Each and every time we've been here the food has alway been great. Service can varies here and there depending on how crazy busy the place gets. Sunday brunch is always a good thing here. We've never sat inside as we tend to always have the little pup with us. They do have a decent size patio out back. Covered umbrella helps with the heat. Today it was a slight wait for a table as the place was pretty busy. Didn't take long as there was a group that was getting ready to leave. Give or take 10 minutes or so. Staff are all very friendly and sweet. Slight wait to order as well but was fine. Started off with a bottle of the bubbly and orange juice for mimosas. Price wise is great if you have a group and it's with a full glass of juice. For the meal, a mixture of everything with our group. The chicken fried steak is a favorite of mine which i tend to alway get. Nice portion with gravy and served with eggs and whatever style of potatoes. Also either toast or biscuit and gravy's. The lox platter which comes with a good amount of salmon and all the trimmings. And whatever bagel you like. The veggie omelette was great as well and served with potatoes and toast. Lastly the French toast meal with added bacon. Of course if there's tater tots, that's alway a must. The food is alway consistent and good. Simple comfort breakfast dishes that's is always a good idea. A side of sausage and pancakes was had. It was a slight wait for food which understandable as it could have been during the rush hour. The service was really good except they did over charge us for the kid drinks. The food was ok. My husband said the French toast was generic. The pancakes were fluffy but they were slightly burnt. The bacon was just ok, but the sausage was amazing. The coffee was not great and personally I thought it was weak and had a weird flavor. What a hidden gem for breakfast! The outside and inside are both so cute and cozy--it felt like I was at a little vacation spot. The prices were surprisingly affordable. It's hard to find breakfast at these prices nowadays! The portions were huge, too. I absolutely loved the French toast--it was thick, fluffy, soft, and delicious. Yum! Came here at 10 AM on Friday. Parking lot was very crowded. Took a while to park. Upon entering the waitress was very upbeat and friendly. I had asked for water and there were two other members in my party. We ordered our food time went by another waitress came by and I asked her for some water. Food arrived. I had three egg omelette with hashbrowns again I asked the third server for Water. Nothing came. But somewhat disappointed with the service. Upon asking for the fourth time when I was halfway through my meal, then they brought the water. Drove up from West LA specifically for breakfast here and I'm happy that I did so. I am working through a long list of recommended breakfast restaurants and diners in Los Angeles County and Old Susana was on that list. I would describe it as a local gem and more of a to go breakfast spot that also caters to indoor dining. You can order at the counter and grab it to go or you can sit down in the dining room and have full service, which is what we did. There is a large parking lot attached with free parking so finding a space is very easy. Pricing is also very fair and all the sizes of the dishes are quite large. Our server was also very polite and everything that we ordered came out very quickly. This was our first visit so I wanted to get one of my favorite things to order which is Eggs Benedict. I saw that they had a Crab Cake Eggs Benedict so I selected that and I'm very happy that I did so. The crabcakes had a lot of flavor, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the side of hashbrowns were perfectly crispy. I was honestly impressed with the meal and it was a better breakfast than I had last weekend at another breakfast restaurant close by. The atmosphere wasn't welcoming at all if you're not a regular, it definitely feels that way. My partner and I felt out of place based on the looks we received from both staff and other guests, which made the visit uncomfortable. The service was just okay, the server did the bare minimum and nothing more. On top of that, the restaurant itself looked dirty and run down, which made it hard to enjoy the meal. Second time going to this cafe with a family of five. We arrived during brunch time on a Sunday and we were quickly seared in the patio. The wait to sit inside was a little longer but I suspect it was because it was a windy day. Our hostess was pleasant and took our drinks. She was so welcoming we honestly thought she was our waitress. Our waiter later came out and we ordered a mixture of breakfast and lunch. Mimosas are also available and made fresh. We ordered the French Connection, Huevos rancheros, two egg breakfast, chicken tender plate and an omelet breakfast. All meals were reasonably priced and portions were well above what we expected. The wait staff was kind and patient, two skills in my opinion, are hard to find in today's food service industry. This is truly a neighborhood cafe with a small town feeling. We were sitting outside this morning, and the service was extremely disappointing. It wasn't busy at all, yet our server (long gray hair) gave no refills until we asked, never came back after we finished, and we had to go inside multiple times just to get a to-go box, the check, and even to retrieve our card. We were left waiting outside in the hot sun while the staff stood around chatting with each other instead of helping customers. None of the staff showed professionalism. Very disappointed, and of course I left a 0 tip. Won't return. Thanks for responding. Good old continental breakfast. It's good stuff and we loved that there was a patio that allowed us to bring our dogs. We went on Memorial Day so it was crazy busy for a Monday morning which we understood. It took us a bit long to get seated and get our food but that's what happens when you go during a holiday. This is, by far, Simi Valley's very best breakfast place. The food is always delicious and plentiful. The waitstaff is always so nice and super attentive! The outside patio is perfect for any sunny weekend morning! And there prices are very REASONABLE! When every other restaurant in this town is raising their their prices by more than 50%, this owner has held out and just recently had to raise her very reasonable prices by a nominal 20%. And she felt terrible about it. She still has the best price/value ratio in town, by a long-shot! Lastly, you can really tell a lot about a restaurant just based on its bathroom situation. Although this place may have a small bathroom, it is apparent that the staff and ownership keep it in a very clean and pleasant condition. I had breakfast today at Old Susana Café with some friends in Simi Valley, and I have to say, this place is awesome. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was truly exceptional. I ordered the "Wagon Wheel" breakfast, which includes two large, fluffy pancakes with a unique and delicious flavor, eggs cooked to perfection (I prefer mine over medium), tender bacon, and juicy, succulent sausages--all for just $15.99. Can you believe that? You really get a lot of value for your money! Susana Café is also located in a beautiful, quiet area of Simi Valley, right along the highway. The atmosphere is great whether you choose to dine inside or outside. I'm definitely coming back for lunch next time, and it won't be long before I do! On this Thank You Thursday, I wanted to review this great local cafe on the east side of Simi Valley. Breakfast is served all day. There are plenty of options for everyone to choose from. They have a nice little patio to sit outside or you can sit inside in a bit of nostalgia. The food is good. The staff is friendly. Parking is plenty. It gets busy on the weekends. I came on a Thursday and it was busy, but we were seated right away. My omelet was perfect. My hash browns were crispy. The hot water for my tea was kept full. One thing that I really liked was that they brought you a selection of teas to choose from instead just one plain black teabag. If you choose to sit inside, a warm, diner, atmosphere will await you. However, if you choose to sit on the patio, you're also in for a treat. The patio is kept shaded and has lots of greenery. It feels secluded like you're in your own little corner of the world. The staff was very friendly. We were seated right away (with a choice of inside or outside) and didn't have to wait long for our drinks. There was an incredible selection of breakfast and lunch foods. Everything from omelets, to burgers, to over 10 different sandwich choices. Our waitress was prompt and checked in regularly. The portions were appropriate and the food was tasty.
