Im pretty sure this is the only Boba cafe in Simi. So i don't want to lay the iron fist on it. But its ok. The boba isn't the best but it'll do, the drink mixes are decent and they have snacks which I like. But I still go to this place as a last resort. The workers there are really nice and accommodating so thats always a plus. They have Wi-fi for people who spend a certain amount. But in the end, Id still rather drive to the valley to get good boba. read more

Still great and still consistent as ever. I honestly can't say enough nice things about this place. Isa, the wonderful owner, knows my name now! Did she read my Yelp review or something? I know I told her about it. Anyway, she's still just as adorable to me. One of the things I really like about 118 Cafe are the rotating specials. Since it's the holidays, they have holidays-themed drinks like Egg Nog Milk Tea. I haven't tried it, but maybe I will soon. Tonight, I ordered the Hazelnut Milk Tea and asked for the hot version. Delicious despite the absence of boba or ice. Toward the end, though, it started to taste a little too watery, I'm not sure why. I also ordered the Fried Zucchini, which I expected to be french fry-shaped. Turns out they were just zucchini slices. No problem! They were delicious! You can't go wrong with zucchini, cucumber's pretty sister. And when it's fried...HELLO. I ate it with their wonderful, thick sweet and sour sauce. I can't get over that sauce, either. My friend got Honeydew, Chocolate Chip, and Lavender Cookies. They were small and crispy, not exactly how I like my cookies. HOWEVER, the honeydew and lavender were fantastic. Kudos to whoever thought of those flavors. I'm definitely coming back for more. Bottom line, there are still so many things to try at 118 Cafe, and it's my goal to try all of them. read more

Me and a buddy came here for lunch. He was really excited about getting some chewy coffee. I was more excited for the excitement of going somewhere new and unknown. We walked in and walked up to the counter. The girl behind the counter greeted us and explained some of the items on the menu. After I perused the menu for a minute or so, I ordered the Crispy Salmon Teriyaki Combo Meal. the girl behind the counter told me about the "Soy Sauce Egg" that came with the meal, and implied that I wouldn't like it. So I took her advice, and went with the pan fried egg option she gave me. My buddy got a vegetarian meal. We went to sit at a table and connect to the Internet with our devices. The girl behind the counter happily gave me the Internet passkeys and logon info when I asked. Sitting on the table was a Chinese checkers game. I didn't remember how to play, and it looked like it was missing some pieces anyways. A checkerboard sat on another table, and a half-set up chess board sat on another. A magazine rack with magazines in English and Chinese (I think) stood behind us. A few minutes later an older woman came around the counter with our plates Happy-behind-the-counter-cgirl came out with packets of soy sauce, forks, and napkins for us to use. The food was good. Their Iced tea reminded me of the tea I get at Chinese restaurants for some reason. My buddy slurped down his coffee through the giant straw and chewed the black boba balls. Coffee was so not meant to be chewy. One of these days I'll try a boba. Today wasn't that day. Maybe next time. We will be back. My buddy expressed an overwhelming desire to return. I gave this place 3 stars however it really deserved 2 :-/ sorry. But the cashier was informative so I gave an extra star. I ended up ordering a taro milk boba which was ok...had waaaaaaaaay better in the sgv and even better in van nuys. This boba here is just too sweet. Then if I don't have an amount over $5 they charge me 50 ¢ ! What the.....ugh nevermind that is just plan stupid!! So I ordered one of my fave things ever cha siu bao and I hate to say it but wow totally over priced for these two baos . may I just say they were horrible !!!! Edible but horrible!!! Are these frozen or what? Even the frozen ones are better!!! Oh well I had asked a friend where should I go to meet a friend to hang out with in simi valley he said this area sucks!!!! I have been coming here for 7 years and have been building a steady relationship with Isa for 2. I love it here! They really make you feel like family and Isa is sweet! She even gave me a treat for my birthday! Anyway, the boba itself is adequate. Some days it's amazing but sometimes it feels a bit old, but I guess it depends. Most days I have no complaints. The Thai tea tastes a lot like tea so it's not for me, but it'll suit someone's tastes. My friends love it. What I really love is the caramel milk tea. It's my favorite! The regular milk tea is good too, but I do like sweets so caramel is my go-to order. I love the popcorn chicken here and the fries are amazing. My sis has gotten the shaved ice and that is delicious too. I'm so glad this place stays in business even when we do not have high Asian population. read more

This appeared to be the only place that had tapioca close to Santa Barbara and since its the only one, it was just OK. Can't say it'd ever be worth the drive again but it filled a craving, I guess. I tried the Hazelnut Milk Tea from another yelp review here saying it was good and it wasn't very good at all. I absolutely love hazelnut, in everything, but this tasted too sweet. It wasn't very creamy or tasted much like hazelnut. It reminded me of coffee with a lot of sweetener. I tasted my sister's Thai Tea, which tasted better, but still not milky. Milk tea should have milk in it! Both of them tasted like powder mix, which I'm sure all their milk teas are. I'd recommend a blended drink or something, maybe it'll taste better. The actual tapioca balls were soft but had a strong flavor to it, which they shouldn't. I give it 3 stars for its games inside the cafe to play and hang out. Since it was a 2 hour drive for us, it was nice to be able to do something while we made use of our time there. They also have free Wi-Fi which would be a plus if I needed it. read more

First off I want to say is that this place has WONDERFUL food! I am not gonna lie and tell you it is easy to find, it isn't, but once you zero in on it, it is well worth the hunt. It is cozy, comfortable, typically Asian, cute, quaint and quirky. The owner is very friendly and was very helpful our first time there. I even found out I like Soy boiled eggs, who knew?!? I had the Crispy Pork Chop and veggies,,,It was great. Almost everyone in our party had a Boba of some kind and they all were wonderful. The servers are friendly and you can get some drinks warm with boba- I prefer my drinks warm with boba, usually. They have a good selection of flavors, and seemingly have monthly specials on different flavors. Probably one of the coolest places in town. It is a relaxed environment that allows you to hang out with friends or study for school by yourself. I find myself always going because the drinks are so good, and I don't feel awkward. The workers actually talk to you and make it more personal. The tables have board games and they have many magazines and a small gift shop inside. When you are craving taro milk tea or Vietnamese coffee make the trip to 118 cafe. It's delicious. read more

They always make my boba just the way I like it. Chewy, but fully saturated. This is a regular hang out for me because the atmosphere is so friendly. This is the kind of place you can relax with a snack and a book, our play a game with freinds while you slurp your milk tea. My personal favorite for snacking: Chai Ginger Coffee with steamed custard buns. My favorite for dinner: Beef Stew Noodle Soup with Strawberry Green Tea. The only downside is that the blenders get super loud at times, but that's a price I'm willing to pay for a great hang out. When I was pregnant with my daughter (5years ago) the owner made me papaya slush with boba (not in the menu) to help me with.. if you have been pregnant and have "this" issue papaya is really good for you. Food here is pretty good- fair prices as well. You guys should try their mango tea here! promise you, you'll end up buying it at least 4 times a week. I recommend their avocado boba as well. It isn't as sweeet, which was perfect. The strawberry smoothie good too, is recommend that you ask the guy to lessen the syrup because it's too sweet. The place also has a piano which was cool. 118 Cafe is a gem here in Simi Valley. You can get basically any kind of boba drink you could want, as well as different jelly and pudding options to customize it to your liking. Additionally, there are so many types of food and snacks. Typically my friends and I will get rice bowls, which come with different meat options on top. They are fairly inexpensive, and make a great lunch or dinner. They also have a good amount of vegetarian and vegan options. The atmosphere is great to study or to hang out with friends. Isa is always incredibly kind and welcoming. She loves to make good food and drinks for the community and we couldn't be more grateful for her and her cafe! read more

Went here all the time as a teenager, rediscovered it recently. Nothing has changed! :) I crave their lychee smoothie at least twice a week; in fact, they have my favorite smoothies in the area. So many hidden gems on the menu. Curry chicken bowl, lemon pepper chicken, grilled salmon combo...I haven't found food this good and this filling for this cheap anywhere else in Simi Valley. Ordered a Americano with protein and it was clumpy and undrinkabke so told the employee. He just blended it more instead of starting over. Took another drink and said forget it left the drink that still had chunks of protein on the counter and left. My daughter didn't like her Thai tea either. Almost $8 down the drain. My favorite thing about this place is the friendly environment. The people who work here get to know their customers and are willing to do a lot to accommodate them. The boba is cooked on the soft side, but I like it that way, plus there are several different types of jellies to choose from. They have a pretty good variety of teas, coffees, mixed juices and smoothies for your drinks. Also, if you don't see what you want on the menu you can ask about it and they will usually be able to make exactly what you're looking for. The meal combos are all tasty, they are mostly homemade Chinese dishes. My favorites are the salmon and savory curry. The price is VERY good for what you get, most meals are $7 or less. The only drawbacks are: The service can be a little slow sometimes because it's a small operation and I wish they'd change the music to something that blended into the background more, because people mostly come there to relax and talk. read more

The perfect place to grab a drink and chill. It has tables and couches to relax, assorted boardgames to play, good music playing, and an excellent staff. Drinks- There are a ton of drinks! There is definitely something for you. If you try something the first time and don't like it, give it another chance with a different drink. I recommend the thai iced tea, pomegranate green tea, and green apple pomegranate tea. Food- I have only had the popcorn chicken and the cookies, but both were delicious. All in all, it is in my opinion the best hangout spot in Simi Valley, especially for young people. Starbucks is so stuffy, but this place is amazing. read more

I used to come here with my boyfriend all the time. They have an awesome selection of boba, milk teas and great food, too. Their lavender milk tea is one of my favorites of all time and I haven't been able to find a replacement for it since. I really wanted to like this place because it sounded interesting. Unfortunately, the "snacks" tasted like they were purchased frozen & tossed into a deep fryer. The slushy drink I got was way too sweet & over-priced for its size and the quality. The place was filled with very young teens hanging out with their friends and all of them seemed to be enjoying themselves. If you're quite young and never had anything better I could see how you might like this place. One minor annoyance was the bright light shining in my eyes when I tried to read the menu hanging behind the counter (see picture).
