    Simple and delicious pizza!
    Rich B.

On our visit to Newport we ordered pizza here twice for pick up. Super friendly service and ready to go in a flash! Small inside but definitely pizza parlor vibe for the seating area! We were pleasantly surprised by the size and price of their pizzas. Very fairly priced considering it's on the beach! Obviously we liked it as we came here twice in a few days! Order from here and stop worrying!

After fishing with my kids we wandered around for the right vibe and food and found it at 22nd Street Pizza. Excellent pizza for me and one of my twins. And then excellent wings for the other twin and me as well. I also appreciated the Hazy IPA on tap. Super nice guy at the counter and just all around excellent vibe and food. We will be back!

I first tried this spot last year and I've been coming ever since. I became a regular pretty much, when I visit the beach I have to order something lol the food is very very good you can taste the freshness. I can say the same about the service as well the employees treat customers with kindness also very welcoming. What I really like as well personally is the ambience and how small the place is lol it's a nice vibe especially at night. Will never stop coming here.

One of the worst pizza slices on record.

** This review is strictly for the pizza by the slice ** First off, I have 200+ Yelp reviews and this is only the second 2-star review I've written. I recognize the impact that negative reviews have on small businesses, but I felt this review was justified. My son finished surfing at Blackies and he wanted pizza. 22nd Street Pizza had excellent Yelp reviews and was a one-minute walk from our car. It was beautifully lit and full of patrons happily dining and enjoying their dinners. I saw a clear countertop display with pizza by the slice and I felt the tingles of a 5-star review in the making. My son ordered a slice of cheese and a slice of pepperoni. I paid the $7.14 (very reasonable!) and I saw two depressing slices boxed and handed to us. Was the pizza going to get a little love in the oven? I guess not. Maybe, despite its lackluster appearance, it was fresh out of the oven?? Nope! The pizza was cold and less appetizing than a slice of pizza at a dodgy gas station mart or school cafeteria. Both slices were marred with large dough bubbles that had no cheese nor sauce. While the first third of the slice was mediocre, it was edible. The rest was literally (not figuratively!) inedible -- so hard you couldn't break it with your teeth! Desiccated and inflexible, unyielding to human teeth. It was so bad, I was tempted to walk back and ask for a refund -- something I've never done in my life. Thankfully, my son was in a post-surf bliss and in no mood for drama and he rapidly diffused the situation. He took two bites out of each slice, laughed hysterically at the worst pizza he had ever eaten, and posed for some photos before trashing the rest. We finished the evening with donuts (Seaside Donuts) and ice cream (Handel's), both which he rated 5-stars.

Last 2 pieces of Mary's Margherita didn't last long! 22nd street is the best!

Great pizza, & the owner Jerry is a fantastic guy! It's a win-win situation. you get great pizza and support an amazing local small business! 5 stars all the way

Went to New Port beach and was craving pizza! This is my second time here and it did not disappoint. We got our pizza within 20 minutes and had a wonderful meal and enjoyed our pizza on the beach. We would've ate inside but it's super busy and there was no more seating. I loved the ambiance of the pizza shop though as it felt so alive and energetic.

The time walking in we found a table a little dirty however the gentleman was able to clean it up for us by the name of Christo. We ordered wings BBQ wings in 18-in large peso pizza in Italian chop family size with no garbanzo beans and three medium HI-C drinks Christo customer service was on point 4.5/5 Music 5/5 Cleanliness 3.8/5

We had three slices of pepperoni pizza and loved that it was available by the slice, especially since we were hungry. They also offered other options like whole pizzas and calzones, plus beer. I liked the different combos available as well. The pizza was super delicious--well-seasoned and even better than expected. The customer service was great, and the prices were reasonable. Overall, it was a nice experience in a cute spot. I'd definitely come back!

The first time we visited it was crowded and there was a long line. But, they allowed the two of us to go ahead of the line because the rest were large groups, which we appreciated. The young man who took our order was very kind. We both ordered the chicken entree with steamed brown rice except I opted for the grilled vegetables and hubby chose sweet potato fries. We enjoyed our delicious meals! The chicken was tasty, tender, and grilled to perfection as were my vegetables drizzled in olive oil. The sweet potato fries were so good especially with the their homemade sauce. Eating here allowed my blood sugar to come into range for surgery the next day. It goes on to show a good diet is everything. I knew Flower Child would come through. It was the perfect low carb, high protein meal. The second time we arrived, there was no line so we were able to order right as we got up to the counter. The young lady there was very welcoming. My husband ordered the same thing but I slightly changed the meal opting for a cauliflower risotto in place of the grilled vegetables previously. Delicious! The interior has a whimsical & bright decor and impeccably clean. The high ceilings make it feel very spacious & airy. Looking forward to returning.

There are plenty of seats outside with some shade, but only a handful of tables inside. It's in a plaza with various other shops, so parking is very accessible. Food didn't take too long, I think we got our food after 10 minutes or so of waiting. Honestly the presentation is solid. I got The Bowl Bowl, and my friends ordered the chicken wrap, Newport Bowl, and we shared Za'atar and sweet potato fries. The bowls came with a citrus sauce, but we had to order extra garlic and chili sauce on the side for the wrap and fries. The fries with sauce were honestly sooo good. The sweet potato fries had this amazing soft texture and it melted in your mouth, the sweetness paired nicely with the sharp garlic sauce. The Za'atar fries were well seasoned and had a nice crisp. They give you a good amount for the price! I personally enjoyed The Bowl Bowl, the quinoa mixed with fresh corn, big chunks of sweet potato (I think they would have been better cut smaller), avocado, their grilled chicken, and chips. I mixed it with the sauce and additional toum and thought it was a perfect post-workout bowl. Hefty, nutritious, and good for the cost ($15). I tried a bit of the Newport Bowl and it was basically a regular salad bowl, nothing special and in my opinion - not worth the price. You're better off trying a more varied bowl or wrap. The chicken wrap was fine, there were some pickled veggies that added a good crunch. The main reason why I'm hesitant to come here again (besides the fries) is that the chicken was quite dry in all of these dishes, and it didn't really have a prominent char or flavor/smell that would indicate it's been charcoal grilled. I do want to try this place again when it's not as busy, basically to see if the chicken quality holds up to other reviews.

It's a bright and airy venue, with thick, clubby stools at the bar and a dual, indoor/outdoor dining area that's just right for the coastal California locale. We arrived near the end of the lunch rush, so we were quickly seated by the friendly Hostess, though there were still plenty of folks eating, and a lively buzz was still thrumming through the room. It was just the right energy for a Saturday lunch. Our server, Darren, was a hoot, with a slight shimmy to his step and personality for days -- sometimes that can be a bit much, but in this case his charisma added a much appreciated charm to the meal. While we didn't imbibe at this sitting, they do have a full bar with a nice selection of cocktails suitable for brunch or dinner, and it's easy to imagine whiling away quite a few hours here at another opportunity. The menu offers a number of clever twists on brunch and lunch mainstays, especially house-made doughnuts and a few Benedicts that push all the buttons of "well, this is something appealingly different." That said, we were just tad boring today as diners, ordering a Burger and the house BLT. We may have made some ordinary-sounding decisions, but Great Maple's versions of these favorites were far from ordinary at all. The burger is made with high quality beef that has just the right amount of fat to make it juicy while retaining the integrity of the flavor of the meat. Cheese, veggies and a fresh brioche bun rounded out the presentation, as did a perfectly achieved pink medium rare. This was a very good, very satisfying burger served with crispy, shoestring fries that really hit the spot. The BLT is built on Levain sourdough that is thick-cut and lightly toasted, and holds up nicely against the moisture in the tomatoes and bright, leafy lettuce. Aioli had a noticeable but mild, and very enjoyable, garlic accent that played really well with everything, walking the line between "spread" and "dressing," and becoming a meaningful component of the sandwich rather than being just an adornment. But the star of the sandwich was the smoky bacon, cut thick enough to retain a pleasing chew while also boasting the kind of char and crisp that make for the most enjoyable bacon on a sandwich. Really, this was a terrific BLT, far above what you normally get, and, as I said before, not anywhere near as ordinary as you may think. So, a very good lunch at Great Maple, and very good reason to plan another visit very soon. Kudos to everyone.
