2127 1st St Livermore, CA 94550 "1st Treat Yogurt" is a place for a cool treat in the center of downtown Livermore. My job finished up in the Livermore area, and before heading home I decided to grab some fro-yo. It was pretty busy on 1st Street on a Friday evening, but I found parking on a side street. This is a narrow shop with seating in front and some more in the back. I'm guessing this place gets pretty popular in the summer months when Livermore can get pretty warm. They have only four fro-yo machines, so that's eight flavors + the combo twist. They also have lots of toppings to choose from. This is a self-service, pay by the ounce place. So it's great for fro-yo fans who like to load up on the toppings. When I was there, the price was 70 cents per ounce. That's about average. No samples. Just create it, weigh it, pay and enjoy. I had the nonfat Chocolate/Vanilla twist, and a fruity sorbet. Very good! Good and icy refreshing. I frequently come in to 1st street yogurt and had a unpleasant experience today. Yesterday I had gone into 1st street with the child I babysit , and as we put our yogurts up to weigh them, mine accidentally fell off the scale and maybe 3 strawberry slices and a few coconut flakes fell out. Not my whole entire yogurt .. The cashier / only employee working , her name is Hannah, was Extremely rude about it and made the whole experience feel off. She huffed and puffed as if her job isn't customer service ? Very embarrassing. I work customer service myself and would never act the way she did. Hannah rolled her eyes Multiple times and was visibly bothered by the fact that I Accidentally dropped my yogurt. I then asked for her name and she was then again extremely rude about giving her name. Be better or don't work in customer service !! I will still be coming in to first street as the children I babysit love it there , but I would appreciate it if the owner taught her employees that a part of customer service is actually tending to the customers , lol!! 2/5 starts for terrible customer service read more

1st Treat Yogurt is the best! They have great flavors and toppings, friendly staff, and the place is always clean. We reserved the back room for my daughter's birthday party last minute due to rain in the forecast. The manager, Raquel, was very responsive and friendly and we were able to solidify plans in about a day. We were able to bring appetizers, our own birthday decorations, and crafts for the kids. I'd like to do five stars, particularly because they offer a dairy-free selection for Allergy Boy, but the flavors for that are often a bit weird for him, and they don't change frequently. Get the cup, fill it with yogurt, put on your toppings, weigh it up, and pay. Say it's "to go" and avoid sales tax. Then pick up a pack of Beemans or something like that from the candy rack, with some nostalgia selections available. It's become a Thursday evening ritual, following our visit to the Farmer's Market. I had to try this new yogurt spot, since I was in downtown Livermore. This is not tart yogurt, but it's cousin...sweet yogurt. So if tart is what you crave...go down the freeway to a certain Dublin shop that starts with "B"!! If you want it to taste more like ice cream...this may be your place! I was kinda shocked that it was serve yourself...now there was hand sanitizer...but I must be a germaphobe! This did not make me happy. I tried the chocolate, and the cheescake...and the chocolate won big time....I got some almonds on top. I did like it. We ate inside, since it was sooo hot...and I must say, the chairs were very uncomfortable. In the end...I guess I like tart better. read more

The layout was a bit ackward, since the saturday night traffic of teenagers caused a huge line, so I felt totally crowded. And by the time I got my flavor of yogurt and waiting for toppings the frozen yogurt had melted a bit. So perhaps crowding tables and two lines (one coming in, and one selecting toppings) all in a small area is not the best idea. I felt it was overpriced. My peanut butter and chocolate tasted more like cocoa puffs then it did peanut butter and chocolate. Their original was much yummier. This place is more of a mock-ice cream joint. So those who perfer the tart yogurt may not like it as much for that reason ( I am a tart fro-yo myself). Very soft serve. It was OK. They had some neat flavors. Salted caramel popcorn and French Toast. Very good. Texture of the frozen yogurt was good. In general, I wish there had been a few more flavor choices. I did like that they gave several choices in container size. I can't remember another yogurt place that gives you three different containers. The small one is very small too so you aren't paying for an extra big container if you just want a little bit of fro yo. I give them an extra star for that. Solid yogurt spot when you consider convenience. The next closest froyo place would be Menchies over on Stanley Blvd. This would be better if they had more variety in flavors AND if it were cheaper. I find that their prices are a bit steeper than either Menchies or even Tutti Frutti (My favorite place for Froyo). Employees are nice and bathrooms are clean. This is my favorite yogurt place in Livermore (limited options but still). We came in 10 mins to close and they just stared at us... after we filled our yogurt we went to the topping bar. The girl said we couldn't get fresh toppings (strawberries, boba, brownie, etc.) because they already took out the spoons to wash them? I asked if we could use plastic spoons and we were told we aren't able to unless we only wanted one topping. The hot fudge, marshmallow, caramel and everything was already put away. Froyo is all about the toppings! I get you close soon but why put everything away before the posted closing time? We paid for what we got and started to walk out and they turned the lights off?? The location is nice, It's right in downtown Livermore and walkable distance to many other stores and restaurants. The customer service was also great! The staff was very friendly and asked if we'd like to sample anything. As for the frozen yogurt itself, I was a little disappointed with the minimal flavor selection. I usually go for the fruity tropical flavors but unfortunately when we went they didn't have any that fell into that category. We ended up deciding to go with the original tart, cheesecake and pecan ; all were good (just not my first choice). You'll never confuse me with a frozen yogurt fool. I'm not naive enough to think that a little tub of the sweet stuff is any more healthy than ice cream. Yes, it's low in fat, but it has a crazy amount of carbs. And anything that is "all the rage" is usually something I'd prefer to avoid. That said, when I'm on a date with my hubby (my toddler was also there but he was acting so perfectly that he might as well have been an adorable puppy), I like to extend the evening as long as possible. And what would be the perfect ending to an Indian food feast? Well, any kind of dessert within walking distance, of course! The one word that came to mind as I entered 1st Treat was CLEAN. And I like clean. I have two kinds of hand sanitizer in my purse. So that my husband could feel like The Man, I let him pick the yogurt and the toppings. But I'm not stupid. I only let him do this because we have similar taste. If he liked pistachio frozen yogurt with coconut and marshmallows on top, he would not be given such an honor. Thankfully, the hubby chose half vanilla, half chocolate yogurt and topped it with all kinds of candy bar bits. He filled the tub to maximum capacity and that cost about $6.50. The management at this store is absolutely unacceptable. One of my friends worked here and the management completely disregarded their schedule and did not fully train them before making them work rush hour alone multiple times. Management came in during rush hour during one of their alone shifts (where management promised there would be someone else helping out) and screamed at them for a minute and then left them to work the rest of the shift. To top the annoyance, they barely fill the sample cup, so you have to squeeze it to even get a tiny taste, so lame! Further, the price per ounce is nowhere to be found. They have eight flavors that rotate on a regular basis. The yogurt flavors are not very prominent and doesn't come through the yogurt. It's not a fro yo place you will crave to come back for more. Last year I remarked that 2124 1st St houses a printing shop and wondered whether 1st Treat was still in business. Silly me! I didn't think to look across the street. I did this time and found a nice enough yogurt shop. The yogurt itself was creamy, probably higher quality than many. Toppings were a bit disappointing - a number of the usual candies. We had been griping about the absence of any fresh fruit choices, and were done with our yogurts when we realized that we had walked past a cold toppings console. Once we opened the lid of this behemoth we found a couple of middling fruit toppings and a few other items hiding away. Maybe a sign or something would help out here - other yogurt shops don't hide such items away in a closed box. All told, not a bad yogurt shop at all - once you find it! read more
