Six of us arrived at 10a this morning for their Sunday Buffet Brunch. We were all duly impressed. Broasted chicken, tenderloin tips, mashed potatoes, gravies, popcorn shrimp, scrambled eggs, eggs Benedict, 2 kinds of hash browns, waffles, French toast sticks, biscuits and gravy, sausages, bacon, made to order omelet station, chocolate tower, fruit, desserts, coffee, juice..and that's just what I can remember... They probably had even more. Everything was hot, plentiful and cooked to perfection. Coffee was strong. Waitstaff was pleasant, efficient and quick. Well worth the 15 bucks per adult price. We had reservations and arrived at 10a. It was not overly crowded. When we left, 90 min later, the place was packed with at least 3 groups of 8+ waiting for tables. If you want to dine somewhere that gets your order wrong the majority of the time, this is the place to go. One day you order a meal and its prepared one way, and the next time you're there that same order is completely different with totally different ingredients, and isn't prepared the way it says on the menu. We came here for Father's Day brunch...what a mess. I'm not sure if they could have put the buffet in a worse place. One aisle was up against a wall, and the other side was up against people's tables. They did not have the same items on each side, so if you, for instance, wanted scrambled eggs but got into the sausage line, you were SOL. The lines on both sides were ridiculously long, and the servers constantly had to push through people in line just to re-fill the bar. The buffet line stretched into the main hallway and blocked everyone else from getting through, and you had to maze your way through crowded tables to the cook to order room. They offered fruit, desert, and cook to order grill room. Another terrible, terrible position choice. The room with the grill had NO VENTALATION!!!! It was like walking into a burning building, there was so much smoke. The "fruit" offered were some warm, going bad grapes, thinly slice oranges, and cut in half mini-strawberries. None were good. On the flip side, the food was actually pretty decent, but as my wife said, "There's no way I'd pay for this!" This comment received a dirty scowl from one of the waitresses, but my wife is a little too cocky to care...which makes her a hot badass...which is why I married her. read more

My work required me to attend a seminar here and we had to eat at 1951 West. The prices are ridiculous. Nothing looked appetizing on the menu so I opted for the unlimited soup and salad. Once seated they tell me they only offer 3 choices for soup. Clam chowder, vegetable beef and lentil. I ordered the lentil and it came out as a bowl full of water with hard lentils and hard vegetables. Completely uneatable. The salad was good, but who can mess up lettuce and ranch dressing? For the unlimited salad and soup with a soda was $12, way to expensive. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

This place leaves a lot to desired. Got there for a work dinner and ordered some drinks and appetizers. The apps were bland . No flavor in the ahí tuna, bruschetta and calamari. Ordered wine list and server had no clue there was one. The lack of training in the staff was so obvious. She hadn't tasted half the plates either. Went here for brunch to celebrate my mom's birthday. Overall, I thought the selection was perfect and the food was pretty darn good. They have a hot buffet set up that offers all sorts of items including eggs benedict, waffles, salmon with dill sauce, I think some chicken, bacon, sausage, some type of potato hash, among other things. I had an eggs benedict which was quite good. The egg was poached perfectly. The salmon was also very good. In another room, they have a make your own omelet station, and the omelet was very good. They also had a table of desserts, as well as cheeses, some fruit, and a chocolate fondue fountain. Most of the fruit was on toothpicks for purposes of using the fondue fountain. That would be my one complaint....I would have liked more fruit that I could just put on my plate without using the fondue/without the toothpicks. Price was reasonable. They have a bloody mary bar, but we didn't partake. read more

Being the restaurant connected to a hotel is genrally a bad thing as far as quality goes but I think that 1951 is a step above what expeted. I had the jambalaya and my husband had pork kabobs. Both entrees had a good flavor and were well executed. Overall it was good food but not memorable. Our friends staying at the hotel went seperatly and did not enjoy the food as much as we did. The food was overpriced and the service extremely slow which is where they lost stars. Even though I gave them 3 stars, I wouldn't eat there again. read more

Very nice atmosphere! Went on a Sunday night, so not very busy at all. Great to find a place open Sunday night in the area. Started in the bar, for (happy hour/ half priced) appetizers & drinks. Ordered Reuben rolls ($4) and scallops ($5). Both delicious! And full size portion for the happy hour special! I had one of their drink specials, a ginger old fashioned. It was excellent, my husband had one of their whiskeys on the rocks. (Great selection of whiskey according to him). After the drinks, we headed over to the dining area, sat in a booth. We both ordered the ribeye (smaller- 12oz I believe, $23). That came with bread basket, soup (or salad), choice of potato. Also, free "butter toppings" for our steak, which we both took advantage of. Everything was excellent, the steaks were cooked perfectly, the soup had great flavor, we had ordered French onion (but not the baked kind), the bread and crackers in the breadbasket were very tasty, potatoes were average (I had baby reds, husband had fries). And the butter they topped the steaks with was very flavorful (he had peppered, I had garlic butter). To end the meal, our server found out it was our anniversary (? From the bartender?) and purchased is a dessert. We told her to pick between the carrot cake and chocolate cake since we couldn't decide. When the desert came there is a slice of each on the plate which was very nice of her. Excellent dinner! So happy not to pay $150 for a great steak dinner, and only about $85 for 2 drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 steaks (with potatoes and soup/salad), bread basket and... Free dessert. Nice atmosphere...and the selection of food was great. However, we went on a Saturaday for their prime rib special. They have 4 sizes, starting with the bull. I ordered the king cut because I was not that hungry. Anyway you know it is bad when it comes and your wife say, "he was supposed to get the king cut." The waitress replies, "that is the king cut". It was smaller than my daughter's 12 oz rib-eye. And it was only about 5/8" thick. In addition, you will be charged extra for cheese on your french onion soup. It's not french onion soup without the cheese. It's just onion broth. And if you are going to charge extra, it should not be $2.50 extra. We had to try it once...and we did. One of the worst restaurants in Green Bay. We had a horrible experience here as our waitress ignored our table the whole night. We were seated for 40 minutes before we got our order taken. I had to ask other waitresses where ours was multiple times as well. Only half the table liked the food, I personally had the worst $25 steak I could've imagined. Over cooked and dry, it tasted like it sat under the heater for 30 minutes (and by the wait time, I'm sure it did). In conclusion, pick ANYWHERE else to eat, there is a lovely Kwik Trip down the road that I highly recommend over this restaurant. Also, the waitress had the audacity to tack on 20% gratuity. But I guess when the tip is guaranteed with a large group, might as well treat them like shit. read more

This place has really stepped it up! Menu is a mixture of steakhouse, supperclubish, contemporary cuisine. Good variety. Good beer menu with local brews. Vibe is chic with dim ambiance. Could use a facelift. The we sat in a booth that had rips in the wall paper and torn booth cushion. The carpet looks like it is due for replacing. Steaks are seasoned well and seafood is done perfectly. You won't be disappointed with portion sizes! I like how you can eat fairly healthy. Fresh sauteed veggies instead ofba potato and great side salads. The service was great and friendly. She thanked us for coming out for dinner, which was nice. read more

Headed here with a group of eight for dinner on a Friday night. We called ahead and were able to make a reservation, so that was nice because we were sat right when we got there. Our server was there when we sat down and let us know she would be back with waters. It was about 5-10 before she returned to take our drink orders. Another 10 before we got the drinks and were able to order. We finally got our food and that is the saving grace for my experience at 1951. If not for the delicious (and ginormous!) fish fry I would've given them one star. The fish had a fluffy, yet crunchy, and flavorful breading with the fish itself being flaky. The fish fry came with fries, onion, coleslaw, rye bread, lemon and tartar sauce. I got the single and I still had lots to take home! Well worth the $13. After we all finished eating it was about 15 minutes before we could find our server for boxes. Then she disappeared again and it was a while before we got our bills. She took one person's card, ran it and then was gone for about 20 minutes leaving everyone else waiting to pay. We all left feeling full, but very frustrated with the lack of service. We were there for 2 hours... a lot longer than any of us expected. I may go back, but only when I'm hungry for fish fry and have a few hours to kill. read more

We were in Green Bay on business and booked into the motel complex where this restaurant is located. Frankly, we had no expectations at all concerning the food. The location is within what appears to be an industrial or commercial area near the interstate . We were exhausted and hungry and just wanted something to eat. We were both surprised and very pleased by not only the quality of the food but by its lovely presentation. The server was also excellent: attentive, friendly, and effective. Service was quick. In fact, the only thing I would have suggested for improvement was that our entrees arrived before we were finished with our appetizers. Both appetizers and entrees were delicious and beautifully served and presented. The bread basket had an assortment of good rolls and crackers, with two types of soft butter: plain and flavored. Only my husband ordered dessert, as dinner was more than sufficient for me. His carrot cake was beautifully presented and was quite a large piece, but he pronounced it a little on the dry side. Were we to be back in Green Bay, we would certainly return to this restaurant. The final welcome surprise was that the bill was surprisingly low for an excellent dinner! read more

1951 has always been one of our favorites! We were in town for a wedding and stayed at Comfort Suites so we had a few opportunities to dine at 1951, from Friday night fish, ahhh-mazing! Lisa was a great server! We enjoy the staff, atmosphere and the food was delicious. We had wedding dinner there Saturday night and their banquet food was surprisingly wonderful ! The tenderloin was cooked perfectly, tender, juicy and delicious! Sunday Brunch was over the top, out of this world delicious. Sandy was our server and she was a delight! The reuben rolls were pretty good, presented well with great flavor. However, my crab stuffed shrimp lacked any flavor. It was served with a massive amount of dry, sauce less pasta. The turtle cheesecake was the redeemer of the night. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, but where we were sat seemed unclean. The table wasn't wiped down entirely and there was sauce covering our pepper shaker, but nothing deal breaking. The service was pretty good. Everything was brought out in a timely manner and our waitress was pretty kind. All in all, if you live in the area and youre looking for something new it may be worth a try, but if you're visiting there are other options that are probably much better. read more

Had the dinner buffet which was very much overpriced for what food was offered. We had to ask for new plates because they where dirty at the beginning of the buffet line. Food didn't have much flavor and desserts where not very good either (how can you mess up dessert)? Buffet didn't feel attended to at all. Also who decided to use plastic serving utensils at a hot buffet bar? Our server was very nice however and the overall design/place is very nice. Between their Happy Hour (Hungry Hour) special and a fried chicken special I couldn't believe the food and service we received for the price. Appetizers were excellent! Chicken was great. Service was great. Drink prices were on the normal to cheap side. Decor was very classy but casual. Dim lighting, long tables, dark mahogany wooden booths...I wanted a nice restaurant and you definitely looked like a nice restaurant, I won't deduct for the fact that you are connected to the comfort suites? which isn't very swanky but you do get 1 extra star just for being open past 9pm in Green Bay. I didn't expect much from the food, but I do have to rave about one thing (ok maybe two) - the bbq ribs appetizer is scrumptious. I didn't even order this, but I ended up eating most of it, crispy peppered ribs with soft moist meat that falls right off the bone..mmm..and the shrimp that comes with the shrimp and crab cake tower is also very well flavored and crispy but moist..mm..worthy of two more stars! The reason your stars stop there, 1951, is because you must have stopped cooking your ravioli in 1951, because my lobster ravioli was undercooked, and when I say undercooked, I mean, my ravioli was still crispy..I don't think thats al dente. Sauce was aiiight..nothing bomb. Service was extremely slow - probably because our waiter was the bartender as well, but the guy was nice and the food came out reasonably fast - it just took forever to get anything in between food servings. read more

We ate here for New Years eve while in town for a Packers game. We had read to try the tuna wanton appetizer which was accurate. That is an awesome dish and would eat just that if I was there again. I took my mom to 1951 West for lunch during restaurant week. This was to celebrate her 75th birthday. Being it was a Friday and restaurant week, I had called the day before to make reservations and repeated back the reservation date and time prior to hanging up. When we got there, they had no record of the reservation. The lady at the hostess station very rudely told me that they were busy and losing reservations happens. We did get seated pretty quickly though. Our waitress came quickly and got our drink order and when she came back with the drinks instead of asking if we were ready to order, she said she would be back soon. 15 minutes later and she still hadn't returned. Meanwhile all the tables around us who had been seated after us, not only had placed their orders but they already had food. I flagged done a worker, I'm guessing a manager since he had a tie on, as he finished dealing with an issue with the table next to us and asked for somebody to wait on us. I was told in again a very rude tone that he was busy helping other people and we'd have to wait. Once we finally got a new waitress, we got good service. The old waitress did finally show back up when we were eating our entree and apologized for forgetting about us. My mom did like her entree, but I was disappointed with my steak. The restaurant week menu said it was a 6 oz steak. It couldn't have been more than 2 or 3 ounces at most. The steak was tough - even the steak knife had difficulty cutting it. Went to the Sunday brunch with a group of friends - Never again. Waited 45 mins. past our reservation time - we were told the people at "our table" overstayed but meanwhile were seating groups of 3 & 4, so why we couldn't have 2 of those tables I have no idea. When we finally got seated, we were put in a back room in which the only Christmas decoration was a tree in the corner. Seated at a long table - felt like we were at someplace like Riverside ballroom, with rows of tables. Not conducive to conversation. All would have been pretty much forgiven though, if the food was decent, but it wasn't. Virtually everything on the buffet, with the exception of my chicken, was cold. Cold eggs benedict, cold mashed potatoes, cold beans, cold caulflower, cold everything. My french toast finger had been out so long it was hard, as though overbaked, although not warm when I got it. My friend told me the ribs were good so I went back to get a couple, and took a little mac & cheese to go with, because that dish was steaming. It was warm, but tasteless. Needed salt, pepper and cheese. The desserts were fine. The coffee was good (but not included in the !2.95 price of the meal). I ordered a mimosa, and took it on faith that's what it was, thoough you couldn't prove by the taste there actually was any champagne in it. I've been here for dinner, and it was good, but that was some time ago. I am not going to be in a hurry to go back, and Never Never for the brunch. No Way. read more

My family of 8 ate here for Mother's Day buffet at 12:30pm today. Very disappointed. There was confusion which table was ours, no one greeted us or offered beverages until well after we started eating. Our stacks of plates were not cleared timely at all. Super busy, two buffet tables, one was closed. What??? Food was not great, stuffing was like paste, tips were more like shredded beef. Dirty plates! At $20 per person I would have expected better food and service for an establishment such as yours. read more

Steak was not cooked as ordered. Steak was served Luke warm. Steak was chewy. Salad dressing came out of a bottle. I have eaten many time at the 1951 Club and the food has always been excellent. Our waitor indicated a new cook was in the kitchen and apologized for the delay in serving our order. The new cook obviously needs help in returning to the previously excellent tasting food & service. I will try the 1951 Club again but if nothing is changed from this visit that will be it for me. read more

Very disappointed: ordered the 6 oz. filet medium-well, it came out rare; returned it to the kitchen. About 5 minutes later the filet was served well-done. The butter-garlic topping and the thinner edge was charred. The steak was dry. The baked potato originally served was cold by the second serving. I was expecting a much better anniversary dinner.
