Do not come here!!! I downloaded this app just to make this one review due to our experience being so bad. The food is far overpriced for the quality that you receive. However, the food wasn't the worst aspect of my visit. The service is some of the worst that I have experienced in my lifetime. I worked as a server for 2 years so I try to give service workers the benefit of the doubt but this was inexcusable. Our server was practically a ghost and disappeared for 30 minutes after the first visit to our table. We had to resort to asking other workers in the restaurant for drinks because we figured our server wasn't coming back. We ended our meal the same way by having to ask another server for the bill because we waited 20 minutes after our meal was finished and our server never came by. Popped our heads in to get some appetizers and drinks but never made it past the hostess station. The downstairs dining area was empty, two tables on the patio, unsure what options were upstairs....when we asked about a table we were told very apathetically we'd have a 30 minute wait. The food here was excellent. We had lunch and my (picky eater) 14 yo old son wanted to come back for dinner. Days later, he's still raving. He and my daughter had the 19 degrees burger; both loved it. My youngest had the kids chicken fingers, I had the fried shrimp Po boy, my mom had the shrimp sandwich on toasted croissant - everyone loved every last thing, down to the fries and the Brussels sprouts. Our only recommendation would be to invest in some good ketchup and mustard; the food is too good for the off brand stuff they serve with it. Shout out to our waitress Selena! If you are ever in the area, I 1000% recommend stopping in and requesting Selena as your waitress. She was not only incredibly polite and professional, but she was also transparent and informative about the length of our wait and how our food was coming along in the kitchen. (Busy night on move in day for the college students) She ensured we had everything we needed and checked on us regularly. She truly made the meal special with how caring she was on my Mothers birthday. As a business owner, I can confidently say that I would hire her. So disappointed with this visit!! Very quick to get drink order, but, It took forever for our server to take our food order. We had to ask for our salads. It took forever to get our food. The atmosphere is great. The building is surprisingly open on the inside with views of downtown and colorful thematic decorations. Our waiter was attentive and informative. But it was the food that really brought it all together. We have lived in New Orleans, Florida, and the Northeast Coast, and this place really did a seafood/Cajun-ish/coastal surf and turf elevated. We enjoyed super fresh oysters will all the fixings at an unbeatable price (even better than on the coast!). We had steak that was perfectly seared and seasoned, the best shrimp and grits we have had in North Georgia, delightful well priced drinks, shrimp po' boys like the Mississippi and LA coast, perfectly lumpy mashed potatoes if you like that style (which we sure did), fried okra that still has a bit of crunch to it, and even the fries were elevated. And to be honest, this isn't our first time. We have been here now about 5 or 6 times and each time our food is perfectly on point. Oh the crab bisque too!! Each time we have delightful conversations with the wait staff, primarily university students with neat life stories and warm welcomes. My friends and I were walking around the square and decided to stop at 19 degrees north. We were quickly greeted and asked where we would like to sit. We decided to sit upstairs and had Cody as our server. He was very nice, knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and made great recommendations. We decided on the hush puppies and oysters on the half shell for appetizers, both of which were absolutely delicious!! I loved how fresh the oysters were! My friends ordered the fish and chips as entrees and I ordered the shrimp and crab penne pasta. The pasta and shrimp were cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious!! My husband and I decided to take a day trip to Dahlonega for our anniversary with the intent to go to a Greek restaurant which was sadly closed. We gave 36 Degrees North a shot and were pleasantly surprised! This place belongs beach side! We had drinks that reminded us of our time in the Keys including the painkiller and a coconut margarita. We enjoyed fish and chips as well as fish tacos and everything was perfect. We dined upstairs and with the social distancing everything was very quiet which suited us fine. I hate to only give this place a three star because the food was soooo good. We called ahead to make reservations and were sat right way which was very nice. We thought they were super busy because they didn't put two tables together for us and then we smushed 5 ppl around a 4 top. We made it work. The waiter seemed preoccupied and we didn't see him much. When we did he kept apologizing he was held up and busy. We were on the top porch and maybe we didn't see it but they didn't appear to be slammed. We ordered apps which took a long time to come out. Then two of us got our meals, we had to send back the cold mussels, the salmon took way longer than the steak. The mussels we sent back, we ordered another dish which ended up coming after everyone finished their meal. Multiple ppl appeared at our table and we had to ask them to remove our dirty dishes. We had to hunt someone down to get refills on water. But like I said, the food was very good. The salmon was very tasty with the honey on it. The Brussel sprouts were very good. We spent the weekend and Dahlonega and this is the third place we've been to that the food is really good but the service is awful. Not sure if this is the norm, but it sure was for us. I highly recommend calling ahead for reservations, because that was very smooth. But overall the service really put a damper on the whole afternoon. Great addition to the downtown Dahlonega area. Fresh seafood in this part of Georgia is rare yet 19 Degrees North doesn't disappoint! We ordered several appetizers and loved each one. Our server. Emma, was excellent and knowledgeable as to where each product was from. Being a descendent of a shrimping family, I was especially happy to hear they were wild caught. All the seafood is flown in daily and you can tell. Everything was delicious, including the complimentary pork rinds which were crunchy and full of flavor. Great family dinner celebrating a birthday tonight. Service was great and the food was delicious. Lovely cool evening on the back porch as we started with crab dip and coconut shrimp served with mango chili sauce. Then folks had the salmon, shrimp penne pasta and I had the pork belly and scallops. Very good and the owner came by for a visit. Nice place and great food. Stopped here for lunch the other day because they were offering a special on raw oysters, one dollar per oyster. Sounded intriguing, so we ordered two dozen. Unfortunately, whoever was preparing the oysters in the kitchen did not know how to shuck them properly. The oysters were small enough to start with, but the kitchen failed to separate the oyster from both sides of the shell, so we had to dig them out with a fork, resulting in shredded oysters. The cocktail sauce was also not very good. We also had the fish and chips plate which looked pretty good initially, but the fish ended up being very heavily battered and greasy. Met some friends for lunch and it was very nice. It was a lovely day so we ate on the porch. My husband & I shared the blackened tacos & had roasted Brussels sprouts. Our friends shared the chicken tenders, fries & fried green tomatoes. The food portions were generous, tasty, & service was good. My only complaint is the bathroom needed to be taken care of. My husband, who never leaves a bite of food, ordered a crab cake sandwich.. the crab cake was unlike any we've ever had.. it seemed undercooked, it wasn't formed into a cake at all. I pulled mom out of the wheelchair and a kind stranger helped me get her up the two of three steps (no handrails) then I sat her in a chair till I pulled the wheelchair up. Dismal execution by the kitchen and manager. I understand that obtaining workers is difficult. However that is no excuse for cold food and poor presentation. Ordered the crab cake appetizer and it looked like a dish that was half eaten and returned to the kitchen. It was the most pathetic attempt at crab cakes I have ever experienced. Our main dishes were fish and chips, coconut shrimp, pork chops and 2 seafood Cobb salads. The pork chops, brussel sprouts, Gouda grits were good but not hot. The two salads were significantly different sized portions. Sent one back for correction, no noticeable improvement. Fish and chips... cold fries and Luke warm fish. Coconut shrimp was soggy and cold. Our server Hayley (sp) gave up mid service and left us swimming in dirtying dishes and empty drinks. I tipped her 20% because I felt the kitchen let her down and that was no way her fault. Hopefully she will learn from this experience. I asked to speak to the manager about our experience. Jason promptly came by. I explained our experience and he provided nothing but excuses. Never apologized, only said we caught them with their pants down. I will add Jason sat at a table working on his laptop and never helped the staff during the entire time we were there. This included 1 hour wait for appetizers and 1 hour and 45 mins for main dishes. I have visited this location in past and my experience was much better. Not sure what has changed but I believe the problem is much deeper than not being able to find workers. read more

Amazing dinner at this place on a last minute trip to the mountains- wait was a little long due to C-19, we had a drink on their back porch- which was like a tree house- very relaxing! Once we were seated upstairs we were quickly waited on with a drink and we ordered dinner. We decided to order the shrimp and grits and shrimp carbonara...the food was UNBELIEVABLE! The shrimp and grits was probably the best I've had in a while...including a restaurant in Buckhead- the shrimp carbonara was just as amazing...the Smokey taste from the pork belly was out of this world delicious! We also split a wedge salad which was great as well. An underwhelming experience...although Spencer was a great server. That being said, we go to a restaurant to dine and this was a disappointment. Everything we ordered was either so-so or less. Steamed shrimp...OK, but cold. I like chilled shrimp, but expected freshly steamed. Cobb Salad...about a 5 or 6. My wife's double Fried Oyster platter was just plain bad. The oysters were tiny, obviously frozen and tough. Leftovers from the day before maybe...? Mac and Cheese...awful. We were excited to try this place under the new ownership by the same people that own Pueblo's and Grapevines, both restaurants that we love. Unfortunately, we were really disappointed with our dining experience. After having to wait almost 15 minutes to be seated despite their being at least 10 open tables, we were seated in the enclosed porch in back, which was cooled only by a portable AC unit and was quite hot. The prompt service at first quickly faded and we had to wait probably close to 45 minutes after ordering for our food to arrive. On the hot porch, without anyone checking in to explain why it was taking so long. The 2 other tables next to us had the same experience and also didn't get an explanation. When the food arrived, it was fine, maybe good. Definitely nothing special. This place has plenty of potential, but as best as I can tell suffers from incompetent management and poorly trained wait staff. We saw multiple parties be turned away, by a manager no less (in a half full restaurant), because of a slow kitchen. The management did nothing to respond to multiple complaints from customers and continued to blame the slow kitchen on a party of 12 that had been in earlier. Until they get new people to manage this place, we'll plan to stick with Pueblo's, Grapevines, or another fine Dahlonega establishment when in town. read more
