I wish I could give 0 stars because that's what this business deserves. While I understand medical and dental billing can be a complicated process, there is no need to be dishonest. A part of accepting dental insurance is submitting dental claims, and while they are very time-intensive, it is the responsibility of the dental practice/office staff to handle this process to ensure a positive customer experience. 12 Oaks completely drops the ball when it comes to this. It's sad to see skilled dentists hampered by poor business management and office staff lacking both tact and soft skills required for successful customer interaction. Furthermore, it is enraging as a customer to receive word that your dental claim was denied because not all the i's were dotted or t's were crossed by the office staff, thus requiring you to become heavily involved in the process! My experience dealing with this dental practice was nothing short of a headache, and it's absolutely not worth it! Going to the dentist is already an unpleasant experience, but having to haggle with office staff over substantial bills resulting from administrative errors makes it unbearable! I have been going to Dr. Worob and Dr. Barron for 10 years now. I refer all f my clients and friends to them. Finally, it is okay to go to the dentist with this office. I can relax (yes relax) with laughing gas, receive numbing cream, watch a movie or listen to my favorite music while I am at the Dentist office. Their staff is so friendly. Disclaimer: My sister-in-law Crystal Baker is one of the amazing hygienists here. Despite that, I've never had a better experience at another dentists' office, and I have had a LOT of dental work since second grade. I thoroughly enjoyed having a consultation with Dr. Barron for my first visit and then getting my teeth cleaned on the second visit, and I just went for my second cleaning and check up a couple of weeks ago. Crystal does an excellent (the best) job cleaning teeth. She's extremely thorough and great with checking to make sure you're ok (and she's entertaining). Everyone at 12 Oaks seems to always be positive and in good spirits, and I think that's a testament to the doctors themselves. They care more about their patients than any other dentist I've ever been to. Plus, they have fun events, contests, and incentives throughout the year that benefit their patients, employees, and the greater good. Sadly I post this after having a filling. My first filling, i think. A big disappointment on my otherwise unmarred dental career. That said, I've made it to age 28 with my teeth in great condition. Pretty impressive if you knew how much candy I eat. The secret of my success? Dr. Marc Worob. He's been my dentist since I first moved to austin at age 2. My whole family goes here. Marc is a friendly, funny guy and of course a great dentist. He also has a great staff. I've even had one of the same friendly hygienists for most of my life. He redid the whole office a few years back so that their equipment and systems are very modern. They can show you on screen how your last xrays looked, what were problem spots 6months ago, etc. I always feel better when Doctors are using technology to their full advantage. Even though I've long been too old to grab something from the toy chest after my visits, going to the dentist is still a pleasurable experience for me. read more

Although recommended by several friends, I unfortunately found this practice to be driven by profit margin goals, under the pretense of top-level dentistry. When presented with a written proposal for $10k worth of dentistry needs, Dr. Worob covered the total amount with his hands for most of the conversation, despite my asking to see the total. I'm an adult and can handle life decisions, and don't need psychological games to mitigate sticker shock. It felt like a transaction in a car dealership. Overall, I just didn't trust their intentions and always felt very uncomfortable in their office. read more

Dr. Worob and the staff at 12 Oaks Dental have been our family dentist for over 20 years! My son is the third generation to receive care from this team. Dr. Cronin has been a great addition to the practice too. The thing I love most about 12 Oaks Dental is that they are always studying and researching new techniques and ways to keep us healthier. They also pay attention to the whole health of the patient, to keep an eye on anything else in your medical history that might also affect your dental health. They don't "sell" you on procedures and tests you don't need, but they do make recommendations and suggestions to help you. The only con is that they are busy so if you have to reschedule an appointment you might have a wait. However they are very good about keeping you on their call lost to try and get you in sooner when someone else cancels. read more

Let me start by stating that my bad review is for Dr. Barron ONLY! The front desk and hygienists are WONDERFUL people! I'm not sure where the 5 star reviews for Dr. Barron are coming from, because I certainly did not have a five star experience with her. As I first time potential patient, I went in for a consultation with my boyfriend. He had explained to her that I was not keen on dentists or needles before the consultation, and I explained to her that I have a fear of dentists and a severe needle phobia at the consultation. After spending about 5 minutes about the work I needed, and I had agreed to have the exam done, she immediately started in on asking me if she could take blood tests on me for different diseases. I had never even know that dentists could do this now, and was immediately shocked about this. I said no, that's not what I'm here for...she kept asking me and I kept saying NO Until I had to walk OUT OF THE BUILDING SHAKING to get her to stop! She said it was " just a misunderstanding". I don't think so. You saw a middle aged,overweight woman, and pegged me for having diseases I do not have! Dr. Barron did not listen to me at all, refused NO as an answer, and hounded me until I walked out her building shaking?? This is 5 star service?? I wrote a letter to her stating how unprofessional the whole thing was, and she wrote back saying that it was all a misunderstanding and that I was the first person she had ever upset in her entire time of practicing. Give me a break! BIG RED FLAGS WAVING! The whole thing reeked of an arrogant, god-complex of a dentist who tries to forcibly get patients to do what she wants them to do, and when they don't comply, she uses charm and back-handed compliments to try to lure them back into her chair. She calls herself compassionate? I don't think so! I cannot recommend Dr. Barron at all to anyone who has a severe dentist fear, needle phobia. The worst part of this is, my boyfriend has been seeing her for several years now and has not had a problem with her trying to hard sell him on anything. I work for Whole Foods Market, and that's how I met Laura the hygienist at 12 Oaks Dental. She is a wonderful, and a warm person, and I felt compelled to try 12 Oaks Dental out even though I knew it was out of net-work and after my 1st appointment, I fell in love with them. EVERYONE in this office is top notch, and the kindest professionals you'll ever meet. Then there's Dr. Worob, well he is the nicest man, and professional I've ever met, and he gave out this huge pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving WOW!!!!!! The first person I met was Terri (love her voice:) and she rocks that office. Then I met Kelly, Carrie, and Wow!!! they all knew me by my name, and are super kind, and very professional. Then I met Deb, Dr. Worob's assistant. Deb made sure I was comfortable and warm and, and knew what Dr. Worob needed before asked, it was she could read his every move. Then I met David, Brandi, and Paddy (hygienist). They too were just accommodating, and knowledgeable. I lost my temporary tooth, and David made me one even better. Paddy, she knows that my teeth are super sensitive, and I never flinched not once. I am super excited to meet Dr. Barron in a future visit. The entire staff is extremely professional and supportive, and I would recommend them to anyone. My family has been going to Dr. Worob for over twenty years. Terry, formerly a receptionist, has been there that long as well as some of the hygienists like Laura. That says a lot about the kind of business Dr. Worob runs. He brought in Ms. Cronin as another dentist for the practice, and she couldn't be more people oriented and professional. We've had fillings, crowns, cleanings--you name it--over the years and it doesn't matter which dentist we get for which procedure. With any dental office, a customer hopes to get assistance with matters of insurance and this office is on the ball with that too. First, let me say that Doctors Worob and Barron are top-notch professionals, and the level of dentistry at Twelve Oaks is excellent. If they are in your network, and your insurance will cover everything without having to deal with billing and staff, disregard this review. If, however, there's any chance you will need to deal with billing issues, this is a business to avoid. They consistently mis-estimate the patient's responsibility by hundred of dollars, with bills coming unexpectedly in the mail up to 6 months after treatment. E-mail is not among their communication methods, and on-line payments are unheard-of. After years of imploring them to improve, I have finally given up -- there appears to be no impetus for improvement, and the lackadaisical attitude is that this is just "how it is." For me, a late and unexpected $700 charge was the last straw. Caveat Emptor. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Worob for 30 years after moving to Austin and believe that I have received the best dental care available. When it was necessary to have dental implants last year, naturally I spoke to Doctors Worob and Cronin about the procedure including the cost and completion schedule. Based on prior dental work performed by Dr. Worob to repair and maintain teeth damaged in an accident when I was 19, I had complete confidence in 12 Oaks Dental. I am very pleased with the dental implants (front four upper and front four lower teeth) and the new crowns inserted on all of my other teeth. The dental implant procedure included adjusting my bite to compensate for damage to the roof of my mouth caused by the accident which left me with an overbite and wide space between my front teeth. I now have natural looking and functioning teeth and I no longer hesitate to smile. My dental work, although extensive, was completed as scheduled and for the agreed upon amount. I had been going to Dr. Gustafson for over 15 years when 12 Oaks bought the practice, and things have only gotten better. Paddy (my hygienist) is fantastic, and makes me actually look forward to going to the dentist. In my experience, they're pragmatic -- they will do preventative work when needed but don't push unnecessary or optional procedures. I've seen both Dr. Worob and Dr. Barron and enjoyed both of them. Also the office vibe is great, and they have some cool technology that's actually useful and functional. Definitely recommend them! read more

My family and I went to twelve oaks dental several times over the past year or so. The service from the dentists and hygienist was really solid. However, the billing from the office is definitely subpar and borderline dishonest. After my wife's 2nd visit we paid our bill and settled our account. We were told that we are all set and no additional payment was due. A couple months went by and to our surprise an additional bill for several hundred dollars came. We called the office when the bill came and received a vague explanation about our insurance not covering certain charges. We asked why those charges weren't brought to light when we paid our bill and there was no explanation. It is a shame because the dentists at this office really were great, but you definitely don't want to deal with an office that is unclear and not upfront about bills and billing. The dishonesty and questionable business practices of this office lead me to recommend finding a different dentist. read more

I am a fitness enthusiast and my education is in health, wellness, and kinesiology. That being said, I am a person who loves going to the dentist, and I am especially prudent when choosing my dentist... Dr. Worob is meticulous in his examination and consultation, and his entire staff follow his leadership. I love the education that comes from him and from all the hygienists and the other dentists. The front administrative desk ladies are prompt, warm and down-to-earth!!! A person knows of Dr. Worob's passion for healthy teeth and gums when he explains all of the options and possibilities during his thorough examination (headaches and teeth clenching or grinding) . I was completely blindsided by the bill that was charged to me for basic treatment - X rays and cleaning - after being told that my insurance covers 100% and I will not be required to pay anything out of pocket. I don't do reviews, but I couldn't resist bragging about the care I received yesterday. This review is for all the nervous people out there who hate going to the dentist out of fear of the unknown! I went in for a deep cleaning of the roots of my teeth, something that will help me stave off full periodontal surgery. In fact, they have helped me avoid surgery for years. But what really impressed me yesterday was their new dentist, Dr. Cronin. Although I normally see Dr. Worob, it was Cronin who came in to numb the entire left side of my mouth. It was amazing! This is the part that I normally dread, but I never felt a thing. She was so gentle and easy that I almost didn't know there was a needle in my mouth. Then, my hygienist, Laura, completed the deep cleaning procedure, but she didn't stop there. She cleaned the little bits of stain from my entire mouth and there was no extra charge. She said, "there is no way one of my clients will leave here without a beautiful set of teeth!" What I really appreciate about Laura is she cleans your teeth in a nice methodical pattern so you always know what to expect. She doesn't jump all around your mouth so you white-knuckle the arms of the chair. I learned about this practice from my brother who works for Patterson Dental.
