Chuck, For your information, I actually came into your business and had my son fitted for a helmet. Unfortunately, you did not have the size we needed in stock, so we went directly to the manufacturer. When it comes to my child's safety, I will pay whatever it costs to ensure he has the best protection available. What I found disappointing about your response is that it came across as defensive from the very beginning. If your company's policy is that you won't help customers unless they purchased the product from you, then perhaps that should be clearly communicated. What you also failed to address was my concern about the unfriendly, nonverbal communication we experienced in your store. Ironically, my son's cheeks were just barely touching the side pads, so the helmet needed a minor adjustment. We stopped at another sporting goods store, and they were happy to help us. They took the time to make sure the fit was correct, and because of the excellent customer service they provided, I ended up purchasing a different helmet from them that fit even better. You assumed that because I didn't buy the helmet from your store, I should not have expected any assistance. I disagree. I was a small business owner myself, and if someone came into my business needing help with a product--even if they purchased it elsewhere--I would help them. More often than not, that level of service led to a sale and earned a loyal customer. Customer service builds relationships, and relationships build businesses. There's a reason I was able to sell my company successfully. Unfortunately, that wasn't the experience we had at your store. Your employee simply shook his head "no," dismissed us, and made no effort to assist. Had he taken a few minutes to help, your business very likely would have earned a sale and a long-term customer. Your response has only reinforced my impression of how your business treats people. I'll gladly drive wherever I need to in order to get the products and service my family deserves. Even if your store is on the way, I won't stop. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

The store itself is fine, and the staff were helpful. However, I can't get over the fact that I paid $260 for a brand new matte navy blue helmet -- a price I thought was steep, but I was in a rush to get my son a custom team color. The very next day, I stopped into Play It Again Sports just down the street and saw the exact same Schutt helmet in navy blue for $220 -- and it was marked an additional 25% off. That's a $40 difference without a sale, and $80 if you include the discount. Bottom line: if you're not in a rush, take the time to shop around -- or you might end up overpaying for the exact same product like I did. read more

Went in with a pair of ski boots that didn't fit, had them looked at and was able to directly trade for a pair of boots that actually did fit me. Also had them look at if my skis needed repairs and they were very knowledgeable and friendly. Felt like they were fair on their appraisal of my old boots as well. Most things are very well priced and are great deals for both parties. Family owned which I LOVE and the great attitudes right as a walked in gave me a warm welcome. Needed two pairs of skis tuned for 1st time this season. I decided to give 2nd time a try based on the great reviews others had written. Needed a quick turnaround and their website stated same-day service was available in most cases. I didn't arrive until almost 5pm so I was not expecting the skis to be ready until the next day. The owner, Chuck was a really nice guy to deal with and said he'd have them done before closing at 7pm. I left to grab some food and he called less than an hour later letting me know I could come get the skis. He did a great job on both pairs of skis. Their pricing was much more reasonable than most other ski shops too. I had a little time to browse the store and they have some really quality used stuff mixed with some new equipment. I'll definitely be back anytime I'm in need of sporting goods or ski tuning. Chuck treated me like a repeat customer. I'd recommend 2nd time for anyone needing good gear. My son lost his baseball mitt. I cannot tell you how upset he was. I tried to console him, telling him we would go to every second hand store to see if they had a "broken in" mitt that would work. We went to several second hand stores, sports equipment and otherwise, and they all told me the same thing "We sold out of our mitt's at the start of the season, and won't get any "new" stock until the end.". Then we stopped in 2nd Time Sports. Turn's out, the guy working there (owner?), Chuck, had been working in a brand new mitt for months, says he always does that. We walked out of there with a mitt my son can use immediately. I almost cried tears of joy. He saved the day in our world, I can't thank him enough. read more

I love this place. It's well organized and has a great selection of equipment. The owner is a local football coach and involved in the community. They gave our football team a great deal on pants and socks. It was such an easy way to go. Our kids came in tried on the pants and that was it. Everything showed up on time and we have pictures this Friday. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Trade ins are welcome and the credit is fair. We will be here often. I'm honestly amazed a place like 2nd Time Sports exists in Northglenn, and I mean this in the best possible sense. Anytime I can go to a used sports shop and find anything from a beach cruiser bike in great condition to an old Starbury jersey for a great price, I'm intrigued. If you have any interested in any kind of popular sport, you can be sure you can find gear and apparel here for extremely discounted prices. What definitely puts this place over the edge is the custom built batting cage in back. I work a corporate sales job, and have been coming over here on my lunch break to hit a few balls. It's fantastic. The owner is always extremely friendly and accommodating to my shifting time windows and always charges me a fair price for my time. Best of all, he even gives me a few pointers on my batting stance, (as a baseball coach, he knows what he's doing) which for someone like me who hasn't swung a baseball bat since high school is extremely appreciated. Even if you're just a sports fan and don't think you need anything at the moment, I'd urge you to come in and take a look here. The inventory changes day to day, and the owner is so full of great old coaching stories that I've found myself returning from lunch a few minutes late a few times after being wrapped up in a story. The best winter gear find ever! I was searching for a place close to home to get my board tuned up for the season and ran across this gem. Walked in and was immediately greeted and assisted. Super friendly and knowledgeable. My board was all banged up and these guys made me a deal on a used board I couldn't refuse. Walked out with a new board to me for an amazing price. This is the best sports store in the Denver metro area! The owner Chuck and his wife are the friendliest people, in addition to being knowledgeable about sports. I had emailed Chuck asking about baseball bats and when we went to the store, he had 2 set aside for my son. He then took him back to a batting cage (with pitching machine) in the back and let him try both bats for over a half hour. He gave instruction along the way, which was an added bonus. I rarely see this kind of personal attention anymore. Very impressive. Went in to buy some used ski boots. For what I was looking for - older, cheap, no frills, cheap - they were just what I needed and wanted. But why I'm giving 5 stars was the customer service. I went back to get the boots fitted to my skis and waxed and the owner Chuck was a delight. He personally adjusted my skis and waxed them and while he did this, we just chatted about being a local business, best places to ski on Colorado and just how life was going. I needed a platform type bike rack for my new bike. I called 2nd Time and found out they had exactly what I needed. The guy (and oh I can't remember his name!) was SO HELPFUL in finding the exact rack I needed. He also helped me figure out how to fold / unfold and get it into the hitch on my car, made sure I could do it myself - wonderful. And beside all that, the rack is in great condition, everything works including all the locks, AND it was a great price. I cannot say enough good things about this place. My 7 yr old was incorrectly fitted by a well known chain sporting goods store for his football helmet. We didn't find out until half way through the season when he got injured, thankfully nothing serious. The original store was not very helpful with their options to correct their error. 2nd time sports stepped up and put my son in a helmet that fit him like a glove at a more reasonable price than I was expecting.
