The employees have always been very helpful at either location. But they have cuts that you normally won't find anywhere else. Their meats are all frozen, so I wouldn't come here the day of if you want to grill/bbq. But I do appreciate it being frozen so I can plan what I need to buy for future cooks. As you walk into this deceptively designed shop, you'll find a tight entry. To the right is the…read moreservice counter. Immediately in front of you, is a grocery store with fresh produce, drinks, etc.. There's no real service to speak of. You go in, look at the menu above and behind the register, make your choices and pay the employee at the till. When I went, no one offered to answer any questions or sell me anything. The woman at the counter next to the young man behind the register just watched me while I checked stuff out. On the left between a dark room and the grocery, were large racks of Mexican pastries and breads. I have tried Mexican pastries in the past and have not really enjoyed them. But "hope springs. . ." and all that. So, seeing a decent amount of plump pastries and breads that looked incredibly fresh and enticing, I used the provided tongs and placed a few into a bag (also provided). I'm still thinking about going back for more. They were all moist and flavorful with fillings that were delicately sweetened. So so good. I perused the menu acting as though I hadn't come there for one item only - a breakfast burrito with bacon. I liked the breakfast burrito I had here and would definitely recommend it. It's a full meal capable of holding you for a long time. I would probably want to eat one again before a long day of chores, shopping, or a strenuous hike. I need to feel like I earned the calories. And I wasn't hungry until dinner. Behind the register is a doorway to a whole other experience. The kitchen is safely and sanitarily located behind tall countertops and a refrigerated section. I was excited to see the variety of offerings from south of the border. Are you hankering for a goody you can only get in Mexico, come here and look. You'll probably find it. That dark room I mentioned earlier is a huge dining area with dark iconic furniture that I discovered on my first trip to Mexico many years ago. Black leather and wood barrel shaped chairs with black leather topped round tables scattered around a dark room with black tile floors. There were patrons eating at a couple of the tables who looked like regulars. The size of the dining area made me think it would be a great place for a large gathering. I'm now wondering if they ever have live music and if they would be able to accommodate a large birthday party. There are a couple of picnic tables in the back, off the parking lot, where I ate my meal. I believe the notion of putting tables back there was more like an afterthought because it's not decorated and it's right along the back walkway from parked cars to the restaurant door. It's not regularly attended to, I guess, as there were remnants of another customer's meal at the other table. I also had the thought that it might just be a place for the employees to take a break and eat a meal in peace. Overall, I will be coming back and trying other menu items, baked goods and products from the other room.

I do really hope the customer service and cashier friendliness has improved since my last review but I can't speak to that yet. The reason I am jumping back on here and leaving an updated review is due to having a better experience shopping solo and feeling much more impressed with their price point and selection. Being able to shop here while the store was on the emptier side was a real treat. The isles were easy to navigate and every shelf was well stocked. Very clean and easy to find all of the items I was looking for. I was very impressed with the selections today throughout the store. Found even some local goods - like specialty seasoning salt from Santa Maria which was exciting. Checking out at the self-help registers were a breeze. I didn't purchase very much so it was a quick in and out and no hassle. Happy that there were a lot of deals and specials today. Will be back.

I had a bit of a hard time finding the place. So when you go, you need to turn in where it says Somis Ranch Apartments. It looks like Camarillo City Hall is right there also. The berry stand is "behind" Crossroads Shopping Center on the corner of Somis and Las Posas. The stand is set back behind the strawberry field, so it is not right on Somis Rd. Hope that helps! You've got your pasta, nuts, drinks, and frozen foods galore. But where Trader Joe's really stands out is their *ginormous* selection of snacks. Chocolate snacks. Crunchy snacks. Fruity snacks. Sweet, savory, and everything in between. And made with better ingredients, you'll almost convince yourself that they're actually healthful. Because, let's face it: there's only so much rice and pasta one can eat. Snacking, on the other hand, is virtually limitless. It's always a struggle to have self-control here. The only thing I can do is to limit myself to a hand basket instead of a full shopping cart!

Rocket Fizz stores have such a fun vibe. I love that Rocket Fizz carries really obscure old timey candy bars (like Zero Bars, so good served frozen). And I love their huge selection of Salt Water Taffy. I never actually buy Salt Water Taffy here, but I enjoy what the seemingly endless barrels of the stuff contribute to the aesthetic. It's the same thing with the facsimile posters that cover the walls of every Rocket Fizz. Super fun to look at while shopping. Don't really need to own any. Another great thing about Rocket Fizz is that they stock a wide variety of imported candy. You jonesing for a Lion Bar or a coconut filled Bounty Bar, don't even trip. You can get your fix here. And what's so cool about this particular Rocket Fizz location is they had a lot of versions of familiar candy bars that I had never seen before. Maybe they have these selections at all Rocket Fizz locations these days. I dunno. But this is the first time I saw a bunch of these versions. Berry Whip Snickers. Butterscotch Snickers. Strawberry Snickers, Passion Fruit Snickers. So many weird Snickers. I gotta get me a Butterscotch one. Sea Salt Rocky Road was new to me too. Rocky Road is one of my candy bars, and I bet the Sea Salt version is fantastic. I might never know. I rarely buy candy at Rocket Fizz because their prices are exorbitant. For me, Rocket Fizz is a fun place to visit but I mostly buy my candy elsewhere. The only thing I buy at Rocket Fizz with any regularity is Root Beer. They have a pretty good selection of pure cane sugar Root Beers. But again, the price per bottle is crazy high. Yeah, you get a little bit of a discount when you buy larger quantities but still, the prices are steep. Nevertheless, when my Root Beer supply gets too low and I don't feel like making a pilgrimage down to Galco's, I'm super happy Rocket Fizz is there for me. My only complaint is the refried beans, I think this would be much better with regular beans. The red salsa had a nice heat level (I have a high tolerance) and the green salsa had a perfect level of acidity to it. Overall great spot to stop by for lunch and grab some good food at the neighborhood bodega. I will be back.
