This was our first visit to 13 Moons and we will be back. I have begun to really understand that everyone has a different idea of great food, and an acceptable price...but as self-proclaimed foodies...this is as good as it gets and worth every penny. We stopped in for a spontaneous dinner and walked away in food bliss. The Service: Our waitress was super friendly and perfectly attentive. She suggested we try the scallops as an appetizer (we were not planning to eat an appetizer) but she made a huge deal about how good they were so we figured why not. My only wish is that there had been more of them. They were perfect...perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned (very lightly) and the garlic mushroom sauce they sat on was to die for. Great recommendation! The Food: I love when you can talk with a server about what you want, and they say...well, that is not on the menu but we can make that happen. Chef prepared a 4 oz filet (as perfect as any steak we have every had) along with the halibut...which were basically two different meals. The fish was light and tasted amazing, and the portion size was huge. The Price: Great food typically comes with a price tag. If I was eating at the corner chain restaurant I would have been upset with what we paid for dinner, but this meal was worth every penny. The Atmosphere: The indoor seating was cozy; however, on a nicer day we would have snatched up one of the tables on the patio with a huge fireplace and great views of the Sound. If you are looking for bulk food at cheap prices...this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a thoughtfully prepared meal that you will truly enjoy...give 13 Moons a try. read more

The food was honestly so good but the service was supremely lacking. They have this obvious wall on the right side of the grill where it's supposed to be probably a service area to gather things or fold napkins or something but the servers like to hide in there and imagine they always came out texting on their cell phones. It's not that big of a deal except I had no water and my dirty plate was in front of me for a long time and when I finallllly saw my server they were obviously texting. Phone in hand smiling and laughing at phone. Also I ordered two pomegranate martinis and the first time it was super good. Chilled. Sugar rim. The second one was like someone's mess up. It was warm and no sugared rim. I would have mentioned it to my server if they walked by. So yeah really expensive. Good food. Staff hangs out and chats openly. Not the best service around. It's just a really expensive restaurant so usually your tip is quite a bit larger when you do 20 percent so you kind of expect decent service. I did try to ask someone else for help when they walked by but I wasn't their table and they said scornfully they'd find my server. Big eye roll. I was visiting the San Juan Island and was craving steak. I looked up 13moons and let me tell you, I WAS AMAZED. The restaurant has a beautiful set lay out and outside patio dining that's decorated very well. The cocktails are delicious and yummy to the eyes. The steak was so buttery and cooked to perfection. Hands down, the best steak house in Skagit County. The rib eye was cooked to perfection. The service was out of this world. But I award only 4 stars for a reason. First, the prices are a bit high in my estimation. Second, Since I've lived in Vegas, when I venture into a casino (which is rare), I expect very reasonable prices. This is not the case here. Us folks who venture to the casino to eat should be getting a real deal for putting up with the parking, noise and cigarette smoke. Not to mention, gamblers, especially slot machine gamblers who are notoriously rude. I wish the atmosphere didn't affect the experience, but it does. I'm almost embarrassed to have even considered jamming out of this reservation. What I think of casino restaurants is same as for hotel restaurants but I digress. Ordered the Cioppini which basically is a seafood jambalaya in a nice broth, with lots of garlic, celery & cooked tomatoes. As per pic, plenty of mussels, clams, fish & 2 gigantic scallops. And the steak? Wow. I don't think it's Angus otherwise it would've been stated in menu, but this ribeye is sure worth ordering again. Moist, tender & garlic mash potatoes another hit. The apple strudel & bread pudding were just average. Decor is quite spacious with high lofts and great daytime views of the water. Good service too. read more

Location/Ambience: This restaurant is located on the second floor of the casino. It's nice because it is in the non-smoking section so you don't smell the smoke when you are eating. The view out of the giant windows which frame the north side of the restaurant are fantastic. Food: The food here is definitely 5* with plenty of seafood options. Each dish you get defintely tells you this is a fancy restaurant. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but it's what you would expect of a higher end restaurant. Came here because we were watching a show at the Casino later in the evening. Definitely make a reservation expecially if you want to be here on a Friday or Saturday evening. read more

We eat here fairly often, and are happy with most everything. Once, our steak was somewhat overcooked, but they comped us a free dessert to make up for it. The seafood has always been excellent, and the pork chop I was served here was tasty and succulent, too. The salads are a bit difficult to eat, as they aren't cut and served in a normal manner, I believe I took a picture and included in one of our Yelp tips. They're trying a bit too hard to be original in their presentation. Sometimes, getting served can be an ordeal, as one of the other reviewers mentioned. GREAT find! My husband and I live nearby but never considered going to the casino restaurant, let alone the casino itself. I attended an event at 13Moons last night, and I had such a great meal, I returned for a second night in a row! 13Moons has a casual, nicer atmosphere. The chairs are comfortable (big plus in my book) and is the type of place where you would be comfortable in jeans or a dress and everything in between. The food is seriously spectacular. Last night I had their steak special, which was a center cut filet with blue cheese. It was very tasty. I loved their cherry lemonade with vodka added. Their dark chocolate creme brûlée was AWESOME. Tonight I had their kobe burger that was topped with a slab of brie and prosciutto. WOW. The fries were great too, but I focused me efforts on the burger. Both nights, the service was prompt, polite, and knowledgeable. It's a very easygoing place and I think the staff do a nice job keeping their interactions polite but friendly. Great service. The first night, my whole meal was about $100 (including 2 adult beverages). Tonight, I spent about $35. I will definitely return again and again. This place is a hidden gem! 12/10 - extra points for being unexpectedly fantastic. And I may even book a hotel room for a romantic getaway with my husband next time! read more

We had a great dining experience on a Sunday night, when they were very busy. This was during the peak of the heatwave, and they had great air conditioning. The four of us sat in the bar area, and have very attentive service. The waitress and assistant manager were great with our cocktails and our nice bottle of wine. Very relaxing. It is costly, but I think worth the service and the view. Looking forward to sitting on the terrace next time we go. read more

Very rude. Didn't help us for 3 minutes while we stood there waiting to be seated. Then rudely asked if we had reservations. When we said we didn't, they said they were not taking anything outside a reservation. The place was completely empty. Either we were out under dressed or they were just rude. This is an excellent place to dine especially if you are staying at the casino or RV park. Summertime on 13 moons deck is tranquil and beautiful offering a beautiful gas fireplace and scenic views of Padilla Bay. The apps and happy hour menu are to die for! No complaints! The one time we had dinner here inside the restaurant a year ago we ordered the halibit and were very disappointed at how small the portion was. Great taste just very small helping of halibut. This is disappointing when we see meat eaters which we are not order steak, prime rib and they get a huge portion of beef on their plates compared to the halibut. read more

This restaurant has good food and a beautiful outdoor area, but can be overpriced. I understand 13 Moons is more of an 'upscale' eating establishment, but sometimes the portions and the prices just don't add up. I went here for a group dinner and ordered a blackberry steak salad. The server told me they were out of blackberries, so it would have other fruits on the salad instead. The salad itself was good, but not worth the $30 I paid for it. I also had a delicious lemon drop here- but yes- it was also more expensive than most lemon drops. I think 13 Moons is a great dining option if you're not worried about money, but for most people it's just overpaying for small portions of basic food. read more

I'm a little late in writing this but wanted to go ahead and post it late. My husband and I ate here on New Years Eve. We hadn't made reservations but they let us sit in the lounge area. It was a specific menu for that night (A few choices) which was fine. The food was awesome and so delicious, the service was friendly and kind. Disappointing in every way. Salad served without removing the heart from the lettuce and on a tiny plate without room to cut it out like they should before before serving it. Salmon filleted by a rookie who left it full of bones. The "loaded" baked potato is a dried up potato served with itty bitty cups of butter, sour cream, and bacon. Prime rib is tough as leather and served with some flavorless white stuff pretending to be horseradish. We should have bought burgers downstairs and gambled the 250 instead. read more

This is the place you'll never have to worry about dry, overcooked food, especially the Scallops, they are Devine. We ate on the patio. While casual there was plenty of seating. Nice sitting areas with outdoor fireplaces for enjoying the outdoors even when a little cool. Our service was excellent. I had the filet mignon which was cooked medium to perfection! My husband had the Kobe burger which he also enjoyed very much. I was hesitant at first to try this place because of my perception that it was really pricey. We lucked out though. Caught their "Early Bird" special (4-6 pm), $24 for a 3 course dinner. I had the grilled salmon, my wife had a steak. Both delicious and good sized portions. Came with garlic mashed taters and a wedge salad, followed by a chocolate lava cake. Nice quiet dinner for two, well worth what we paid. Definitely try it again, although next time during daylight for what has to be an awesome view. read more

We arrived at 6pm with Reservations and seated immediately, ours servers did an outstanding job, the food was excellent. I had Sockeye and it was perfectly cooked. I look forward to our next time here. My wife and I bought tickets to see the Whose Live Anyway show at Swinomish Casino. A good friend at work recommended 13 Moons for our pre-show dinner. My friend is an amateur chef, and has never steered me wrong in his recommendations. We ended up arriving 30 minutes early for our reservation. The wait staff was very nice and found a table for us a little early, but everything after that went downhill. The actual layout of the restaurant is very nice, and we were seated at a table close to both the bar and the kitchen. We waited almost 5 minutes before someone approached us asking for a drink order. While we were waiting, we noticed that there were two VERY large parties in the restaurant. I'm talking about 20 people per party. It became evident that these two parties had zero regard for any of the other diners in the restaurant because both parties carried on like they had rented the place out privately. They were loud and obnoxious and were clearly monopolizing the wait staff. As a result, service was painfully slow for all the other diners. As for the food, we ordered the mussels for appetizers which were actually very good. My wife and I intended to keep the leftover broth to use with our bread, but right as we finished, a busser came over and just grabbed the bowl and walked off. I tried to shout after him, but he didn't hear me and dumped the broth out before I could get his attention. As for entrees, I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare, because the ones I could see from the kitchen looked excellent. When my steak arrived, it was grossly over-cooked. At this point it had been over an hour since we had been sat, and we were running up against the start of our show, so I just ate disgruntled. My wife ordered the bone-in pork chops which were also over-cooked and unappetizing. She didn't even finish her meal. I feel like this could have been a better experience if the restaurant hadn't booked two huge parties at the same time. Whether they were under-staffed or just made a reservation mistake is unknown. Our consensus was that we'd try 13 Moons again and see if there is a change in service. read more

I have eaten here at least 3 times and I am not sure I have ever gotten past the pork chop. It is absolutely delicious! The veggies and potatoes included (not listed on the menu, so don't over order by getting an appetizer like I did but the truffle fries were good, too) were also well seasoned and the perfect complement. My husband and I stayed at the Swinnomish Casino and ate at 13 Moons to celebrate Valentine's Day. We had 5:30 dinner reservations. We came down to the restaurant at aprox 5:15. The hostess stand was having some problems because their computer system was offline. I was able to show the person who was checking us in the Open Table email that had my reservation confirmation but with their system being down they were really confused and didn't even seat us until nearly 6 pm. Even then it was to have us sit at the bar while they figured out which table we were supposed to sit at. What? It's 2 people. There were a ton of open tables. Just sit us at one that's open and has a server assigned to it. It's not rocket science. After we were finally seated things went from bad to worse. Service was terrible. It took 35 minutes to get our appetizers that we had ordered at the bar before being seated out to us. We were getting ready to walk out when our food was finally brought out to us. A couple other diners were doing the same! The people at the table next to us ate their salad and left. My husband let our waitress know we weren't happy. It seemed to make her nervous. Service sped up for a little bit, but ultimately it was a bummer. Our food though was good, but not good enough to make me want to go back after the problems with checking in for reservations and slow service. read more
