The owner answered my yelp online quote right away and there was no change from the price quoted. I was interested in getting a new case as well and they were helpful, but not pushy. Really honest in guiding me to the best for my needs. They gave me 10% off the case and screen protector (didn't even know that was a thing ) since I had my repair done there. The girl ahead of me had a phone that got wet and badly damaged while she was in Thailand and they worked really diligently recovering all her data. My (fat) PS3 had the blinking red light of death (where one day it just completely shut down on me while streaming a movie. After that it never turned back on. It would start up for a sec, the fan would briefly kick in, then everything would shut down and the red light would just blink) I looked all around Austin and could not find any other place to repair it (aside from that known spot downtown that charges more), so I decided to give 1up a shot based on the great reviews. I am so glad I did because I was not disappointed. I dropped off my system Friday afternoon and John said if should be done by Tuesday (Monday was a Holiday and 1up was also in the process of moving to the speaker shop next door.) Before I got the chance to call him on Tue, he had left me a voicemail saying it was fixed! Friendly guy, fast service and professional. So far the system is working fine (all of my internal data was intact!) and John provided a 60-day warranty and even said if anything happens in the future he would take care of it. read more

While the service is courteous and quick, at the end of the day I just simply can't recommend them due to the quality of the repair work they do. I took my iPhone X in because after many caseless years and hard knocks, the screen finally failed. After having repaired at the step but fair price of 150, plus purchasing a new case and having a screen protector installed, I proceeded to promptly drop it from waist level onto my soft vinyl "faux wood" floors, and the screen went caput. I took it back and explained that this was unacceptable. With a case, screen protector, and having been from a reasonable height onto a soft floor, it shouldn't have even cracked. This was after some issues with ghosting and brightness issues, so I figured it must have been a bum screen. I paid another 75 dollars, a deal we came to because they seemed honest and reputable. From that point on I handled my phone with kid gloves, never allowing a situation in which it could be harmed. Well, sure enough, the first fall it has taken it's gone completely once again. This time it fell from my breast pocket onto CARPET while I was on my HANDS AND KNEES! A fall of only two feet or less! After giving them 250 dollars for about two months of screen life, all I can say is how disappointed I am that a local business such as this wouldn't be placing a higher emphasis on durability and quality. read more

I took a bad fall while jogging with my new IPhone 11 in my hand, and fortunately (or u fortunately) my phone took the impact on concrete which broke the screen and blacked out about a quarter of my screen. I called this company around 2pm - they had the part in stock and was the lowest price quoted and the quickest service when compared to 4 companies. I took cell phone to 1UpRepair trailer at 2518 Rio.Grande St. for cracked screen repair. During the repair, Taylor (Fresh) Crutchfield accidentally discarded the phones' speaker. He ordered a replacement speaker and installed it. The replacement speaker is SIGNIFICANTLY inferior to the original speaker (which was discarded in error). I complained...Mr. Crutchfield said he could not ( and apparently would not) do anything more. I complained to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). 1UPRepairs did not respond to the BBB. BEWARE...this business used considerably low quality (compared to original equipment) replacement parts and would not discuss or attempt to resolve issue. read more

We went together to get them fixed, & not even a week later, BOTH of us had already cracked them by doing simple things not even dropped them. The quality of the screens were not good. They gave my friend 50% off another repair, & when I called he offered me $5 off not the same thing. Thats inconsistant & the phones were completely black at this point from little use. The friendly young lady that met me at the door to show me where to park my car set the tone for this exceptional service.They said it would take about 45 mins and ended up taking about 20 minutes. I dropped my iphone 6s in water and went to this store to see what can be done with it. Saw the reviews on Yelp (more than 4 stars) and I thought why not ?! So, when I go to the store and explain them what happened to the phone, they said they'd need a couple hours to see what the problem is and tell me if it's fixable. I thought, fair enough. I went back after 2 hours after which they said a) my phone is completely ruined and b) I'll be charged 55$ just for running a diagnostics on my phone (only to tell me that my phone is gone). Guys! I knew my phone isn't gonna work the moment I dropped it in the water. All you have to do is tell me which part is flawed and where exactly is the problem. Aaanyway, I thought maybe it's normal procedure with most of the phone repair companies to nominally charge people for running diagnostics (55$ is a bit much, though) so I paid the money, got back my phone exactly the way it was. Two days later, I come back to Chicago and take the phone to a nearby shop(Jet City Device Repair) for a second advice and to confirm if it's completely gone. These guys are completely transparent and told me straight up, that there'd be no fee unless they find out what the problem is and actually fix it. I was surprised and when I did go to the shop, he opened the phone right in front of me and showed me where the damage is. Also, he doubled checked with a couple of other accessories (screen, battery) and told me both of them need to replaced and my phone will be back to normal. 30 mins later! I have my phone back with me with all the data intact. just as it was before I dropped it in water. And keep in mind, this was two days later. With water damage the more time we delay it, the more riskier it can get. They only charged me for battery and screen and my phone is back as new. So, that being said, this is my gripe with 1up Repairs. a) You said the phone cannot be repaired and the motherboard was corrupt. It's not. All it took was 15 mins to ascertain what the problem is and fix it. All done in front of me. This only goes to show that you're incompetent. b) You charged me excess of 50$ for telling me what I already know. My phone wasn't better by any stretch from how I gave it to you. That's just ridiculous. I would've been fine if it's just about point a). Because sometimes you find the problem, sometimes you don't. Or maybe the second guy I showed the phone to, just got lucky (actually no, 5 star rating over 474 reviews, so he knows what he's doing!). But to actually charge me for nothing, that's something you guys should change. Yes, I know you put some labor into it, you might have cleaned the phone a bit, but most of the repair shops are doing it free of charge and that's how you attract customers. If you're going to charge 50$ every time you touch a device, irrespective of whether you repair it or not, that'd be absurd. Just saying. Hope you guys figure this out. Cheers! read more

Brought my phone in because the screen was destroyed, but other than that it worked fine. I'd been using it with a cracked screen for months. After taking it here, the screen looked like new but it started typing and calling people on its own, taking pics and typing random letters into all my apps. I couldn't respond to texts bc the screen would take over and I couldn't type anything but gibberish. I brought it back and they fixed it at no charge. Not how I wanted to spend my day off but no big deal, they were nice and fast. Now the next day my phone is acting weird AGAIN!! I don't have time for this!! I would rather have a broken screen than a phone that's completely useless. Really frustrating. Again, I had a cracked screen for months and the phone never acted up like this, only after taking it here. I'm sure they will "fix" it again for free under the warranty but who wants to make 3+ trips just to get their phone working? I brought my Iphone here for a screen repair after I dropped it and shattered the screen. The customer service was great. They replaced my screen in 45 min. It looked great. After I had my screen replaced I had a ton of problems. My phone would open the camera on its own and take dozens of pictures. My text messages would automatically be read causing me to miss them. I would have taken my phone back to 1Up for a refund but I was only visiting Austin and had returned home after I noticed these problems. I know it was the screen repair because my phone was not acting up like that before or after I shattered the screen. I ended up getting a new phone altogether. read more

Misleading and Unhelpful I asked for a quote to have my iPad replaced. My request clearly stated that I needed both the screen and the LCD replaced. They told me it would cost $100+tax. When I took it in today, they told me it would be $175, despite this being listed nowhere on the website. I would not recommend this place. I had my screen replaced by them 4 months ago, and had to take it back the next day because they installed it incorrectly and the touch screen was glitching. 4 months later, my screen went fully black even though it had a case, screen protector, and was never dropped or cracked. I took it back to them, and they said it was out of warranty and that I would need to pay full price for a new screen. I had my first screen for 4 years, but a screen from this place lasted 4 months. I'm hoping 1 Up takes this as constructive criticism. Techs were kind and knowledge about device issues. Came in for a display and rear glass replacement on a XS. Price was fair for the work expected and I was happy to work with a local austin business. Device was returned on within the 2 day window provided and there were slight issues present. The rear glass exhibited clear overuse of B7000/T8000 glue with globs oozing out around the edges. The rear replaced camera glass also exhibited similar signs of adhesive overuse. Within minutes of leaving the rear camera glass immediately exhibited signs of condensation which appears to have mostly gone away. The display was not reprogrammed with the MTSN of the original oem apple display and as such features like true tone would not work. I have dropped an email and hope to hear back a response. Overall i wished the small things were focused on to ensure that the customer gets back a device with similar to factory finish and function even if it takes a few days longer. read more

I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I walked in after previously calling to get a price quote about a iPhone 6 screen repair. I own a few phones due to running multiple businesses. First comment the employee stated was, "Wow, you have a lot of iPhones" I simply responded "It's for business". Another employee priced the repair for me as his colleague inspected my iPhone. I received the fees associated with the screen repair and immediately noticed a core charge of $10. I asked what the charge is for and the employee stated. "Because we can't use the screen from your repair we charge a core of $10" How does this even make sense if your bringing a cracked screen in for repair?? I told myself ok, its only $10. My total came out to 89.00 plus some change. I gave the ok to repair my iPhone 6. The employee then proceed to ask basic question pertaining to the repair. Phone number, Name, iPhone password to unlock it. I provided the information and got an estimated repair time and left. The iPhone was disabled from using my fingerprint passcode and trying to input password on my broke iPhone. I also misplaced my iPhone and used find my iPhone to locate it. I could turn it off because i can't unlock my broke screen and the iPhone must be connected to the internet in order for the phone to reset the LOST MODE. The manager called the number that was attached to my iPhone that was in Lost Mode. I immediately answered and informed the manager that i just dropped my phone off to them for repair. He then asked me "So, why is your phone in lost mode"? After providing all the answers to his question I asked him. "Why are you questioning me about my phone if I just provided you with all the information to verify that it's my iPhone"? He then replied back, "You know what, you can just come get your phone we are not going to do the repair". I said "Gladly". I felt like because I walked in with basketball shorts, 3 phones, and had dread locks I got profiled. Not knowing the background of why I have multiple phones, I got treated like a phone thief, or maybe it was because of my race. Not sure but I didn't receive proper customer service. I don't write reviews normally but I felt mistreated and interrogated from a repair company. I wouldn't suggest giving them your business as they don't care about the customers. read more

These guys were easy to work with and got the job done quickly. They even have a frequent destroyers club if you break your phone often (lol). The only thing I would change about this place is that I wish they had more parking (I know, such an important thing, right? But I can't just outright admit that they are wonderful) All in all, fantastic customer experience and quick service. UPDATE: My boyfriend and I returned here to have them look at his cellphone. It turned out he just needed a new battery and it only cost us 20 bucks. They even gave him a 6 month warranty and were really cool about us returning the battery in a couple of weeks if that didn't fix the problem. They made my life so so much easier- As luck would have it, I dropped my laptop the week before finals. So, after going to the campus computer store and getting told it'd be 2 weeks before they'd have it fixed, I was recommended to check this place out.
