Horrible experience for us, we went in and waited for quite a while for steak and were served two pieces horrifically raw when they were supposed to be well done and medium. Sent them back and got to wait an additional 30 minutes while everyone else ate their meals, manager never came over and apologized or even bothered. The next steak was more fat than meat as you can see in both pictures. Why should I bother to ever come back after this bad time? Just a reason not to bring a party of six to another place and these days thats a bad way to run a business. Delicious Only complaint: The 1885 burger was good, but the bun was wet on the bottom and the bacon was not crispy and had gelatinous fat on it. The fried green tomatoes are fantastic with the coleslaw topping. I'm not a fan of coleslaw but this was different and very tasty. No ranch provided, have to ask for it but it really didn't need it. Had the lunch fried chicken mash potatoes and green beans. The portion was sufficient however I'm used to larger portions where you have plenty to take home for another meal so the cost is justified and this was just enough for 1 meal. 1st timer! Just moved in Acworth GA from Southern California. Very good! Our server is great! We ordered 1 appetizer - deep fried okra , and cheese pimiento with pita. My son ordered chicken sandwich , my husband ordered wings as his meal with fries . And I ordered a small spinach salad with grilled chicken.... Wow delish!!! It was excellent!! Crazy busy on opening night! What a fun place! Lots of seating indoor and outdoor (when the weather permits). All employees wore masks at all time. Bar area is huge and the menu is the same but no waiting if there's an open spot, since the regular restaurant seem to be booked! We chose to have dinner at the high top to be closer to the TV and it was a great choice, Andrew our bartender was awesome! We had fried green tomatoes, wings and pork chop. The food is delicious, the Brussels sprouts are to die for! Wine selection is great and lots of bourbon and specialty liquor for those who are into that. I have eaten here three times. The first time was fantastic, I had the shrimp and grits. The service was spot on. The second time was for lunch, so I just had a burger. It was alright but nothing special. The last time was in May 22 my family of 3 each had the $30 strip steak. Although cooked to the right temperature this meat was of very poor quality. Beverage and water did not sit empty for more than a minute at a time - Fried green tomatoes were fried perfectly and pair nice with the pimento cheese - Wings were on point, wasn't expecting a batter but it absorbed the sauce nicely giving a nice flavor - Pork chop was cooked well. Wings cooked wrong, sent back, clearly just dropped back in the fryer. Should've been remade. Burger had the flavor of cardboard. Tomato cucumber salad was just off. Maybe a little old?? Grits were decent, but zero and I mean zero salt. House chow chow was definitely not as expected and had a highly bitter taste. Brussel sprouts were ungodly under-seasoned. So the key takeaway from this experience....they do not know how to season the food here. Plain and simple. None whatsoever. The customer service at this place is unmatched! We were so well taken care of and had the best time. There was a slight miscommunication in the kitchen with an appetizer we ordered, putting it behind schedule and coming out after our entree. We were not even worried about it, but the staff went above and beyond to make it up to us. We got a free dessert due to the very minor incident. It is clear that the management genuinely wants you to have a great experience. The food itself was delicious! The burger was our favorite! The portions were generous and it all tasted great. Happy Father's Day Dinner!!! My family and I came here after I found this place on Yelp. Luckily we had a 4pm dinner time reservation and when I arrived, my family was already seated. I love when a restaurant makes a reservation and honors the time!!! Our waitress took a little too long to come and greet us. Longer than usual to be honest. When she finally did come- she did the usual drink orders and gave us additional time to decide on appetizers. I got the calamari. The fried green tomatoes and the southern nachos were also ordered. Calamari- AMAZING. Probably the best I have ever had. That sauce was the bomb.com! The fried green tomatoes- those left a bit to be desired. They were missing something- like more seasoning or something. I've had better. My niece tore the southern nachos up and the plate was emptied. Our entrees were as follows- filet mignon (medium), meatloaf, shrimp and grits, and finally fried flounder. Filet mignon- inside was bright red but the flavor was delicious Meatloaf- I was so mad at the portion size, thank God I got baked potato and Brussels sprouts (which had a burnt taste)- they need to work on the portion size. Fried flounder- delicious and flavorful Shrimp and Grits- amazing, finished down to the last drop Finally, we had desserts- key lime cheesecake, white choc crème brûlée, bread pudding For me personally- the white chocolate creamer brûlée was not good- I couldn't eat it. I tried 1885 a few weeks ago as part of a work team building dinner. Again, Acworth has some hidden gems. My colleague lives in the area, so he planned all of the dinners. To begin, this place looked brand spanking new and modern. There was ample parking in a free lot. It's also located near a park which gives for a cool little view. Only issue, my GPS was off a bit with the street names/directions. The turns were correct but the streets were off. Not sure how that happened. Initially, I waited at the bar for the rest of the group and our table to be ready. I ordered the peach sangria...0/10 do not recommend. It tasted like some cheap peach juice with alcohol in it, not even wine. I gave it back and ordered an old faithful...the Old Fashion with dark rye Basil Hayden. This was perfection! Very good. As an appetizer, I ordered the chicken wings which had Carolina Gold BBQ sauce on them. They were soooo good. I got a little pissed at my team, bc when I offered to share (as some of them were salivating at the mouth when they came) they ate them all and I only got ONE. ONE of MY wings. WTHeck. LOL! For my entree, I kept it simple and ordered the fried shrimp with fries and an extra side of green beans. I mean you gotta have veggies with your full fried app and entree. I set up a reservation through open table on Thursday for Saturday (1/22). My husband and I were celebrating his promotion and wanted to go to one of our favorite steak places. We knew it would be busy so we arrived early, well aware we may have a wait but with a reservation it wouldn't be as long as a walk-in. I asked the hostess the approx wait time, she said around 25 minutes-again, expected. We go back to the car and relax, waiting for the text. We waited until 8:30p (arrived at 7:45p), I decided to call and see if there was an update. Whoever answered the phone snapped at me saying she had 4 tables she needed to seat that have been waiting for 2 hours, that staff was running behind and they expected people to leave 20 minutes ago, and said something about short staffed. I understand to a certain extent as customers can be unpredictable, fine. But to snap at someone politely asking if there was an update on how long it'd be, after they made a reservation days in advance, and showed up early and willing to wait, was very off putting. We love the food there, we really wanted to enjoy our night at a nice restaurant, but instead we left to another restaurant. They cancelled my reservation and I was sent an email letting me know, and they finally called me at almost 9pm. This situation was not handled appropriately, and I'm really disappointed as I just brought my aunt here as well, bragging about everything you guys have and all the staff, a month ago.
