We've taken our dog to a couple different Yelp-reputable places in LA to get groomed, but found that Jojo's place was more convenient for us this weekend. While we went in expecting to just get her groomed here this one time, we're definitely going to come back every time we need her groomed. Firstly, I called Jojo on a Saturday hoping to make an appointment for the following day. I know that calling with such late notice is usually overly ambitious for dog groomers, but she was happy to accommodate our schedule. I was pleased to hear that she mostly works by appointments, meaning that she doesn't take on more than she can handle (which I have seen at a couple other groomers'). Another logistical perk was that parking is easy and plentiful. It was nice that she has a back-entrance that is easily accessible from the back parking lot. When we came in, it was surprisingly empty. Jojo told us that since it was Coco's first time, she wanted to make sure she Coco got the attention she deserved, so she didn't take any other appointments that day. Coco was visibly very nervous being in a new environment, but Jojo was understanding and made large attempts at making her feel comfortable by letting her sniff around and by trying to play with her before we left. It was already obvious that Jojo really cares that the dog (and owner) is comfortable with her prior to leaving the dog. The second part of why we love this place is how good Jojo is at her job. She sat us down to make sure she understood exactly what we wanted; this is very different from other groomers where you just kind of drop off your dog and hope that the groomer does a good job. She also does a pat down of the dog to identify if there are any areas she should be weary of prior to starting her work. We explained to her that while Coco's last cut was really cute, it was too long and grew back very quickly. We want a cut that will last her 2-3 months before we have to get her hair cut again; all past groomers have been unsuccessful at making it short AND cute, so if she were able to make it cute somehow, that would be miraculous. ...3.5 hours later, our Coco was still so adorable! We were pleasantly surprised at how cute she still was, but knew that the cut was going to last at least a few months. We could also see that Coco was much happier and trustful of Jojo! Needless to say, we were very happy with our overall experience. It was $60 for our maltipoo for the whole package--teeth, nails, anal glands, shampoo, and a very detailed hair cut. However, pricing depends on how much work your dog needs (but she's very transparent about how she determines the price). Coco was never neglected and given lots of love and attention! I have tried a few chained pet Gromming places and some private groomers in this area but I could not find anyone that I really love and feel safe to leave my dog with (my dog had a case of bad diarrhea after visiting one groomer) . My current vet recommended this place and after reading good reviews on Yelp I brought my dog here . Jojo is very sweet and she took her time explained everything to me before we started since my dog is 16 years old and she had never groomed her before. And she allowed me to stayed the entire time just so my dog will not get nervous without me around since this is the first time . And she was right my baby didn't even twitch an eye brow when she was getting her nails clipped. The entire experience was great and my baby looked so good after . I really like the attention Jojo gives her customer (the furry ones ) and she is so experienced and very gentle with my dog and I can tell my dog likes Jojo as well . So glad I found a good groomer I like and can trust , I highly recommend This place ! read more

They are closed Tuesdays but Jojo will pick up the phone to set appointments if you call in. Took my chubby pug to visit her and she quoted me a price prior to bringing my dog in and then confirmed the price based on the dog. For the first visit, she had me help her hold my dog for the nail trim and it was sooo much easier than whatever I was doing at home. She's quick on those nails! My dog has a very shy and timid personality and he did fine. Dropped him off at the set appointment time and he was ready within a couple of hours. Only thing with this place might be the look of it is a bit old, but so far so good! read more

I gave one star because no-star option is not available. I don't know if the groomer used some kind of chemical to calm my dog down during the process so she wouldn't move around but after I picked her up, I noticed some black/dark spots all over her body. Once she got home, she puked on the floor. I bathe her myself two weeks later and those spots are not fading away. I guess it's somewhat permanent now. :/ Also, make sure to ask for the pricing. Before dropping off my dog, the owner told me $45. Every time I pick up the dog, she'd come up with the same excuse, "Oh your dog kept moving around so it's hard to trim her." She then asks for $50 instead. Last time she said $55, so I got really annoyed and told her this is not the way to do business. read more

Located on Valley and Fairway, next to Showdown Tattoo Parlor. The entrance to this dog groomer is located in the back, where the parking lot is. I have taken my dog to several grooming salons (Petsmart, Bubble Dog Pet Grooming, etc.) and this is by far, our favorite. My maltipoo has been a loyal customer for over a year now and I can't imagine taking him anywhere else. My dog comes here about every two to three months for his usual pampering and grooming services. I like to ask for a bath with haircut, nail trim, teeth brushing, and flea and tick bath (if necessary). Jojo and Richard are both very gentle and care for my dog like he is their own. I recommend calling ahead of time to make an appointment, as they may not always have time for walk-ins. After the appointment, you can definitely tell how much time and care went into pampering my little guy. Nothing makes me happier than seeing Scooby sprinting towards me with his new soft and fluffy hairdo, smelling clean and fresh. Sometimes he is cut to look like a tiny teddy bear, which is just about the cutest thing ever. When it is scorching hot outside, Iike our current summer weather, I do prefer him to be completely shaved. Hair mats, fleas, overgrown nails, etc. can affect and hurt your dog. So, please remember to take your pet to the vet and groomers regularly; as it is important to keep your dog healthy and happy. Scooby will be back soon! read more

This is my first visit after reading all the reviews and talked over the phone with the owner (Jojo). She was very patient and explained all the details of what services will be performed. Even though it took couple hours but trust me, it worth the time. Other places quoted me cheaper, but their services weren't as professional as Jojo. I have been talking my Lab to this salon for more than 6 month, I always had good experiences with them. However, today I was waiting outside for my dog to get her bath done, while they are drying her hair i kept hearing screaming and crying. We recently got a Maltipoo puppy and this is the first time we've had a dog that needed anything more than a good bath and brush every once in a while. So I had to look for a groomer. 101 Pets had cards dropped at our vets so I picked one up and thought I'd give it a try. The building is a little bit hard to find, but when I called to set up the appointment I asked for directions and they gave me great landmarks to follow. Everyone is extremely friendly. When I first brought our dog I didn't know anything about how a Maltipoo should be groomed. They actually had a few poodles (one was the owners) in the back. They brought them out so that I could see a typical style for that size/type of dog. After her first grooming she was adorable and very clean. Her hair grew back very fast and was unmanageable. During our next visit I explained this and they said they could cut it much shorter and it would still be adorable. And they were so RIGHT. They did a great job. The best way I can describe the cut is that she looked a bit like a white and tan scotty dog. They took the time to show me the tools they used so that I could pick some up for maintenance in between appointments. They even showed me how to use them. The more I try to groom and brush the puppy at home, the more I appreciate what they do when I bring her in for appointments. She's only 5 months old and getting her to stay still long enough to get the knots out is really hard. She doesn't enjoy being brushed and snaps at me (something we're working on). The prices are also the most reasonable I've found. Her first appointments were only $25 and the last, in which she got the really short, more intensive cut, was $35. She's almost full size, so the prices should stay pretty constant. I would recommend 101 Pets Grooming to anyone with a stinky, hairy, smelly dog. They do a wonderful job! read more
