Chandeliers here and there with a few plasmas intermixed. Booths along the wall and a cozy lounge room at the end. An outdoor area for the smokers. And another area for those playing pool. I'm not one to shy away from a scummy dive bar but 2J's is just a little too rank for my taste. The place smells of ashtrays, bad plumbing and old biker BO. i came here during daylight and the place was packed with older scary looking men. I was definitely out of my element -- expecting a beer bottle to break over my head for looking clean. The outside patio is decent. i hung out in the fresh air hoping it would clear up my sinuses of the filthy imbedded stench inside the bar. It was quite a sight - I loved people watching and observing the young suck up a rum n coke like it was a Capri Sun. Yum. I just didn't feel secure here...nor did i feel welcomed or comfortable. it is definitely the type of bar you stop by momentarily before you hit up a better bar in the Fullerton area. I have also been here at night time and the clientele and atmosphere is a bit different...not much better. If you are looking for a cheap place to drown your sorrows at - hit this place up. If not, I would seek elsewhere...The Fling Bar in Santa Ana is a pretty good start. read more

I love(d) spending 1/2 of my paycheck here multiple times lolllol A little sad ashtonnnnn..my fav bartender hasnt been there the last few times ive gone.... I've been to this bar a few times (3 really) and all three times, I was there to celebrate a friends birthday. It's a nice little dive bar just off the 91 on Harbor. It's right behind a Shell Station, so if you blink, you just might miss it. There is no cover charge and they have a patio for smokers. They also have a few TV's playing sports, a few pool tables, jukebox and occasionally, they have a live band on Saturday nights. The bartender's pour with a heavy hand and the drinks are cheaply priced. If you're looking for a dark, cool place to just hang out - Away from the "club scene" where people order Apple Martini's and non-stop hip hop is played by the DJ - this is the place for you. read more

Hands down the best dive bar in town! This has been my spot for years and though its changed over the years but for those of you who know dive bars its the people that go there that usually make or break the place with that in mind the people and even more so the staff there really make this place happen. The bartenders there are some of the best in the OC! The type that will remember ur name and ur drink if you've been there a few times and the pours are are always " high elbow "!! Live music and Djs during the week make it better that ur average dive bar environment and keeps it lively. The weekends are the same but kicked up a notch. 2J's is that dive bar that you love to hate. Or is it hate to love? Both seem fitting. Either way, this place serves up a whole lot of booze ($10 pitchers of anything on tap) with a side of supreme sketchiness. The women's restroom should be quarantined. Bring your rainboots: one of the stalls has a rapidly filling bucket placed under a leaky toilet pipe, and the floor is wet at any given time. GOD, I hope that's water. The trashcans are most often overflowing, so be careful not to walk back out into the bar with wet TP stuck to your shoes. Keep it classy, ladies. I like 2J's, but don't always feel particularly at ease there. The outside patio area is surrounded by metal bars, but despite this half-hearted attempt at keeping the 'undesirables' at bay, my friends and I have been hassled by vagrants several times. Hell, the security at 2J's will sometimes let these guys in, as long as they have a couple bucks to buy a drink. I guess everyone deserves a cold one, but the staff and security could care less that they're scaring away other customers because they're running amok in the bar, screaming obscenities to their mothership or what have you. The jury's still out on whether or not I'll return to 2J's. My liver is screaming yes, but my dignity is screaming no. read more

Gotta love 2Js. Great bartenders, friendly regulars, and a diverse mix of young, middle-aged, and old-timers all getting along great here. A few pool tables, a long bar and some booths, a smoking patio and plenty of plasmas to go around. Internet juke box during the week, live stuff on the weekends. Brett Cain, a really great musician, is a regular on Thursdays, don't miss hearing him! It'll be pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's not the same crowd of overstimulated kids that you get downtown (well, not completely). They used to have problems with fights and whatnot, but it seems like they've managed to get that under control. Don't be a knucklehead and show up without your ID, they will turn you away. Atmosphere is dive/lounge and I've been told that the drinks are stiff and reasonably priced (I drink beer only). BTW, Animal's real name is Jim... and he just looks scary. read more

Arrived on a country night around 9:30pm saturday, guess it was something they were trying out, anyway the bar we come. Bartender says from 9 to 10 o clock, free well shots and domestic beers, just tip the bartender, cha ching, so we stayed. The atmosphere was cool and the drinks were flowing. As far as the ambience not so people looked ghetto lot Thug looking guys and girls kinda raunchy older wasted looking wanna e cougars lol. I had a okay time because I was with fun people. We went after work with cowkrs for a drink it near by area. I'd have to say not my cup of tea, but for a drink or two after work wouldn't mind it's close by drinks are cheap and music good guess I'll give it 2 stars for that. read more

I came in the other night to grab a drink and the moment I walked in I got a bad vibe from this place. But I thought I would just give the place a chance. I found a spot at the bar and asked the bartender about a drink he has just poured and in the middle of answering he rudely shouted that he needed to check ID. That fine and dandy but he could have answers my question and then asked. The second thing that bothered me was when he's showing the other sizes they serve. He picked up two glasses to show the options and there was a slimy liquid that ran down the inside of the glass. That coupled with the other interaction was enough to have me set on going back to a bar I'd previously been to. read more

I dunno about saying this is one of my fav places, but it's def. a strong fallback. This is the place we go when we can't decide where to go (which is often) and because everyone we know seems to know where it is cuz it's RIGHT off the freeway. It used to be different... maybe even more dive-y, but they "lounged" it up and now there seems to be a different crowd. For a while it was a pretty douche-y scene but that seems to have died out and now there is more of a Juke Joint type feel to the crowd, which I like a lot better. They have cheap drinks, music on juke or live, pool tables (6 or so), booths, loungy areas, outdoor covered, smi-enclosed smoking patio, tvs w/ different games on, etc. All you need is here! Last time I went (4/25/09) it was like a high school reunion for the class of 97 & 98 lol A lot people I knew were there and I couldn't turn around without someone new talking to me which was alright. We met some new people, some strange, some cool...you know how it goes when you haven't had too much to drink but everyone else has. lol Overall I will be truthful and say of course I'll be back to 2J's. I think this was before there was a owner change or something because they started fixing up the place and they started making people smoke outside. On a random Wednesday, my co-workers invited me to go out in Downtown Fullerton. Little did I know that they meant this hidden dive bar right off the 91 filled with look-alikes and townies. Sitting behind the Shell gas station, next to the Metrocenter Fullerton Shopping Center, it's a little difficult to spot at first- then you see the worn down 2J's sign, and random people milling about the parking lot. The three of us were dressed in business casual (it was right after work), so we stuck out like sore thumbs. Everyone else was dressed in jeans and t's. The guys were bald, had ponytails, and/or wore baseball caps. Girls all had dyed hair and skinny jeans on with either platform heels or knee-high boots. There was a Sublime cover band playing live music. To the left of the entrance was the billiard area, and to the right was the bar and booths along the walls. All the way far right is a private room for about 15-20 people, which is where our group was. Draft beer was $10 a pitcher, and drinks ranged from $5-8. The bartender was super friendly, and knew almost all of the people sitting at the bar. All in all, a decent place with shady lighting and ambiance, but cheap drinks and quality company serve up the perfect amount of chill. read more

I love a good seedy dive bar. 2J's is more divey than seedy and that's ok. This place is a mixed bag of drinkers that range from guy that just got off the job site to the I come here to get away from my life and the young bucks that come to play pool. The jukebox blasts at a deafening level while you suck back the poison of your delight. They have TVs scattered around if you want to watch some sports and a few pool tables and darts to entertain. They are doing country nights from what I saw during weekends....yeah not my thing but to each his own. Cool thing though is your not in the downtown Fullerton bar scene and drinks are a ok price plus if you order a large beer you drink out of a cool milk jug style glass......pass me a milk errrr brew. The drinks were strong and cheap and DJ BRANNU played the BEST music allllll night. We couldn't stop dancing! Stopped by after a friend told me they had $11 pitchers. I mean that's super fuckin cheap compared to any bar. Anyways, the vibes were chill although it is full of old school gangsters. So if you're not about the old school rap & are intimidated by gangster looking people . . then don't show up. Bartenders were great as well as the DJ. However, they had told me they closed at 2 a.m. , it was 1:40 a.m. & everyone was already being kicked out & music was off. This sucked because everyone was having a good time. This is quite the interesting little bar. I went here for St. Patrick's Day with some friends, and there was an ok crowd out that night, but really it wasn't too crowded. I imagine it will be PACKED come Cinco de Mayo though. Bartenders did a decent job, cool bouncers, diverse crowd. Bit of a dive bar feel, I don't go to many of these any more but J's is alright if you're into such a thing. Booths to sit down in, little dance floor with a DJ, and a smoker's patio outside with tables and all that. My main complaint would be with the DJ. I would say he was playing a really lame selection of music, and the people dancing reflected that. Oh, you better believe I was out there, but only because the people in my group (who had been drinking heavily) were too. I mean, come on, its St. Patricks Day, and he only played ONE VERSE from "Jump Around" by House of Pain? WTF? That's not cool. So anyway, there were only a few people dancing because DJ Weaksauce on the one's and the two's wasn't moving the crowd. This is one of my boyfriend and my favorite bars. Drinks are affordable, the staff are nice and they have inexpensive pool. I've been here both day and night and as long as u don't break any rules or be disrespectful you can only have a good time. I read a review where someone got drugged well don't leave ur drink unattended common sense that's something u can't blame the bartender for. When it comes to parking they have a numerous amount. My whole squad I go with is tatted up and I have never been denied service. Pool is $1 a game and u need ur ID to get the cue and 8 ball. I hate to say, "not really my scene" but honestly, its not. It is a great little dive bar, so if you just need to go to a bar thats just a bar and not trying to be some chic "ultra lounge" this is a pretty good start. Its right off the 91 and Harbor, behind the shell, which means it's convenient for gas and has easy access/outage. As or the crowd....well, i dont like throwing terms like "redneck" around too often because im bound to upset people but im telling you, i must've went on redneck night. (more on that later) First off, This is what happened the 2 times i went: the crowd was a bit older, ranging from late 20s to 40s, id say. Also most of the people here were couples, OLDER couples who enjoy a drink and some shuffleboard, as to say NOT sexy or (not probably) having sex so they just go out to pass the time. Most of the singles are dudes in their late 20s early 30s and a bit rough looking (i mean, it IS a bar, not a club or lounge) So 2J's isn't exactly a prime location for picking up on people. There was mainly white, mexicans and a single black dude...so if you're asian and you're not a pool champ you might be on your own.(like how my friends were) As for the redneck remark i made....I heard some accents, people! some of that southern twang...There were guys in cowboy hats and truckers hats-not just cuz it "looked cool" but because i really think they were cowboys and truckers up in here. My biggest piece of evidence is my key witness: a friend of mine who was there with me who was a bartender in New Orleans and grew up in Florida and parts of the south. Even he saw that this wasnt quite the stereotypical California crowd, more like Texas. I was surprised to hear mainstream and old school hip hop playing here and nobody was complaining....but nobody was really dancing or bobbin their heads, neither. The most important part, the drinks... were decent. The bartender was pretty nice and knew my sister and her boyfriend and treated them right. He wasnt really polite, per se, but he did make decently hard drinks. My thing is, you cant screw up a rum and coke or red bull vodka unless you're just grossly incompetent or stingy. He was not. There are a couple of pool tables here, a shuffleboard table (i think thats shuffleboard) and an outdoor patio. The bathrooms are small but clean. The bar itself is dark but the rest of the place is pretty well lit for games. its a bar, what more can i say? read more

The bathroom line was super long... so a man in a black shirt said the men's bathroom is empty go ahead go there.... since all the boner security guards wear black I listened ... well after I peed I was told to leave.... no problem here I obviously broke a rule .....no worries but for a secure guard to taunt you on your way out and try to get a rise out of you ??
