I've recently started branching out from my standard go-to which is a pour over from local roaster/brewers and am currently on the Cappuccino boat and I don't plan on getting off this boat anytime soon. With that said, I enjoyed a pour over the first time I came here, an Ethiopian if I remember correctly. I liked the extra touch they added with the sparkling water to clear the palate so you can enjoy the subtle nuances of the single origin. Back to the Cappuccino now, I've had a few now at other local coffee shops and have experienced some bitter and metallic after notes from less than desirable espresso beans, not certain if from improper grinding, old beans, or inexperienced baristas, but 3 CUPS is the clear winner so far in SLC. Their Espresso is smooth, balanced, and rich with flavor. I'm running out of breath now, but just so we are clear the food is all baked/prepped/prepared in house and it is above top notch. I had dinner in the area with my girlfriends on a Friday night. We were hoping to find a treat and a coffee to end the night catching up. Wow, what an amazing find! The atmosphere is very open, but they have a great design with some secluded tables for conversation. The gelato spread is amazing. The flavor profiles were so impressive. Vanilla, passion fruit, honey, lemon, basil........ I can't remember them all. They were so delicious and we can't wait to go back for some more gelato. I had a caramel Latte and a piece of their hazelnut mocha cake. Everything was just amazing. Great service and such kind guys behind the counter. They were very sweet to our group and we really appreciated their kindness. They went above and beyond! I would highly recommend this place. We are looking forward to having another girl's date there. It really is a great place. We look forward to trying more of the menu next time. Keep up the fantastic work. I came here the other day and while the atmosphere is really cool, the workers were kind of rude. I accidentally took someone else's drink and they made me feel so dumb. Also the drink I had wasn't that good for how expensive it was. It had that weird stevia after taste. All in all it was okay but probably not going back. read more

The Acai isn't terrible, but definitely not worth coming back for. If you want good Acai, I would recommend Ivy in Downtown Provo. 3 Cups just takes so long to make it and it's pretty watery when it gets to you. Definitely not an ideal situation though the employees were very nice. read more

Terrible service! The girl who made my drink had so much attitude! I ordered a short Americano, asked for a lot of room, she added my shots then filled the entire cup up to the brim, she caught herself and said "oh that's not room" so she dumped out a bunch of the espresso to make room. I kindly said, "you just dumped out a bunch of the espresso" She rolled her eyes and said, "Fine! I'll make you a new One" and looked at her co worker and made a comment. A hip addition to Holladay. High end coffee and expertly made pastries. The savory tart is a great way to start your morning with a mix of cheese, egg, and veggies. I've been forgoing coffee for a while and instead opted for their blue tea which was a perfect blend of floral and black tea, not too sweet and not too bitter. My mama tried the macchiato which I sampled and it was a rich heavenly coffee drink. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5? Their service was seriously lacking. No one tells you that you'll need to wait at the counter for your food. And when I had questions about the menu the wait staff stared at me blankly. I also stood at the counter for 5 minutes trying to ask for a to-go box while three staff members argued about an iced tea. At one point the barista stared at me saying something, until I realized he was still talking to his co-workers while gazing off into space. The service was disappointing but not enough to keep me away. I'm looking forward to going back and sampling their oatmeal, but this time I'll probably keep my tip at a minimum. read more

Based on one sit-down visit and one grab-a-coffee-and-run visit, I have a pretty favorable opinion of 3 Cups. Their drip coffee is hot and strong. My sister and I split an egg tarte/mini quiche and the cucumber/dill "toast". Both were amazing. The toasts are massively thick slices of bread with cream cheese and in this case, cucumbers, black pepper and a lemon wedge to squeeze. We LOVED it. Two coffees and these two good items ran us about $18. A little pricey, but what I would expect from a place like this. Overall, it's a nice place to enjoy a cup and chat with a friend or study, if you're into that. read more

For me, something to nibble with my coffee is an absolute must, and 3 Cups offers extensive options from sweet to savory, incuding a gelato freezer as well as gluten free selections. The guy who ordered after me asked for cold brew coffee... my all-time favorite way todrink coffee! So that's what I'll get next time. $8.50 is too much for a 16 ounce latte. I love the coffee here, the employees and the ambiance however the price changes depending on who rings me up. I budget to buy a coffee every morning and I mentioned to one of the owners that I've paid $8.50 a couple times for adding a shot to a drink. Adding a shot to any drink should be about a dollar. It's frustrating when the owner rings me up it's about $5.50 but others it's $8.50 including using my own cup! I'm struggling between not coming here on a daily basis anymore or never asking for an extra shot. read more

Let's get this out of the way first, this place is pricier than other comparable coffee shops, and I think it's by design, some of the clientele is a little too pretentious for my taste, I guess it's a thing to be seen at 3 Cup, that's fine for some but for me it makes it hard to focus and get work done. Food and coffee are good, I really like the mini cookie (Pettifor) served with coffee, reminds me a little of Istanbul. Bottom line, not a place I look forward to visit again unless I have a little extra cash and want to schmooze. read more

I come here for an almond milk latte every weekend after my yoga class. The staff is friendly and they always get my order right. The place is typically pretty busy, and there has only been a few times I had to wait longer than average for my drink. The only thing is that the attic ladder is always down which blocks the women's restroom door. I think they need to figure that part out better because it's difficult to get in the bathroom! I do like that they have added a changing table in the bathroom which is great! read more

3 Cups has turned into a weekly occurrence for my wife and I, which I guess makes it our favorite coffee shop. We've been coming since they first opened up and have never been disappointed. When Amber Billingsley left for Amour, we were worried about the pastries but the new pastry chef has stepped right in without a misstep. Coffee is always delicious as we are always there when Derek is there. He's been around the coffee scene a long time and he knows what he's doing. Pastries are always delicious, the breakfast tarts are by far my favorite and the gelato is well made and great on a summer night. Love this little place and it's been exciting to see them grow over the past year. What used to be a small Sunday morning group has seriously expanded to full tables inside and out.
