with hand and towel. I should not have paid anything for this kind of service damaging my health. Because I have an appointment later, I tipped $5 for the $25 service. However, the staff even said the tip is not enough and asked for more tips at the end. According to San Jose ORD NO 29662, all massage therapists should be certified by the California Massage Therapy Council. The staff serviced me is probably not licensed. Besides the service, the toilet doesn't follow ADA code.
